Is It Safe to Eat at Restaurants During the Coronavirus Pandemic? | Eater

"A self-serve hot food station where customers handle shared serving utensils; experts advise avoiding this type of setup during outbreaks because utensils may be touched by many people and coronaviruses can survive on surfaces for hours or days. Having staff serve food instead reduces the number of people touching utensils, and the close proximity common at busy self-serve stations increases risk of respiratory-droplet transmission. If encountering this setting is unavoidable, rigorous hand hygiene before eating and after touching shared surfaces is essential." - Jenny G. Zhang

This Whole Foods location in West Bloomfield Michigan, is "Absolutely Wonderful"! My Elderly Parents and I are very huge fans of Organic Foods and Meats. Whole foods has a large selection of "Everything"! This location is always clean, the employees are both friendly and helpful. Amazon Prime Members receive special discounts throughout the store on many items. Amazon items bought from the website can be returned at their return hub in the store, which is very convenient, and those employees are terrific also.

The water aisle is never stocked. I asked an employee and they went in the back and got me what I was looking for, why are you not stocking the shelves though? Walking around the store, so many shelves are completely empty

Google
I've never been to this store before, I pictured it more spacious and clean then it was. Why the tables in front of the registers? Shelves weren't stocked and I couldn't find several items. I purchased grapes that were all mushy, gave them to the birds. I won't be back , very disappointed.

My first visit to this Whole Foods Market location. I usually visit the one on Mack Ave. in Detroit. The store was clean and well-kept, which made for a pleasant shopping experience. While the aisles are a bit narrow, everything was organized neatly. I did have some difficulty finding a few items, but the store offers a decent selection overall. The staff was friendly and approachable. One thing to note is that the Amazon counter for pickups and returns is located right next to the self-checkout area, which can make that section feel congested. I’d say this store is a good option for quick trips or when you're looking for something specific. I’d return if I couldn’t find what I needed at another store.

Google
Not great but not bad either. One of the lesser appealing whole foods you can go to but I don't frequent whole foods often only for select specialty items like the caldera milk, bakery or select items they carry that others don't. I will note they do run out of stuff a lot and are sometimes slow to restocking

Google
This Whole Foods is a decent size, not overwhelming. It's a solid choice for stocking up on healthy groceries for everyday needs. As an Amazon Prime member, I appreciate the perks.

Google
I didn’t check out everything but they had many items to choose from. Again there eggs were way over priced. Like $15 dollars for dozen eggs. The note said do to shortage. No one else is this over priced. Double of other stores!!! They do have great staff and all were very helpful.

Google
I liked the selection here, but I read online that their organic rotisserie chicken had no other ingredients, however, when I drove out there it has a salt and pepper seasoning on it. I did enjoy being able to try some of their cheese before buying.

Yelp
I usually only stop in for their bakery and to grab one of their cakes for various occasions. They are known for their berry Chantilly cake and when I saw that there was a mango yuzu chantilly cake (which also happened to be on sale and 16% off at the time) I just had to grab one! It's more of a dense cake and not as fluffy or light as I was expecting but it had a nice citrus flavor to it from the yuzu and fragrant mango flavor as well. It was also not too sweet which is how I prefer my cakes.

Yelp
Whole Foods is more than just food! I was happy to find out that Whole Foods operates as an Amazon return center. It gives you two options: 1) Assistance with an employee at customer service or 2) A self-service Amazon return kiosk. Both are located at the front of the store across from the cash registers. The kiosk is very user-friendly with instructions on the screen. Next to the kiosk are clear self-sealable bags to put your items in before dropping your item(s) down the chute. Once completed, the screen displays an announcement that you will receive a confirmation email. Confirmed. For a fast errand, there was no waiting at the kiosk. This was a win for me!

Yelp
They have finally got their act together and have all the things you expect when you stop at this chain. The small desserts were fiiled. Hot pizza choices looked eatable. Hot and salad bar full. For once they were out of the vegan donuts were rank up there with some of the best donut shops. While it is still really too small for the area, it had stuff that it seems not to have the last 3 years when I stopped. You can't beat the price and quality of the fresh flowers. The service is great and they even keep enough check out lanes open while having self serve check outs (like I would use that with these prices and I like to keep people employed.) I will be back more often.

