Google
High quality foods albeit a little pricey. We did find some good value for fresh figs and pizza! The dry aged beef is incredible!

A1mazing

Well since I see that owner responds to comments, might as well post about my experience. I usually have best experiences here but last time was completely different. Went to do a job there as vendor, requested manager to check if there was any backstock. OMG it was like I was talking bad about his mama. Because he immediately came at me With attitude and refused to help, and his manager was mostly the same. The place has never been the same ever since Amazon bought it, hopefully my 1call to corporate about what happened will help.

Google
Whole Foods Market never was my favorite grocery store, but I liked this one: clean, nicely organized, and a nice selection of groceries. They also have some eating room where I could consume food purchased at the store.

The third photo with no rainbow connection is NOT a tofu scramble. Come on WF, been to other locations and at times done correctly. Thought one standard recipe was nationwide. Where is the tumeric or how about the kala namak? The bright yellows with colors is how it need to be, if only for presentation purposes.

A dear old friend gave me a $50 Whole Foods gift card for my birthday on March 18 (the same day as our only non-consecutive two term President, Grover Cleveland. Let's hope that doesn't happen again anytime soon!). I hadn't been in a while but knew that they had good quality organics. The visit went about as expected. Lots of selection. They have this 🆕 Whole Foods brand called "365". So those products are only moderately high priced instead of sky high. Which brings me to prices. If their prices were more in line with other stores they'd get 5 ⭐. But you can expect to pay 20-25% more at Whole Foods for virtual everything. They do have sales on some items and if you're an Amazon Prime member you'll get an extra 10% off. And if you have an Amazon/Whole Foods 💳 card you'll earn 5% cash back on your purchase. So on the day I went I thought I'd "splurge" since I had an extra $50 to spend. Still ended up spending almost $130❕So basically if you're on any sort of budget I'd avoid. I will say the service and friendliness of staff have always been top notch!

Google
A smaller Whole Foods, we went every day and the cookie section was always empty. It was not restocked for the period we were there. The lady said they kept the cookies in the back, which is weird. Never been to a Whole Foods with empty cookie section.

Google
love in house made teriyaki bowl but first time having it at the SLO location? Was diabolical. The rice was super burnt. 😔 I contemplated saying some thing after I purchased it but just decided not to..

Google
The location of this Whole Foods Market is convenient, especially if you want to do additional shopping at either Costco or Home Depot, both of which are very close. Across the street is Target so there is a large shopping selection in a relatively small area. This Whole Foods is not significantly different than the others you may have visited although it is quite spacious compared with Whole Foods in larger markets such as Boston, New York, and Chicago. The reason the store gets four stars is because of the exorbitant prices. Even though the selection is generally good and the products are of moderate to high quality, the prices are significantly higher then almost any other grocery.

Yelp
We had a last minute scheduling glitch and happily wound up inviting relatives for a last minute Thanksgiving dinner. We decided to go with Whole Foods catering now that SLO Provisions is gone. It was a bit tricky to find the site online, but we finally struck gold. I also found a Youtube that described the dishes, and showed how they were packaged. The catering department has lots of selections and you can buy the entire Thanksgiving meal, or build one by picking the items you want. We opted for the turkey breast meal for 89.99, which comes with mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, stuffing, green beans, and cranberry sauce. We also chose Hawaiian rolls and a premade apple pie to have as desert. We got in line at the hospitality desk, and only had to wait about 10 minutes for the meal to come out. All the food was there, but there were no general directions, and only the mashed potatoes and gravy had times or instructions for reheating. We did find instructions online, The online directions were to reheat the turkey breast for 24-30 minutes at 375, but the skin looked raw, and it needed a butter basting. We decided to cook it the day ahead, and it took 1 1/2 hours at 375 to reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees, which is safe to eat. We figure it must have been frozen and the very middle would not heat as fast. I roasted it in a big pan, using forks as a rack, and added carrots, celery and a chopped onion to some chicken broth basting liquid. The green beans were nice and fresh, but only parboiled, so we boiled them, and I turned them into the green bean casserole with mushroom soup, and mushrooms, using grated parmesan and crispy onion bits to top it. We heated the mashed potatoes and gravy on the stove, adding butter to the mashed potatoes. I added a sweet potato and pineapple casserole which uses maple syrup as the sweetener and topped it with tiny marshmallows for the kids. We the turkey in the oven 15 minutes before the green bean casserole, the sweet potato casserole, stuffing, and the carrots, then added the food for 30 more minutes at 375. We checked everything for 165, took it out , then heated the roles for about 5 minutes, and put the marshmallows on top of the sweet potato casserole to brown. The result was that everything was perfectly cooked and piping hot at the same time! The turkey and mashed potatoes were great! Moist cooked turkey with great flavor from the butter and additional herbs. The transformed green beans were tasty, and the stuffing was good. The only miss was the cranberry relish, which had a weird, gooey consistency and was more like cranberry butter, then relish, but we had a can in the pantry and used that instead. All in all great value, but a lot of labor to boost the flavor!!

