South Austin Staple Wholy Bagel Is Opening in Northwest Hills - Eater Austin

"Wholy Bagel, the essential South Austin bagel shop, is opening a new location up in the Northwest Hills neighborhood. The new bagel restaurant will be found on 3637 Far West Boulevard, starting sometime in January 2019. The menu will remain the same as the West William Cannon Drive shop: bagels, cream cheeses, sandwiches (lox, pastrami, corned beef, eggs, etc.), and desserts like black and white cookies and crumb cake. It will also offer more prepackaged food items like smoked fish, whitefish salads, cream cheese, and yogurt parfaits. Owners Richard and Nicole Spiegel decided to open the new location because it was the 'ideal' spot because of the neighborhood and demand in the area. The new store will have an 'art deco feel' meant to connect them to their East Coast roots, according to Richard. The Spiegels took over Wholy Bagel in 2015 from founder Scott Campanozzi, who opened the shop in 2010 with the goal of bringing New York-style bagels to Austin." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
Got a toasted Everything Bagel, it had a good flavor, more herbal than I expected, but that wasn't a bad thing. The smell of the resturant wasn't great, it smelt like something was burning and the service wasn't very attentive, they didn't call out when orders were done, which was strange.

Google
I got the most burt bagel in my life. And they forgot to put one of the paid toppings inside the bagel. when I told them about it they just gave me just a new plain new bagel like I am supposed to transfer the egg and all the fillings by hand ?! The weirdest bagel shop experience i had so far.

Google
my new favorite bagel shop :') one of the few places where you can really customize your BEC. My favorite bagel shop in Austin ~ atmosphere, quality & service was superb. I ordered the build your own breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel w 1 egg white, provolone, bacon & hot sauce. I'm not a big egg girl so this was amazing for me. Drink selection was great and the music was awesome too. I highly recommend if you're looking for a new chill spot to read a book while having your bagel 🫰

Google
These bagels are what a bagel is supposed to be. Their old world recipe and preparation is nothing like grocery store bagels. They are just like the bagels that were sold on the lower East Side of NYC 40 years ago! Well worth the 30 minute drive. They freeze perfectly so we’ll have this deliciousness for weeks!

Google
This is my favorite bagel shop and probably the best bagel shop in Austin. Plenty of cream cheese, perfectly toasted, and great service. I highly recommend you try this spot.

Google
This is almost a quaint little shop. It's small and airy. No menu hovering overhead--just bagels for you to see. (Menus are provided.) They have a terrific selection of cream cheese to choose from. My bagel had a perfect chew, was light (not dense), and had a light outer crust. It also had ample cream cheese (which I requested on the side--not their normal procedure!). I'll definitely be back.

Google
Very solid bagel spot. Their bagels are pretty unique from what I've found in Austin. They have that nice chewy texture and are pretty thick, and what stuck out to me was the really nice and noticeable fermented/sourdough taste in the bagels. It wasn't like anything I've had before and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The cream cheese is also awesome! And they have some very unique options too (i.e. the Angry Texas and Olive Pimento cream cheese) that I'm excited to try! The final product is a pretty thick bagel and thick layer of cream cheese, but the ratio feels right. The service was great and it was a nice, cozy place to go to on a Sunday morning. Super excited to come back!

Google
Place is pretty good! The bagels are decent size and soft on the inside and have a very light crunch on the outside. I got the steak breakfast sandwich and it was really good. Wish you could get scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs but oh well. I will probably be back cause the price is good enough and the breakfast sandwiches taste good!

Yelp
This place has the best bagels in Austin bar none! They also have the best hand made cream cheese with flavors that are authentic and thick based, not whipped like everywhere else. The owner is from NJ and being from NY myself this is the only place that makes bagels as authentic as back home for me. I have driven over 25 miles from home to pick up both bagels and cream cheese because its just that good. The bagels outer "shell" has a crispness to it but not hard, seasoning on both sides of the bagel you just cant go wrong. The ambiance in the restaurant is very much like home especially if you visit the William Cannon location which has pics of the NY sports teams

Yelp
Pros: tastes great, garlic aioli tastes awesome on any sandwich, option for egg whites Cons: pricey (see photo), no option to suggest specific time for ordering ahead, forgot the cheese on my sandwich

Yelp
So disappointing, as I have heard the food is good. We went during the lunch hour and were happy to score one of the very few parking spots. Went inside with a dinging bell announcing our arrival. One employee in back who glanced our way while on his cell phone then moved where he was out of view. We perused the menu for a while, decided what we wanted, and greeted the next customer who came in with the dinging bell. We all talked among ourselves, checked to see if there was a way to alert hidden people in the back we were ready beyond saying "Hello?" Then we finally just left. Won't be trying that place again.