Yelp
This is a nice Whole Foods. I've been coming here for a long time - the earliest review is from 2009 but I want to say it opened before that. Stopped by here today because I had some free CAULIFLOWER coupons to use. I got two margherita pizzas and one veggie one; they're $9.49 usually which is a bit pricey, but WF isn't called "Whole Paycheck" for nothing ... I felt weird only getting free groceries so I also bought some chocolate-covered oat milk ice cream (novelty) for $4.99 on sale. The cashier and I chatted about cauliflower pizza and she was very pleasant, as well. My boyfriend lives 5 minutes from this WF so I'll be back at some point.

Yelp
The store is so trashy compared to what it was like 5 or 6 years ago. Seems like when Amazon bought it it went downhill fast.

Yelp
Hot food is gross here (dry and expensive), except pizza. I tried it so you don't have to waste money on it. Everything else is just your typical whole food. Staff is always helpful, everything looks beautiful especially the bakery section.

Sam K.

Yelp
Worst Whole Foods I have ever had the displeasure of shopping at !!! Poorly stocked, hot food dried out, dirty shelves, and employees who don't give a rat's ass !

Yelp
I decided to stop here to get some refreshments on the way home. I was feeling some things sweet and fruity or some thing green with a little hint of sweetness. I grabbed a few lemons, banana and some rice as well. Just picked up a few items on the way home. The service here is always great and friendly. Prices are a little higher than other stores, but you do get better quality items, usually.

Yelp
I went there two weeks ago to buy organic coffee they didn't have it they promised me they would have it next day , so I went next day and still didn't have it , the told me check again on Friday , and still no coffee , I was disappointed with staff for playing me around .

Yelp
Update: This location seems to have taken the feedback seriously because the difference is night and day. The carts are always restocked now. The aisles are almost completely restocked each time I go. Produce area has fresh produce. Salad bar is back and stocked. There is a new self-checkout area with about 8 kiosks, in addition to the regular check out lanes. The employees at the self-check out area always have a good attitude, take empty baskets out of the way, replace brown bags, and are quick to assist when needed. The self-check out kiosks also use new touchless palm reader scanners ("Amazon One") as an option to save a payment card at check out so I don't need to carry my wallet with me anymore! I am so glad to be able to handle my own groceries stress-free and be certain my Prime membership and 10c/reusable bag discounts are being applied properly each time. The prices have been increasing steadily unfortunately, but their organic/pasture raised selection is still great and they have frequent discounts so I still stop by occasionally. Their parking lot is a lot more packed, even in the evenings, so I'm assuming other customers like the positive changes as well. On a side note their returns area is a bit more difficult to navigate. They have a new drop off bin to the left of check-out that is not always available to use, and their returns area worker on the other side seems new and needs a bit more training on how to handle misdelivered packages and trade-in items. I don't come in frequently for returns so this isn't a major issue for me but it is worth noting.

Yelp
This review is about the pizza only. I don't know if the other pizzas have this same problem, but the pepperoni pizza never has enough sauce. It's a shame because it's already a good slice of pizza, but it could be taken to the next level with enough sauce.

Yelp
So much to see and buy at this location. The new layout includes an expansive salad bar, more hot food in the self serve and new choices behind the counter. The pizza station has totally been redone, and is now self-serve. I would suggest some type of guard to catch pizza that customers move about. Other than that. The pizza is now so much easier to grab and move on! Be sure to check out the Mochi, little frozen ice cream bites. Yum! So impressed with the new paint colors and signage. The choices are endless at WholeFoods and I am always able to find what I want. I picked up a bunch of beautiful kale today, so pretty and organic! The price was very reasonable, under two bucks! I also bought a meal kit, like the Hello Fresh ones...hope it's good, it looks great! I grabbed some plantains from the hot bar- amazing as usual. Yum. I also picked up a beautiful piece of beef shank, so meaty, red and with a nice bone attached...gonna make some nice soup. Let me tell you it's not easy to find that specific cut of meat around here. So yeah, great job WF! The only complaint I have is to bring over the plastic cutlery to the food bar. Currently, the forks and knives are all the way over in the eat-in area! What if you are not eating in (more likely) and what if you have knee and hip issues. Please make this less of a hassle. Thanks! The wine/coffee bar is gone, and there is more room for seating in the eat in area. Might I suggest a nice green wall or water art between the Restaraunt and the rest of the store? I might eat there if it didn't feel so open and exposed - but, other than that, the seating and chairs are good. Smoothie and juice bar would be good - just sayin! I do love this store, so I hope to see them here for along time to come.