Yelp
Hmmm seems like the majority of reviews are from more than a year ago so I'm going to do one from my visit Wednesday , a busy day before Thanksgiving. The store was super busy, but I was greeted and asked if I needed anything by at least 3 employees while I was there. The shelves were full and the ready to eat and deli sections had a variety of options. The veggies were fresh looking and there were organic options on several. There were 3 registers open with only a few people in line, and there was a dedicated employee to help at the self checkout. I haven't been to this WF in a while, but this was such a positive experience, especially on a super busy day, that I'm going to put it in my rotation.

Yelp
Recently bought a home in the area and what seems to be the manager ( a Hispanic man with glasses ) and another employee where obnoxiously following me around the store while I was trying to shop? When I asked him why he was following me he said that he follows everybody? A nice warm welcome to living on this side of Slo I guess.‍

Yelp
3 pm and no time for lunch until now! Happy to see the myriad of options at the salad bar and satisfied by my choices of freshly prepared hot rice, grilled corn and crispy radishes ( going out for.dinner so keeping it simple) Helpful service and friendly cashier The photo would have been much improved had I not polished off most of it before Remembering to take a pic! There is comething for everyone here, carnivore, pescy veg/vegan

Yelp
Absolutely hate this F'ing place! Long ass line, two registers open, two employees shooting the shit! I'm in the self check trying to pay for a $1.26 cookie. Everything is by weight. So why can't they have a code? No, you have to type in cookie, hit the pastry button that doesn't show a cookie, and hope it's the right dollar amount. Long line behind us, press the help button, wait and wait. So finally she sees we need help, walks towards us and stops to help a guy that was way after us. Inputs the cookie, and walks away. Go to pay and it says can't process. My wife has to go get her and break up the two employees that are BS'ing again! I originally tossed the cookie to the side and fuck it! But my wife said no. This whole thing took over 10 minutes. The long ass line would've been faster! It will be a long time before I ever set foot in this place again!

Yelp
Well appointed and clean. Very nice staff with an excellent product selection. Hot bar was chock full of quality offerings. Obviously you cant do anything about the high prices.

Yelp
I got a hot tea latte and felt that the almond milk mixed in was kind of light. Too much water. I arrived at 7:30a for the breakfast bar ( the food is delicious) but it wasn't available. When I inquired, I was told it was coming right out but waited and it did not. Please post the start time of the breakfast bar and have it brought out timely, daily so we ( there was about 5 of us waiting) can plan appropriately. Thank you.

Melanie F.

Yelp
I have nothing against the actual Whole Foods store, I'm just speaking on the coffee bar. I finally tried the brown butter cookie latte which I had heard a lot about, and was throughly disappointed in the flavor. The coffee was bitter and disgustingly sweet. I like sweet drinks but this was overwhelming. The customer service was great though, they're very attentive. I tried it once, and definitely won't be getting again. A regular size is 4.50, which I'm not complaining about, just the taste.

Yelp
This location is decent. We were able to park the RV on the side of the facility. Whole Foods was better before Amazon bought it.

