The Best Breakfast Dishes in Melbourne and Where to Eat Them | Eater

"A bakery that has adopted the growing congee trend, integrating the comforting rice porridge into a primarily non-Asian menu and broadening access to the dish across Melbourne cafes." - Audrey Bourget

This bakery was recommended to me by a friend, and it didn’t disappoint. Since I had eaten early, I tried the fermented chilli, garlic, and cheddar twist. It was good, though I think the pastry would be even better if it were warm. I love the aesthetic of the cafe. The glass panel allowed customers to see the kitchen in action, which was a nice touch. I’ll definitely be returning for more!

A hidden gem tucked away in a quiet residential pocket.. this sandwich bakery serves up some of the best toasties in Melbourne! While there was a bit of a queue, the service was quick. The sandwiches were freshly made, packed with flavour, and absolutely delicious. You can taste the quality of the ingredients. And to top it off, the coffee was excellent... smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed. Well worth seeking out if you are in the area!

It's fine. Coffee's pretty good, bread's pretty good, croissants are fine, service is fine. I find the decor and atmosphere to be a bit depressing, same warehouse/stone/ambient/laptop/phone/dog/kid/tote/etc. I dunno, people go on and on about Wild Life, maybe I'm missing something, but it's exactly the same as a bajillion other inner city bakery cafe thingos. Not necessarily a bad thing, just fairly unremarkable. Prices are a bit rude, but prices everywhere are a bit rude, and you probably won't do any better in the neighbourhood. It's fine, it's reliable, it's whatever. If I'm with someone for lunch, sure, but it's not special enough to warrant my going there alone.

came around 11 am on sunday, and everything was almost sold out. Plain Croissant Beautiful layers, but they don't reheat it so a bit hard to eat and can't enjoy the butter fragrance fully I bring my own tumblr but after payment I am confused because they say later. Turns out, they will call your name and then pour the drink directly into tumblr. Pastie Reheated yayy. Inside is mashed potato mixed with herbs. Similar to curry puff in Asians. But I'm not a fan of the sauce. They have indoor heater since the dining area is open, but i think it was too strong. I feel like my face is burned after sitting for a while.

Staff are vague and rude. Arrived because the menu looked good online. Arrived at peak lunchtime. Had to wait for them to stop chatting to a departing staff member about her Saturday night plans. Then had to wait for them to clean the plates off the only available table. Then the waitress disappeared to clean the coffee machine so had to find the menus ourselves. Had to ask where the menus were and staff waved vaguely in the direction. Menu was different to online and nothing really appealed so we left. Didn't see the need to pay for 3 people to stand around cleaning things and not serving actual customers.

Big open space, great coffee with some pastry options as well! Beans and coffee accessories for sale as well. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

The lovely lady at ready frames reccomened this place for coffee and baked goods. It had such a great vibe lots of locals coming and going . The service was solid just a lot going on.The portuguese tart was the best I have had in a long OMG.::The coffee was good.. my long Mac was little long .. but I am very fussy.. and my partners cafe late was weak for his liking… but overall such a hidden gem in East Brunswick…we will be back when back in this hood

Yum! We popped in today for lunch and were super impressed with both our food, the service and space here at Wild Life. I had the egg and chive sandwich which was so so good and Stacey got the mushroom toastie which she has proclaimed as the best she’s had in Melbourne. I scored a few bites and can agree it was delicious 🤤 The coffee was delightful, service was warm and friendly and there were lots of in house sauces and picked goods to buy take away. We loved it sitting at the big communal table inside and will easily be back to try more of the tasty menu here ♥️

Yelp
This came as a suggestion I think off of the socials perhaps Instagram or YouTube. After we visited one of the art markets nearby we took an Uber over to the bakery. The outside patio was full and included some very cute dogs. Inside was also very busy and there was a queue lining up at the counter. A lot of pressure to make a decision in a short amount of time since we weren't familiar with the menu, etc., so I had to grab the menu and try to figure out what we were going to order, especially since it was late in the day, and there were not many baked goods left in the case. We opted for a flat white and a Matcha latte. We took a seat at the interior wooden table area, which was rather dirty and strewn with used drinkware. When the drink was ready, they called my name, I did return to the line to order a croissant. It was fluffy and tasted good. Service was pretty friendly overall. Seems like street parking is your only option. Very dog friendly. Probably would want to arrive earlier to get the best selection of breakfast and baked items.

Yelp
This is my standby for meeting friends old and new close by my house. It's a large lofty type space with high ceilings that somehow managed not to feel cavernous. Lots of natural light from the north-facing front glass wall. Staff are a diverse mix if people always ready with a smile and time to chat about the menu or give their opinions on the slip of the day. Food-wise, lots of vegan and veggie options, but also have a great lamb shank shakshuka. The sourdough bread, baked on premises daily, is the best we've found in town (even downtown in the CBD) - we drop by sometimes just for a load to take home, and I've basically stopped buying supermarket bread unless we're in a real pinch and know Wild life is already closed. The place is also super pram-friendly for those with tiny family members. But, again, big enough that everyone has enough space to enjoy their meal or coffee.
