Widowmaker Brewing

Stopped by Widowmaker Brewing for the first time. They don't offer flights, but offer a smaller half pour. Sampled a couple different beers on tap and all were pretty good. No Stouts on tap at the time. Ordered a pizza as well from the bar from Lennys pizza truck. It was delicious.

Best beer in the state! Good beer selection. Mike and Lenny Food on site at Braintree location. Bob Ross on TV. Dog friendly.

Excellent beer Usually pretty chill. Blue Comet and Almost Home are favorites. Food truck usually onsite. Excellent pizza. Not a sports vibe, so if you are looking to catch a game, unfortunately, this isnt the place.

This brewery just off the 93 in Braintree is a wonderful treat in this area with so many other well known big craft breweries. They just celebrated their 7th anniversary and based on the quality and selection they will be around a very long time. I have been in this area 2-3 times a year for the last 5 years and somehow (embarrassed to say) this was my first visit. They have some wonderfully reviewed beers on UnTappd and for very good reason. They have a very spacious tap room as well as a very nice outdoor space, and a very large selection of beers on tap . The beers stand on their own and a well crafted and delicious. Make a stop if you are traveling into or out of Boston on 93 or 95. You will not disappointed. Dogs are welcomed and the industrial warehouse is truly inviting inside.

Stopped in for a bite to eat and had a couple of the different ales available. A good time for pizza and beer enthusiasts alike.

Blue comet is one of the best IPA’s I’ve had on the east coast

Love it here. Great vibes bartenders are awesome and trivia night is so much fun. Plus there is a curfew on kids which trillium doesn't have. 10/10

Cool - more stoner metal than headbanger on a recent visit (on 4/20, so that tracks). All positive: sharp aesthetic; friendly, knowledgeable staff; plenty of parking and room for special events; food trucks; to-go options and merch; and the OG beer hearse. Similar enough to the newer Boston location that you can pick whichever is convenient, if not going for an event.

So after quite a bit of time, had the opportunity to swing by Widowmaker Brewing. I have had their beers at a variety of places but the timing never worked out to be able to actually visit. UNTIL TODAY! Great selection of beers for the enthusiast. Lots of IPA's , Double IPA's and a selection of Pilsner and Ales. I always choose the IPA's and had the Blue Comet and the Quarry IPA. Both were delicious and very nice. The place is very Pet-Friendly, with a dispenser for dog treats at the end of the bar. The place was loaded with tv's, so we sat back and enjoyed Week 0 of college football. The place has lots of seating and also has an outside area. Today was THICCY's Taco day. Had the chips and rojas sauce and they hit the spot. Great place to swing by and enjoy some great beers and food.

Widowmaker Brewing is a craft brewery that opened in Braintree, Massachusetts in September 2017. It was founded by business partners Ryan Lavery, Colin Foley and Bud Lazaro. Lavery and Foley met while playing in a men's hockey league. Lavery worked in pharmaceutical sales while Foley worked in finance. They soon learned that they shared a passion for homebrewing. They practiced their hobby in Lavery's basement and brewed everything from pale ales to stouts and porters. The partners soon became burned out in their office jobs and decided to quit and open a brewery. They decided to call their new venture "Widowmaker" as a reference to their former jobs: work that takes someone away from the people that they love. Lazaro came on board as an additional partner. After opening, the brewery's popularity grew very quickly; they went from a 7 barrel brewhouse to a 15 barrel brewhouse. In 2021, they opened a summer beer garden at Kilroy Square Farmers Market in Quincy Center. Lazaro later left the company and sold his interests to new partner Kenny Semcken. The current head brewer is Brady Heefner. Plans are currently underway to open a 5,000-square-foot brewpub location in Brighton. My son and I recently visited Widowmaker Brewing after a day of cycling in Boston. I looked to see if there were any good breweries in the area and Widowmaker came highly recommended. I was very impressed to learn that they've had several collaborations with notable breweries such as Equilibrium Brewery, Long Live Beerworks and Other Half Brewing. The atmosphere at the brewery was so chill and everyone was so friendly (staff and customers alike). Although Widowmaker doesn't offer traditional taster flights, they do offer short pours. I ended up sampling "Blue Comet" (New England IPA), "The Devil's Staircase" (New England IPA), "Candy Maker" (Peanut Butter Milk Stout), and "Interstellar Skylight" (Double New England IPA - Collaboration with Obercreek Brewing). Every single beer that I sampled was fantastic! In fact, I think that they are one of the best breweries I've visited in all of New England! Way to go guys! I look forward to your new Brighton location opening!

