Chef Sammy Monsour to Open a Soulful New Southern Seafood Spot in Downtown LA | Eater LA

"Opening this summer at Eighth and Grand near the Downtown Whole Foods, Joyce is the forthcoming restaurant from chef Sammy Monsour where I encountered a focus on Southern cooking while keeping sights on sustainable seafood with a raw bar and American caviar; Monsour is collaborating with Prince Riley and former Preux & Proper beverage director Kassady Wiggins, who has Southern‑flavored cocktails on deck. On the menu I found cornmeal‑encrusted Nashville hot catfish, shrimp and oyster perloo, a smoked tomahawk pork chop, crawfish hushpuppies, chilled seafood platters, and a must‑start of at least a half dozen bright, meaty oysters from Murder Point, Alabama when available paired with one of the bar’s zero‑waste cocktails by Wiggins. For warmer plates there’s the buttermilk‑marinated, cornmeal‑crusted hot catfish and Gullah Geechee‑style braised kale, and the fried‑to‑order beignets generously dusted with powdered sugar and served with a duo of sauces make one of the finest finishes in town; it’s impossible to spell Joyce without joy." - Mona Holmes

D.C. Whole Foods Stays Open Even as Company Confirms Workers Have COVID-19 | Eater DC

"Workers at the Logan Circle Whole Foods in Washington, D.C., told multiple news outlets that as many as 16 colleagues contracted COVID-19 while the store remained open without informing shoppers; customers had been lined up in a blocks-long, social-distancing queue waiting to empty shelves of organic flour, canned tomatoes, and peanut butter while employees in medical masks checked them out from behind plexiglass partitions. Reports vary: CBS affiliate WUSA9 independently confirmed six cases and later corrected an earlier anonymous claim of a dozen after the company contradicted an assertion that the store had not undergone a deep cleaning; The New York Times published a report that a worker passed a note claiming 16 confirmed employee cases; a Whole Foods text on April 13 confirmed four employee cases and said the last known case was April 9, and company representatives described “multiple team members” as infected. Whole Foods told workers the store had undergone enhanced cleanings and offered unpaid leave through April for those uncomfortable coming to work, and the company said employees at four of its five D.C. locations have tested positive." - Gabe Hiatt

I love shopping for flowers here. The flower department girl who helped me today in the morning with umbrella bouquet thank you! The flowers always fresh and she makes best bouquets! Sorry I don't remember her name but posting her photo with her consent!

I had the worst customer service experience of my life with this self-proclaimed "manager" named Yoseif. He rudely insisted that there's no way way I'd be able to get to my car parked in the Whole Foods parking lot, telling me that because the store was closed (it was 1 minute after closing time) I'd need to pick my car up tomorrow. It's so unbelievably absurd I wish I were making this up. I stopped by Whole Foods at 9:30pm to buy a few things with my wife, parking in the Whole Foods parking lot. After purchasing my items, I stepped outside, but then immediately remembered that the elevator to the parking lot is inside (right next to the entrance),. I tried to step back inside, but the worker wouldn't let me back in, telling me that Whole Foods is closed - even though I'd literally just walked out. I told him we just needed to get to our car, but he kept rudely insisting that the store is closed, we can't go inside, and that's the store policy. At this point we just wanted to go home, so I asked how we can get to our car. He told us that there's no way for us to get to our car, and that we'd need to come back tomorrow if we wanted to get our car. I said this doesn't make any sense and asked to speak to the manager, and he told me that he's the manager. I've never experienced such outrageous rudeness from any worker in my life. This man kept rudely and condescendingly lecturing us that this is store policy, and that there's no way we'd be able to get to our car. We were literally still holding the Whole Food goods we'd just bought and I even showed him the parking ticket, and he kept dismissing us and rudely repeating to us like some bully that this is store policy, you can't go back inside, you'll need to come back tomorrow to get your car. My house is 45 minutes away and we're not paying for a $80 Uber because of this bully Deputy Manager who wants to feel powerful by ruining other peoples' nights, so I kept insisting for 5 minutes (the whole time customers are walking out) until he finally gives up and lets us go to the elevator, but insisting that there are security cameras and this could get him in trouble. I'd forgotten to validate my parking ticket, but we were so exhausted and traumatized by this Yoseif claiming that our car was getting locked there all night that we decided we should probably just leave.I saw a worker in the parking lot though and asked him if it'd still be possible to validate the ticket, and he said that at this point we should just be able to leave without it. We drove to the exit, and our unvalidated ticket wouldn't work. At that point the garage door started closing, and it literally seemed we were actually getting locked in there. Thankfully though the door opened back up, I paid the $10, and left. I actually parked and spoke to another worker there who was very nice, telling them what happened, and they said that that was ridiculous, that they remembered that we were shopping there, and that we should report this. The man's name who rudely blocked us from getting to our car and tried to convince us that our car would be locked up all night was Yoseif. He is the rudest customer service worker I've ever met, has zero empathy for customers (or other humans in general it seems), and has no business being in any customer service oriented role, let alone being in a managerial role. The fact that this man was hired to a managerial role, let alone hired at all, reflects extremely poorly on Whole Foods. I hope Whole Foods will increase its hiring standards because this is a disgrace, and neither me nor my wife have ever experienced customer service this terrible in our lives. This ruined what was until then an otherwise amazing day.