Yelp
This review has been a long time coming. I shop at Whole Foods in Long Beach typically but was driving up to Paso Robles for a few days and needed to cook dinner for everyone one night. I didn't want to take the meat from Long Beach but wanted the Whole Food quality. I called this WF and the manager, Miguel, was FANTASTIC. He went above and beyond to make sure the short ribs I needed would be available a week later for when I was driving through SLO. Erin in the meat department kept me updated that week about the order and when the meat did get there from the supplier and they didn't bring the specific ribs I wanted, she was quick to try to find me a solution. The store itself is clean, has a wide variety of cheeses and such that aren't available in Long Beach. Very impressed and wish I lived closer so I could shop here!

Yelp
Poor customer service. No one greets you, looks you in the eye, let alone smiles. I wanted to purchase a whole pizza and I waited at the counter for about 10 minutes with a couple employees passing me by, but no one asking me if I needed help or even a simple hello. I'm also pregnant and when I went to checkout, the cashier named Guermo working tonight didn't greet me and made me feel stupid when I asked how I can use my Amazon app to pay. He just said "you see that blue light on your stomach?" No...I didn't. That's why I asked. Because I'm pregnant, the blue light was pointing under my belly and I was also wearing a blue sweatshirt which made it harder to see. Upon receiving my receipt, he didn't even say goodbye or have a good night, but I said it to him at least. If you work in customer service like a grocery store, be helpful and most of all, be kind. You are not better than me because you work at Whole Foods. Thank you.

Yinan W.

Yelp
Nice WF! Has all the flavors of my favorite snack (Ashapops). Also has asian wonton soup and veggie noodles take away options. Store is clean and service is great. Would return and recommend.

Yelp
Came up and stood at the counter at the grind and the two workers just carried on their conversation seemingly ignoring us. It only took a minute or two before they acknowledged and asked for our order. However, for a customer service event, one would think that the customer would be immediately greeted because you can wash your cups anytime.

Pamela W.

Yelp
How hard is it to have a hot vegetarian entree on the hot bar??? For once I'd love to see this WF be even close to its counterparts in Hampton,VA, Santa Clara, Cupertino, Las Vegas, Reston , Virginia etc.

Giddy S.

Yelp
You have a cashier working for you who refuses to type in customer phone numbers to access Amazon Prime discounts. The same checker has refused to help me twice now, today while I was politely bagging groceries for him and he was idly standing by, having already finished scanning my items. The keypads that customers can use to enter the numbers themselves do not work well in this store. It's much faster for the checker to do it, and less frustrating for the customer. Other cashiers at this store have told me it is a common complaint that the keypad doesn't register entries correctly. Please, get better keypads, or retrain your cashiers, that it is not beneath them to type in 10 digits for a customer's phone number. If it weren't for your butcher, I'd never come back, after today's second strike of bizarre rudeness.

Yelp
I am not your usual whole foods shopper. In fact, I don't usually shop here at all! However, after numerous grocery pick ups at other local stores and them constantly being out of everything you asked them for I gave the order and pick up a try just before Thanksgiving and boy what a wonderful job they did. Staff was super efficient and got my order out to me immediately. Everything was excellent quality including the produce and meats and they made sure we got everything we asked for without issue! After this excellent experience they may just get me to shop here more often! I was also impressed to find some staples like canned organic pumpkin that was over a dollar less than my usual grocery store.. And I always thought this place was too expensive. I may need to rethink! Kudos to all the staff working the indoor holiday table you were excellent and very professional when we came in to pick up the turkey and it was excellent quality. It was fairly busy but we were in and out in less than 10 minutes and you even let me pick up earlier than planned to coincide with my online pick up order. This was above and beyond our expectations. With a prime deal how could we ask for more?

Yelp
High quality meat department with an amazing staff back there to help out. The environment is always welcoming.

