"While Whole Slvce isn’t entirely dedicated to vegan offerings, their entire menu is available vegan. This includes vegan versions of meat toppings, such as pepperoni, salami, and sausage. The slow-fermented dough presents itself closer to a New York style crust here; thick and airy Sicilian style is also available." - Jackie Tran

Google
They had a very unique menu and the white pizza was amazing and they take special requests very well and everything is made their they make their own sauce and their own dough. It was the best white pizza I have had on the West Coast. Also when you get a pizza there if you go next door to the bar you get a discount on your first drink.

We ate at Whole Slvce for the first time tonight. The pizza was excellent!! They can make any pizza on the menu vegan. My only surprise was that there is no indoor seating. But there is a. courtyard right next to it with tables and chairs. We will definitely be returning.

Google
I think this was my first time eating New York style pizza, and I was impressed. I ordered 1 slice of pepperoni just to taste. The pizza was already cooked, and they resend it through the oven to make it crispy and hot. The crust had that crunch you get from fresh bread, which was really nice. It had the right amount of sauce and cheese and lots of pepperoni. The slice was also pretty big. One slice was maybe $6.25 with tax, so cheap enough that everyone can afford it, but it doesn't taste cheap or pre-made. They are located at the bottom of an apartment bldg so very easy to get to. There are also other shops around, so you can look around while you eat a slice. I will definitely come back, and I would recommend other people check them out as well.

Living in New Jersey and New York for most of my time after college outside of Red Bank, Somerset County and Manhattan, I now live in Tucson and I've been looking for the perfect boardwalk style thin crust melty cheese pizza. Thin crunchy crust, perfect melt /ratio of cheese, and flavorful sauce. This was pretty good pizza but not perfected. I have tried Empire, Brooklyn, Fentonellis, Upper Crust just to name a few. Can't quite find the perfection. I'm working my rounds. Crust crunch factor was awesome. You cannot order slices of pizza over the phone. May I recommend a different location if you want this option. You have to physically walk in to pick up your pizza slices. No phone orders. Sad. I don't have that problem with two pizza establishments just down the road. So unfortunately they lose points on this.

Google
Their gluten free crust is thick and bread-like. Not the typical thin/crispy gluten free crust most places have. Excellent flavor.

Tin Nguyen

Google
Very good pizza. Great smell when pass by, so I gotta try it. Great crust and pizza bottom. The sauce is ok and ingredients are right on. Pizza by the slice or whole.

Tyler Wiegand

Google
Perhaps the best pizza I've ever had. The homemade sauce has the right spice notes and really can't be bested by anything else I've tried. The service is great and they even considered my special needs making the pizza the way I wanted. The pizza is so good that I came back 2 days in a row to eat an entire pizza by myself. 😅 The owner is a cool cat. My only "complaint" they should open more locations and perhaps offer some sides but I understand that's easier said than done. I'll certainly be recommending this place to people!

Google
If anyone tries to tell you there’s a better place to get pizza in Arizona they’re lying to you. I’m an NYC transplant and WHOLE SLVCE pies stack up against the best I’ve had in the 5 boroughs. CC3 is our go to but you can’t go wrong with a plain or pepperoni too. The staff are all gems, super helpful and give great recommendations on what to get. At this point half the time I go I just tell them to make whatever they think is hitting the best that day and I’m never disappointed. Pro tip while you wait for your pie head next store to the barber shop and get a dollar off on a beer while you wait

Yelp
Hi we live near whole slice pizza and let me tell you the pizza is delicious, the Staff especially Robert, are very friendly, and professional. This is my first time putting a review, because I feel very welcomed in there every time I go. They also offer military discounts, seating outside and drinks. Please go by and try them out thank you and God bless.

Joann B.

