While Wienerschnitzel is a recognizable name, the Platte Avenue location stands out for its fiercely local ownership and distinct personality. The owner, a longtime Colorado Springs resident, has garnered praise in The Gazette for community involvement and menu tweaks tailored to local tastes, including green chile-topped hot dogs and regional specialties. The spot is celebrated by locals for its friendly service and reliably delicious chili cheese dogs, making it a genuine part of the neighborhood fabric.

Had chili cheese fries, 2 chili dogs, 2 corn dogs, 1 small fries, 1 small coke. The. Corn dogs was freshly made. The Chili dogs was awesome. It reminded me of a place back home. Kudos to Rhonda W.

Came here to grab dinner. But it took long to get our order. Took close to 20 minutes. We were only customers inside the restaurant. And a couple at drive thru. It was only 2 orders of the chili cheese dogs and chili cheese fries. It’s a bit pricey. Food is always delicious is just the service and prices.

Food was hot , fresh. Fries were kinda of undercooked … Two corndogs fills you up. Cheeseburger and chilli dog , combo. Two people cost $20.

What well trained, caring, and conscientious employees here! Staff friendly, attentive, and all working at slow times on hospitality or cleaning. Well trained and great hires. Check out good online specials, too, just need coupon code. The chili was generous and yummy Here comes the staff thru dining area again offering service and saying have a great day. Bravo! Rest room was very clean and stocked. Plan to go, we will go back!

Google
I ordered the Chicago all beef dog which honestly just tasted like every other hot dog. The fries were very bland with no salt, but the southern strawberry lemonade was amazing! It was not too sugary or tart, it was perfect. I will be back to try the cucumber lemonade next time.

Google
Kaylie was great and very helpful! The food was amazing at a reasonable price range with the 6$ deal. Great experience for my first time at one of these restaurants

Google
Love their chili cheese dogs and mini corn dogs. Their chili is the best fast food chili that I've ever had. They have a lot of unique menu items for very cheap. Staff is always very friendly!

My first time at one of these and it was so good! Everyone was so kind and the Oreo shake was awesome. They do honor a military discount too.

Yelp
It had been forty or fifty years since I had been in a (Der) Wienerschnitzel which was in Denver. Chili dogs were the dog of choice, very cheap and ordered in multiples as they weren't all that filling. I was passing by and thought I'd give Wienerschnitzel a try. Obviously the prices had gone up. When I ordered I was asked which dog I wanted--there were five options. Nostalgia dictated I get the original. I ordered one Chili cheese dog and a Chicago dog. The chili cheese dog tasted exactly how I remembered it. Very tasty, very messy as it should be. The "Chicago dog" was an abomination and cost them a star. Anyone who has had a Vienna Sausage official Chicago dog would probably wonder what the hell is this? It is my understanding that Vienna owns the patent or Registration on the Chicago and supplies some of the ingredients like the green-not-found-in-nature relish and probably the peppers. The Chicago should probably be removed from menu, anyone who orders one expecting the original would probably not ever return unless they also had one of Wienerschnitzel originals. I'll go back, probably, to get the chili cheese dog. I also don't get why five different wieners are offered. Too much variety (choices) instead of just serving the best one is confusing. Wienerschnitzel seems to sell everything from some sort of fish and chips and other sundry items that appear to be franchised. I don't have a problem with this, just not what I expected in such a small shop. The staff was friendly and brought my food to the table when ready.

Yelp
I visit late night sometimes for a root beer float, which is delicious. I like their Tastee Freez ice cream. I appreciate that the service is always friendly, even when I'm rushing and only make it there 10 minutes or so till close.

Yelp
Nasty, flavorless hot dog. Having to post 85 characters for a f'n review is ridiculous. Nasty, not worth the money or drive

Yelp
Finally! Lol I didn't realize this place was already open but it caught my eye because there is a constant drive thru line that extends onto the main road. We waited in the drive thru line for a bit then decided to park and head inside. There is seating for about 18 people inside (mix of booths and tables). We didn't wait in line long before one of the co-owners took our order. Food came out quick and lived up to the Wienerschnitzel standard!! Haha. Locally owned is a plus. Welcome to the Spring

Yelp
Veggie dogs were fantastic and food was hot and fresh, made very quickly. The staff is very kind and helpful.