Yelp
Cute little place, definitely fresh bagels, I ordered the smoked salmon /sesame bagel / with scallion cream cheese and capers YUMMM! Great service, With they closed later than 2, but will defi atly be back!

Yelp
Wholy Bagel? More like, Holy Cream Cheese! There is only one true way to eat a bagel, and that's toasted with a mound of cream cheese on top. If you eat it like a sandwich and the cream cheese falls out you know it's done correctly. It is difficult to come across bagel shops that aren't chains like Einstein, so it's refreshing to get a chance to have a legit shop nearby. So far, I have only gotten their sesame bagel toasted with cream cheese, but their bagel sandwiches look delicious, and will be next on my list. The only "negative" (based on my 5 minutes in there) is to maybe put a door separating the kitchen from the dining/order area. The prep station's music was outplaying the music in the front and it kind of threw off the vibe. But again, I didn't eat there so maybe other people don't mind.

Yelp
Took out an assortment of six bagels and a small smear that was veggie-based. All the bagels were, according to the people that ate them, very good. I had an everything bagel and I would agree. Tasty bagel. The outside was perfectly solid, and the inside was soft and properly doughy. The bagels toasted up quite well. Why only four stars? I just don't think six bagels and a small smear ought to be this pricey.

Yelp
I'm always on the hunt for some good vegan cream cheese. So when I heard about how good their bagels are supposed to be and then saw they had vegan cream cheese on their menu I just had to go! I read reviews about the blueberry bagel and so I ordered it. It was really good, though I'm not from the east coast so I don't really have anything to truly compare it too. I got my bagel extra toasted and the perfect amount of cream cheese was spread on it. It was a small place with some bar stools for seating. The staff was really nice and my order came out fast. I want to go back and try a breakfast sandwich!!

Yelp
Wholy Bagel is the most convenient bagel shop for me. However, after today, I will no longer go back. I order online before work and without fail every time I ask for my bagel not toasted, they toast it. This time they gave it to me burnt. This always happens with every order. They need to ask their food preparers to carefully read the orders and requests. I am a paying customer and it's not okay when I am excited and expectant about something and don't get it almost every time.
google avatar

Candace B.

Yelp
Dropped in for a bagel. Was able to order quickly as there was not a line, but there were people waiting around for orders. I ordered a blueberry bagel toasted with honey vanilla cream cheese. They are truly generous with the cream cheese! The bagel itself was okay but a little tough to chew, and the cream cheese had a nice flavor.

Yelp
I had a hankering for a bagel and decided it was a sign for me to try a spot I'd heard about before - Wholy Bagel. It shares a parking lot with a Starbucks and a few other businesses - and while it was busy, I was easily able to find a spot. As others have shared, this is a no frills sort of spot - a few seats indoors and outdoors, but definitely more of a takeaway spot. They seem to have a fairly good number of regulars - many who were there seemed to know the staff and the staff knew their orders well. Since the bagel was serving more as my lunch than my breakfast, I opted for something a bit more savory. I had the Sesame seed bagel (last one of the day!), toasted with the Texas loaded cream cheese. The staff described it as a loaded baked potato taste - warm and fulfilling. There's a case of cream cheese flavors - much like a gelato or ice cream display. It was a nice bagel texture and some great flavor in the cream cheese (which included bacon, cheddar, scallions, cayenne, paprika, salt and pepper). If you wanted to take it up a notch, you could go for the Angry Texas.

Yelp
This is a sad bagel with only half the bagel with a smear. It makes for a DRY and boring bagel. I had to go home and put more cream cheese on it. Boo
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
First time bagel was good - everything. But sandwich was a mess with the whitefish salad although I phoned in order asking for not a heaping mess. Anyway, came back and tried multigrain and no longer tasted like a NY bagel. This one was not crisp in the outside and I couldn't eat it. Threw it out. Didn't like the cream cheese. Now I have to go find another lunch with only 20 min left. All bagels should taste like NY bagels. Plus there's no NY pickles or even tuna sold here. You will still miss NY.