Yelp
Their pizza is made to order, so don't walk in there expecting to find any ready made slices. Whole Slvce has limited seating outside, so if you're with a big group, you may not get to sit anywhere. I tried two pieces of pizza: #4 tomato sauce, salami, calabrian chilis, red onion, ricotta, parmesan; and the #5 tomato sauce, mozzarella, yellow onion, yellow bell pepper, sausage, parmesan. Firstly, the dough/bread the perfect crunch, chew and flavor to me. I'm the type of person that likes to dip my pizza crust in extra marinara or ranch dressing if available, but usually will only do this in the comfort and privacy of home - anyway, the crusts are really good breadsticks too, if that's how you like to eat your pizzas. The #4 was pleasantly spicy. Some bites had more of a spicy kick to them and other bites were rich with the creamy ricotta. I think the ricotta really gave a nice silkiness to each bite. Although I really enjoyed the #4, but felt the #5 was better. The onion, bell pepper, sausage combo with the other pizza ingredients just meshed better with each other. Each bite felt more complete to me and made me want to eat a whole pizza of this kind. Both slices were more than I needed and I could have made them into four pieces, but they were too good to not eat all at once.

Yelp
The Best Slice in Tucson! If you've ever been to NYC and had a "slice" on the street, well, don't hate me, Whole Slice might Might be doing better. I was full from lunch and walking by the front door when the heavenly smell and sirens call of pizza drew me in. Man was I stuffed from lunch but no foodie could have resisted this essence of pie. I ordered a slice and had it cut in fourths for myself and friends. Oh man! Thin crust, fresh tomato sauce, hot cheese. Everything a margarita pizza should be and more. Well done Whole Slvce

Talisa M.

Yelp
Hands down a favorite place for pizza in town, they get the vegan cheese right :) Stopped in for a quick slice, drink and a canoli... everything is vegan or has a vegan equivalent. I love this place, there will be many more reviews and shares to come

Reed B.

Yelp
I always thought Falora was the best pizza in Tucson but they made While Slvce a close contender. They have the same kale salad with olives and artichokes, covered in the best cashew dressing I've ever tasted. They have more vegan toppings available than Falora and appear to have a rotating vegan special slice. Came here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and had no issues getting a quick order from their friendly staff and finding a clean table outside. I'll definitely be a repeat customer here.

David K.

Yelp
When I first started in the restaurant business, the owner gave great advice: treat every person who walks through the door as you would your mother and father. Yesterday, I came to provide some local businesses support for small business Saturday, and I did not feel welcome at all. The place is small and the type where you order at the counter and either take the food to go or sit on one of the bistro tables outside around the corner. Along with my son, there was one customer in front of us finishing her order. Then, an older, disheveled guy went around us and ordered in front of us. The woman taking the orders saw what happened and did not say anything about it. Perhaps this is pettiness that could be the center of a Seinfeld episode, but I am at the point in my life where I don't care how good the product is if I feel like I am being disrespected. The pizza was better than average, but I will not be back.

Yelp
I was really excited to try this place, I love pizza. When I went to pick up my pizza the service was good. I got home and noticed that the bottom of the box was slightly wet. I opened the box and the pizza was the greasiest, wettest mess that I had ever seen. I used almost an entire roll of paper towels to make the pizza sort of edible, but it still dripped gobs of grease when I took a bite. Inevitably had to throw the whole thing away.

Maxwell L.

Yelp
Ordered 2 slices of pizza and two drinks for $18 on Valentine's Day for lunch. Let me tell you.. I was not very happy. Maybe it was just a bad day for the chef? Who knows but, for $6.50 a slice I'd expect fresh tomato sauce at LEAST . The pizza seemed to sit around for a while because it tasted stale.. like really stale. The tomato sauce was extremely dry to the point that it's had a matte of finish instead of a nice fresh sauce that still has moisture and a sheen to it. Service was very good. I was going to go to university and 4th for their pizza because it's been consistently great and cheaper but decided to try something new..

Mike S.

Yelp
High expectations not such high results. Tried the vegan pizza of the day. The crust was good. That was about it. The seating was terrible. The prices were ok. Another place that asks for a tip without providing waitstaff or even menus at the table. Cheap paper plates and cups. Just pretty disappointing all around.

Yelp
Went to Whole Slvce on a Saturday and service was really good! I ordered the lemon ricotta slice and pepperoni slice. Both slices were just mid to be honest. Pepperoni had a slight kick but it wasn't mind blowing! Same with the lemon ricotta pizza. I was hoping for a more lemon-y taste but could barely taste it. It was really creamy and very cheesy-- but a bit too cheesy for my taste! They were out of the Sicilians by the time I got there so I'll have to go back and try that!