Good beer selection. No food is served here. Lots of dogs everywhere and live music some nights. Clean environment too!

The beer is very good. Not my favorite local, but you might think so. Besides, it's about the tap room, too. Great spot with regular hot trucks and dog friendly. Outside seating when it's nice. There's a stage inside for live music, too. Recently saw a show and it felt like a legit night club.

As soon as I saw the name of this brewery I knew I needed to try it! Lol! Steve and I got one of the beers from Widowmaker and we liked it fairly well. The Blue Comet was the name of the beer we had. It was a Hazy New England IPA which was very enjoyable. One of the better New England IPA's that I have had lately but that kind of holds up to my idea and experience that some of the best New England IPA's come from the East Coast and New England states. There are other promising beer selections as well and if the opportunity rises again I'd like to try a darker beer from Widowmaker like a porter or a stout.

My cousin and I visited Widowmaker for drinks while we were touring good breweries in the Boston area. This place definitely did not disappoint! Though we were staying in Boston, we drove out to Braintree because of the recommendations from others. The night we visited, they had eight beers on tap, not a huge amount. They don't do flights, only half pours. But I will say that their half pours are about "75% pours." Can't be mad at that! The beers focused more on DIPAs and higher alcohol beers, if that is your style. There's plenty of parking around and there is a lot of space inside for groups. There were even birthday parties happening while we were there. A very convivial space and service was fast and friendly. Great beers.

Dog and kid friendly brewery! They even have a family restroom which was eqipped with a changing table and diaper pail. They had the AC cranking and this was our refuge on a hot summer day. Tried a couple New England IPAs and we liked the Weirdomaker very much. Will be sure to come back on our next trip up.

This is long overdue. We were in town for a wedding on Memorial Day weekend and scheduled an impromptu group party here that Thursday. Working with Kenny to get it scheduled was super easy and they were very professional. When we got there that night it was Matt behind the bar and Brian at the bar to help with choices. Could not have asked for better. This place has an incredibly relaxed vibe and, most importantly, fantastic beers. I will make sure to visit these folks again.

Good place nice vibe, not Cambridge crowded. Dog friendly. Convenient for the hotel folks on Wood Road.

First time coming here (1/23/21). Made a reservation online, though I don't think you have to. Clean, open space. Friendly staff who are happy to describe the beers, offer recommendations, and provide some samples upon request. Good mask and social distancing policies/practices. Beers themselves were really good. Had full pours of Blue Comet (IPA), Twin Comet (DIPA), Ecstasy of Gold (IPA), and Kameosa (rice lager). The IPAs were all different enough which is always appreciated when some breweries serve multiple NEIPAs that are similar to each other. All very smooth. Kameosa was unlike other rice lagers I've had but we thought it was great. Little more spice and floral notes. We were told they offer flights during non-COVID times. For now, full pours only, served in disposable cups. The only negative part of the experience was not Widowmaker-specific, but something they should consider. I understand the law in Massachusetts is that places that serve alcohol require you to purchase food too, but you need better/more/cheaper options. Food For Thought was the on-site food truck and all they had was overpriced nachos... Tiny portion of store-bought chips and fake cheese. We got the ones with sausage and roasted peppers which cost $16 (plus tax and tip, of course). Even if it weren't for the unreasonable price, what if you have a dairy allergy? Are you supposed to just pay for a handful of generic tortilla chips? I'm not going to knock Widowmaker for this in this review but they should know this is an issue. I want to spend my money on good beer, not low-quality snack food.