Yelp
Pretty disappointed that the checker had left before I went to get in line after grabbing my last item. I was instructed to check out my stuff myself. I had over $100 worth of food - many items. Stupid. That should be for quick customers. Poor lady after me had way more than I did, with 2 small kiddos with her. She was also told to check out herself. The guy actually said he could check us out if we really needed him to. If I'm going to be paying premium prices, I'd like to not be my own checker for a cart full of items. Customer service sucks today. 11/10/23 @ 9:10am

Yelp
I have shopped here since they opened my favorite vitamin girl was Camille. She was fantastic, so knowledgeable, helpful, and a great sales person since she left whether she was fired or whether she left on her own it has not been the same. The girls don't know anything about the vitamins I don't have any clue when I go in to ask for certain things that I've always bought there in fact, one girl I was looking for Tropicin she specifically said they've never carried it and I said well I've been buying it for years here and she goes well. We don't have it and I looked up on the shelf in there it was I said well what's this and she just turned around and walked away, long, dark hair, kind of chubby certainly not a very good sales person and even the supervisor of that department is not very nice. I keep going in there to ask when they're going to have the June sale on vitamins that they been having year after year after year usually there's one in December or January and then one in May or June and she just keeps saying to me that they don't know if they're ever gonna have it well when are they gonna know, that doesn't make sense unless they're the ones making the rules so I called the corporate office and they said it was up to the individual stores and they don't have that information so what's going on anyway Till further notice I won't be shopping there

Yelp
The food is amazing. I love the smoothies the service is amazing and I just love the atmosphere, but it is a little expensive

Yelp
Whole Foods is not for everybody nor do they have everything. What they do have, however, is fantastic. And it is not cheap--you want cheap? Go to Food 4 Less. Personally, good food is important and I always appreciate quality ingredients, and I will overpay to get them. I understand that not everybody feels that way. I go to this Whole Foods for the fantastic fresh produce that they tend to have. One of my 'go tos' here are the organic Valencia Oranges that I use to make fresh squeezed orange juice; they are consistently the sweetest and and juiciest I have found in the area. Granted, a lot of the produce here is the same quality as can be found elsewhere and just costs more here. And so I just don't but that stuff here (garlic, onions, potatoes and so on) unless I am squeezed for time. And on other things (berries, tomatoes in season etc), the produce here is just better. The Butcher counter is also fantastic. Notably, fresh, whole Branzinos! -- that can only be found elsewhere at local fish markets and then only sometimes. They ALWAYS have it here. The meat cuts are always top shelf and the butchers will cut and trim anything just as you like it. The fact that they label there foods for sustainability is nice as well.

Yelp
I just paid $13.00 for a small box of beans and potatoes. $13.00!! It was basically a half can of beans and 8 tiny potatoes. NEVER AGAIN!! What a ripoff. I understand that food prices have gone up, but that is astronomical and simply way overpriced.

Yelp
RUDE customer service!!!! I come here about once a month or so and every time I have had an unpleasant experience with the employees. Most of the time I don't even get a "Hi" at the cash register and the last time I was trying to return something and asked an employee where the customer service desk was and they were pointing vaguely to the front of the store and when I was still lost, he added "can you not see?" When I finally found the desk on my own the lady there helping me was very rude with my return. I had asked if they could do cash back instead of card and she gave me a stern "No" and about 5 seconds later I think she realized how rude she was because she apologized for talking to me like that and then explained why they can't do cash returns. I'm just so sick and tired of this treatment and the next time I come I'm going to grab names and add them here to my review.

Yelp
Getting used to the fresh new layout. I really like the sense of space and room to breathe instead of every nook and cranny jammed with product. Seeing some rotation of brands (new ones in, some went away). Wish there was a bit more parity with other Whole Foods stores (like great special coffee aisle as in the Los Altos store, and the immense produce selection as in the Cupertino/Stevens Creek store (qualifies as flagship, imho). The fresh jackfruit slices were amazing and a smart way to offer what is normally a huge-commitment fruit. ;-) (See pic) Glad to see the SLO store carries Olympia Provisions, (new?) brand of sausages I just discovered at the Cupertino store. This was INCREDIBLE. Austrian "Kasekrainer." Those Aussies know their smoked meats! Late 2019 Update: This location no longer carries Olympia Provisions. #sad

Yelp
I went to get dinner from the deli and there were hardly any hot items or any items in the prepared food case. No bread, no pizza. This was at 3:30 on a Saturday. No employees were available to ask when more food was being brought out. This store used to be my favorite, especially for its hot food items. What is going on???
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
This is a typical WF. Both my husband and I got upset stomachs after eating sushi from the sushi bar purchased February 13, 2019. I will not be purchasing their food court items any longer.
google avatar

Yelp
Every time I get cookies from the bakery section they are always stale. Tonight is the last night I will give them a try because I bought a box and they are so stale I actually couldn't take a bite out of the cookies. They aren't expired and were packaged two days ago. I wish they took better care to make sure their baked goods are still edible or fresh before selling.