I live in Seattle, but my daughter lives in DC. This is the closest Whole Foods store to her apartment. I wanted to surprise my daughter on her birthday by buying a bouquet of flowers and Chantilly cake. My daughter’s boyfriend picked them up. The staff, everyone that i talked to were wonderful. I requested the florist and she returned my call. She made a very beautiful bouquet. Just look at it! My daughter enjoyed it so much. She said it smelled so nice. Amazing staff, impressive customer service! If anyone need a bouquet, order it from this Whole Foods! The florist, she knows her stuff. This is a lot better than the bouquet you get from online florist. The Chantilly cake is also very good. Thank you, Whole Foods! Follow-up: may daughter and BF sent me a picture of the bouquet a week from her birthday. The lilies opened and filled the house with lovely smell. It was a huge bouquet. It lasted a long time so the flowers that were used were quite new and fresh. I am just truly thankful that I bought my daughter’s bouquet from this store!

I wanted to share an experience that left me very disappointed. I visited your store while sick and spent over $150 on various remedies and groceries to help me feel better. As I was leaving, two employees physically blocked my way and demanded to check my receipt, stating that they “didn’t see me check out.” I told them I was uncomfortable and asked to leave without being checked, but they insisted and acted as though this was a normal process. They proceeded to go through every item in my bag for several minutes, right in front of other customers. It was embarrassing and completely uncalled for, especially given that I had just completed my purchase properly. There was no apology or acknowledgment afterward. I’ve always been a loyal Whole Foods customer and have never been stopped or treated this way. I was shocked that while others walk out freely, I was singled out and made to feel humiliated for simply shopping. I hope this can be addressed appropriately and that staff are reminded to treat all customers with respect and discretion.

Google
You may find anything here. Amazon fresh delivery here. Easy parking🅿️ you may find even warm food ready to eat. It is interesting to note that you will not find alcool due to local regulations. From meat, fish 🐠🐟 to pastry everything you need. Vegetables very fresh. Everything well. My favorite > the olives that were amazingly good.

Yelp
I never leave reviews and just downloaded this app to say I typically come here once a week for a dry-aged ribeye. Great quality steak, and even better service. I usually see the butcher "E" and want to say he provides the best service I've received from any market. He truly listens to what you want and makes custom cuts if needed. So many butchers just brush off your requests. He's honestly the reason I keep coming back to this location. So if you see this E, thank you for your service.

Yelp
Wholefood @ P Street, Washington DC We picked up cheesecake, éclairs and apple turnover for dessert and everything tasted very good. It had variety of bakery, bread, prepared food and salads and a free parking when you purchase $10 or more. A great place to pick up a quick meal when staying in DC.

Yelp
People who work here are very rude. Yesterday a women made a huff noise as I was leaving the restrooms by the stairs cause of my American hat. Then as we were checking out a young black girl rudely told my autistic 8 year old and 15 year old to "Keep the line moving" yet no one was behind them. She was just being a bully. I told her not to talk to my kids that way and she said she will talk how ever she likes. Mind you we went back and forth and I did raise my voice because when it come to my kids I do not play. The power trip was real with the "checkout monitor" Discrimination and rude customer service is disrespectful. Maybe train your employees good customer service.