This brewery gets better and better every year. Definitely one of the best on the South Shore. Their sours especially are fantastic. They're also very dog-friendly, which is always a good thing.

This is a lovely brewery. We popped in for some beers ober memorial day weekend and sat outside with our dogs. They brought us out a large dog bowl of water right away. The beer was lovely and the food was good! I would def recommend!

One of my favorite breweries in Massachusetts. I think they're the most well-rounded brewery in Massachusetts. Great spot to go to after hiking the Blue Hills.

Great Brewery. Came up for a parent weekend and stayed at the hotel next door. Excellent music, food trucks, and the beer, especially the Vienna Lager is top notch/first class. We would stay at the hotel again just to go to this brewery!

My favorite brewery! Always nice people there, beers are on point. Sadly we moved shortly after I found it. But anytime I get near Braintree I'm there! Definitely a must see dogs welcome and new food all the time from local food trucks!

Amazing beer! I had a peanut butter stout aged in whiskey barrels and it was, like I said amazing. They have tons of beers and I will be trying all of them.

If you like 1) IPAs, 2) varied beverages with blended varieties, 3) def music including Redman, EPMD, Sermon/Smith, 4) lawn games, 5) picnic tables, 6) good folks slangin' fine suds, and 7) various sundry other wins like Das EFX and prompt service? Well, friend-o, you are in luck. Drop by, drink by, and ride-share out with your new friends because we all want efx. And the beverages warrant caution, smiles, care, and safety first. I knoooooooooooow you gonna dig this sh!t.

We were in the neighborhood and a friend suggested we check it out. What a great tap room. There is a ton of room with lots of seating and a huge parking lot. The staff is super friendly and helped make suggestion on what to try. We all went with sample racks and all the brews we had were delicious. They had lots of different styles so something for everyone. A snack station in the corner is a nice addition to cut the booze a bit. They have Crowley's to go if anything catches Your fancy to bring home. I'd recommend it for my fellow beer geeks to check out for sure. Cheers !

First timer here, great atmosphere. Service is great, very welcoming. Has a food truck incase you get hungry. Dog friendly also! Definitely recommend

Cool brewery with large taproom area. Beers were great and service was quick and friendly. Bartender who i think was the owner talked about the beers and brewing processes. we found the taproom to be clean and we had a great experience. Highly recommended.

Fantastic brewery! They are always coming up with creative beers. Last time I was there they had one with blueberries and Oreo. It sounds bizarre but a great combination. Like all places in the Covid world you have to order food. They have nachos available for purchase, plain or loaded. They are dog friendly. I think half the people there had a furry friend. It's a laid back atmosphere and in the summer they have patio seating.

Stopped by after hiking at the Blue Hills. This brewery is quite spacious with plenty of table spaces. They have board games, darts, ring on a rope thing, and corn hole. My favorite thing about this place is that they have free snacks! It's just gold fish, pretzals, cheezits, and animal crackers, but it's better than nothing! There was also a food truck outside if you needed real food to munch on. I got to try a flight of 4 different beers. They were all pretty good. My favorite was their milkshake beer. It sounds weird but definitely give it a try! It's not a stout. It's a cloudy-ish yellow color. Has a slightly creamy, vanilla finish. I noticed a lot of the tables said that they were reserved. But when I looked closer, it said reserved at 5pm, and it was only 2pm. So make sure you check the signs on the table before you sit down!

Great ambience. Dog friendly. Few card and board gaming options. Prices were decent. Would go again.bbbd.

I love this place! The beers are great and always changing, awesome food and super nice people. Best part of all is it's dog friendly even inside! So many doggos just hanging out being so well behaved - awesome place!