Yelp
Very expensive if you don't have the Amazon membership. I will not be returning to shop.

Yelp
Thank you, Whole Foods, for making this Thanksgiving a success for our family. We ordered our complete dinner for 4 online, picked it up at the arranged time, it was ready as promised and staff could not have been nicer. The turkey, which was fully cooked, came out great when warmed. Sides were plentiful and delicious. Price was right. We'll be back!

Yelp
This is the location I go to the most, and I usually find what I'm looking for. Recently, they've increased their vegan product selection, and I really appreciate that. They have all the Beyond meats and more than a few great vegan cheese options. The bakery and deli are superb and everyone always raves about their cakes. They're seriously delicious and surprisingly affordable and beautiful. They also have a nice bulk section and pre-made foods to grab and go. I do think the store is laid out a bit oddly - there always seems to be something I can't find. Everyone is always very nice and willing to help, but it can be hard to find specific things. And while you would think Whole Foods is more like a health food store, it's really not. Their supplements are pretty pricey, and their selection of health staples can be lacking. They also always seem to be out of pantry items like paper goods, but maybe that's just 2020.

Yelp
Seafood / fish department does not know how to cut fish - there is fish guts/ entrails still in the fish - basic expectation is that guts should be cleaned out but it's not Cutting fish is not like slicing bread - please take note Either do it properly or don't sell fish

Yelp
first time going....was disappointed left & right. drove 30 min to expect a flower shop and someone to make our bouquets ya know...flowers more than sucked what "shop" it was a row of dead flowers overpriced. NEXT, no coffee shop inside but was told that they do have one. was sad about the sucky flowers so walked around it's very much an aesthetic inside the grocery area very clean rows, we saw they had cupcakes...$4 for something I could've made taste the same with a $1.19 box cake mix. NEXT, ordered pizza, odd that us customers can just pick it up and nobody with gloves can but okay it's fine this is why covid happened once! the pizza looked fresh and it was not the sauce tasted cheap the cheese garbage and the pepperonis were hard enough for me to believe it was there since opening. definitely was disappointed and if I want that I'd date a man but instead a store did it better today.

Yelp
WORST WHOLE FOODS EVER! Employees are clueless! They just hire ANYONE. Got to check out and decided I did not want anything and the cashier removed it from the bag and NEVER removed it from my receipt and STILL charged me for it. Mind you this place is EXTREMELY expensive. I was wondering why my total was so expensive and decided to check it once I got to my car. Thank God I did. Had to go all the way back in and wait in a customer service line JUST FOR THEM TO REFUND THE WRONG AMOUNT. Apparently the initial cashier weighed the item I decided not to purchase wrong, which made the purchase total higher. When I went to get my refund, they had to reweigh it and it came out LESS, so they literally just gave me that amount. Now i'm out of an additional few bucks for absolutely no reason and was not fully refunded for an item I never even got to take home, due to some idiot, illiterate employees that cannot do their job or simple math. RIDICULOUS! On top of that, the sushi I got from here was not fresh at all, tasted very hard and old and was absolutely disgusting. I felt sick for two days after eating it.

Yelp
Discovered the egg salad was due to expire today and the chicken salad expires tomorrow. Won't buy food here again

Yelp
Can this location be any worse?? YES!! It's as bad as ever. Out of so many things. Had to ask one of the employees, why? The answer I got was "a staffing problem". I'm not so sure I buy that. It's obviously very neglected while the Rochester, Birmingham, Ann Arbor locations are beautiful. Why don't they have staffing problems?? Hmmm...

Yelp
I've never liked this location. The organization of items is very very odd. The workers aren't very helpful at all. I came in today because I was in the area. I had some trouble finding things because of the organization in the store. I did purchase some pumpkin spice sandwich cremes (basically like oreos, but healthier) and they were amazing. I highly recommend. I am mostly leaving my review because of my confusion at checkout. The girl bagged most of my items (and didn't bag the bag even though it was heavy, but whatever). She left my milk out and a bag in front of it. I assumed that bag was full with items, I didn't realize she put everything in one bag. Because I noticed that she was moving on to the next customer, I asked her if I could please have a bag for my milk and I could just bag it myself. I looked in the bags and I realized that one was empty. So she was just going to leave my milk out (with an empty bag beside it) and move on to the next customer without even telling me. This was very odd and confusing. I have never encountered this at any grocery store really. I wouldn't mind bagging my own groceries, I usually prefer self check out anyway when it's offered, but this experience was just very odd. She literally began bagging the other guys items. When I realized that one of the bags was empty I just put my milk in there and left. I'm still very confused by it. This definitely would have never happened at any other location.