Yelp
I visited three Whole Foods in DC frequently in the past year -- P St, Florida Ave, and H St -- and this is my favorite one. It's the largest, it's the easiest to navigate, and it has the best selection. I also like the tables outside. (second best is Florida Ave). It's Whole Foods, so they focus on eclectic products that can be pricey, but they are also good quality and have good staff.

Yelp
What can I say about Whole Foods that you don't already know? This location around the corner from 14th street has a large parking garage, validate your ticket when you make a purchase.

Yelp
Great location and a very clean store. Shelves were well stocked the store had everything I needed. Picked up a sushi roll for late lunch. Well prepared and reasonably priced. Plenty of self-checks at checkout to cut down on the line. Staff were helpful and friendly. Washrooms could use some attention. Overall, a good experience.

Yelp
Good local option with lots of choices. Great hours, parking, large selection...typical stuff there. I especially like the seasonal flowers and other decorations. They had some really nice Christmas Cactus on this visit.

Yelp
Conveniently located in downtown DC. Easy to find, plenty of shopping carts and baskets. It was very easy to find all of the items we were looking for. Service personnel were friendly. No line to check out since there were plenty of check out lines as well as self service check out options.

Yelp
This a decent Whole Foods for the most part. The service is horrible though. When checking out, the cashiers don't even say anything to you.

Yelp
I love shopping at Whole! Their produce section always fresh and vibrant, and I appreciate the wide variety of organic products available. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, making my shopping experience enjoyable every time.

Yelp
This is one of the best Whole Foods Markets I've ever encountered. The produce section is fresh. The endcaps are lovely with PATCHA soap and the Three Wishes Pumpkin Spice Cereal is amazing. Employees always have a positive attitude. The ambiance is crisp and fresh!

Yelp
A normal Whole Foods (mostly high prices but some bargains with a Prime membership) except that about half the time I have gone there people are canvassing or panhandling outside the entrance. I was once asked for money at the checkout line. I would ask the store to do a better job with the customer experience.

Kathleen D.

Yelp
This store was such a gift to the community when it first opened. I hardly recognize it anymore. #1 Complaint--It is continually, frustratingly understocked, lacking basic products on any given day. #2 It used to be dependable for high quality produce and fish, not so sure about the produce anymore (still trust their fish). #3 Go to the customer service desk about a grocery issue and stand in line behind people returning Amazon products. #4 Self-checkout is the worst set-up, you almost always end up standing there waiting for a "customer assistant" to correct whatever issue the computer has flagged, it's faster to stand in line waiting for one of the few remaining check-out clerks

Kathryn V.

Yelp
I would give this place negative stars if it was possible you go to check out the people at the register act like it's their privilege that you're actually there grocery shopping they no longer put tape or rubber bands on food so it spills out inside of your bag, including pizza, hot soup, and other items and then your entire groceries are ruined, which are so expensive this place is gone from a nice high-end grocery store to the slums. Additionally they let a person in who smelled from 20 feet away and this woman proceeded to roll up her pants. Pick scabs off her legs and throw them around the sit in eating area.

Yelp
If this Whole Foods reflects the quality of other Whole Foods stores, then the entire brand has gone downhill. In the past year or so, I started going to this Whole Foods regularly because it was a bit closer than Giant. Previously, I generally avoided this store because it was crowded, and I was also used to going to the Whole Foods in Tenleytown since high school. My primary complaint is the quality of items. When I've gone several times, the russet potatoes are going bad (with a green tinge). I've seen employees just restack/organize them without throwing out the bad ones (no doubt instructions from management). And I bought a Vitamin C spray from Whole Foods last month and recently checked the label just to see it is expiring this month (when I've bought it from Yes, it expires within a year). About a month ago, I went to buy vegan butter to make a cake. When I got to the checkout area, I saw the expiration date was about a week away (May 30). I went back and dug to the back of the refrigerated area to find some butter that was expiring the end of July. Now today, I go back to buy more butter. It is now almost July, and the May 30 butter is still there! What? I've never experienced this problem at a Safeway, Giant, or Mom's (I have a few times at Yes). If I ever need to get any speciality items, I'll just go to Mom's from now on. Why are people paying high prices for low quality items? I don't know if these changes were made after the acquisition, or if these problems are just endemic to the P street location. Either way, stay away!

