I don't usually leave reviews, but our visit to Wicked Wolf Philadelphia was so frustrating that I felt compelled to share. The one bright spot in the entire experience was the hostess. She was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable--she greeted us with genuine hospitality and gave us hope that the night would go smoothly. Unfortunately, everything after that went downhill quickly.
From the start, there were issues. We ordered a ginger ale, but the syrup had run out. The waitress brought a glass of seltzer and asked me to taste it to confirm whether or not it was ginger ale (it wasn't), and then offered a Sprite instead. A small inconvenience, but one that hinted at the larger problems to come.
The waitress did not seem to know the menu and couldn't answer basic questions. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we waited 45 minutes before receiving our first dish--a burger. Oddly, our appetizer--nachos--arrived 15 minutes after that. We had asked for cheese on the side due to a lactose intolerance, but the nachos came cold, soggy, with barely any chicken, and drenched in cheese.
When we asked for an update on the rest of our order, the waitress said she'd check but never came back. After another 15 minutes, we received one of two orders of chicken wings. We were still missing a buffalo chicken quesadilla and a 10-piece bone-in wing order. Eventually, wings showed up, boneless, not bone-in, and the quesadilla was still "being worked on." At that point, we had been there for over 90 minutes and decided to cancel the remaining item.
As someone who worked in restaurants for many years, I never call for a manager. I understand that things happen and always try to be patient with staff. But this situation was beyond what's acceptable. We finally spoke to the manager, who briefly apologized and comped most of the meal, which was appreciated, but not enough to salvage the experience. The waitress never returned to check in on us at all.
Bottom line: Wicked Wolf has a great location and an exceptional hostess, but the service and kitchen are simply not equipped to handle even the basics of a dining experience. Cold food, long waits, incorrect orders, and complete lack of follow-through made for a deeply disappointing evening. We ended up walking elsewhere just to finally have dinner. I sincerely hope they improve, but right now, this is not a place I can recommend.