Yelp
Sometimes the corn dogs are not thoroughly cooked. So watch out. Service is okay. Wish they'd bring the Pepsi back though!

Yelp
My kraut dog was very good! Chose the polish sausage instead of the all beef hot dog and it was perfect. I also really enjoyed the chili cheese fries. Very tasty. My husband had the BBQ brisket fries which were not very impressive. It barely had any brisket pieces and didn't taste very good. Overall, I would return for the hot dog and chili cheese fries. Can't go wrong with a classic.

Yelp
Yum! Service was great and food was fun... very stadium worthy fare. Family loved it!

Yelp
We have been to this Wienerschnitzel for about 5 times. Today we ate here. What a surprise. The food was not very good at all. Hubby had polish, I tasted it was mushy and wet bread. But the worse part was we were over charged. I caught the error while we were eating. I went to ask for the difference, they called the manager. The manager acted like he didn't understand the 'problem'. He finally refunded some money but not enough. Not only was the food not very good but the manager was not really nice to me. We will not be going back.

Felicity C.

Yelp
I was sit waiting for my order and I seen a employee training and I see a lot of orders coming in and I seen this one young girl trying her best too make the food right and she made only one order wrong but she fixed it but then I hear the boss yelling at her saying if u don't like it u can go I felt so bad for herthat is so rude and disrespectful!!!!

Yelp
I ordered the fries, double cheeseburger, and a polish dog on a pretzel bun. The fries were trash. Very soggy, no color, they looked like they were barely cooked. The burger reminded me of a smaller Jack N The Box bacon cheeseburger, it was good, but not anything special. I would rather go the JnTB because it is a bigger burger. The dog was actually pretty good. It saved this review and inclined me to give it higher than than 2 and half star average. I built my own and went with a polish sausage in a pretzel bun with my favorite toppings and I was very pleased. I recommend the dogs, and I will be back for those, the other items, however, I would pass on.

Yelp
The ONLY reason I am giving this place two stars is because the service was really good! But I was super disappointed with the food. I ordered the "Junkyard Dog" it has chili, onion, cheese and french fries. The fries were soggy and floppy..I actually thought it was onion. They looked like they weren't even fried. The chili was bland. And overall it was just gross. I won't be back.

Yelp
There is a reason fast food workers are asked to repeat an order before sending in the order. I am currently wasting my time and gas to go back and get 2 items that weren't even put on the order despite us asking for them multiple times during the drive thru interaction. Very frustrating. I don't regret making them drop french fries 20 minutes before close. Anyway, here is a photo of the rock band Weezer.

Yelp
Food was good and employees were very nice, but the music is so loud. Couldn't hear myself conversate with a friend... Also, like... look at this shit dawg... I paid 2 bucks for this...

Yelp
Great food. Authentic flavor. Fair prices. The drive thru line was wrapped around the building and proceeded into the street with a 7 car line in the busy street! Worth the wait? Yes! Check this place out guys. You def want this. Worth a stop. Be prepared to wait in line. Worth it.

Manjinder S.

Yelp
Friendly employee and awesome service, shakes are the best, and great atmosphere. Their prices are better than other fast food places.

Reyna L.

Yelp
Clean restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff. Patient while ordering. Walked around checking on everyone. I had the all beef Kraut dog and chili cheese fries. Loved the dog. Couldn't eat all the fries! A lot of food. All very good.

Yelp
Waited in the drive thru for over 15 minutes with no response so we decided to try going inside. What a joke..... literally stood at the counter for a good 5 minutes, made eye contact with 3 of the employees, none of which bothered to acknowledge our presence. We left after wasting almost 30 minutes between the drive thru and inside trying to get service. I don't know who owns this joint, but if they don't get some employees with customer service skills this place is gonna tank!!!!!!

