Wow. We tried Wilbur for the first time when we decided last minute to change our Valentine's plans to a cozy movie night in. We ordered the Classic Burrito and Chicken Quesadilla. I think food deserves a separate review as a dine in and takeout, so this review will be takeout focused. First and foremost, if you're on Uber wondering how Wilbur compares to take out fare like Chipotle or Mucho Burrito, there is no comparison! Wilbur is a clear cut above. This is reflected in the price point too. But for your additional $4-5 per main, here's what you can expect:
1) Each main came with a side of what tasted like house made corn chips. What really stood out was how you could taste the sweetness of the corn. The chips, like the rest of the meal, had much less salt than fast food mexican, and were far less greasy.
2) No extra charge for guacamole. Guacamole came both in the Burrito and as a side with the Quesadilla.
3) less salt, more whole ingredients freshly made. Tortillas felt freshly made, and the burritos were firm. Not soggy. The seasoning is much more nuanced and varied than Chipotle. Do not expect the quesedillas to be as cheesy or heavy. And in general, you will not feel as stuffed as you do after mexican fast food.
All in all, I don't know if Wilbur is more authentically mexican than other Burrito-centric places, but it certainly is a nice change and elevated from the usual chains.
Note: we scarfed down our food too quickly to take a photo!