Yelp
Whole Foods in Logan Circle is a convenient place to Grocery shop! Good selection, friendly service, healthy food, and hours of operation that extend later in the day (10:00) than other grocery stores nearby! Pros: Well organized: this is a well organized location. It is easy to find whatever you are looking for, and everything always seems neatly stored. Helpful employees: The employees at this Whole Foods location are quick to greet you and eager to help answer any questions you have. I was looking for a particular type of seed and asked an employee if they had it-- he immediately and happily walked me across the store to show me where it was. Overall great service here! Well stocked: This store seems well-stocked, which is good to see especially in times of supply-chain issues. They always have the brands and healthy food selection that I came for! Enjoyable atmosphere: Overall, I find the atmosphere in this Whole Foods to be enjoyable. Cheery oldies throwback music is playing, the store is well-lit and a good temperature, and the store does not feel claustrophobic--the aisles and displays are well spaced. Other: Size: This Whole Foods is a bit smaller than other Whole Foods locations that I have been too, but that never seems to bother me. I think they may have less of a buffet/hot salad bar selection than other locations just because they are smaller in size, but this isn't something I mind too much.

R S.

Yelp
There are some wonderful, kind, service oriented people working at this location that I very much enjoy seeing on my frequent visits to this location, but today I unfortunately encountered someone working a checkout post who is the antithesis of these things. Rude, stopping repeatedly to chat with colleagues, seemingly intentionally slow and more. You can do better.

Yelp
While walking around after lunch, we came across Whole Foods. It was incredibly busy inside the day we visited. They really pack a lot in here. We found everything we were looking for and then some. Employees around the store are friendly and helpful. Our cashier was so sweet and had a lovely personality. Our groceries were packed up neatly. The store is neat and organized. Restrooms are upstairs, as well as some seating. There is free parking available for customers (up to 90 mins). Glad we stopped by!

Yelp
Not one of the better locations in my opinion, because there is no indoor cafe where you can sit down and eat, like at some of the other locations. Other than that, same great quality products (although some overpriced in my opinion), and good customer service...
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
My favorite Whole Foods in the area! The fruit is consistently fresh and this store is consistently restocked. I even got my Xmas tree here back in Dec which was cheaper than any at the tree farms at big hardware stores. Sometimes it might seem like the line is long but the self checkout is very efficient and moves much faster than any other grocery store (bc there are about 20 self checkouts)! I'm moving away from this neighborhood and this Whole Foods will definitely be missed!

Yelp
I am a sucker for DIY shows! You know.....The HGTV and Food Network type shows that make it look easy....get you all inspired and "amped" to accomplish almost any great home improvement or cooking feat within an hour! Unfortunately, the true cost in time, effort and money is never revealed on these shows. lol Well, yesterday was no exception. Having the day off, I got sucked into a cooking show where the feature and dish of the day was an amazing looking paella. For the short 30 minutes....I stood in a trance gazing and salivating at the TV screen. It was totally subliminal and got me inspired to cook...guess what???.... the same dish the other night. Knowing that I wanted quality ingredients, I decided to make a grocery run to the nearest Whole Foods. This Whole Foods location was the choice since it is in my neighborhood and close to home. It is not the biggest Whole Foods, with every gourmet station and specialty food bar like the ones in the 'burbs but it holds it weight to the best of them. It is small compared to some of the other locations around the DMV, but what I like about this location is that it is always well stocked....with all the right grocery items and Whole Foods basics. I came here on a busy evening and surprisingly, I found all the ingredients I needed to make....in my mind.... a "Top Chef" inspired Paella. There was a seafood department where I was able to snag a few key items like shrimp, mussels and scallops...all at a good deal. The seafood selection was fresh and the presentation very appealing too. In addition, the veggies and spices I needed (including saffron) were all stocked and available as well. And, of course!....a decent bottle of white wine to wash it all down...mandatory!! Nothing like shopping for groceries and being able to find everything you need in one place! Well surprisingly, everything I needed for under $45 bucks! Not to mention...having Amazon Prime definitely helped discount the items...and bring the "whole paycheck"....to a "thank you Lord I'm not broke" grocery bill at the register! Shhh...I will admit tho' I used basic Uncle Ben's box rice from elsewhere to add into the dish as the base to the paella. lol Needless to say, the dish came out perfect and the goods from this Whole Foods...made me shine like one ol' esteemed Michelin Star Chef in front of my friends that I invited over to feast on my creation (see pic in this review)! The Nom-noms and little conversation at the table...was an indicator of that!! To be such a small WholeFoods, this place has it all. The selection of produce is great and really fresh. Heck, the beets and carrots were so fresh...that they looked like they were just plucked out of my backyard and were still covered in dirt! Talk about farm to table....Way to go Whole Foods. lol At this locations, there's also a huge hot food/salad bar area; including cheese market, butcher, deli and bakery. There is also a Coffee and Sushi Bar which is really cool...which also would of came in handy if my dish wouldn't of worked out. The customer service is very good too and the staff always seem eager to help. The only challenge with this store is that it can get very crowded, congested in the aisle during peak times and the cashier lines are long, but they move fast. In all, a good Whole Foods location for quick grocery runs, fresh produce and hard to find, quality grocery items.
google avatar