Yelp
Salad bar, pizza bar, prepped foods all close at 5:00, even though they are open until 9:00. 5:00 is when people get off work and are hungry. Guess you guys missed something.

Yelp
Until Amazon purchased it, this was an excellent store. The employees were happy, friendly, seemed to love their jobs. Now the place is dead. They remodeled the front to accommodate Amazon lockers, which has somehow had a dreadful impact on mood. They took away the cafe, which was a huge attraction for many of us shoppers. It would bring me there when I wasn't especially looking to shop, and it kept me there when I just came for a few things. A wonderful resource to bring my kids after school to grab them something to eat while they did homework and daddy and mommy had a little tipple, and of course we always left with unintended groceries. The bar enabled employees and staff to get to know each other. There was a "cheese guy" and a "wine guy" and a "beer guy", but they all seem to be gone now. The pizza slices are now self-service, and if you dare ask for a slice to be put into the oven, the clerk says, "go put it in the microwave" in the now-dead area where the vivacious bar used to be. When I ask any question about improvement (such as, "Why not label the 12 cheeses that will be 1/2 price during the famous Twelve Days of Christmas Sale?"), I get the same answer from every employee: "We cannot make any changes to anything, we can only do what corporate tells us to do." The only problem that I used to have with this place was that the bakery did not post ingredients for the fresh bread, unlike many other WF locations around the country. Now that problem has gotten even worse, extending to baked goods displayed around the store. Whole Foods was built on ingredients, but now they hide their ingredients even more than they used to. I suppose one reason is that they put refined sugar and canola oil in so many of their products. One thing is clear: WF no longer cares. They are owned by a massive goods distributor that knows nothing about food or food culture, and doesn't care to know about it. If you want food from WF, just order from Amazon, or better yet, search for local places that promote food culture, including fun grocery shopping experiences. For those of us who desire an exciting grocery experience in this part of town, let's hope they plan to shutter this dated dead zone for replacement by a new store, one that includes a cafe, figures out how to hide the cold, peopleless Amazon units, and of course remembers to respect pizza.

Yelp
This rating is for the Altimonte Florida store. It's gorgeous - well stocked - wonderful customer service!! I was in the West Bloomfield store a year or so ago and it was AWFUL. Now that I am back in Michigan, and miss the 360 frozen salmon fillets, I will try the WB store again. I will post my opinion after that visit. Well, went to the WB Whole Food store - though the store looks 100% nicer -cleaner- there are still issues! I purchased a pkg. of 360 salmon fillets which show in the store app at $23.99. The price in the store is $25.99!! Also, as the last time I was here, there are no packaged bagels - though they are on the app - 6/$5.99. Instead I had to take 6 from the self serve cabinet and paid $7.50 for them - though I mentioned to the cashier that packaged they were $5.99. As far as I'm concerned - I wasted $3.51!! I'll look else where and be happy to get back to my Altimonte store!!!!

Yelp
I've been stopping here recently for lunch a couple times a week and I have not been disappointed yet! They have so much to choose from! Along with being a fantastic market, they offer so many foods you can take to-go, or even eat there in their cafe area. Today I spotted some vegan tamales that I can't wait to try :) I usually get a really bomb salad from their salad bar, sushi, a couple of items from their hot bar or pizza. Today I was feeling mac and cheese, but if I'm being honest, I'm always feeling mac and cheese.. But! To be sure, I looked around a bit at all the food I had to choose from. The pizzas looked nice today, especially this veggie multigrain one that was very colorful. Their prepackaged salads looked good but they never with enough cheese for me. They had a couple sandwiches that looked interesting, one was a smoked mozzarella with pesto and tomato, and the other was a cranberry tuna salad. They also have to-go cups with chicken nuggets and dipping sauce, mac and cheese croquettes with ranch, fettuccine/chicken fettuccine alfredo bowls and adult "lunchables" too!

