Wild Hare Bar Garden

I visited this place 3 times during my stay at the Hilton Gaslamp for the BMES 2025 conference and I can say I would recommend this as a frequent visit during events like that. It was never really busy so I was always able to be seated and while some people may dislike just being sat with limited communication with your server that isn't just "Order, food, bill", I found it nice to be straight to the point. In terms of food quality, there are a few hits and a few things that were a little disappointing but everything was definitely of at least "good" quality, with some parts like their beef pattys and desserts being excellent. I never disliked anything I had. Now being from Arkansas/Louisiana primarily, I will say that the prices of some menu items are a little overpriced compared to the item you get (I think the Wild Hare Burger should be closer to $15-17, and the Chimichurri steak should be closer to $25-28, for example), but some like the Chocolate Delight dessert ($15, EXCELLENT quality) or Egg breakfast ($20, fair for amount of food recieved) are exactly what I would expect for that price. I know some of it is really part and parcel for California, but I still will voice that complaint. Overall, this place serves good-to-great quality food in a fast manner, and while some items are a little pricier than I think they should be being from a different state, I would still firmly recommend this at least once during a stay, ESPECIALLY for their desserts.

I had the opportunity to experience this establishment during a media opening night! I sampled a few of their appetizers, cheese and meat selections, steak and beverages from the menu. The staff was amiable, and the atmosphere was lively. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, including regular seating and bar seating options. It appeals to people of all ages. I believe this place is destined to become a popular destination in Gaslamp.

I walked passed this restaurant in two different days in a distance of two weeks. My question is, would you enter in a restaurant where the menu outside looks like this:

Food was delicious! The service was great as the staff are very friendly who work here. It’s pretty obvious that this business is struggling and to combat that, they are stealing from their customers with hidden fees. As shown in my picture, there is a 15% service charge and a 4% sur-charge. That’s a 19% charge added for what? If you tip the standard 20%, you end up paying 39%. Pretty insane. I ordered my food to go and enjoyed it in my room so I’m not sure what they need to add charges for. Businesses giving hidden charges deserve to be shamed. It’s not often my reviews dip below 4 stars but I couldn’t be more disappointed. The prices are already high and enough of us are struggling. I hope the business replies to this review and changes their business practices. I can’t recommend this place to anyone unless you want to pay the hidden charges. There’s plenty of other food options all within walking distance.

Food, drinks, and service were amazing! Lindsey, Carl, and Cat provided my family and I with VIP style service and great recommendations. Would return ever trip back to San Diego.

This is about 3.5 stars Since to me all restaurants should pull an average of 3.. this gives it a touch above Service was basic. Nothing other than take an order. Bring the food. Here's the bill. Food was 4-star for sure. Flavors were new and fresh.

Good breakfast and great service. We had the Cali Omelette and Carde Asada Bowl. Good stuff.

Amazing bartenders!!!! Lindsey and Kerem were the greatest and made my experience the best. They had the greatest conversations and suggestions for everyone. I will definitely only stay here abs drink at this bat only!!!!! The best, come here for sure!!!!

Karem at the bar was absolutely amazing. He was very in tune with my drink choices, and recommendations.

Kerem made us some amazing cocktails. His mojito is by far the best I've tried, and the French Lop set a new high standard. A++

Wild Hare Bar Garden restaurant is located in a stylish Hilton hotel, on the main entry level, in downtown San Diego. Reservations were made, which made everything go smoothly. The menu has a few vegan options, which can be found with a little orange carrot next to it. The service was amazing--If you're reading this Lindsey, thank you! I ordered the Miso Truffle Ricotto with truffled mushrooms, arugula, and roasted tomatoes. It was quite lovely. I enjoyed my meal and would order it again. Restrooms were clean and tidy; friendly vibes all around! Tip: Valet and Street Parking

As a local heard about a Yappy Hour event. Bring your pup, have drinks, etc Had a couple freebies when you walked in then not much interaction. Only 2 other people / dogs showed up. They said they always come. There were 2 raffle prizes and they went to the people who always come.......three of us total. The drinks were good. The Brussels sprouts should have been. Good flavor but still really raw. Overall won't attend another yappy hour but might pop in for a drink.

I actually came here for a Yelp event, but ordered off the menu on the side. The Hare-Raiser drink had a little kick to it. It was strong &def have no complaints. The "Fried Brussel Spourts" was not fried. It was soggy. But the flavor was okay. If it was a bit crispy it would be something I'd want to order regularly. IF I go back. With the pork belly banh mi, I might be a little biased on it. But why would garlic cojita fries be offered to be paired with it?? It was plain.. both the banh mi& the fries unfortunately. There just wasn't enough sauce& it just tasted dry. I don't know if I'd be able to come back. Maybe if they cooked on a day that didn't have an event, I might wanna try it again..

We came here for an event and it was absolutely stunning the drinks were so good, the food and decore was absolutely gorgeous. We got a chance to meet the talented head chef and he explained all of inspiration that drives the restaurant! The drinks and vibes made by Karem really set this place apart. I will be back for a proper dinner!