I was very excited to learn that my hometown had opened its own brewery. I was heading home for my parents 50th anniversary and my father and I decided to hit it up. We went in and it was a very cool industrial type vibe. The kegs were out in the open and there were many along family style tables. We went to the counter and it showed eight or nine beers on tap. I asked about getting a fight and was told yes they do flights of four but they were out of most of their beers due to an event they had a couple of days prior. As I do not drink IPAs there were only two options available to me. Both of the beers were pretty good, but nothing spectacular. I understand the brewery has only been open a couple of years but the fact that they ran out of beer after an event was very disappointing to me.

Had known this place was opening soon and accidentally googled it on opening day trying to find out when it opened. Grabbed my friend and went straight over. Place was busy but not overwhelming. I overheard one of the staff saying they weren't sure if anyone would come because they didn't make a big deal of the opening and just announced it on Facebook. The space is great. Plenty of seating, a few bar games set up music was a little loud but got a little more subdued as we sat. Beer is IPA and hops heavy for my taste but they had six ready to sample and one was a very tasty stout called donut shop. We met what I think had to have been one of the owners mothers. She was bussing tables and sat down and asked us how we liked the beer. She was adorable. Looking forward to seeing how this place evolves. It's so good to have another south shore brewery and so close to home!

Really great experience, the beer was very good and the environment was on point. Very clean, very friendly staff and also kid friendly!!!! We got a flight, liked all of our beers and ever grabbed a 4 pack to go home. I will definitely stop in again.

Not a huge Yelp reviewer but refer to it a lot for restaurants. We got referred by a worker at trillium brewing to go here. Upon this we looked to see what Widowmaker had and saw some beers we'd like to try. They had a beer that was highly rated on Untappd collaborated with a brewery and asked about it upon arriving. We were told they had none on draft but as we were closing out our tab they were very accommodating and added a can of the beer we were looking for to our order. If you want some solid beers and great service, look no further than widowmaker!

Widowmaker was literally across the street from my hotel, so it was a given that we would check it out. There is free parking and the brewery has a large space; on a Friday night we had a table to ourselves (and non-drinking partner was happy with free pretzels). Flights of four are $10 or you can go with a half pour for $3.50 or full pour for 7 - so definitely a star in the rating for being flexible and having options. Mostly IPAs and pale ales on the menu; with one stout and a Pilsner to round things out - so a little less variety there. Beers were good and solid, but I was literally coming from Trillium, so that's a tough act to follow any day. Friendly service and I loved the humor in the restrooms. I'm glad we stopped here and would definitely return.

Fantastic Brewery. Staff is friendly and attentive. Relaxing place to hang out/great alternative to bar. Agree with most other post here except the one regarding children. I have been here plenty of times and plenty of children around. Obviously it being a brewery you just cant let them run wild. Treat it as you would a restaurant or other similar establishment. On a cold friday night, we decided to head into braintree for a few drinks, and maybe some takeaway cans. First round ordered was the Peanut Butter Stout (There's No Wrong Way), and it was quite possibly the best I've ever had. Went a little hazier for the next round with their Quarry Juice, and it was a really solid DIPA offering. The staff at the bar was really helpful in discussing what beers to have, to try, the batches brewed, and have a chat. Didn't get to sample the food truck outside, but this was one of the better taprooms I've visited in some time. Can't wait to go back.

Very cold reception if you have young kids. We were all but uninvited when our 3 year-old daughter even ran around a little bit. Didn't cause any trouble, didn't mess with any merchandise. Just - ran around. Like 3 year-olds do. We will not be coming back. Breweries in 2018 need to understand that parents with little kids like to enjoy a good beer just like single adults do. Plenty of other breweries are kid friendly. This one simply is not.

