The Best Food and Restaurant Pop-Ups in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"I look for Gödtoh, based in Decatur and often popping up at breweries around Atlanta, for their “hardcore” hot dogs and burgers like a sloppy pimento burger and a mushroom-and-tangy-Swiss cheesetopped burger — and I keep an eye out for their shrimp po’boy burger." - Beth McKibben

Google
Decided to check this place out after passing by plenty of times. When I tell you I wish I would have been checked them out. Their food is a 10/10 highly recommend! Everything was good! Fresh and homemade! Very much worth the money! Portion size is perfect! Have some for now and later. Don’t for get to check out their cakes! Had the red velvet and it was delicious and super moist! When I want some real soul food cooking and don’t feel like cooking this will be my go to spot!

Google
True rating is 4.5 - The food was fresh, very flavorful and most importantly hot. Every item was good. The meats were tender and the sides were some of the best I’ve had in Metro Atlanta. Nothing was dry or overcooked. Customer service was top notch and the restaurant was clean. I highly recommend giving them a try.

Google
I’m not even going to put any stars in the food category because it’s undeserving. This has to be some of the sorriest soul food I’ve had in Atlanta, and I’ve lived here well over 20 years. The dressing almost tasted like mashed up muffins with gravy on top. It had a very off putting sweet flavor, a strange texture and I feel as if it may have been over cooked. I even tried it with and without the cranberry sauce and I still couldn’t make myself eat it. The greens were covered in what appears to be GRIT! Aka DIRT. There are light and dark specks all throughout the greens that clearly isn’t seasoning. I’m still unsure of what it was. They also had a weird flavor maybe liquid smoke? The Mac and cheese is the only thing on the plate I finished. It was good. Traditional southern Mac no frills. The service was fine and I got in and out quick.

Google
The pinto beans had sugar in them and should have been cooked longer, the collards was good, the baked chicken was dry, the rice was gummy and the cornbread okay. All in all today was a miss. I wanted it to be good and remember I come here as a last resort when I want some soul food.

Google
I went here on 5/20/2025.I got the turkey wings dinner delicious. I been here previously awhile back. I also been to one of the other locations before the food was delicious there to. The cashier here is wonderful with the meal prep and asking questions about the gravy for the dressing and wings. The wings come on a bed of rice and 2 sides. I got dressing and Mac and cheese with my corn muffin and I got the lemonade mixed with the peach punch.

Hershell F.

Google
I had the meatloaf, with collard greens and Mac and cheese, cornbread. The collard greens were off the chain, but the Mac and cheese was dry and lacked consistentcy, moisture. The mac and cheese tasted like they had made a few months ago.I told the cashier this when she came by my table. Also the apple cobbler is good. The cobbler tasted good, not too sweet.

Google
The food was terrible! I hate that I decided to come here as my “cheat day” on my eating plan. The food smelled like it was burnt. The meat loaf was mushy. I didn’t even eat it. The key like cake was stale and didn’t taste right. I only took one bite and spit it back out. The potato salad tasted old and like there was something wrong with it. I couldn’t eat more of it after spitting out the first bite. I won’t be coming back. It was a waste of money.

Yelp
It's been a minute since I been to this location. I came here first awhile back and then I been to the Duluth or Lawrenceville location that is in a strip of stores. The food was delicious at that location also. The cashier customer service here at this location is wonderful. Very thorough taking care of the customer order. I was asked did I want the gravy definitely on the dressing and the turkey wings.. The turkey wings come on a bed of rice with the choice of 2 sides dressing and Mac and cheese also the cashier asked did I want the cranberry sauce of course. I I also got the lemonade mixed with the peach punch.. Delicious food from a great place easy to get in and out the parking lot. I went here on 5/20/2025