Yelp
EDIT 2-2016: Well they basically have a monopoly here, so I go. They now have more items that I did want, but took away others, deceased quality, & keep inc. $$$$$! EDIT Dec. 2015: PRICES INCREASE EXPONENTIALLY as QUANTITY/QUALITY takes A DUMP! LOSE ANOTHER STAR! SLO RESIDENTS NOTICE & ARE NOT STUPID! I was first to review the difficult "sell-out"/transition from New Frontiers to Whole Foods Market....(Solvang's New Frontiers is too far!) I was a loyal customer of NF before this "friendly" coup. In the past, I went to superior Bay Area Whole Foods to use up my "Whole Paycheck". Now that every Tom, Dick, & Hairy Superdupermart tries to out do WF, the denizens of Wall Street think WF is overvalued & needs to adapt, otherwise they will lose consumers that will go elsewhere. The former local NF, which had many great virtues, was never cheap, nor perfect, but they DID NOT RIP US OFF, like your company has, with the "Weight-Gate"! Anyway, you need to differentiate yourself from the "Organic-Gluten-Free-Everything-Free" pack. In the news & per the old NF employees (NOW mostly GONE), WF was suppose to honor commitments to local farmers, staff, & the public. WHAT BS! Corporate lacky's, DO NOT ask for customer feedback, and remove from the shelves &/or increase prices on everything from my King City LOCAL WONDERFUL DUCK EGGS! (Hey, if you discontinue carrying a local product...have the DECENCY to ASK the customer's opinion first, & then, if there is still not enough profit (or demand) then post the farmer's contact info. ) [Those poor unemployed LOCAL DUCKS :) ] to the RAW MILK which their lawyers think is a liability...like most LOCAL foods! ~ Corporate makes it crappier for more $, and adds more TRUCKED IN unhealthy crap like: FUNGUS PRONE OLD PIES, a pathetic cookie bar, & other sweet junk food...in ever shrinking portions! They finally have more 365 WF brands, BUT KEEP JACKING UP THE OVERALL PRICES, WHILE MAKING PORTIONS TINIER! Proscuitto at $32/lb.? Is HQ MANAGEMENT on CRACK? Some former NFers suggested to me, to provide some details to management of what I thought would be good stuff to add/ change/ stock via the suggestion box, talk, or in my Yelp review Few happen in 2 yrs. Newer suggestions, plus new grips: 1) Add (the "Belly", Sushi grade): more TUNA VENTRESCA. Note: Finally stock only 1 brand now, but for more $ than in SF. 2) HEY execs, Many LOCAL Farmers CANNOT meet your expensive regulations, so you dump them. 3) Dining Area: RETURN Cheap Sea-Salt & Pepper SHAKERs on each dinning table & dump the CRAP TAKE-OUT packets. RETURN CONDIMENTS! Lose the revolving plastic utensil wheel from Hell. Bring back metal utensils, & the enjoyment of eating over-price stuff from the hot or cold bars. I keep asking managers about the damned Shakers & they all wonder where they went/or have no clue. I have even offered to buy it for them, if HQ is too cheap. This is NOT McD's, I am paying $10-20 for a meal from the bar (plus a chicken at times), so why can't they do at least what NF did before. Even hospital Cafeterias are better. 4) Over-priced, often Defrosted FISH (at Copper River Salmon prices) They First IMPROVED the station, but now back-slided to a NOW TINY Fish selection, & NOW added FARM RAISED DISEASED PRONE CRAP! -They keep JACKING-UP the $, while QUALITY of both the FOOD & Fracking brittle CONTAINERS suffer! The cashier puts a rubber band around them since they fall apart! & LOST MOST of the GREAT NF STAFF, the ones that remain are super-nice & are honest to me about the ridiculous ongoing changes that are usually for the worse! 5) REWARD your nice staff, so they stay...and say goodbye to the nasty ones. 6) STOP ripping us off on the damn cookies...most are now bland & the price went up. The got No tongs & cheap bags ruin the cookies. I have to get a tiny clear plastic container & grab tongs from the Deli area. 7) STOP selling us the same stuff that we can get in supermarkets for 2-4x the $'s. 8) Please bring in MORE good stuff from the Bay Area WF's, such as: more 365 branded cheaper items (e.g. everything from Shampoo to Cereal); reduce LOCAL Wine prices; expand this WF's tiny EURO-beer selection to match other WFs. I know you have the room since you keep shrinking formerly "cheaper" selections/sections (from Granola to Lemon Juice)! 9) STOP YOUR DAMNED COST CUTTING, WHILE RAISING PRICES & SHRINKING SIZE/QUALITY! STOP ruining the Bulk Food section. 10)Add LOCAL FRESH veges ON SALE...& please keep the LOCAL MORRO BAY ORANGES ...that farm supports a kind little old lady! 11) Improve your crappy vege, fruit, Deli sections; which REALLY BITES; for mucho $'s too! Your Tomatoes & such look worse than Ralph's! 12) If you do NOT listen to your customers, you will LOSE them, like the good NF STAFF ...duh. 13) GET RID of your prepackaged soup, sandwiches, & other "factory" made old crap for +$$$! We WANT more FRESH, made in house foods!