Paige A.

Yelp
Counter ordering. Outdoor seating only. There is a shaded breezeway with small bistro tables outside. We tried slices of Pepperoni, Ricotta Lemon, plus the Kale Salad. We loved the Ricotta Lemon, which is very cheesy, and the lemon is very subtle. The pepperoni was good, but the Ricotta Lemon will bring us back. Their marinara is a little on the sweeter side. Crust light but thicker than a Neapolitan pie. True to their mission of being an homage to NY pie. We want to try the other slices. Vegan friendly spot, a lot of vegan options on the menu too. I loved all the ingredients in the kale salad and how they had it made ahead with dressing. Kale was tender and plentiful with artichokes, olives, etc. However the house dressing it comes with was not for us. It's probably a well-known creamy vegan ingredient, but it tasted soapy/lotion-like to my taste buds. The menu could be more intuitive; slices are listed by number and ingredients. And there isn't a menu on the wall. I love minimalism, but some menu updates would be good. I wanted the slice of pepperoni I saw on the counter, so I ordered a pep and got a different type because the one in front of me was not pep, but the Sicilian. Smarter foodies than me probably would've known this. Overall, will be back for that Lemon Ricotta and to try the Sicilian! Very cute location in the Mercado District.

Mike M.

Yelp
Nothing fancy, but this place has the pie check it out. They got slices. They got full pizzas. They got a pretty nice menu for a pizza place. They got drinks. Nice open area outside to eat and very fast and friendly service at the front. There's a frequent buyer card, so make sure to get your punches Fast and easy. This is the place to go.

Yelp
This is my new spot for Vegan Pizza. There's a few places where I can say are have to go when in town kinda pizza in the US Las Vegas - Down 2 Earth Pizza Los Angeles - Purgatory Pizza STARTING TODAY ****Tucson - Whole Slice I have to say the sauce was not tangy like most sauce I tried but just right with a bit/hint of a kick. It was delicious. We had some focaccia bread from the farmers market next door(only on Thursdays) and scraped some sauce on it and man it was good. Would love to just have a jar of the sauce. The crust...I can go on and on. Each ingredient can stand alone. When youre in Tucson, plan on coming here and eating the best vegan pizza hands down. I will now be a regular and now dont have to go so far for a pizza craving. Great job to the staff and hats off to the chef

Christy H.

Yelp
This place is legit! Pepperoni was amazing! Good cheese. Fresh little pepperoni. Dough was freshly hand tossed. Great staff. Also tried another slice with ricotta, and onion. I liked the pepperoni better. It had a little kick to it of spice I wasn't a huge fan of. Drinks include pellegrino, Coke, and some other choices. Good and fast. Perfect for a lunch stop!

Adam H.

Yelp
I would just go somewhere else personally ... After waiting a significant time to place an order we are excited to see what's available and how the ordering process works since we heard about vegan options . The experience starts off ok as the I order 2 slices of all they had at the time asking how long it would be for 2 additional slices it got awkward .she asked about the vegan options in which they said we don't have any ready .. we say ok we would like to try 2 different types would take 35 min to make .. that wasn't even the deal breaker but trying to get 4 slices 2 they had available and the other 2 on The menu just vegan we had to buy the whole pizza for the 2 slices we wanted to try . Reiterating we just wanted to slices the worker proceeded to ring us out for 2 full pizzas and 2 slices . And catches an attitude jokes with what seems to be her boss about us saying we'll just go elsewhere cuz she can't grasp the concept that we wanted in them in the menu just vegan .. so for clarification dont go here if your vegan and want just a slice cuz you cant unless they have it made Already. FYI they only had regular cheese pre made . Change the verbiage on the web cite it's misleading can just order VV slice !!

Roger S.

Yelp
I don't leave reviews, but this place has such good pizza I need to mention. The crust is perfect - you could put anything on it and it will be the best you've had.

Matthew R.