Yelp
Tucked just off the highway with a small parking lot out front, this spot is easy to get to--even if you miss the turn like I did. I stopped nearby for something else, got a recommendation from a local, and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. The building has great curb appeal--fresh paint, clean signage, and a tidy appearance that pulls you in. Inside, it's a casual, counter-service setup with a clean, open dining room and a few booths around the edge. The vibe is informal and welcoming. The food is served cafeteria-style: you pick your meat and sides, and they plate it for you. While the default seems to be takeout, you're welcome to sit and eat there. I went with the baked chicken, which comes with rice and gravy and includes two sides. I picked cabbage and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was exactly what you'd hope for--cheesy, creamy, smooth, and flavorful with satisfying cheese pulls in every bite. The cabbage was cooked just right--tender but not mushy--with great seasoning. The rice and gravy had deep, balanced flavor without being too salty or heavy. In fact, nothing was oversalted, which is a rare and welcome surprise in a small spot like this. The meal also came with a small cornbread muffin that hit the spot. Dessert options included hot cobblers like apple and peach, along with a tempting variety of cake slices--all of which looked fantastic.

Yelp
This place is really good. It's clean and has space to sit down. The ribs tips plate was prefect. I also had the greens and mac n cheese. The service was very acceptable. Some of the menu items like the oxtails are more expensive than other places nearby ($32).

Yelp
Love this spot! Im from 125th NYC and the soul food there hits different for me growing up in that area. This place was super nostalgic. Great music. The staff was awesome and bought home so much take out to share with the fam.

Yelp
Good service, nice people, clean establishment. The food just did not taste good. It may have been because it was close to the end of the day.
google avatar

Vanessa E.

Yelp
Horrible service. Was ignored for 20 minutes. Very uncomfortable environment. They will prioritize other customers over people who came in first. Food is left out for all the elements to effect. AVOID.
google avatar

Christie B.

Yelp
They would have more stars if they had more seating! There's only three booths and I have a family of 7. The peach cobbler was also all mushy. No real crust. Mac was bomb! Peach drink is a must. They were also out of Strawberry shortcake. The order takers were sweet and patient as they didn't rush our large order. Also, I was not a fan of the rib tips. Tasted like stew pieces in bbq sauce lol. But the smothered pork chop and fried chicken were tasty. Everything was also savory and seemed to be fresh!

Yelp
I actually love this place. Anytime I want a home cooked meal this is my first option beyond having to cook myself. I visited May 29th with the same attitude but was highly disappointed with my veggie plate. I usually get the three veggie option with Mac and cheese, green beans or squash, and rice and gravy or mashed potatoes with gravy. This day seemed as if there was a different person cooking and everything was under seasoned, the mashed potatoes were very lumpy, the Mac and cheese was dry, and the green beans tasted undercooked. I cannot say that this is their normal, but this visit was very disappointing.

Alexandra W.

Yelp
I was not happy with the food. Defini wasn't for my taste pallet. I usually do not like to leave derogatory comments however the establishment is extremely overpriced for such a poor quality of southern homestyle dishes. There are a few other recommendations for a fraction of the price.

Yelp
Ordered via Uber eats. This is A decent place for soul food. To me the meatloaf is my favorite. The neat doesn't have a funny smell and doesn't taste funny. Sides: I've had the cornbread dressing (ok kinda dry not thanksgiving grade but ok if u have a taste for dressing), candied yams (dry and not sweet at all. Funny consistency), potato salad (not the best definitely doesn't taste like mine) I would try other items from this restaurant. It's a decent place to eat if you're in the mood for soul food.

Hermano A.

Yelp
Our food is always full of flavor and served at the right temperature. They provide a healthy serving of each item and the servers are friendly. I'm a fan of the 4-veggie plate. My family and friends love the baked chicken, baked turkey wings, meatloaf, and ox tails. We have eaten here many times and will be back soon.

Yelp
I picked up lunch for my office ... I've been a supporter for years and have yet to be disappointed... my WHOLE office is in LOVE!!!

Andrea H.