Yelp
HEARTBROKEN... Wienerschnit'z you never let me down until last night. You broke, demolished, ripped to shreds my heart last night when i tried your mini corn dogs and Chicago dog. Those little weenies were straight up RAW in the middle, don't get me wrong i like a little raw dog sometimes but not like that.... My beloved Chicago dog was soggy... not to mention the fact it tastes like if you licked the bottom of a dumpster and then squirted expired mustard in your mouth afterwards. thank you for coming to my yelp talk.

Yelp
I am so happy that we finally have a Wienerschnitzel in Colorado Springs! This had become a comfort food for me when we lived right next to one in California. I enjoyed my first time at this one. It is pretty typical Wienerschnitzel. I'm sure me and my family will be back somewhat regularly.

Kristin L.

Yelp
I ordered online a order and received someone else's so I called in to door dash they told me to call the store since it was their fault door dash stated. So I let it go.Tge next time I went my self to pick up the order got home and t t e chili cheese fries box was open and spilled all over my order. So this time I called weinerschnitzel and spoke with owner explaining both incidents and he was very kind and nice and offered to replace my whole order.Fast forward a week and a half I go thru drive thru to get my comped or and a lady named Sam came to the window and would not replace me order and was very rude.My children went without food todayvdue to her rudeness to be honest it hurt my heart. If the owner sees this please call me at 719 588 6783 and my name is Kris.thx so much for your time.

Yelp
The food was good, the person taking our order asked several times what? And then they get it and start laughing. They are super slow and the menu has no lights, so if you go at night good luck seeing the menu.

Anne V.

Yelp
Best prices around, the jalapeño poppers are 10/10. I really love having one around here!!! Lets me satisfy my junk food cravings without breaking the bank.

Samantha C.

Yelp
Everytime I go here i get food poisoning! And I try something different too I mean even the last time I just got a fruit loops milkshake and still got sick. Never going here again obviously someone's not cleaning properly or something.

Mike L.

Yelp
I so wanted to like this first and only Wienerscnnitzel in town, as I grew up on the great tasting chili dogs and fries as a kid. However, while the taste of the food delivered, the chili cheeseburger barely had any chili and what used to be included as a free condiment (onions on chili dogs) now cost extra. Also the staff were extremely slow and the cashier had less than a familiarity, worthy of a quality employee, of the menu. I hope management can fix this issue with more training or screening. One other annoying thing was the entire staff, sans the cooks, just standing around and waiting when there were customers in the restaurant waiting to have their orders taken. Definitely not quality customer service skills here.

Yelp
They will not honor any coupon that is on your phone EVEN though the coupons says it does !!!! BEWARE no at all friendly!!

Yelp
I worked at the wiener schnitzel on Platte and Nevada in 1980 and fell in love with their chilli dogs and pretzel mustard dog. I was excited when I heard one was opening in the springs again after many years . I ate there yesterday, had 2 chilli dogs and a mustard dog....cost me $12.00 to learn another old favorite went to sh....the buns looked like someone had them in their back pocket .unwrapping them looked like a mess of chilli and what was once a bun. I guess raising minimum wage doesn't make people take pride in their work. Blame it on management ...

Yelp
After waiting in line for over an hour because we really wanted Wienerschnitzel, our food was incorrect and poor quality. My chili dog was so bad it was inedible. Fries were burnt and inedible. My husband only ate a few bites of his meal and he will always eat anything. We both felt sick after the small amount of food we did eat. It's just too bad. Hopefully things change because we love Wienerschnitzel and we're so excited we now have one in town.

Amy G.