Great experience here! Lindsey was awesome and promptly greeted me with a smile and took care of my drinks promptly. Cat and Jenna were great as well. Even though Lindsey was taking care of me, they still stopped by and said hello while I was waiting at the bar and chatted with me for a moment. There were many people in the bar area and they all moved quickly and everyone seemed happy with service. Thanks again Lindsey!

Located in the gas lamp area of san diego, this fun bar can be found inside the Hilton. Super excited to come back during the summertime when they have their new menu up and try all their new delicious menu items. The bartenders were amazing. Just every one that we met that work there was awesome. Looking forward to dining with them soon.

Wild Hare Bar Garden is the updated in-house restaurant and bar at the Hilton Gaslamp Quarter Hotel which underwent a multimillion dollar refresh. The rabbit theme is in homage to the earliest inhabitants of San Diego. As a matter of fact, the Gaslamp Quarter was known as "Rabbitville" back in the day. A large 225-pound rabbit sculpture with a sleek metal finish can be found near the reception desk. There were two separate dining areas on the ground floor. One was adjacent to the bar while the other was a covered outdoor patio. A film crew was taking some footage when I arrived. The bartender initially informed me that I would have to take my order to-go. Luckily, they were starting to pack up so I was able to grab a seat at the bar. A small two-sided menu sheet featured ten small plates on one side and five large plates, one salad, and one dessert on the other side. I chose the Grilled Octopus to start my meal. Two grilled tentacles were served with pickled onions, rocket greens, lemon vinaigrette, and crispy potatoes. The tenderness of the octopus was good, but what was better was the crispy char. I could smell the smokiness emanating from the dish when it was brought out. The other item I ordered was the Pappardelle. I was not as impressed with this pasta which had heirloom tomatoes, roasted mushrooms, wilted garlic kale, and manchego cheese sprinkled on top. For the $27 price tag, some type of protein should have been included. The bottom of the dish was quite oily underneath the noodles. The ambiance was neat although all of the art featuring the creatures were more jackrabbits than cute cottontails. I hope the kitchen will expand the California cuisine offerings as they seemed limited for a grand opening. With locally sourced meat and produce combined with organic ingredients from the chef's terrace herb garden, the potential is there but so is the competition with numerous restaurants just steps away from the hotel.

We are at the Wild Hare bar at the Hilton in the Gaslamp having the best time with Karem our bartender. He has been remarkably helpful in recommending excellent restaurants and has been incredibly friendly. We will definitely be back looking for him the next time we are in San Diego.

We were in town for 2 days, for the game. Lindsey and Kerem helped us they had a full house, very nice and polite :) Lindsey makes a great tasty Paloma and remembered our drinks both days. When were back in town we will come see you again and try the hamburgers. Everyone was telling us that they are so delicious!

Lindsay and Kerem were extraordinary bartenders, taking excellent care of me even though I overstayed my welcome. They were responsive and kind, and steered me towards a new IPA I've never tried before and loved. The Wild Hare and its taff are fantastic

Had a credit to this restaurant located in the lobby of the Hilton Hotel. Your standard American food. When we went on a Saturday, we had one table and our server is the waitress and the bartender at the bar. Food is good for being hotel, a service was kind just not attentive. We had to wait a long time for our food because of a shift change so they gave us a free drink and dessert.

Hilton has stepped up their game by incorporating Wild Hare Bar Garden as part of their 22.5 million dollar renovation. This whimsical hare inspired gourmet delight is historical reflection on San Diego's vibrant past, known as "Rabbitville". Wild Hare boasts indoor and outdoor areas to lounge and enjoy the sunny San Diego weather all while enjoying delectable creations by executive chef, Frank Barajas. The bar service was impressive serving delicious hare inspired cocktails to enhance the experience. , such as "Hare-raiser" and "What's up doc?". My favorite featured plate is the popping Ahi tostadas! The crunch of the tostada paired with the "pop rocks" inspired garnish is a great twist to an already fantastic dish. Wild Hare Bar Garden is a mist visit when you are in the historic gaslamp area!

Firstly, it's in a wonderful hotel and the location is spectacular. Sadly, the service for the Wild Hare is pretty bad. This is my second visit, and so far 2 for 2 bad service. We have our dog with us so we had to sit outside, I had to go in for water and being ignored 10 minutes and very slow inside. Also had to go in for set ups, and coffee request after 20 minutes. And still waiting for food!!!!!!!!! Not a go to when so many fabulous places are everywhere around us.

wow- amazing service, great popping tacos" with pop rocks candy. Also be sure to get the 24k cocktail- so good if you're a bourbon lover. citrus and not too sweet. I could also eat dozens of the popping tacos. lindsey and Melissa are great and know their people and cocktails. able to help make sure the cocktails are how you would like.

Horrible food and worst service. 5 people working with 2 tables. Took 45 mins for a drink. Food not good. Chicken smelled like fish. Nice place.

I've eaten here a few times and it has been consistently good food. The grilled Cuban sandwich is really good and so is the warm goat cheese small plate. The servers have also been friendly and attentive.

Their recommendations were spot-on, and they made sure our glasses were never empty. I highly recommend stopping by for a drink if you're in the area!