Yelp
Hadn't been in a while, so today my son reminded me of this place . Got it to go . I must say there's nothing wrong with using seasonings. The food was very bland. I was so hungry and now I'm so disappointed there was no party in my mouth.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the only place I will go when wanting to buy soul food. It's 30 mins from home so I will drop in whenever I'm in the area. Today I ordered food and requested gravy on my chicken and dressing. When I got home I saw that neither meal had gravy as requested. When I called back to let them know that gravy was not provided that suggested I drive back and I overheard the manager saying that I did not f he eat charged for the gravy. Who wants a dressing with no gravy? The food was still tasty but it would have been even better had it been prepared as I requested. The customer service is always a dice game. Check your food before you drive all the way home to avoid disappointment,

Yelp
Love, love, love this restaurant, because the food tastes like Mama made it!!! My favorite meat is the choice between the smothered pork chops and the rib tips. The candy yams are made with perfection. Not too sweet yet full of flavor. I also love the fact that it is cafeteria stove, so the meals are packaged quickly, and you can watch them prepare it so that if you want extra gravy or more rice, you can ask for it. This is a must stop shop for good old country Cookin!!!

Yelp
Keep driving. Especially if it's the one on Covington Highway. If you read my reviews, I don't have a pattern of going in on a business. I own a business also. I get it... but what I got today... No. It was so bad the Grubhub driver sent a text to warn me about the food presentation cause they handled it so poorly. Oxtails were all over the bag like they'd been trying to twerk! Secondly, a whole meal missing. And the food we did receive, which included substitutions? No. We broke up.

Yelp
My nephew was raving about the place so we got there half / hour and 40 minutes before closing. I wanted baked chicken but they had barbecue chicken so I got that's/ yellow rice and black-eyed peas, the chicken was a little dry , I told my nephew and he told me to try it again so I went today lunch time I ordered the whiting fish w/yellow rice Black Eyed Peas and it was right on the money. so lesson learned for me is never go to a food place 40 min before closing. Glad I gave the place a second look. Mike NYC

Angela D.

Yelp
I ordered Smoked chicken wings with collard greens and Mac & Cheese. I must say the best thing was the smoke chicken wings and corn muffin. The too much vinegar used in the collard greens. Mac & Cheese let me just say it could have baked for 30 more minutes.

Tyquan H.

Yelp
This place is terrible please dont order from here these people need a new chef the food is disgusting not preped correctly i would advise you not to order from here

Yelp
Bloody meat and bad attitudes. I ordered a two turkey wing dinner. It was obvious that the y'all girl with glasses was annoyed because of how she was speaking to her co workers. She also called my number and then told me it was not ready. She called me back up about 10 minutes later and just had me stand there after a few minutes I just checked my food and asked her for cornbread. She said I wasn't done packing your food. Why call me up here if my food is not ready? She continues doing everything else then places the cornbread and dinnerware in the bag. No thank you she looked at me like "what else do you want" after waiting for my food for 20 minutes I just left. I get home and my turkey wings are bloody and inedible. I've spent 100's if dollars here over the years and recommend other to since in you establishment. That ends now!

Yelp
This was my first time trying Who's Got Soul Southern Cafe. The soul food wasn't the best I've ever had but definitely not the worst. What stood out though was the customer service. Everyone working there had outstanding and upbeat attitude, something you don't run into that often these days. The cafe is doing to go orders only, no indoor dining. Only a certain number of people are allowed inside at one time so there's someone at the door letting you know when to come in. The set up is cafeteria style, choosing from a selection of pre made hot dishes that are plated for you. Once you place your order, you're given a pager and asked to wait outside. Once your pager vibrates you can come back in and pick up your order. I ordered two plates of baked white meat chicken with 2 sides ($11.21 each). The plates consisted of a baked breast and wing with gravy, yellow rice, collard greens, mac and cheese, mixed vegetables and cornbread. The chicken was pretty good, well seasoned and not dry. The gravy however was lacking flavor. It was there but I couldn't taste it. The yellow rice could've cooked just a little longer, it still had a bite to it. The collards were ok, slightly tangy. The mixed vegetables were overly spiced, too much pepper. The best part of the entire dinner were the cornbread muffins and the mac and cheese! The buttermilk muffins were fluffy and golden with just a hint of sweetness and the mac and cheese tasted just like oven baked homemade mac should taste. If soul food isn't your cup of tea, they also offer desserts that looked absolutely delicious! Everything from cobblers and banana pudding to a wide variety of cake flavors to suit any palette.