Yelp
Over the years we have shopped at many Whole Foods stores. This one is a disaster. The produce department is undersized, and quality uneven. Soggy bags of carrots were sitting in water puddled on the shelf. The fish department case had some fish that looked nice, next to fish that looked discolored and old. Meat department small, and it looked like the meat was from older animals, with heavy grey bones. Some of the meat looked old. Ground meat looked freshly made, but how to trust it with old cuts of meat next to it in the case. The dairy department was a disaster. The milk was warm. Levels of stocking were poor. At 9 am there were half empty shelves. The shelves themselves were filthy, with dried crusted spilled milk everywhere. The dairy shelves had clearly not been cleaned in at least several days if not weeks. Packaged cheese looked relatively well maintained. Bakery, looked ok. We got a few produce and sealed packaged items, no meat or fish! And felt like we were escaping. The cashier was very nice and efficient. There must be a longstanding systematic failure of management at this store for the appalling failures of hygiene and quality control. Recommendation: go to any other Whole Foods store rather than this one.

Jill M.

Yelp
This store has always been the worst of any store I have shopped at in the country. Very small, strange layout of products, and empty shelves. The apothecary is good though. Needs a larger produce section and more aisles with more variety of food. Long wait lines Deli section is so small and does not carry half of what the other stores carry. The hot bar is better now that covid is over but shuts down way too early in the evening. Some people only come in the evening. Why cant they find a better location and expand it?

Yelp
After hearing all the talk about Whole Foods I had to finally go in and see what all the buzz was about. After walking through the store I actually was a bit underwhelmed as I thought I would find a serious competitor to Plum Market which is the gold standard in my opinion for upscale markets in this area. On the plus side a lot of organic foods to choose from, very nice fresh premium cuts of meat, large assortment of prepared foods and a good bakery. On the so so side, wine selection was not as expansive as Plum Market and was missing the ratings and Sommeliers picks/feedback you find in Plum Market, no Zingerman breads, Produce/fruits did not seem as fresh as Plum Markets, and Deli section was not up to Par with Plum Market either. Overall this place was just OK to me and not worth the premium they charge for their products. Based on my trip to this store I will continue to give Plum Market my business in this area.

Yelp
I usually avoid all stores on Orchard Lk Rd since I don't like heavy traffic. It was well worth it to stop in here before heading to DTW for some healthy snacks and beverages. Super clean, very well stocked and fresh everything! I noticed the beautiful ambient lighting not that dim warehouse kind. Produce team member was very helpful and I just had a very good overall experience dealing with every employee I spoke with. I especially liked the checkout gal. She kindly reminded me to get up during flight and move around for circulation, very caring! I bought a ton of stuff including a tuna wrap (delicious), cherry granola, organic yogurt and lots of fresh fruit and veggies for my trip. I felt so good and healthy after I ate all my stuff throughout the day and I didn't get hungry on my flight. Much better service than the one in Troy. Way better. Plus it was not quite as crowded. Very well managed store. Not really too bad on the wallet since I managed to catch a lot of specials.

Yelp
Love Whole Foods as a whole! The gentleman in the meat department, sweet older guy can't remember his name, is SO helpful and friendly. Always answers any of my questions regarding prep and storage. He even walks the meat around the side of the display to directly hand it to me. (It really is in the detail when it comes to customer service). The food in every department is outstanding, and customer service as a whole is great. Only complaint is the quality/variety of flowers. I like to pick up my mother and I flowers (separate bouquets as we don't live together, and have different tastes), and every time I look at their selection it isn't anything great or outstanding. Friendly advice, bring in more variety and better quality flowers!

Yelp
I've shopped at the WB location for years and since the Amazon purchase, will unlikely continue to do so. Produce is not as fresh and they have cheapened the quality of the fruits. They fail to rotate merchandise and i have found myself having purchased out of date dairy items and now when inspect it still find merchandise that hasn't been rotated. I really like all of the employees and I've voiced my concerns and they have acknowledged it and apparently hear it From others. Too bad.