Yelp
I'm still dreaming of this rainbow bagel from wholy bagel! It was so big and fluffy. I paired it with I think it was the honey cream cheese and it was the perfect combo. It looks like a bagel you'd see someone post in nyc- so glad we have an instagrammable bagel shop here! Not only is it picture worthly, flavor and value and is there too. Wholy bagel is a great spot for a grab and go bagel I've also had their bagel sandwiches in the past and those are also a 10/10 but I like to pre order those as sometimes they do have a line, but definitely worth checking out!

P J.

Yelp
These bagels are not even close to what you'd get in New York and lack in flavor. The woman working the cashier was not friendly and had her AirPods in the whole time when I ordered. When I got home I realized she must have not heard me correctly as my order was wrong and the flavors I ordered were mixed up. $40 for a dozen bagels and two shmears is pretty pricey though so I can't recommend this place.

Yelp
I've started coming here every Friday. Best bagel in Austin. My only complaint is they can run a bit slow, but their servers are amazing--just be warned it can have a 10 minute wait if there are orders ahead of you. I would definitely recommend going out of your way to try.

Yelp
Finally found a decent bagel in Austin. Being from the northeast my standards are high... and this place was worth visiting it again. I gave it 5 stars because it has blown every other place in Austin I've tried. It would get a 3 1/2 in NYC, but still a solid score!

Katherine A.

Yelp
The bagels with cream cheese were good. The service was horrible, with absolutely no common sense or hospitality. The place was completely filthy. They had NO napkins and the hand sanitizer bottle was empty. Every table was dirty. They messed up my order and didn't apologize. They demanded I give the "bad" bagel back (bc I was scamming?) Fine with me, but just rude in how it was handled. This place should be drive-thru only. It's not a good place for interacting with staff, and sitting down to eat. I didn't pay $20 for two bagels with cream cheese and two drinks and provide a 20% tip to be treated rudely and eat in filth. I won't be back.

Yelp
We recently arrived in Austin and looking for a bagel place. Located in a small plaza at the northwest hills location. While it does have seating, feels more of a pick-up and dip spot. Service was reasonable considering the flow of customers. We both had the pecan coffee. Could not make out the pecan flavor at all. (Perhaps it was brewing a while). The bagels (garlic & and everything) were good, but lacked a bit in flavor. Cream cheese was okay (could have used more) I had the scallion and the flavor really wasn't there. I had the #4. Not exactly what I was expecting. My lox and onion was scrambled into the egg. If you have experienced a bagel, schmear & lox with a nice red onion. Then you wouldn't know any better. My wife said her breakfast was fine. Perhaps the lunch offerings would be a better option for us.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little bagel shop, they have so many bagel sandwiches on the menu to choose from! And if you don't want one of their delicious sandwiches you can always build your own bagel! Only downside is that they are closed on Mondays :( :(

Yelp
I moved to Austin from NY about 5 years ago and am only now doing my research on where to get good bagels. I know I know, but I'm a breakfast taco girl now so this important research got put on the back-burner. I agree with some of my fellow NYers that they're definitely not as big as in NY but they are pretty thick. Honestly I don't need a NY sized bagel anyway. My go to order for bagels is either toasted with butter or toasted with egg and cheese. This time I went for egg and cheese. One single egg fried and just a slice of cheese. Like I said it is pretty thick so the egg and cheese didn't really hold up against how much bread there was. There was pepper on the egg but no salt so it left it a bit bland. The bagel could've been toasted a bit more. Coffee...needs improvement. The only coffee options are from those big thermos things you just pump out. No lattes, espressos or iced options to be found. Overall I would definitely go back because there are definitely worse options (ahem Einstein's) but there are some comparable or better options as well.

Yelp
Spectacular bagels, especially for a town that doesn't really know how to make them. I had an unexpectedly delicious whitefish bagel here. I would just add that their coffee is disgusting so you may want to get that at the neighboring Starbucks !

Yelp
I visited the far west location of wholy bagel and the service was awful. I had to wait 20 minutes for a bagel that was a pretty simple order. That wasn't even toasted. There was actually three customers in the store, but my bagels still took 20 minutes and other customers got their bagel before me. Additionally I watched a team member pick something off the ground and put it in her mouth while wearing the gloves that she used to make my bagel. As a regular wholy bagel enjoyer this was disgusting and I will not be returning to this location or any for that matter.
google avatar

Heather T.

