I stopped by Whole Foods in San Antonio to return an Amazon item and decided to explore the store afterward. While many products were similar to what you'd find at a typical grocery store, there were definitely some standout features. I discovered a pizza bar and couldn’t resist grabbing a slice of supreme – fresh, hot, and satisfying.
In the bakery and pre-cooked foods section, I came across a cooler filled with unique items like scones and brown butter cookie dough. After a brief chat with a fellow shopper who raved about the cookie dough, I added it to my basket. The hot food bar also looked tempting, but I decided to save that for another day.
Their fresh produce was impressive. The Rainier cherries, in particular, were in season and too good to pass up. (If you’ve never tried them, imagine a cherry and a nectarine had a baby, sweet and flavorful!)
At checkout, the cashier was friendly, and I had my first encounter with a palm-reading payment device, an interesting tech upgrade, which I had never seen before, though I opted for the traditional method this time.
Overall, Whole Foods is a bit pricier, but the experience, product variety, and quality make it worth an occasional visit.