Yelp
Poor Security and Poor Management My wife had her wallet stolen from her purse in the store. Beware, poor security at the store. To add insult to injury, the manager there refused to let me give a credit card over the phone to pay for the groceries as my wife was crying. I personally think they are overpriced and I don't shop there, but my wife does not seem to mind they over priced groceries.... until now. Anyway, I drove 27 miles to pay for the groceries. What a poor and inflexible manager. So, Whole Foods sends an email to contact them and I do and they don't respond. Obviously just a ploy for online readers to think they care.

Yelp
Like this location and appreciate the COVID protection. I like the overall selection of items in this store, always a must stop. I would not hesitate to give both the store and it's employees five stars,,, except the meat department. I have purchased my last pound of ground hamburger here. I've always been willing to pay more for 90%. In the past year when I go to cook the meat, it's clearly not the advertised percentage based on the cook down. For my most recent purchase I decided to get 85% organic ground from Costco. Once cooked, I realized how little cook-down there is with 85% from Costco, over 90% from this location. I'm convinced I've been getting less than 80% while paying for 90. Not a happy camper about this...

Yelp
I went to the Whole Foods in SLO even though it only got a 3 star rating. They are the only place where you can buy the Engine 2 products. I found this to be a wonderful place to shop. They have so many fresh offerings on their salad bar. I bought enough for two days for $8.99 per pound. They offer many vegan items and I had a vegan berry muffin to die for. It was full of fresh berries for $2.99. The place is light and bright and ever so inviting for shoppers. I felt I could stay there for hours just looking at all they offer. You are in for a treat, if you shop here. I can't wait to go back. It's like TJ's but ever so much better. I didn't consider it too expensive for what they offer.