Yelp
I liked this Whole Foods. I will admit though I was over the top happy with my freebie totebag for checking in, so that does shade my review. Tip to other businesses, free anything puts you ahead of the ratings curve in my book. I know Whole Foods is overpriced but sometimes I just care less than others. They have a great setup here. Everything is attractively displayed and the store's layout is fairly logical. I love the sampling and the fact that things are super fresh. Let's face it, I like that I do not have to cook because you do it for me. Today we got some salad bar items to eat later for dinner and we had no complaints. Plenty of variety and everything tasted great. Perfect for people like my husband and myself who have opposite tastes and food needs to just make our own creations. I had gotten some bread at the Stage Deli and between our lunch leftovers, our salad creations and that bread we were quite happy campers. We will do this again sometime, probably closer to home though ;)

Yelp
After visiting Whole Foods in Florida, my husband and I became so used to a fresh, hot bar with many food options. Decided to visit this location since it is about 25 minutes from where we live (closest location). They only have one "aisle" of hot foods on a Sunday afternoon. Disappointed to say the least since we had expected to get to-go meals for a few meals worth. We even overheard an employee say Sundays are always busy. Then why the limited food choices in the hot bar area? They didn't even have any rotisserie chicken. Not because they were sold out, but they simply did not offer it on this particular day. ‍ The pizza is self-serve, but for $3.75 per slice that is steep, even for WF. Was also looking for chicken dumpling soup which is delicious is Florida locations, but again they did not have this here. Settled for chicken tortilla soup. While they may have healthier options, the prices sure are higher than other markets in the area. To top off our negative experience, when we went to checkout, we expected the cashier to ask whether we were eating the soup there or to go. She didn't even acknowledge us - simply scanned the items and told us the total. She could have cared less about customer interaction. Will never visit this location again!

Jamie S.

Yelp
This is for prepared food. Value: pizza: 5/5; most other: 3/5 (theyre exp); veg rolls: 3/5; rotis. chix: 4/5; deal on Fridays for prime. Taste: Everything tastes great but their deli food is very exp. A broccoli salad might cost $4 for 1/2C. The pizza is 5/5 - I really havent found better pizza anywhere. The crust is thin except edges that are cooked in a very hot oven (Italian style). Very airy. Cheese has depth of taste. Its great. Rotis. chix: they do various flavors and its usually done very well. Veg rolls: I opened one up and there was prob 1 TBL food inside a very large roll!!!

Yelp
I tripped and knocked over a bunch of cereal. So I guess this review is more premised on the durability of the cereal boxes. 4 stars. Parking is great when you have had run out due to embarrassment.

Yelp
I am a relatively new customer to Whole Foods and I must say that this store has a nice overall feel. I have never had to wait too long in a checkout line, the store is clean and pleasant smelling, including the dining and bathroom areas and they have some very unique and delicious products. Their hot food bar is delicious and always has something I want to eat. I have had roasted balsamic root vegetables that were very good, delicious macaroni and cheese, a tasty beef bourgignon and other things that are served hot, well seasoned and ready to eat. Their cold salads are also very good and this is one of my favorite places to buy pre-made tuna salad. They have several preparations and they are always fresh and delicious, even though they seem to have stopped making my favorite variety, which was their lemon dill tuna salad (Yummy!) Yes, their products are expensive, but they are good quality. Their fresh squeezed orange juice alone is worth the trip when you compare it to any pre-packaged competitor. This isn't a place for me to do all of my regular grocery shopping...but it is a wonderful place to go treat shopping and enjoy their unique and diverse offerings.

Yelp
In an effort to take better care of myself and my family, I have been shopping here much more frequently than before. I love this place! There are a lot of options that are generally better for you, making the guess work easier for those who check. I read the labels of their brands, especially with packaged items, and find that whatever is seemingly "chemical" is also explained. That is not something I have been able to find in Kroger or Meijer. They have an excellent meat counter with so many options; most of them are grass-fed and/or organic. They also have a lot of vegetables and fruits I don't find in other stores, also organic and/or local grown. My only complaint is how much of the produce they put out. Sometimes all the tomatoes will be rather soft and that is all they'll have. If I don't use them as soon as I get home, they'll start molding. The blessing and curse of organic food I guess... The prepared foods counter has delicious food ready to take home. There is a great variety to choose from, something for everyone in your family to enjoy. There is a large bakery with fresh bread, cakes, and desserts. Their fruit cake has been the go-to birthday cake for our family parties. I also buy the fresh French bread to serve with cheese for wine nights with friends. Everything tastes fresh, well made, and GOOD! The prices are a bit higher than what you'll see in your "typical" grocery store, but the quality meets the price. I taste the difference with the food I buy from here and I'm lucky to have one fairly close by. While I can't control what type of ingredients are in the food I eat at restaurants, I can definitely control where I eat and what I prepare at home. I encourage and recommend shopping here for your groceries.