Yelp
New openly New York style pizza. This review is based on the pizza and not the opening issues that every store has. No major opening issues, just working out ordering bug in the system. Crust and overall pizza didn't have much flavor. The dough had a unique smell, not bad but different from other shops. The ferment the dough so that could be it. As for New York Style, I'll give them a 5/10. Good size slice Plenty of classic styles Crunchy crust where is counts Personal opinion: No flavor in the dough The unique pizzas flavoring is off One slice was over charred Found a hair on one slice Not much depth of flavor in either slice Will come again in the next few weeks to try again. Try yourself and see what you think.

Gretchen P.

Yelp
Very tasty pizza, fired fresh in a number of interesting flavors (some vegan, some vegetarian). A bit pricey but in a competitive business area. Love the traditional slices, and also enjoyed the Detroit-style thicker crust rectangle slices to go!

Madelynn F.

Yelp
They sell pizza by the slice And whole pizzas. You cannot personalize the slices, But you can personalize your whole pizza. We just did a whole pepperoni pizza. And it was so good! The perfect amount of pepperoni as well as crispy crust. The crust was very good. I usually don't eat crust on pizza, but I did with this. Just a heads up that they do not have any indoor seating, but there is a patio next-door

Erick D.

Yelp
The service was fast and friendly, but we weren't able to modify our slices of pizza. 3 slices ran about $23. The pizza was good, but not mind blowing. I may need to try a whole pizza. It's nice to have a pizza option in the Congress/freeway area. There wasn't a lot of room or tables to sit at.

J R.

Yelp
The best pizza I've had since I left from NY over 15 years ago... and, My new absolute favorite place in Tucson! It's crispy, light, perfect portions of cheese and sauce... and, it's a whole NY slice! Thank you Robert and Johnny for both your smiles and your service!

Chelsea J.

Yelp
Pretty good pizza. We got 3 slices to try and shared them. Unfortunately they didn't have knives to cut them in half. We were most excited to try #4 (salami, onion, Calabrian chili, ricotta) but it was actually our least favorite. That one was pretty dry and I couldn't taste the salami. #2, classic pepperoni ended up being our favorite. Loved the little pepperonis, even though there weren't very many on it. We also got #5 (sausage, peppers, onions) which was good but also lacking on the toppings. Seating is in the courtyard and very limited. They had cups for water, but the water container was almost empty and water was warm. The dinner rush was just starting and they were somehow out of the kale salad.

Jerry H.

Yelp
Great sauce, interesting dough, good cheese. Heavy emphasis on the NY style while close it's not there. Lacking the thin / floppy essence. Sicilian / square was crispy and not so much pillowy as undone on the inside. The price is kind of insane for 2 plain slices and a canned drink. 15$ I'd still recommend the place and I want to try a fresh pie but it's not worth the trip across town for.

Nancy F.

Yelp
Service was quick and friendly. We ordered the #3 slice. The bubbles of fresh ricotta, parmesan, lemon zest, black pepper were so good. Eat it when it's hot and out of the oven. Seating is only at outside tables. It can be warm out. We were sweating while eating our slices. You can purchase by the slice or whole pizzas. They have water available but it was warm. I got another slice to go and they put it on a paper plate in a paper bag. I wish they had a pizza box for slices.

Rip S.

Yelp
Quick & Convenient and Budget Friendly. Outdoor seating is Shaded. Slice is tasty & quick New York Style.

Kim L.

Yelp
We stopped for a slice, but ended up grabbing a whole pizza, for cost savings. We got the lemon ricotta, which I thought was full of flavor. I could really taste the lemon, and I loved the big bubbles in the crust. Slices were big, so one or two is enough. We had enough pizza for the next day. It took about 30 minutes. They gave us a light up thing and we walked over to West Bound and grabbed a drink, which was nice. Its nice to have a pizza option in the Mercado.

Courtney J.

Yelp
It was touted as the best pizza as close to a NY slice as you could get - and it didn't disappoint! The pizza was as close to a good ol' NYC slice of 'za as I could find in this town. The cannolis were v. fresh, and tasted "wholesome." I prefer mine to be a bit more sugary, but you could tell it was made from scratch, so kudos for that.

Chris K.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure the name of the place is Whole Slice, but okay. It's a take out pizza place. They do have a small set up of tables in the breezeway next door. I'd say it's a decent new york style pizza. It doesn't hit you with flavor (light in the seasoning department) and in my case i just ordered mushrooms and the amount added gave the hint of mushroom. If I lived in the area I'd probably order this from time to time and hit it with some seasoning and be happy, but I wouldn't travel for it.