Kathryn L.

Yelp
It's Whole Foods. An eco-friendly market nestled in Logan Circle offering something for everyone...diet restrictions, garden eaters, fish eaters, meat eaters, & everything in between. From the sidewalk, the store doesn't look as huge as it is with two levels. We came in the AM for a quick bite of Breakfast & the selection of items accommodating vast preferences was impressive. Although we didn't make it upstairs to eat in the cafe area, we sat at the "Bar on P Street". Where one can enjoy Coffee/Tea, Beer, Wine & Kombucha on Tap. The Bar is open 7A-10P (Coffee/Tea) & 9A-9P for alcohol beverages. Whole Foods is so much more than a market with beauty products, light clothing & housewares. & for Amazon Prime members there's an additional 10% off of sale items. Use the Whole Foods Market App to see the deals as well as the blue & yellow sale signage throughout the market. The Express Check Out at this location offers streamline of 10+ registers with an automated numbering system. More customers more were flowing through here opposing waiting in the regular lines. Organized store, helpful employees & a little bit for everyone...that's the "Whole" of it.

Mike T.

Yelp
Extreme Price Gauging!! We all know everything is expensive in DC but you would think you can pay the same price for a same product anywhere in DMV Whole Foods market but that's not the case if you buy organic orange juice, 16 fl oz. Whole Foods at P st NW DC price is $6.99 and Whole Foods at 12 st Arlington,Va organic orange juice price is $4.99. Whole Foods DC supervisor Darius explanation for DC stores having high prices compare to Va stores is simply the high cost of purchasing the oranges in DC. This must be the new norm.

Yelp
Almost everything in the hot bar is over cooked, even when it comes out fresh. The brown butter cookies are burnt, the wings are dry and sauceless.... Everything is well done, the Clarendon location is MUCH better, I wish they'd take a cue from Clarendon regarding the cookies, wings, and even their produce selection; I don't think I've ever seen cut papaya or ripe cut mango at this Whole Foods. I shouldn't have to travel to Clarendon to get a variety of fresh produce or well cooked foods.

Yelp
Racial- profiling is constant, disturbing and normalized. I have dark skin and dark hair- that's all they need to make their assumptions. This store is going to get sued sooner or later- they must know they live in a city of lawyers. I have been shopping at Whole Foods on P St for over 15 years. Ever since they opened the self checkout, which I use when I am there at least 2x a week, an employee is lingering right behind me. This happens any time of the day or evening I shop there. All of the kiosks will be busy and yet these mf are on my back. I have asked them to move away, to leave me alone, to follow other people and they make a bee line to me every time I head towards the kiosk. I wasn't even done ringing things up today and the lady who was hovering asked me if I had paid for XYZ items that were still in my basket. I hadn't even paid, I wasn't done- I told her to leave me alone. She looked incredulous- as if asking her to stop racially profiling me was absurd.

Yelp
Went to this Whole Foods every day when we were traveling in DC for a 4 day vacation. The have a nice selection of water, bread and all types of fresh fruits, as well as hot food! We love their brioche loaf. Got the chicken noodle soup one night and it's pretty good. The sandwich was ok.

Yelp
Is not the safest location so it's not always safe to go many junkies outside on top of that the store harreess people that go in with grocery carts or your own reusable bags will call police to follow customers,I have talked to customer service about this, and they still do it.they could hold bags and carts for customers if is a bother for them but they do but have lockers or a holding area.I nearly cried all the way home today, these people need to hold things for customers in including carts until checkout because is not cool too shop with all the anxiety and stress of why they are following you.In DC store many times do not have carts and getting groceries on foot is impossible if you have psychical injuries, back etc...Grocery carts are a life saver in DC for shopping and more sanitary .I cancel my Amazon membership due to this store treatment and only go when is necessary. The other Wholefoods in town are not so paranoid and you can shop in peace.
google avatar

Margo C.