Yelp
We got in the place and place our order I got the meatloaf dinner and the shrimp and CHIPS. At the time of payment the machine vanished the order in the middle of me typing my check card code. It took a moment to reset and they asked me a few times if I wanted shrimp and fries I kept pointing at the menu saying CHIPS but they kept saying fries SOO ok! fries it is. Then I was asked about the coke slaw... is my first time in the place so I don't know... I replied: I guess... I was able to finally pay. Then I'm informed they have no more hush puppies if I was willing to take cornbread instead I said ok. We were told to sit it was going to be a moment and it was... We finally got our meals I proceeded to check the plates and they forgot the cornbread... we had to wait a while longer... I was getting frustrated so I asked if they could give me a scoop of the dressing instead and the lady told me that the dressing by itself is $5 but the cornbread was about to come out in just a few more minutes. The cornbread came out they asked how many plates I had I said two, they asked if I said three I said no just two they behaved like I insisted on three so talk among themselves that they gave me two plates and gave me two pieces. I tasted my shrimp and it was ok, the fries are terrible my boyfriend agreed and he loves them. He tasted his meal and it was not that good... the meatloaf was not hearty at all. It needed onions, bell peppers... some more bread perhaps SOMETHING. I will NEVER go back... promise. I have to add one more thing, we let the dog eat the rest of the meatloaf and she would not eat it at first...it was the last thing she ate from the plate

Keisha T.

Yelp
I don't think anyone knows how to cook greens anymore. I asked my son how did he like the greens and he said they tasted funny. Not sure why people won't cut the stems out of collards!!! The baked chicken was dry and tasteless. The macaroni and cheese was good

Desiree T.

Yelp
Food is usually good, but tonite, not so much! Spousal unit and I stopped in for a bite, I ordered fish platter(catfish, whiting, shrimp, 2 sides, HUSH PUPPIES). Got it to go, we live 12 miles out. Got home, catfish was tilapia and whiting was fried so hard it was dry and not edible! Cornbread I received after asking server was hush puppies in there she assured me they were, WERE NOT! Cornbread was a hockey puck! Sweet potatoes still had skins on and slaw was a bit sour as if it were old. Banana pudding was good. Now normally I would have taken it back but I was so mad it would not have bn good for anybody! So they are normally good, I'm going to see if someone reaches out to me to make this right, if not lost business.

Yelp
My friend and I were in the area of this restaurant around 8:30pm. We were so excited to look up see a Soul Food restaurant as I did not know one was in the area. I made a U turn, parked and almost knocked my friend down in a race to get the biggest slice of soul food cake. We were surprised they were still open. As soon as we opened the door we saw all the cakes lined up in the refrigerated display. We were so excited when we learned they were organized by popularity, the coconut cakes were first in line, then the red velvets were next, sitting next to the red velvets were the key limes. Boy, were we getting excited by all the different choices of flavors. Yum, so we thought, we couldn't wait to get home to our surprise dessert. Next to the key limes were the strawberry cakes. All making the decision even harder for us. There were so many choices, we were just smiling, couldn't hide it. With much consideration we finally decided on the key lime slice. We even asked which was the best seller, red velvet and keylime was pointed out so we knew we had made the right choice. Our cake was a WHOPPING four dollars a thin slice, we knew then it had to be good. The slices were very small for four dollars. We carried on anyway, couldn't wait to get home to try it. Got home, opened the cake containers the most pungent smell hit our noses. We tasted it anyway. Even though the smell was so over whelming we tried to eat it because it did taste good, to our surprise. We were so disappointed because the smell got worst as we ate the cake. I had paid $8.08 for the two small slices, so I really tried to enjoy it, so did my friend. We just couldn't finish it, we feared we'd get sick. We really couldn't figure out why the cake smelled so bad, I still wanted to eat it however I just couldn't. My friend stopped eating a long time before me. I'm not going to say what caused the smell because we really didn't know. The old saying came to my mind serval times, I didn't even want to tell my friend that it seemed they really put their foot in it, that's exactly how it smelled like old socks. We had high hopes for the keylime cake.