Yelp
I am beyond thrilled that there is now a North location for Wholy Bagel. We are entirely bagel snobs at my house. My hubby is from the NE and my children are obsessed with "real" NY bagels. These bagels are legit. The real deal. They are boiled and not just bread in a bagel shape. Chewy outside layer, fluffy inside layer. As for toasted or not, that is your choice. If you're a fan of a schmear, try the Texas loaded. Add it to a salt bagel for what we call "the baked potato bagel." The staff here is so hardworking and the atmosphere is just what you'd expect from a legit bagel shop. PS - The "bakers" dozen here is a "Texan dozen" which means 12=14. That's some good bagel math.
google avatar

Jennie K.

Yelp
Wholy Moley..these Wholy Bagels! First, the logistics: Has outdoor seating. Skip the drip coffee, Starbucks is right around the corner. Closed on Mondays. Now, the good stuff. I'm not a New Yorker, but these are definitely larger and chewier than the average bagel found around town. I'm a big fan of the sweet and savory combos - egg bagel with blueberry cream cheese or cinnamon raisin bagel with scallion cream cheese. The Lox cream cheese is also better than the more mass produced stuff around town. Customize yourself a breakfast or lunch sandwich if you're in the mood, but when I don't want too many decisions, my go-to is the lox nova sandwich. You have to like that cold smoked salmon flavor though.

Matthew H.

Yelp
I was recommended trying this place out by a coworker awhile back and decided to give it a shot today. The food was delicious. I got a #2 and my partner got a build your own. The staff was friendly and the place has a view of the pool. You can people watch as you eat. The coffee was delicious as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Decided to try a new bagel spot and it was so worth it. Probably the most perfect texture and flavor combo in a bagel that I've ever had. I got the garlic bagel with veggie cream cheese toasted. This bagel was too damn good. I could tell that I got there after a huge lunch rush the guy working needed a minute to clean up a bit. Still so friendly and I got my bagel in less than 5 mins. So far probably the best bagel I've had in the area.
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
My first visit, after I became so frustrated with the place up the street that I swore off. Wholy Bagel is at least a step above: real boiled bagels, online ordering that offers near infinite opportunities to customize, quick service. I'm a little annoyed at myself that I didn't try these folks earlier. At least I know about them now.
google avatar

Luke C.

Yelp
Best bagels in town as far as I'm concerned but the cleanliness of this place is kinda grossing me out. Also the "New hours" that have been new since 2020 makes me laugh.
google avatar

Britt C.

Yelp
Wholy Bagel self proclaims "authentic NY style bagels" but I don't think you'll find a single New Yorker who toasts their bagels. The amount of cream cheese varies depending on your order, pretty weak in one bagel and more than enough in the other. Overall the Wholy Bagel experience is best described with the word fine. When we visited in late November they were not allowing dine in, no big deal for us but just something to check on if you have a preference. Plenty of parking, good location. The search for an authentic bagel continues.
google avatar

Blair V.

Yelp
I tried the Nova Lox Breakfast Sandwich which came on the Everything but Bagel Bagel. I found the bagel to be a little bit on the dryer side but as a whole it was delicious. I liked the cream cheese and the gooey soft texture if gave the sandwich paired with the lox with the scrambled egg. My fiancé ordered the breakfast cheesesteak one which he gave it 5 stars. I'm not a big fan of cheesesteak in general but paired with this bagel it was pretty spot on. I definitely want to come back to try one of their bagels with a flavored cream cheese just to try something on the simpler side.
google avatar

Molly M.

Yelp
I got the #2 on an everything bagel vs the jalapeño cheddar. They were out of the jalapeño cheddar when I got there around 10a or so. Definitely go early in the morning to make sure that you have full access to what you might want. This bagel (not sure if it was the bagel itself, cream cheese, bacon, or whatever) was SUPER salty. And I love salt, but it was too much for me! Also got the cinnamon raisin bagel with the vegan cream cheese (forgot to take a pic) and loved it. Both two different tastes obviously, but the vegan was a great option. There's a lot of cream cheese on this one, so beware! Restaurant was somewhat small with a few dining areas, some patio outside. Definitely visit it if you're in the Austin area. Lots of options for any tastebud!
google avatar

Lucindia O.

Yelp
Wholly Bagel always hits the spot and never misses on flavor and customer service! Even though we don't live in NW hills, it's always a treat when we get to enjoy Wholly Bagel during soccer season! Great job to the whole team there!