Yelp
This is a decent Whole Foods. I especially like the deli, cold drinks, and the convenience foods...in particular, the sandwiches and packaged fresh fruit (watermelon, berries, and mangoes)...this is a place to go if you want a quick, healthy meal and also don't want restaurant or fast food. I don't usually buy meat here and go elsewhere for staples, like flour and milk. But this is a fun place to shop and to get a quick bite to eat or deli items. I've also found the cashiers here to be consistently friendly. There is a coffee bar and a parking garage with validation. I'm not at all impressed with the smallish, dimly-lighted dining area and the bathrooms (which could be a little better maintained).
google avatar

Adam D.

Yelp
There are far fewer Whole Foods locations in DC than I had expected. This was the closest one. I needed some groceries and I was hungry so I grabbed some wings off the buffet and ordered some cold salad behind the deli counter and went upstairs to eat. Free WiFi is a plus but the wings could have been hotter. In fairness, they do offer a microwave but who wants to use the public microwave? I also nabbed some baked goods. Try the chocolate chip cookie sandwich and the cake ball. Wowzers. The grocery prices are outrageous as expected and I'm pretty sure Whole Foods is no exception to charging you a DC bag fee, so BYOB.

Yelp
What would I do without you? My one stop shop for vegan-friendly noms. It was early and I was hungry. None of the restaurants were open and I am glad they were there for my stomach's needs.

Yelp
I have an unhealthy obsession with Whole Foods. I didn't need anything went I in, but I decided I wanted to compare the prices between D.C and NYC. No surprise this whole food was cheaper than the New York Whole Foods, they also had a couple of different brands that I've never seen in NYC. Of course, I ended up buying stuff that I didn't need. The store was really well lit, spacious, and comfy. I actually preferred this store to my home store in Harlem. I noticed they had lots of self checkout registers which made me a little sad.

Alexis P.

Yelp
I want to start by saying that I completely understand that people claim their pets are service animals when that is not the case. In this case, I arrived with my service animal who is certified by the ADA. I do not appear to have the physical aliments people with service animals frequently have, but that does not give them the right to pass judgement and attempt to discredit and intimidate me. As soon as I walked in, I was met with hostility from the security guard. He was not simply doing his job - he looked me up and down and attempted to tell me I can't bring my pet in, after repeatedly explaining she was a service animal. I walked in anyways, then was approached by a manager who told me no pets allowed. Again, I explained she was a service animal and he looked at me in disbelief. He then proceeded to give me a lecture on how many people walk in with pets claiming they are service animals. I understand the need to do your job, but I was shaken up by my experience. I carry around the proper ADA certification, which I am not legally required to show - when I brought this up I was asked if I printed it from a fake online site. I think this location should worry less about things like this and focus on their rat problem, as I have spotted serval, not on this trip, but on previous trips. I will not be returning to this location and recommend the staff go through training on respecting ADA rules.

Yelp
I've always loved Whole Foods and while I'm not super excited that Amazon now owns WF, I'm super excited that the prices at WF are more reasonable. This WF in DC is a real lifesaver, particularly if you're traveling for business. The hot food and salad bar (which all converts to breakfast food in the morning), plus beverages and what-not, really help the work per diem stretch because people, restaurant food in DC can be expensive!!! I had 3 meals here - dinner (pizza, salad and wine), breakfast (English muffin with egg and bacon, plus fruit) and lunch for the plane (caprese sandwich and chips, plus a cookie because cookies). All were tasty and affordable.

Yelp
I'll give this wasteful excuse of an organic market 3 stars on good favor to Whole Foods which was once a beacon of societal progression, connecting mainstream America with concepts like farm-to-table, organic, fair trade, plant based, etc... Like our monuments from antiquity, the purpose of Whole Foods has been diluted in what can only be described as a chaos of human consumerism lost in trends and societal pressure to be "woke". What remains of the once mecca for conscious eating is now a zoo of angry workers swamped with Bezos' peddle products. What used to be gourmet organic and local is now mass produced and given no care or preparation. Jeff Bezos you are the bane of my existence and I will never forgive you for ruining my favorite supermarket. I dream of the day where you have absolutely no hand in any part of my life. Until then I will make sure to shop at as many local markets and co cops as I can.