Yelp
We love this place. But they never honor the national promotions. Today was supposed to be 4 chili dogs for $4 and they wouldn't honor it. Ended up paying $12 instead. Boo

Yelp
Second time eating at Wienerschnitzel last evening. Missed it as we used to eat at Wienerschnitzel in Phoenix a few years back. Happy to see it here in the Springs. It is a nice place for a quick hot dog and fries, for sure. Tried the Texas BBQ this time. Was a nice change from the standard mustard/ketchup dog! Will try the Aussie Dog next time - the horseradish aioli sounds intriguing! And I love horseradish. The lady taking orders said all their dogs are grilled - as I asked! Not sure about the Chicago dog. Aren't they usually steamed! Might try one next time! If you want an "all beef" dog or "Polish" dog, you need to ask for it on some of the hotdog choices. Otherwise, the lady taking our order the first visit said the "Original" dogs were made with turkey and chicken. The all beef hot dog costs $1.49 extra. Fortunately for me, the Texas BBQ came with the all beef dog! Service was pretty quick for us but watched a few other people wait quite some time for their complete order to come up. They were handed sacks of food but had to wait for their complete order. Didn't the first sacks get cold waiting? In the meantime, the family stood around taking up the space other visitors needed to get to the counter and the first booth closest to the counter - they weren't sitting, just leaning on and around the booth. The actual inside of the restaurant is not that big - very compact. Food was good. Walked in just in time - about 7:00 p.m. People stacked up right after but one family had 5 people in their party, ordered their food and took it with them - the family mentioned above. So it looked more crowded than it was. Only 4 people actually were sitting at the tables eating. We chose to eat inside as the drive-thru line gets crazy. BTW, don't park on the side of the building because if the drive-thru line backs up, you are stuck to back out! There are two drive-thru lines - one enters from the back and one enters via the side of the building. As for the drive-thru - there was a cool Volkswagen bus sitting in line for the drive-thru when we drove up and went inside. We ordered, sat and ate our food and as we were leaving, the Volkswagen bus was just then actually sitting at the drive-thru window waiting for food! I only had two issues really. The floor in the eating area was not very clean - food pieces laying around - and the few tables - maybe five and two booths - were in need of being wiped off between customers! Didn't use the restrooms, so no judgment there. Seems during busy times, an employee could be utilized merely to keep the tables, floor and drink/condiment station tidy and wiped clean. My biggest gripe and won't make the mistake again - I asked for water to drink. I was asked what size cup. I said just a small. I assumed I would receive a small plastic or Styrofoam cup. I was given a small drink cup and I saw it ring up on the register as a Pepsi for $1.89. Really - for a water cup! So be sure you watch the register when you ask for water to drink with your meal! The prices are reasonable, I guess. We had a double chili hotdog combo and a Texas BBQ hotdog and our bill came to a little less than $15. But that included my $1.89 water cup! Comparable to other fast food restaurants! Otherwise, we will visit again as I like a good hotdog once in a while! And because Frank's Chicago Dogs has closed we needed a fast dog place!

Brian B.

Yelp
Good service clean and fast nothing really to say my kids loved the hot dogs and corn dogs

Victor S.

Yelp
No fries with my combo meal and put the hotdog in upside down l got a chili on top of the box. Not first time this kind of thing has happened. Don't think I will be going back.

brooke b.

Yelp
Listen up. I had a long weekend working 13 hour shifts and thought "damn I want a corndog so bad". So I went to get one and saw ice cream. But then Martain recommended the watermelon lemonade freeze thingie and give that man a raise because shit was bomb. Thank you Martian. Some hero's wear weiner hats. 10/10

Yelp
I absolutely love Wienerschnitzel and I'm so happy they finally came to town and it's all I ever expected! Yum!! I recommend trying a chili cheese dog with cheddar cheese instead of the cheese it comes with :)

Mitchell M.