Yelp
Haven't been since pre-Covid and I was craving some good soul food so decided to go back. I can't vividly remember my experience from years past, but it must have been better than this. I had the smothered pork chop meal with mac & cheese and cornbread dressing. The mac & cheese didn't have the southern soul food mac & cheese flavor I was expecting. The cornbread dressing tasted like stove top and it was orange - How is cornbread dressing orange? The smothered pork chops were flavorless and dry. My wife had the barbecue chicken which was dry and unseasoned the only seasoning was the barbecue sauce and that didn't even taste good. She also had the mac & cheese and the collard greens. The collard greens were too sweet and the mac & cheese again didn't have the flavor that we were expecting. For these prices I was expecting more however receive a lot less will not be going back.

Termeeka W.

Yelp
I had the 4wing dinner.. the chicken was okay, the greens were under-cooked and rubbery, and SOMEBODY thought it was a good idea to sweeten the potato salad.... DISGUSTING!!! I pray this was an unfortunate mishap in the kitchen because in 52 years I've NEVER heard of adding SUGAR to potato salad, especially at a soul food joint. Y'all gonna have a whole lotta disappointed, even ANGRY customers!

Yelp
Who's Got Soul was voted as one of the best soul food restaurants in metro Atlanta, according to a recent AJC article. I think for the most part, they live up to that standard. Favorite menu items include turkey wings, collard greens, yams, baked chicken, pork chops, and their corn bread. Pretty much everything I've had here has been good, and the quantity matches or exceeds the price. They even recently remodeled and slightly expanded the interior. I do like how most of the food is already made, so even if there is a long line, you still receive your food in a timely manner. My wish is for the improvement on service. It can vary, and staff appear to have changed frequently over the years we have been here. And tonight when we dined, they close at 9 pm, but they were selling out of a lot of foods by 8 pm. However, when a customer tried to eat in the dining area around 8:15 pm, they said the lobby area was closed. When we were still eating, they were already cleaning up the dining area and putting up chairs. When we left at 8:30 pm, they closed the main gate in the front, making the restaurant appear closed altogether. I just think if you close at 9 pm, you should close at 9 pm. Parking can be tricky during busy hours (especially Sunday afternoons). They have a parking space, but it is very limited, so sometimes people park illegally on the street to the right. Overall, this place is close to home and they have pretty good soul food, so we will see them again.
google avatar

Adria D.

Yelp
Well I will say the turkey and rice was decent. The baked chicken bland, the corn and peas were too sweet, and the dressing probably was the worst I ever had. My son had fried chicken and green beans that was not bad. I'm not sure why there is a line outside but if I have to go there I can do the fried chicken not pictured. Just an okay for my family. We're new in the neighborhood and needed to try it out.
google avatar

Yelp
I like their food. I don't like their phone hospitality it was dry, and sassy. As if I was brother their business with my money and time, my experience was tainted. I was really looking forward to the type of pleasant and delicious food after driving miles to get some soul food. Again it was the representative that should have been a little more appreciative to the patriots that drive from their workplace or home stead to enjoy a well cooked meal. I like their food I don't like their phone Attitude Good luck on ordering over the phone. Maybe you will have the owners train their people to smile through the phone orders.

Antwonette H.