Yelp
Around 5 pm it is said that the Whole Food Market hot bar looks like a ravaged wasteland. Overcooked meats are boundless, and guests are left scrummaging for food. I luckily got a picture of this culinary mishap. When it is at its peak of quality, you can always find the typical items: meatloaf, orange chicken. You are left craving more, but it is quite an easy way to satisfy your needs for protein. I would recommend the seafood section- fresh, innovative (salmon covered in mango sauce is my favorite). While innovation may be abound, your wallet my be left in pain as the dollars here run out very quickly. - From Tales of a Whole Foods Visit

Yelp
I've been a big fan of the WF for years. Not anymore. I've started noticing that fresh produce quality is deteriorated while the prices remain unreasonably high. For instance, today I've got via online order pity looking and rotten fruit and poor quality veggies. And because return is problematic these days, I'm ending up with bad food and my money thrown away. Now I'm looking for alternative organic stores. If you prefer good quality fresh produce, It is a wrong place. At least, for now.

Yelp
Terrible selection of goods for a place touting to be high brand. The staff are uncouth, uncultured & severely ignorant of the products in the store. The food buffet items & to go food items are so bland that I would rather go back to high school to eat their cafeteria lunch. THE WORST PART WAS THAT I WAS THERE TODAY AT 7AM & THEY WERE FILLING UP THEIR MEAT SECTION AREA & IT SMELLED SO RANK, I ALMOST VOMITED.

Yelp
Convenient location for anyone in Logan circle or Dupont circle. Overall, this place has the most inconsistent customer service. Less than friendly/personable interactions with people at the cash register and other departments.

Yelp
I found a silica packet in my pizza. I'm actually not sure what it is but it clearly says "do not eat" on the front. Careless mistake on their part. If you go to this Whole Foods please don't get their pizza!

Yelp
This is a decent Whole Foods with all the basics you'd find in a Whole Foods. The food is generally fresh and things are organized. I know most Whole Foods are probably typically busy but it seems like this one is always bustling and I haven't been able to find a good slow time to grab some groceries. The lines are also always extremely long - they do move quickly most of the time but its still a wait. You're never able to really run in and grab something quickly. Also, I was there the other day and starving. I really wanted to get something from the hot/cold bars to grab n go but then my husband and I saw one of the staff that deal with food eating their own snack with the food handling gloves rolling food over to one of the other sections. I'm all for people eating their snacks and doing what they need to do to take care of themselves... but maybe take the gloves off and eat your snack or at least put fresh ones on before handling the food that people are about to buy? Perhaps I'm asking for too much here but I expect with the prices we pay at Whole Foods that folks would be a tad more cognizant of food handling guidelines.

Yelp
This Whole Foods is a couple blocks away from our apartment and it's our favorite place to go to for the hot bar and baked goods! We don't do our regular grocery shopping here because it's expensive and we do like some name brand items that WF doesn't carry. The hot bar is pretty good for a quick meal, they typically have a decent variety. I wish they switched menus more frequently, they tend to have the same items for months. If they rotated food items more often, I would likely grab food from here more. I have a dairy allergy and sometimes the menus can have a lot of dairy (mashed potatoes, creamy sauces, buttered items, etc.). Their yucca fries are amazing, though. I will always grab a few if they are there. Their bakery is great too, most of their items have ingredients and they have a decent vegan section. Not as great as some other locations, but enough that there is a variety of items to choose from.

Yelp
The place is clean, organized but too small for the amount of customers they have. I have to go there early... Jessie the cashier is amazing, I wish more people were as friendly and helpful as her. Good Job!