Yelp
Came three weeks after the much anticipated opening of Wholy Bagel. So happy to have them here as Biderman's bagel game was decidedly weak. As far as the bagels themselves go, I think they're some of the best! (... for Austin.) IMO, they're still as good as actual New York or Florida bagels. The outsides were delightfully chewy as they should have been, but the crumb (the bready insides of the bagel) still had a texture of baked bread rather than a more chewy bagel. To try the base bagel we shared an egg bagel which I felt lacked that deep eggy and slightly sweet flavor. J and I shared the #4 (everything bagel, scrambled egg, nova lox, onion and cream cheese) and the more traditional bagel and lox. She very much liked her sandwich (#4). The bagel and lox was similarly good. A bit odd that serving it open costs more (ostensibly for double the lox although I don't know how you'd put less lox on it.) They have a few tables and chairs but the store is small. Chairs to seat twelve IIRC and a few more people standing. Definitely not a place inviting you to stay and have a meal there. In fact, our "for here" order was wrapped to go. I'm super happy that Wholy Bagel is finally in NW Austin.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolute BEST bagels in Austin! This place has literally been my go-to place for well over a decade, back when there was only the south location. They are literally the closest you'll get to NY bagels without a plane ticket. Hell, over been to NY many times and I STILL will choose this place over many up there. I've tried just about every one they have but my favorite is the everything bagel. It is so delicious, especially toasted with their angry Texas cream cheese. They make all their cream cheeses and have so many to choose from as well. If you want a great bagel with delicious cream cheese, or maybe a sandwich with lox or deli meat.
google avatar

Clem F.

Yelp
I'm always asking my wife to go here with me. Today I got the opportunity to show her how good this place can be.... Aaaannnnnnd we were disappointed. Wrong order and ran out of everything bagels. Totally understand how they would let her order the bagel of choice only to later say that they didn't have it... But the bagels are right behind the register so um yeah frustrating. Wife ordered bagel, cream cheese, and lox. She got lox scramble. Oof. You all earned 2 stars because 1 out of the 5 employees I saw was wearing gloves while prepping orders. Guess we'll keep going to Bidermans.
google avatar

Lily B.

Yelp
I'd give this place all the stars in the world I've never felt more at home walking into a business. For someone who struggles with severe anxiety, the small location and friendly staff always make me feel at ease. I'm moving to Oregon for college and I wish I could take Wholey Bagel with me, I hope when I come back on holidays they still have my favorite order, I love y'all this is the best bagel place ever.
google avatar

Maritza M.

Yelp
Love the breakfast bagel sandwiches here. We always get sesame bagels, toasted, with 2 fried eggs and cheddar cheese. They do such a nice job cooking the eggs. Also appreciate that they offer 3 different coffee roasts. Staff is courteous and everything is very covid safe! My only complaint is that the only sweet cream cheeses are chocolate chip and blueberry. I get blueberry for a bagel with cream cheese but wish there was a honey-walnut style option too. Be sure to plan/call ahead if it's a holiday weekend. Rolled up one time and had to get plain bagels because they were out of literally everything else. Fortunately the plain bagels are good but lesson learned.

Yelp
Definitely more of a grab-and-go place vs a sit down and soak up the morning smells and views place. I walked in on a Saturday around 10am and there wasn't a line to speak of...there were a handful of folks waiting for their orders, but no snake of a queue to get up to the front. They have a lot of options and a lot of signs around the cashier with even more options/specials, so it's a lot to take in. Take a menu and do a quick scan for the hand written stuff and then move out of line to really digest it all. I wasn't in the mood to girls gone wild it and make some bagel concoction with a bunch of different fixins so I just went for one of their signature breakfast bagels, the #2 from Big Al's favorites, which was a jalapeño cheddar bagel (my fave three words when it comes to bfast prob), hickory smoked bacon, egg, and TX loaded cream cheese. It was $7.50 but now that I'm looking at the menu (so I could get the description right), I noticed if I had designed my own with exactly the same ingredients it would have only been $5.50. I was duped! Not sure if they pack more in for the signature bagel sandwiches, but it didn't feel like it was spilling out every which way to make me stop and appreciate its heftiness. It was a fine bfast sandwich...the cream cheese did all the heavy lifting and sometimes you just need that. I also ordered the pickle from Pickle House for $1.25 (or $1.75, can't recall). I think I kind of would have liked that IN my bagel sandwich! Does that make me a freak? If so, let me get my freak on! Great alternative to chips if you're looking for a crunch. The check-in offer for a complimentary cup of coffee is a nice gesture!

Yelp
I see a lot of New Yorkers saying this isn't like a NY bagel and to those people I say - who cares? it's delicious. the lox is top notch.
google avatar

Litza G.