Yelp
A shocking disappointment -- and POOR customer service! Wow, Whole Foods (in San Luis Obispo -- not commenting about the franchise in general) has sure suddenly gone downhill in both selection and customer service. They USED to be my absolute favorite, first stop and last-resort-for-awesome-selection, but not anymore! We don't have a nearby Whole Foods, so when we were traveling down south, we made a point to stop by there for some hard-to-find items. They USED to have an awesome selection of things like whole grains, whole wheat flour, brans of different types -- all in those pull-down-lever bins (where you use a bag and write the id number on a twist tie). It was WONDERFUL being able to get just a cup of this, a few ounces of that... and to try rare but delicious varieties. All I could find was a scant pathetic "selection" of a few offerings of SUPER high priced commercial brands, all pre-packaged in their baking aisle. I was sure I was just missing them, since the store looked like it had been re-done recently... So, since I thought I was just missing the aisle, and asked a stock-clerk where her "bulk food bins" were -- and then it began.... "Oh, no, we got rid of those because of Covid..." I paused... I tried to explain how useful their variety used to be, and asked if this was just this store, or company-wide, and she brusquely said "Oh, it's probably ALL Whole Foods, it's corporate." Ah. So, not being FROM that area, I asked if she knew of any store who had "traditional bulk food items such as grains," and she INSTANTLY gave me the most condescending attitude. She "did" suggest xxxx store in town, where, as she put it "You can get food in bins there, and you can even run your hands through them like ALL the other customers do..." WHAT THE HECK?????? I asked a REASONABLE question (not EVERYONE can afford Whole Food's shockingly new high prices, and newly pathetic commercial-only bland "selection" of only the commonest grains, nor does everyone want an ENTIRE bag of it, either!), and her response was totally condescending and insulting. I was totally caught off guard, and simply "thanked" her for her time. (Another CUSTOMER overheard and suggested xxx local traditional health food store -- I will be giving THEM my business after this!) I bet it's MUCH more convenient for the employees now that they don't have to keep those neat, clean lever-handled bins filled, or worry about variety now that they ONLY have COMMERCIALLY MANUFACTURED grains, and they are absolutely raking in FAR more profit by doing so. Whole Foods -- you USED to be my mainstay for quality, LOCALLY SOURCED, healthy foods. Not anymore. Your employee's attitude and your new lack of selection (not to mention soaring prices) means I will now search out a store who DOES source locally wherever possible, has a diverse selection (available in SMALL or BULK), and whose customers aren't wallowing in self-righteous hubris.

Yelp
Went to upscale "we have all the best" Whole Foods in SLO today because Lori's website says they carry Lori's Ginger Lemonade. I searched and searched with no help from any employee. I got in line with the groceries I could find and asked the checker about it. She pointed at the store's refrigerated drink section . . . . I said I had tried that. She then pointed to another section - inferring that senior citizen me was supposed to get out of line and sprint over there and start searching again for what I wanted. REALLY? I would expect a store of Whole Food's reputation to want to help customers and get them out of the store as soon as is practicable as in SOCIAL DISTANCING. During this entire process there were several young employees clustered at the check stand and my checker was intermittently socializing with them. Perhaps this was their lunch break. I asked the checker if someone could go search for the product. Five minutes later - with me waiting like a sore thumb in line to hold my place - no one had found the Lori's Ginger Lemonade. Where the heck are the Whole Foods managers and supervisors? Is lunchtime time the signal to employees to socialize and customers to please wait on themselves? Won't be going back and I will let the manufacturer know of my disappointment and shabby treatment.

Yelp
I didn't come here to work! I'm writing this review because I got asked to start bagging my items! I shop here so I don't have to bag but consistent bad checkout experiences, no baggers and now being asked to work. Even without baggers present, Checkers are trained to scan the product and place the item directly in the bag so items don't build up. Instead, the checkers do the opposite of scanning and bagging and look to the paying customers to start bagging. Go to 100% self check out because 50% of work is done by customers already. Maybe next time after my shopping experience I could start gathering up shopping carts in the parking lot.

Yelp
Lines run about halfway across the store, they didn't bother staffing for Sunday afternoon.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Support local they stink. Literally can't answer a simple question about their products and keep you on hold for a half hour just to hang up on you.

Yelp
I am a regular here when I am in the area. My go to meal is sushi or an acai bowl with a bottle of Kambucha. I occasionally stop by the salad bar which is on the smallish side.

Yelp
A terrible Whole Foods store! Customer service at checkout was very rude. The checker acted like she hates her job AND you! Their prices for their cooked chickens have gone up so much lately its not worth it. Ive started going to Sprouts instead. Much better food, prices and service there. Whole Foods needs an overhaul and some employees who like helping customers. What a concept!

Yelp
Avoid this place for your lunch break. The deli/lunch service is so disorganized, and staffed by people that don't care about the job they are doing. There are long lines, made worse by poor processes. Be prepared for a free-for-all fight for help.