Yelp
I'm so irritated. I had a busy day so I put in a pick up order for this store & when I get there they're like "Oh sorry we accidentally gave it to someone else"... How? Don't u check the names?? And they offered no kind of compensation for all of my wasted time. Just "call Amazon to issue your refund". I call them & they're no help at all so I had to do the refund myself. This location is horrible & unorganized

Yelp
I've been shopping here for as long as I have lived here. No joke, my immigration attorney is right across the street. Going to Whole Foods used to be like going to Disney World for me. Being used to "clean" foods, I had a tough time adjusting for a while because many things tasted very artificial to me in the US (with good reason). Here I could find less-processed and better tasting/better for you alternatives. Especially as a vegetarian, all their meat substitutes made me happy. Now, with many mainstream stores picking up their organic/natural game, smaller stores like Fresh Thyme popping up all over the place and my trusted Amazon, I really don't have much of a need to shop at Whole Foods anymore. But you know, I also don't need yet another lipstick or purse, and somehow that keeps happening too. So off to this WF I go, at least once every few weeks, to coincide with my waxing appointments up the road. And every time I go I become less enchanted. To me, Whole Foods has evolved into a specialty shopping experience only. Like, really very specialty; natural skin care products, Bach flower remedies, supplements & vitamins (great selection)- only. What was once considered "out there"; gluten free options, vegan cheese, natural no-hormones added organically fed pasture raised chicken breast.. yea, you can get that stuff at many places now.

Yelp
This Whole Foods is the worst Whole Foods I have ever been to. It use to be great. It has gone screaming down hill in the past year. The hot bar is always empty and burnt up. The soups are always empty and burning. The salad bar is not fresh and nobody seems to care. I use to go for lunch and dinner at least twice a week. I will never go back. It is absolutely horrible. Plum market up the street is always fresh and they refill everything before it is disgusting and the pot is burning. It's really sad.

Yelp
I used to never go to Whole Foods - it is expensive and too corporate for my blood...or so I thought. The corporate part could be true, but I gotta say it is not as expensive as I assumed. After a doctor told me organic meat and milk for my kids and mom told me that organic milk is "cheapest" at Whole Foods, I had to check it out. At WF, the milk's normal price is the same as larger stores' sale prices - $5.99ish per gallon. Then I started to poke around. As a long-time vegan, I am always on the hunt for new products...especially now that there is a lot of new stuff on the shelves. I bought a cheese called chao for $7 at another retailer a few days before my WF visit. It is a really, really good cheese (if you are vegan, it is way better than daiya, ew). ANYWAY, at Whole Foods...$4. The Field Roast products are all $2+ cheaper. I can't speak to the gelato or most anything else in the store, but what I can say is if you are vegan give it a try. Also I think they have nutritional yeast on tap (vegans know what it is...). Thumbs up.

Yelp
Wheeww I love Whole Foods. They usually have whatever strange item I'm looking for to accomplish a new recipe. Unfortunately, whenever I go in for my items I leave out with much more than intended smh. The prices are a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Lines stay pretty short. No complaints here.

Yelp
I like the selection of yogurt, and the salads are always so fresh. The Caesar salad is my favorite. Organic pepper-jack cheese, muesli, liquid protein, this store has everything you need. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Yelp
I have shopped at this Whole Foods since it opened. I am so disappointed in them. I have ordered Cowgirl Steaks from them when they are listed for sale. Every time I am charged 9.95 for delivery as they have stopped using Shipt or InstaCart. And I get the items needed to make a full cart. Last cucumbers I got actually had mold on them. No one to complain to now like InstaCart who would refund. I believe they must just sell them to those who go into store. 83, can't drive so that option is gone. Not a happy camper.

Yelp
Can Whole Foods please do something about that Instacart and personal shoppers that plow their way through the produce area and isles. For a company that so big on social distancing and pro vaccines it's awfully crowded in the grocery store. Maybe limit the number of personal shoppers that can come in the store at once. I know they are working but they are very rude and inconsiderate of other shoppers.

