We had dinner at Wild Thyme last night as part of the Dine Out Fort Lauderdale promotion. The restaurant was fairly quiet for a Sunday evening, which we actually appreciated — my husband and I enjoy a more peaceful dining atmosphere. The space was clean, and the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful with menu recommendations.
For appetizers, we tried the shrimp tempura and the honey garlic wings. The shrimp were nicely fried and properly cleaned (which is always appreciated), but the batter was lacking in flavor. Without the dipping sauce, the dish would’ve fallen completely flat. The wings were cooked well — no soggy skin — but the flavor didn’t quite hit the mark. The garlic came through, but the "honey" part was nearly nonexistent. Overall, maybe a 5/10 for both appetizers.
For our entrees, my husband ordered the Cajun pasta, which was disappointing. It was creamy but bland — more like a standard Alfredo than anything Cajun. It came with a few shrimp, but no sausage, no chicken, and definitely no spice. Not what we expected.
I had the steak frites, which was the highlight of the night. The fries were piping hot, and the steak was cooked well. The chimichurri sauce added a nice punch of flavor. I'd give this dish an 8/10.
All in all, it was an okay experience. The service and atmosphere were pleasant, but the food was hit or miss. We likely wouldn’t return outside of the prix fixe promotion.