Miranda W.

Yelp
Anyone who doesn't think this is the best pizza in Tucson is insane. I'm a New Yorker and I take my slices VERY seriously. I have literally tried every east coast style pizza joint in town and Whole Slvce is the only place worth eating. Not only that, it holds its own up against some of the best pizza in NYC. Before this place opened up there was a void in my life because I could not get a good east coast style slice. Now I don't have to move. My family gets two pies every other week. Usually a plain and the lemon ricotta white pie (we add sausage). Their pepperoni is great too. Not only is the pizza amazing, but the people working there are stellar human beings. Like some of the nicest folks around. I will just end by saying my husband, also a New Yorker, is one of the toughest pizza critics I know and LOVES this spot.

E. A.

Yelp
The first time we went looking for this place we didn't find it. So we made another trek to the area. And found it! It sort of blends in to the shops off the road. We initially thought it was in the original San Augustine shops. It's located in the new apartment building ground floor. Friendly and helpful people in the shop. We owed ordered the #3. A pizza with ricotta, mozzarella, black pepper and lemon zest highlights. It had a thin crispy crust. Out of the oven the pizza had an amazing aroma. There was no sauce. This helped the flavors pop. We throughly enjoyed this flavorful pizza. The only downside is limited sitting areas. Definitely a return visit.

Enid Y.

Yelp
My daughters and I stopped in had a slice of very delicious pizza. The only thing that I did not like was the women who took our order. She seemed frazzled and nervous. While we waited for your pizza she rudely asked us to move as she cleaned up an area. She didn't say excuse me or let me get by. Or could have cleaned up after we left. I dont know if I would go back on account of her behavior.

J B.

Yelp
Some of the best pizza we've ever had! Simple. Intentional. Great. Everything on the traditional menu can be made vegan. Most everything is house made and the owners care about their customers. This place is a must visit and as good as it gets!

Lauren M.

Yelp
Love this spot! The kale salad is the same one as Falora's (so delicious), and as a lactose intolerant person I so appreciate that you can get every single slice vegan as well! I also appreciate their beverage selection, offering sugar-free Coca-Cola, and Olipop as well. With the Tucson Foodie Insiders app I get a free slice every month, but I go more often than that!

Hayley A.

Yelp
Huge pies! If you're looking for a classic NY slice of pizza this is the place to go. Tried a classic pie and a build your own, both times it was delicious.

Jon H.

Yelp
Ricotta & lemon zest. Calabrian chili & red onion. Eggplant & pesto. Perfect pairs, on the perfect slice, in the perfect spot.

Caitlin S.

Yelp
I live down the street and have visited Whole Slvce three times since it opened, so it's quickly become a household favorite. My husband is a cheese pizza guy and loves their classic cheese, while I've tried a few different varieties and have enjoyed them all. Last night, I tried the lemon ricotta slice and was blown away. It was fresh and flavorful, and definitely my favorite so far (the cheese and pepperoni are also great.) Pizza comes out fast, even if there's a wait, and the staff is always friendly. My one complaint is the takeout system for slices (paper plate in a paper bag) leaves something to be desired. It's not an issue when it's a single slice or even two slices, but last night I ordered three and the server stacked two in the same bag. Needless to say, one of the slices lost most of its cheese to the bottom of the plate that was on top of it. I'd love to see them invest in smaller boxes or figure out a cleaner, easier way to package to-go slices.

John G.

Yelp
I ride my bike in the area early morning, long before they open but drove over there Sunday for a Whole Slice. Just plain cheese to start and I must say it was fantastic and I am from the East Coast and know the best, New York Pizza. I think it's one of the best pizza's in town and plan on making it a weekly habit. Sure 5 bucks is a lot for a slice but it's generous and running a restaurant is real iffy and expensive these days. Good luck to Whole Slice. They hit a home run with their pizza and location! Went back a week later. Would move it to three stars. Slice was smaller than on first visit. Staff could be more upbeat including Evans, owner, who could welcome customers with a smile and a hello . The menu is one page. Easy to make photocopies. They don't have take out menus. Visit was disappointing.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Definitely not a bad start seeing as they just opened! Decided to try this place with a friend after a hike. Location-wise, it's a great place to grab a slice and walk around, seeing it's near MSA annex. However, I will say it's different than what I was expecting. The toppings were delicious, but there was a smell that was a bit off (I think it might be from the paper the pizza is placed on?) they've got some fun options for toppings, and it was certainly fresh. The staff were enthusiastic and friendly- they made it a nice culinary experience!