Don't want to sit in traffic on 93? Sick of the typical watering holes in the Braintree area? Well, Widowmaker Brewery is the newest gem in the area for their venue, beers and overall location. It's technically only 1 week old, but they operations feel like they have been doing this forever. Location: Nestled on Wood Road, I really like this location due to the fact that it's right off the highway and very easy to get to. However, I do see an issue eventually happening when it comes to the parking area. They share the same parking lot with another organization and I can see there being some challenges once this brewery picks up. I happened to go in on a Thursday after work and the parking lot was packed, I can't imagine the weekends! The Brewery: When you first walk into the brewery, directly in front of you, you will see and immediately recognize the large silver kettles that are used to brew the beer they are serving. To your left, there is plenty of colorful stools and counter space to hang out with your friends. There is a dartboard and a couple of these games on the walls where you have to hook the circle to the hook on the wall. No idea what its called, but it's addicting! To your right, you will find Mecca...The bar where you can sample delicious beers after a long day in the office. The Beer: You are able to get their beers in a variety of ways. You are able to purchase full pours, half pours, flights, and take-home Crowlers. Personally, since I've never had their beers before ( week old brewery! ) I opted for the flight. I would highly recommend getting the flight so you were able to sample for beers for the price of $10. Since you are drinking, the brewery does supply you with some salty snacks in the back corner. The day that I went I was able to munch on goldfish and cheese it's. While I went on a Thursday there was no food truck or anything of substance to eat, they still offered the ability to purchase steamed hotdogs. The location of the hot dogs are next to the free bar snacks, so I could see people potentially missing the sign where you have to pay for that food. I could see them moving the paid for food back behind the counter shortly. The Staff: There was a good amount of staff on hand and it showed that they take their customers seriously! Every individual was kind, upbeat and genuinely happy to be serving and assisting. I even had an older gentleman that was at the door, teach me how to play the hook game. (sorry I have no idea what its really called, but I did post photos of it!) Overall, check it out, you won't be disappointed. I look forward to the brewery picking up, and hopefully having food trucks each day they are open! Go here with friends and family, as the atmosphere feels homey and welcoming to all.

Widowmaker is a great little brewery that is putting out great beers across the board, not solely focusing on IPAs. They also have a great little snack are with free Goldfish and pretzels and offer hot dogs pretty cheap as well. Which of course, go great with beer. Definitely worth a visit. Go check it out.

This is beer nirvana... Disney World for craft beer fanatics on the south shore. Large, open playful environment loaded with good music (except Earth) great aromas from the open brewery and a great looking staff who are attentive, informative and helpful. But we're here for the beer right? Located just off the highway and a stones throw from the South Shore Plaza, Widowmaker Brewing is in a great location to stop by for a beer or two while running you fail errands. The beer selection is not the traditional onslaught of juice bomb New England IPAs but they are offered. It's cut with captions of darker beers, stouts, porters, a shwarzbeir and even their take on a Budweiser. All are worth trying and trying again... fortunately tgey are all offered in a four pour flight so you can decide on your favorite and follow it up with a full pour served in a tulip pint glass, which they also sell on premise. Always busy, but seldom so crowded so it's uncomfortable Widowmaker is really hitting it out of the park. The food truck game here is also very strong. Highest recommendation

I stopped by Widowmaker this past Sunday afternoon. Easy to find, got a spot no problem. It was pretty lively for 2:30 on a Sunday but I snagged the last stool at the bar. Tap room was cool. Games like darts and tiki toss, plenty of room, can see openly into brewery, tons of seats and leaning space. Really friendly and nice bartenders. I got a flight (Sens Lives, Dry Wall, 50 Year Storm, Donut Shop) and then a full pour (100 Year Storm). Sens Lives was probably my favorite, but enjoyed them all. They had a corner with a bunch of swag for sale and they were giving out stickers. I'll be back.