Yelp
I'm so sick of the empty shelves. Every time I go there, at least half of the items on my list are out of stock. The quality of produce is awful, often limp, wilted, sometimes even with mold. The new store is a huge disappointment. The people that work there very friendly and helpful yet in a system no longer focused on the customer, I know there is only so much they can do.

Yelp
My three stars go to Sarah at the Service Desk, Stacy in Whole body and Chrissy in Produce they are bright young ladies that I have learned an abundance on various products. These ladies keep me in the loop on new products or ordering an item not carried in house. Since 2008, I have been a WF shopper and I must say I have outgrown this grocery store. What do I mean by outgrown? Kroger or Meijers no longer are my primary sources for vittles. Nothing against the stores but I have multiple food allergies (peanuts, eggs and most dairy) and it can be quite a challenge finding food that will not kill me. I started shopping at WF for the selection they provide for persons (living in a food bubble) like me. BUT. BUT. BUT They carry an abundance of farm raised meat products. The selection of wild caught sea life is lacking and has been over the years. I have yet to find free range chicken or turkey at this location. Another downside, the selection of organic fruit and vegetables has whittled away to conventional (bleeech). They will introduce a new item for a few rotations and stop carrying it. sad face. One reviewer mentioned due to the 365 brand taking over. Most of the 365 brand is made in facilities that use other products that I am allergic to, I wish they made more "dedicated facility" products. Third downside, the international section is devoid of variety. For international and eclectic food, I roll one mile north to Plum Market.

Yelp
This place is totally overrated. I can't believe all the 4-5 stars on here. First of all - I love organic food, and totally believe in organic farming and products with quality ingredients. So I it's not that I don't know how to appreciate good food or a well organized store - it's purely the fact that everything in Whole Foods can be found somewhere else for much much less. Take organic milk and eggs for example, these are what economists call homogeneous goods - as in organic milk between different brands are not different. Now, Kroger's sells organic milk for around $2.79 a half gallon - which is cheaper than any other place. Why would you go to Whole Foods to pay more? Whole Foods also has their 365 brand - which not all of those products are even organic and is definitely not better quality than say generic Walmart crap on many levels! If you really compare the ingredients - they often use inferior ingredients against the other brands, like wet cat food for example. The Newmann's brand used whole pieces of chicken, fish, etc. while 365 used animal by-products. I'm not saying Whole Foods is evil - just that people think it's so amazing because of how the store is set up, when in reality, you can get the same stuff from many other places, you just might have to go to 2 stores instead of 1 for everything, but you save a lot more. As far as their paper bags that someone mentioned - if you care about what your bag is, why not bring your own to be truly green? Whole Foods desserts are also terrible. All of them look very pretty, but taste extremely sugary rather than nice rich milk creams and true chocolates. The only thing that's still tolerable for me there is their fruit tarts - but I've found way cheaper at Shatila Bakery in Dearborn (which btw also has way better desserts than Whole Foods as Arabic people have French influences so they make great French inspired desserts). Their quick serve sushi is overpriced. They charge over $30 (I think last time I paid $31.99) a pound for sashimi salmon while Noble Fish charges $23/lb for the same quality, that's a $10/lb difference! Their pre-made sushi is $9.99 for very basic rolls while One World Market (Novi) charges $3.50 to $4 for much better rolls. As far as processed foods goes, organic pasta? Cheaper on Amazon in bulk (and since it doesn't go bad because it's dried, why not buy in bulk and store?). But what about all the fruits and vegetables? They're so wonderfully displayed because that's what you're paying so much for. Well, you should go to Trader Joe's for a fraction of the cost, or Randazzo's which has far greater selection. You might say: but Randazzo's Market isn't all organic - well look closer, neither is Whole Foods, half their stuff isn't organic. Personally, I think Randazzo's has fresher produce if you go early in the day when it's freshly stocked. Whole Foods isn't a bad store - it's just overrated and gives you the impression of this amazing place that's all happy and healthy. Their service is superb - no argument there, I grew up on Whole Foods and my dad was such a frequent customer he had them special order cactus leaves (I guess they were supposed to be nutritious, tasted awful). I also like their cheese display and quick serve sandwiches which are really yummy - but that certainly isn't enough of a reason to go there regularly. So while you should know about Whole Foods, and go occasionally, there is no reason to be such an oogling fan of this place - it's just a very well marketed store with great displays, organized shelves, and well paid employees - but again, half of those things are just appearances, not substance. You definitely pay for the pretty sights.