Violet C.

Yelp
Amazing new place. Fantastic vegan pizza. Can't wait to go back and try the whole menu. I've never seen a restaraunt anywhere have an exactly 50% cruelty free menu it's pretty awesome.

Margo W.

Yelp
To quote another recent review: "The pizza has potential but it was too doughy. It's in between Brooklyn and Empire." This is exactly what I was thinking as I was eating my cheese slice. It was reminiscent of Brooklyn Pizza Co., and I was expecting something of a higher caliber. My main complaint was the crust which fell flat in flavor and texture. The bottom of my slice was crisp but the outer edge was pale, flat, and gummy on the inside. My companion's slice had a nicer looking crust, adequately puffy and golden brown, but her slice was practically half the size of my cheese slice, which was not a good look either. They were also a little stingy with the pepperonis on her slice. She was not overly impressed with the overall quality. I love the concept and the cute little breezeway outside to sit and eat, but the execution fell flat.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
The service was amazing and the staff was super friendly as well the food was 10/10 I think this is my new favorite pizza spot! The seating/dining area is outside and it's comfortable imo. There's a worker that's noticed we've been going quite often and always checks in with us to make sure we're enjoying everything from our order! We caught the owner one time and he asked us how was the pizza and how everything was, super friendly and nice. I'm most definitely going to be a regular here.

Jeff G.

Yelp
Kale, eggplant, etc. slice was so good. Also had lemon, cheese pepper type slice- excellent.

Severino F.

Yelp
Today I went and got a vegan slice a regular slice and a deep dish slice. All three slices of pizza were great. I love the way that crust felt I was in especially especially impressed with the vegan slice. I haven't had a vegan slice of pizza. I liked yet until now. I will be back

Jim D.

Yelp
Great pizza. Came out quick. Appreciate the gf crust. Crust was amazing. Entire staff was shaka brah.

Monique S.

Yelp
The pizza was great. We had tried visiting before they opened a few weeks ago since we always pass, but obviously no one was there. We would see some people in there working which is why my husband and I were under that impression. But the pizza, was great. I stuck with a simple pepperoni slice with red sauce, romano and mozzarella. Everyone was so kind in there. Not that spacious, which I don't mind. They have a gluten free option for the dough which is nice. The slice came out reasonably fast and just perfect! I appreciate the workers coming out and checking on how the food is.

Jordan V.

Yelp
Best vegan pizzas in town by far, maybe the best vegan pizzas I've ever had! No extra charges to make it vegan which I really appreciate. The salami slice is my favorite but they're all great. And the kale salad and cannolis from Houldens are top notch too!

Dan K.

Yelp
Amazing pizza! I'm from NJ and this is it! Super legit. Tastes like back east and I'll be here often!

James R.

Yelp
Had an outstanding slice, the #4. This is thoughtful pizza--well prepared and well executed. Probably the best single thing I've had to eat in Tucson since I got here 7 years ago! All of the components were in perfect balance--crust, sauce, cheese (parmesan and ricotta) and toppings (salami, red onions, and calabrian peppers). The crust was excellent--similar to a NY slice although thinner and crispier but still with a slight chew. It was only one slice but, dare I say, LIFE CHANGING! THANKS Whole Slvce crew!

Kelly M.

Yelp
Confident that I can say as someone who was born in NY and raised in CT, this was the best pizza slice in Tucson and the closest you will find here to NY pizza. It's been hard to find a pizza place here that was even passable as something I would enjoy eating here as an East Coast transplant and thank god this place opened their doors. I tried the cheese as a baseline but will be coming back to try the other pies. There are only 6 slices in the pie, but the slices are huge NY style ones so I'm good with that. Looking forward to frequenting this spot!