Yelp
This store had so many options in stock, and the most incredible staff recommending wines and charcuterie pairings!! Mara and Keith were especially helpful with everything

Yelp
First time reviewer, long-time shopper. Rarely give a one-star review, but this location [and seemingly the brand] has deteriorated since Amazon took over. Probably Common items are consistently out of stock and often for weeks at a time--dried beans, parsley, onions are common examples and today all packaged greens except for baby spinach were out of stock. It's a nightmare if you're hoping to do what the clientele of a grocery store does--weekly shopping, meal planning, making lists. On the topic of clientele, if you still like to pick out your own perishables, be ready to dodge a growing cohort of clueless, Amazon prime delivery contractors. While it's not their fault (the whole system is flawed, why can't they use a warehouse?), they are frequently confused, take up all available seating for in-store dining, and make it nearly impossible to use an elevator if you need one. On the topic of elevators, if you do weekly groceries and need to drive, they now require you validate your parking. Today I sat in two traffic jams in the garage upon entry and exit because some poor soul forget their ticket to exit. While looking to reduce non-client parking, offering hourly parking seems to actively encourage those who would otherwise not enter it to use it. Fair game if they pay, right? For two major holidays in 2019 key ingredients or entrees had to changed at our home last minute because the meat or vegetables purchased ended up being at the end of their shelf-life. Was never an issue in the past and I'm pretty maniacal when it comes to condition of meat and produce I buy. Finally, this used to be a favorite of those who like quality produce, certain imports and health conscious brands. While I can now buy an Alexa there, I see the aforementioned things decreasingly available. Can't wait until the DC Wegmans opens. Or maybe Giant/Safeway can keep upping their game?

Yelp
This place has gone down hill ever since the Amazon acquisition. The produce is much worse, the seafood deals much rarer, the paid parking much more expensive (if god forbid you have to drive here). Everything about this place has gotten worse - all to extract more money for their Amazon parent company. The staff all seems overworked and underpaid. It feels embarrassing to shop at this place when you could be supporting local grocers (Each Peach, Yes! Organic, Streets, etc).

Yelp
I've been coming here for years whenever I am in town for work. This trip, my hotel was only 3 blocks away so I came here everyday for a week. Good eats. As with most Whole Foods visits while traveling, the fresh food buffet is my target destination for a meal that is reliably delicious and quick and portable - especially if I don't want to eat it in store, but perhaps somewhere outside or just back at my hotel. The patio tables here on the P street sidewalk are nice when the weather is good. The food bars are a vegetarian's paradise. I love that you can just throw whatever you want into a box, pop on a lid, and call it good. It's your own little food treasure. Nobody knows what you got, no judging, and no need to stay confined to any one dish or even one type of cuisine. Mashed potatoes with noodles and an egg roll? Sure. Aloo Gobi with carrots and french fries? Why not. Salad with a few tator tots and cheese on top? No problem! Arugula with watermelon and blackberries? Yes please. Rice with cheesy cauliflower and wasabi peas? Shh, it's our little secret. The combinations are endless. You do you. The produce section is generally well stocked, though overpriced. I avoid most of the packaged food in the middle of the store, but sometimes peruse the crackers or chocolates or grab a bottle from the wine section. The one thing I hate about this place is the crush of people at dinnertime and ridiculously long snaking lines. They still haven't figured out how to manage these crowds. There are tons of lanes (20+, both regular grocery checkout lines and "express" lines for 20 items or less). It doesn't really matter where you go. The lines are long regardless, and often the express lines are longer than the regular ones. They started a new 4-color coded system that is supposed to increase efficiency but I really haven't noticed a difference. The neighborhood WF back home never has this problem. My advice would be to avoid the 5-8pm hours and everything is much more tame. I really wish there were a special check-out counter for people ONLY getting the weighed salad/soup/hotfood bars. Most often, that is all I am getting. And yet, I still have to wait in one of the really long lines for just my 1 little recyclable box to be weighed. Please, management, for the love of your food and everyone who wants to eat it ASAP, consider this idea. Maybe the food counter over by the prepared salads and pizza and sushi could handle this? Or the coffee counter that is usually not so busy at the dinner rush hour? Or maybe one of your four designated colors could be for "extra express" weighed food only customers? There's got to be a way. Be creative. You can do it. Make everyone happier. Thanks for considering!

Yelp
I must say I am a whole food lover. And happy there is one right next to where I stayed for the last few months. It is is big, a lot of fresh food and they keep the store clean all time. Like some other Whole Foods, pricing are higher comparing to other stores, but at the same time they have good merchandise and good food. Another good thing: there is almost always a cashier with no line. If there is a line they will probably open a new one. So will end as I started: love while foods. Wish prices were not as high.

Yelp
Took like 20 minutes to pay... I was 2nd in line and the workers just standing around trying to figure out who's going on break next... Won't be back