Yelp
Very terrible ownership. They let their GM Joespeh Henke throw food at my wife, who was a manager and did nothing about it. Samantha Curlee was also a very rude individual. She denied me to speak to anyone but her and for some reason harasses her employees under her. The two of them are playing favorites with each other and engaging in unprofessional behavior. They smoke weed on the premises, handle food with no gloves and Aug 11th there was a lice outbreak and they urged the owners to not say anything about it.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
I witnessed the altercation between Joseph Henke, Samantha Curlee, and another manager. They were very unprofessional and threw food at her. He has absolutely no adequate training to be a general manager, especially with his anger. Not to mention the store is dirty. Employees including the owner handle food with gloves and use expired ice cream mix. I'd watch what you eat here. There was also a lice breakout and the owner refused to take the proper precautions to fix the situation. Instead no one went to the doctor to get their heads checked and their still sharing and using the same headsets everyday. Not ready to open and definitely not the right people to open this business.

Yelp
I'm usually not one to complain about services. But after being a regular customer I've seen staffing changed overtime. Although Wienerschnitzel is one of my favorite places to eat it, the management is very rude and disrespectful and I will not be going back any longer. My order wasn't long at all and I was consistently being cut off by Samantha Curlee after each item ive said. And was told that I was running up drive thru time. After receiving the WRONG order I went back for a refund and asked to speak to a manager. Samantha insisted to fix my order. But after seeing she was wearing no gloves and touching this and that I insisted on a refund. Joseph Kenke came to assist and was no better. I asked for a refund and it took almost 30-45 minutes to get one for an order that was under 10 items. Not to mention he threw my receipt and my change literally at me. I don't appreciate after being a long time customer to receive this kind of disrespect especially because I am a very respectful and polite person. And I know exactly how it is working in that environment..

Reina B.

Yelp
JOSEPH HENKE is unprofessional i witnessed him throw food at one of his employees ... he also was very unprofessional when I tried to help the employee he told me to leave her the fuck alone and that he would harm me while I had my autistic son with me

Bonnie S.

Yelp
Ordered a hot dog and hamburger. There was so much relish on the hot dog that the bun was wet and soggy. The burger was dry and tasteless. The fries were warm and strangely, small sized, each about 1 inch long. I never saw such short fries before. All this for about $10! I won't be back. The Pepsi was the only thing that tasted good.

Connie S.

Yelp
My husband and I ate there for dinner and the service at the drive through window was horrible. The service was slow and from what I could see everyone was just standing around. We were at the window at least 10 minutes before we got our food. Then as I was driving g off my husband check the bag and the left out the fries. We won't be going back anytime soon. And I suggest if you do go plan on being in drive through line for more than 30 minutes.

Brett M.

Yelp
I grew up in California and we had one of these restaurants nearby. Is this the best meal you'll have? Probably not. Is it affordable? I would say yes. Does it bring back memories with the same taste? Absolutely!! If you want something quick and don't want hamburgers or tacos, I'd recommend it.

Denise W.

Yelp
Even though the food is good and I am excited it is in Colorado Springs their drive through has a lot to be fixed! They are super slow, they help the second line that comes in after you first. Really bad customer experience. They need to fix their drive through!

Harold F.

Yelp
Good food good service I love the veggie dogs in the fish and chips.

Penny W.

Yelp
Like heaven on earth. Used to always eat there growing up in San Diego. Moved to the east coast and now I'm deprived. Every time I travel I look for one. Can't go wrong

Carrie S.

Yelp
The management was rude and disrespectful specifically Joseph and Samantha they were nothing but rude and that's how you treat your guests? I will not be returning until they fix the management and we were waiting so long for our food just for it to be wrong I asked if I could have the chilli on the side and they told me they couldn't do that? Why couldn't they just put it on the side for me anyway just take your money elsewhere because it's not worth it at all I would give no stars but I have to just to post this

Brianna N.

Yelp
This place always hits the spot! Despite the long line, staff worked efficiently to move everyone through timely. Additionally, none of my order was wrong even though they had so many people in line and were rushing. Food was fresh and hot and the staff was very kind! I recommend if ya have the time for a little wait. It's worth it. :) Oh, I also heard the manager encouraging the staff very positively at the window when I received my good. That's also great. I'm sure it helps staff stay calm during peak rush hours!!