Yelp
Very nice Whole Foods. Super friendly staff here. Lot of nice produce and local beverages. Very nice deli and salads bar. Perfect store to pick up snacks and pre-made food for hotel room or picnics. Located next to TJ Maxx.

Yelp
Lots of recent negative reviews. I posted one several years ago but now I'm here to upgrade that review and in a more positive light. Your mileage may vary. Let me first say that customers shouldn't necessarily expect bright and bubbly personalities from retail workers/cashiers, in any environment. I never did it but it's not easy work (think of dealing with all of us people, one after another) and probably doesn't pay that well. So, I am happy with just having someone there willing to do that job/serve me and not smack me in the face or something (though I am a polite customer.) Further, I've actually experienced better "attitude" from employees after this Amazon takeover. There has recently been a tremendous upgrade to the food bar. Yes, I wish it was cheaper -- suggestion WH, at the least, have at least one "Amazon Prime" discount day per week at the food bar -- but the choices now are much much better. And, it has been perfectly configured in that space. Speaking of space, the recent reconfig of space at this store was a big and logical improvement. I also appreciate the 365 brand pricing -- some of the other prices, not so much -- and being able to buy organic cheeses under that brand name. Also, the very large availability of more humanely raised animal meats is something that is a very big positive, on all levels. I wish that there was more of an overall discount for Amazon Prime members as right now, that benefit is pretty limited. It makes business sense for Amazon to do this, I think. Anyway, for me, the store is much better than it was several years ago, even if it is owned by a mega-company.

Yelp
I really do enjoy Whole Foods even though I hate hippies. The whiff of hippie scent when you first walk in always makes me gag but they do sell really good food. I love their fresh mango pineapple salsa in the produce section. I don't care whether or not things are "organic" so I don't buy much produce here, or much groceries in general. The prices can be ridiculous. I like to get healthy snacks I can munch ok through out the day. The employees seem to be very nice, I haven't encountered a rude one. The entire place is clean. I have no complaints.

Yelp
Employee morale is so low in this store. Very unpleasant to shop here. If I want to spend my hard earned pay check on a high end store, I'll go somewhere where I feel management is doing their job.

Yelp
if you buy any cookies, pastry You will be poisoned by MSG and have a terrible headache after consuming the product, the FDA allows companies like Whole Foods to use this toxic chemical in their foods, MSG kills the nerve endings in your brain cells, and is a main cause of dementia . it seems like a Whole Foods store would not use it, it's as bad as eating fast food.

Yelp
RUDE, RACIST CASHIER! While visiting SLO, I decided to stop by this store and grab some lunch and a Paleo smoothie, then I proceeded to register 5. There were three white customers ahead of me and all got greeted and thanked for their business, except me. No "hi, no thank you". Did I mention the cashier was looking at me top to bottom, side to side? I do not steal, lady! Hey Whole Foods, I know I'm Mexican but I also demand the same profesional customer service when visiting any of your stores! This is just rude. I hope corporate takes care of this.

Yelp
This place has gone down hill big time. Quality leaves something to be desired but worse then that is the customer service. Tried to get a meal at the deli, asked for the bison burger on their menu. The lady tells me that they no longer have it. She says they are out of most of the stuff on the menu. Trying to make the best of it I pointed to the specials board next to the register and tell them I'll take that, I am hungry,. she tells me she will check goes to the back comes out and says we are out of that as well. Doesn't seem to care and walks away. It is a shame because it used to be the best food and customer service back when it was new frontiers.

Yelp
Usually have normal visits here but I felt the need to comment about my visit last night. My wife and I stopped by around 8:00 to get a quick dessert snack and went through the 15 items or less aisle. The cashier, who had zero interest in us or anything around her, scanned our items and gave us the total. My wife was having difficulty with the card reader working, and the cashier simply stood there with a clearly annoyed look on her face, offered no help or advice on what to do, and when we asked she scoffed and said "I don't know, probably try again". It was incredibly rude and unhelpful that this cashier clearly made her annoyance visible to us when we were buying 3 small items from the store. This review is solely based off the customer service of this store but I do hope this cashier learns how to not make their customers feel unwanted or inferior.