Yelp
Im not sure if the other rating was legit but the food was Bussin! They had just put fresh stuff out on walk in.
google avatar

Reta W.

Yelp
Food is great. Will eat there again and have. The people who works there are good and funny people. Keep up the good work .
google avatar

Briana V.

Yelp
It is so incredibly sad what has happened to this business. They used to be friendly, caring, nice people and I don't know if it was the pandemic or or what but I think they went under new management and not only does the food not have the same quality the people are not very nice. I got one of their cakes and it was hard and old and stale and it was expensive! Who's got soul has a lot of potential and pre-Covid I would have given them five stars but since being back since the pandemic it has been awful. I will not step foot in there again until their attitude change and the food quality becomes better!

Daren H.

Yelp
Riding passed and saw a line. I stopped cause I was hungry. Line moved quickly only 4 people at a time was allowed inside. I ordered bake chicken with 2 sides rice is included. Sides were yams and mac and cheese. Also ordered rib tips same sided. Let me tell you the yams were so good. The rib tips were okay expected to have a smoke taste. I know that I will vome back again. Pricing is reasonable and selection is good. Quality and quantity is awesome. I couldn't eat my dinner in 1 seating..I recommend

Yelp
Nope, nope, nope. Do not eat from this place! I got 3 fried chicken wings, mac and cheese and yams. Yall, I got so sick from this food! I read the reviews and decided to try it, that was a big mistake. The food was tasteless, but I paid a lot of money for my food so I decided I will put a little salt and pepper on it and go with it. When I say I became so ill after eating that food, I'm saying I was a mess. I had to pull over three times to vomit! I waited 20 minute for chicken that had no seasoning, the macaroni and cheese was cheese stuck on to some pasta and the yams taste like the metal cans they came out of. Take heed people! If you are considering let me just tell you the food is costly and not just to your pocket. THIS IS NOT A GOOD SOUL FOOD RESTAURANT!!!!!!

Amber G.

Yelp
The food is BOMB! Especially the Turkey wings! People are nice and servings are generous. LOVE this place, moved out of state and came back 6 years later. Food is just as good! GO!

Yelp
Always good whenever i can visit Foods are great Customer service good Foods delicious Memorial drive "this is it" Has come a ways Foods delicious!!

Yelp
Went and tried The red velvet cake. It was way too sweet. And Didn't taste that good. Carrot cake was okay. Didn't try the actual food.
google avatar

Marcus S.

Yelp
Food was JUST alright! Not a place I would return too. I wouldn't say it's worth the money and I'm not one to complain about the price as long as the quality is equal to the price. They literally charge for everything, down to the BBQ sauce. The lady who took our order was definitely having a tough day or it may just have been her personality but the attitude is enough to not want to utilize establishment again. Best bet is to head to a soul food in the city.

Yelp
Went back a couple of weeks ago, twice, and great service! I believe she was owner who greeted us as soon as we walked in both times and she is a sweetheart. Food was really good. Love when the cabbage still has a crunch and the collards don't have a ton of meat in them. Rice was flavored just rice and mixed squash was really tasty. It's easy to miss, but don't you'll enjoy.

Bridget C.

Yelp
Don't go after 6 pm. They did not have that many options because they ran out of food. The oxtails weren't tender and the flavor was ok. The chicken was dry. I will try again earlier in the day and not assume this is the norm.

Z P.

Yelp
They limit the amount of people in the restaurant due to COVID. Had turkey wings and baked chicken which were good. I love their turmeric rice. The desserts were amazing. I also Liked their black eye peas, pinto beans and corn.