Yelp
These bagels are unlike all the chain restaurants... they are authentic NY-style bagels unmatched by any other bagel company in the Austin area. You won't regret eating here or picking up an order. I dare say you will become a regular. :)

Yelp
I just tried this place after having it on my list for a while, and I was very happy to be able to get a very good bagel and very good cream cheese! My wife got the blueberry bagel with blueberry cream cheese, and the first thing worth noting is the THICK layer of cream cheese included - it's very generous, and you likely won't be hungry afterwards. And I really liked the bagel and the cream cheese both having a mild fruity sweetness. I did also try the egg sandwich, an everything bagel with egg and pepperjack cheese, and while that was a bit less impressive since only a single egg and single cheese vs the thickness of the bagel doesn't quite work, perhaps it would have been better if i had also added meat. That being said, the flavors were still definitely there and the bagel being a bit more than i expected of the breakfast sandwich flavor isn't as much of a problem when their bagels are so tasty. As far as options, there are a ton of sweet and savory options of both bagels and cream cheeses, I'm going to have to go back!

Yelp
Came to Wholy Bagel because someone recommended me this place for bagel. I ordered nova lox. Choice of bagel, cream cheese, tomatoes, red onion and capers. The gentleman asked if I wanted to be toasted and I said yes. Check-in through yelp and you'll receive a free cup of coffee. Coffee was not good and the temperature was not even hot. Sat down and ate my bagel and it was hard as a rock, could not finish my nova lox (only ate half). What a waste of appetite and food.

Yelp
Pretty good bagels, but nowhere near the ones I've had in NYC. Stopped here for a quick breakfast. Service was quick and friendly, and prices were reasonable. I had a rye bagel with strawberry cream cheese. Not the best selection on my part: the salty rye didn't go well with the sweet strawberry cream cheese. The bagel itself was rather small, and they were also a bit skimpy on the cream cheese. Despite being toasted, the outside of the bagel was not crispy enough. The inside was nice and chewy though. I might come back again to try different flavors (that angry Texas cream cheese looks good!).

Alec G.

Yelp
Great team that takes care of you! Great Selection of Bagels and spreads. Highly recommend trying it out if you have never been, one of my favorites!

Yelp
I like what they are doing at Wholy Bagel. This is a local shop with New Jersey roots, baking bagels fresh daily, mixing cream cheese spreads, and putting together traditional and not-so traditional deli sandwiches on bagels. Store was clean. Counter service ordering and pick up of food was friendly, courteous and efficient. While the shop is small, there are several tables and a counter along the window for dining in. Open every day of the week at 7, this is a great option from which to pick up a "Texas dozen" (14) bagels and spread to take to the office or your weekend gathering. We particularly enjoyed the Fish Fest that they had at this location on a recent Sunday where they had flown in whole smoked fish from ACME Smoked Fish of Brooklyn, NY. The smoked fish options for adding to bagels or to package and take home were top quality and delicious. Keep watching social media and the newspapers for any future special events like this.

Yelp
Weirdly enough, the bagels from Wholy Bagel in Texas are the closest thing I've tasted to my beloved NY bagels. My hubby agrees as well and he is a Long Island native. Can't wait to get these on my next trip to TX which will be a lot sooner than my next trip to NY.

Yelp
I was initially excited to find a place in Austin that had sun dried tomato cream cheese as an option, but I have no idea what was wrong with the bagels themselves... I bought two, and ordered them un-toasted since I was about 1/2 an hour from being able to eat, and I hate it when bagels seize up from heating and then cooling too quickly. So imagine my surprise when I got home and both bagels were rock hard and almost inedible. I scraped off the cream cheese and stuck them in the toaster, which loosened them up a tiny bit, but I couldn't even finish one, and it left my jaw aching from the effort of trying to chew. I've never had a "fresh" bagel be that hard. I have no idea what caused that texture, but whatever it was, it's something that should never be done to a bagel. On the plus side, they're generous with the cream cheese and service is friendly, but yeah... Also, I had half of each bagel, so it wasn't just the one. I might try them again in case this was a really off day, but if so, I'm not going to wait until I'm home to try a bite.

Yelp
Solid 8/10. I come from NJ and had a good time with the flavor of the bagel. Garlic and herbs cream cheese is solid, bacon is crispy but not to the point of disintegrating in your mouth. Toasted bagel had good crispiness while retaining structure. Price to size ratio is a bit disproportionate but can confirm it's a good try. Keep up the good work!