Leave it to one review to drag down what should be a 5 star rating for this place! Widowmaker Brewing is firing on all cylinders, cans in stores, draft at all the best bars and a readily accessible tap room ready to quench your thirst and not bleed your wallet dry. I've been to the brewery on Wood Rd. a few different times now and each time has been great. Be it on football Sundays where no one gave me guff for wearing my Buffalo Bills jersey, to a busy Saturday when I just needed a beer and even one of their (newer?) dog friendly Sundays where my pup Pekko was met as kindly as I was. Cornhole and ring on a string keep you entertained with your friend, or do like I did and play a trivia card game as I sipped my flight. I should mention they do flights! 4 small beers let you try new ones you may never have thought to, a plus in my book. Staff is attentive and knowledgeable on everything to do with their beers, even when I overheard someone ask "What hops are in this?" they were met with a succinct answer that didn't make the person asking feel like it was a dumb question as other breweries I've been to have. I even got a handshake and a thank you for coming from the owner Ryan! Cans to go, crowlers to go and an ever changing lineup on food trucks make this a place you'd want to come back to! 5 stars every day of the week.

I enjoyed this place. The Greenbush Pale Ale is excellent and the X Tacy of Gold is good too. Nice people and cool vibe.

The best brewery around! Widowmaker's beers are fantastic and they have a really cool, large taproom. I finally checked out their outdoor beer garden in Quincy last night and the setup was awesome. Also, I ordered a beer and the keg kicked while they were pouring it (it was nearly full) and they gave me an additional free beer on the house to compensate. Totally not necessary but really appreciated. Support your local breweries and definitely make the trip!

Love this place. Widowmaker and Tree House are my go-to spots for New England IPAs. I love their prices... they have very fair prices... I don't understand why some breweries (which I won't mention by name) are charging more. There's a business motto that a customer won on price will be lost on price, in other words forget the customer and just charge what you think your product is worth, but come on man it's beer don't be overcharging people for the stuff if they love it they're gonna buy more. I've been known to do a bit of drinking so trust me on that one. Not saying I'll stop going if prices go up... I trust y'all and I'm a loyal customer! I can't remember the last time I wrote a damn Yelp review. I hate Yelp. But I do love this place.... outstanding product and service. Thank you very much. Cheers!

I love this place! It's very well organized, very clean, and spacious. There are great social games throughout the place that'll surely keep your giddiness elevated. The food truck parked just outside is perfect for grabbing a snack to complement your beverage... and speaking of beverage... every drink on the menu were spectacular. I can't wait to introduce some friends of mine to this fun and friendly brewery atmosphere! Oh, I also just want to say, thank you Buddy for teaching me how to properly swing that ring.

I went to Widowmaker Brewing for a quick lunch and it was fantastic. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, with less spice and it was perfectly cooked with a nicely seasoned batter. The sauce was spicy but not too much. The bun was nicely toasted and good size for the chicken. I didn't get a chance to have a beer but I will definitely have to come back for one! The server was particularly nice and offered to slice the sandwich in half for me.

Nice selection of microbrews yet a surly, young waiter. They really need to improve their outdoor experience now that it's late May, COVID restrictions have ended and the weather has greatly improved. They have placed picnic tables outside on plain, hard, unfriendly and cold asphalt. When I go out I enjoy pleasant surroundings. Right now it's mega-industrial. Management needs to put out some feel good stuff (I'm thinking fern bar in the 1980's.) such as fabric, a lot of big, green leafy plants, maybe with blossoms, and vastly improved lighting. Table decoration would be appealing and music with a good sound system wouldn't hurt either. In general, they simply need to make the outdoor experience more friendly and inviting.

Best thing to happen to Braintree in years. With the slew of chain restaurants and businesses that have robbed the town of its identity, it's nice to have a family-owned business with atmosphere, friendly employees and fantastic beer. Widowmaker has a vast array of brews that span across the entire spectrum of the beer variety. Some notables include their Blue Comet, which is one of their many fantastic choices. The taproom is well-sized and radiates plenty of positive energy. The clientele as well as the staff are beyond friendly. Check this place out!

Beer is bad. There are much better alternatives with nicer facilities in the Boston area. Honest review of the beer is that none quite hit the right taste. They are all a little light in flavor. Some places specialize in sours,some stouts, this place doesn't seem to have a standout. It would be fine if you are close by and don't want to travel far. Plus for free snacks.

I am from out of town and work at a brewery in Houston. I highly recommend the beer and the vibe here. I will be coming back again and again.