Yelp
I was on my way to Fellini's and noticed that the parking lot for this place was packed. I've seen a few restaurants come and go at this location. The parking lot can hold only about 15 cars. But I've never seen it packed. So I had to stop. I was glad that I did. The food was fresh and good. The service was friendly. It's your typical cafeteria style soul food place. They cook the veggies without pork!! Some items are cooked to order, like fish and chicken. I ordered the fried chicken wing dinner (3 whole wings). The cashier informed me that it would take take about 15 minutes because the chicken is cooked to order. For my two sides, I ordered collard greens and mac and cheese. the chicken was great, nicely seasoned and crispy. The mac and cheese was so creamy and delicious. The greens were just right. And the peach cobbler good, not too sweet. The only reason that I didn't give this place five stars is that they have no salads on the menu. No potato salad or tossed salad. Their web site is www.whosgotsoulcafe.com.

Yelp
The food is okay. A little on the pricey side for the amount of you get and it doesn't taste as good as "Mo Better Chicken"

Yelp
Disappointed today. Came in after not visiting the establishment for some time. I ordered the 3 piece whole chicken wing dinner w/mac n cheese and cabbage. Didn't really think about it but the gentleman who gave me my food didn't open the container to show me my food like they normally do because when I got home I had collard greens and not cabbage. The reason I ordered the chicken because it was just coming out, disappointed chicken was NOT seasoned at all. Didn't taste salt, no pepper NOTHING. The greens all I could taste was smoke flavoring and sugar. Mac n cheese was decent. I ordered peach cobbler as well it was TRASH. One small taste and into the garbage it went. I would've called back and complained but the signs of NO REFUNDS NO EXCHANGES that you have all over your counters and windows in my opinion wouldn't have made any difference.

Yelp
I don't know if the management of this location changed but my experience today was less than ideal. I haven't been to this location (Covington hwy) in a few months. I always get the turkey wing dinner and a banana pudding. Upon entering it was packed which is a good sign. I got through the line quickly however the cashiers attitude was aggressive and short. When my mine was called I stood and waiting and was looked at as if I did something wrong for standing waiting on my order. When someone finally asked me what I needed I replied by telling her my number was just called. Her reply in a aggressive argumentative tone was she didn't no what was going on and a bunch of other unnecessary conversation instead of just figuring out of my dinner were ready. To add insult to injury my $3 banana pudding that is usually delicious had one small scoop in the container not even filled up inside the container and it tasted dated. Having good food overall doesn't mean customer service should be diminished. I'm very unhappy with this visit.

Yelp
You know how you drive past a little hole in the wall type place and you think: hey, I bet that's a spot that's dong it really big. I've got to try it someday. But you never go inside. You just drive past it day after day, maybe even for years. I was in that boat with this restaurant but today, today I decided to go inside. First off let me say that the staff was polite, courteous and very professional. I ordered the oxtails, with mac & cheese and collards. The food was... atrocious and that's being kind. I don't know if they cook their oxtails in a pressure cooker or not not but they should. The meat was so tough I though I was chewing bubblegum. The flavor wasn't too bad. It was by no means seasoned perfectly but I could live with the mediocre flavor. I love mac & cheese, almost everyone I know does. It's crunchy, it's cheesy, it's gooey, it's perfection... when it's made right. I don't know if I can say this on Yelp but this mac & cheese was total shit! Who ever made this mac & cheese gave 0 fucks. When I tasted it, I felt like they were mad at me. It was almost like when Octavia Spencer brought that chocolate pie over to the people's house in "The Help". When you bite into this mac & cheese, just know that somewhere inside that restaurant someone is telling you, "Eat my shit". Now for the collards, point blank they were seasoned poorly and slightly undercooked. I think that for me one of the most offensive things about the collards was the fact that they felt it so necessary to add enormous chunks of stem in with my meal. Because the stems were so plentiful in my greens I will not accuse them of being canned, so there's that. I will however go ahead and say, they probably weren't fresh either. I gave this place one star because I couldn't give it any less. Do yourself a favor: SAVE YOUR MONEY. Don't eat here. Just forget they exist because if they keep passing that gutter trash off as food and people keep talking about it, they won't exist much longer.

Yelp
So of the best soul food I've had in a while. The macaroni and cheese and meatloaf was very delicious.
