Wild Turkey Lounge...

This is a "have it all" type of place. Great steak, humble selection of cigars (but good options), and the best whiskey selection of any restaurant I've been to in the southeast (maybe anywhere). They do have many other liquor, beer, and wine options. I enjoyed 2 cigars (outdoor patio only - no indoor smoking lounge) and walk-in dinner at the Wild Turkey Lounge segment of the restaurant. Will definitely be back again!

The holiday decor and overall ambiance was great. Food was good quality and order precise.

Awesome bar, unique decor, must visit. Very historic spot. They will give you house made cheese balls as a free appetizer and they are really 👍. Affordable price for drinks, great service.

It's been years since we ate at the Angus Barn. We wanted to see the holiday decorations (the decorations are up through January) but didn't have a reservation. Went Monday night after the New Year and got there just before opening at 5, only had to wait around 15 minutes for a table for three in the Wild Turkey Lounge. They serve the entire menu and a few additional more casual items in the lounge. We all decided on the Signature Steak Sandwich and some wine. The sandwich is huge (can easily be shared) and delicious. Finished the meal with the Chocolate Explosion (not on the menu; they add a slice of chess pie to an ice cream sundae) and the Apple Cobbler. I was disappointed in the Cobbler but everything else, including the service, was excellent. Will have to come back again and sit at the bar.

If you are trying to go around the holidays, I suggest you make your reservation a year in advance or get there early, really early. However, the amount of effort they put into the decorations is just simply amazing 😍 personality I think the food is great, but the service and attention to detail is really why you go. Top notch establishment and on the rare opportunities I get to go, I jump on it.

The Angus Barn has a long history of exceptional food and service. My first visit was in 1973. During the holiday season, a reservation is a must. You can enjoy drinks from the bar with furnished cheese spread and crackers while waiting to be seated. Decorated inside and out for photo opts. Crowded but worth it.

This place is super cool. It’s a super fancy place. They let a couple of degenerates like us come in and have some cocktails. We had their famous old-fashioned and didn’t regret it. All the wild turkey stuff was awesome plus some of the historic stuff they have in there is crazy.

My absolute favorite Christmas tradition is coming to the angus barn, looking at the decorations and eating the food. This year like in years past they did NOT disappoint. Severin was the bartender and he was funny, witty, and present but not overbearing. Tomahawk steak was just as good as I remember it. This is the best time of the year to go.

The Angus Barn was all decked out this year. If you don't have reservations, get there early, as the line to get on the waitlist is long. I arrived before my reservations, as I like to look at all the decorations. I stumbled upon the elevator and the train. Looking back at my photos, it is fun to see how different they make it each year. I was seated at a great table and could enjoy the decorations while eating. There was no shortage of staff to make sure that I had everything I needed, whether it be bread or more crackers. Even at the end of my meal, I overheard another staff member asking my waiter if I needed more tea. I had already told him I had enough left. Bobby D. was my waiter and had a wonderful personality, and never missed a beat. I ordered the filet mignon again with creamed corn and a baked potato. The creamed corn is much different than what you get in a can. I don't know when the last time I even had that was, but when I saw the new addition to the menu, I thought I'd try something new. It is creamy but not heavy, with some subtle cheese flavors. When my filet came out, I was instructed to cut into it to make sure it was cooked properly. I couldn't finish as I ate too many of the homemade crackers, cheese, and the relish dish. But now I have leftovers. I did eat the sawdust pie later that evening. I hadn't remembered the sliced banana before. If all goes as planned, I will make it back next month. Maybe I will order another main dish, but probably not. I will pick different sides, though.

Holiday vibes are incredible. Food was meh I got the filet mignon and lobster combo. The steak was decent but nothing special and lobster was rubbery and didn't seem like 9 ounces but maybe they count the shell? Which is silly. Since this was our first time, we didn't realize we could enjoy the festive vibes without actually eating there. Not worth coming back for the food, but will come back for the photo ops

I was anticipating this evening for the past year and was so excited to see the decorations, and enjoy the wonderful meal and time with my friends. It took a long time just to get a reservation and I took the first thing that I could get which was a 4 o'clock reservation on a Sunday. The place was mobbed, and I understand why because the decorations are fabulous. First off, decorations 10/10 - so much to see and I want to go back as I didn't see it all. The outside is decked out too. Our waiter was top notch - he was a pro and one of the better waiters I've encountered. He was outstanding. I split a meal with my friend and ordered a ribeye, with a wedge salad, sweet potato and a side of creamed spinach. The wedge salad was delish. I loved every bite. The steak on the other hand was not good. It was no better than a grocery store steak. For a $100 dinner I expected a steak you'd find at other top notch steak houses. The steak was chewy and fatty in many spots. I didn't finish it. I didn't get the steak intense flavor I wanted either. The creamed spinach was good but I wanted a thicker and creamier version of this dish. I got the experience and service but I can't give the stars for food. I had a few olives in the olive bowl they brought out but I don't care for pits in my olives and having to spit out the pit. I wanted to rave about the food but didn't get that experience today.

The most magical birthday dinner experienced at The Angus Barn. Delicous food, tasty cocktails,stunning decor and top tier service. Expect crowds during the holiday with groups of family,friends,business meetings and private event room. Initial experienced of dining during the holidays at The Angus Barn. Reservations is filled and booked quickly so plan ahead!! We were lucky enough for a spot due to cancellations.

What a wonderful Wedding Anniversary celebration I had at this place. Holiday decorations consumed the roof tops and every inch of the place which made it feel like a cozy Christmas barn wonderland. The service was top notch as our server recommended an excellent wine selection to pair with our tomahawk steak. I also must mention that they sliced our steak table side. Steak was cooked perfectly. We even were treated to a beautiful cake to celebrate the evening.

Great spot for food, bevs, and relics. Seriously, the decor has the intrigue of an Americana museum. Charlie was a fabulous server. Our table loved the complimentary crackers and cheese spreads along with the fresh pickle and veggie bucket. I enjoyed my ny strip steak with sweet potato, Caesar salad, and house red wine; my son also got a steak and potato, but opted for broccoli cheese soup which he practically licked the bowl. Same can be said for the chocolate sundae dessert (where does he put it, I have no idea)!!! Plenty of private parking. Did I mention the HDTV in the bathroom?

Food was ok. Not living up to the hype, but it's a tradition in the raleigh area. Service was top notch. Ambience great for festive events. Just not a great value to us any longer.

Having experienced Bern's Steak House in my former city of residence, Tampa, I was so curious to check out Angus Barn. Since we moved to downtown Raleigh in February of this year we have been told many times to get to Angus Barn (or Big Red as it is affectionately called by many in this beloved restaurant's family). It took us a while, and now we wish we had given ourselves the treat of dining at Angus Barn sooner. From the moment we navigated off of Glenwood and into the parking lot we felt we had arrived somewhere special. The canopy covering the area is lush & green at this time of year as we commented on how gorgeous it must be come fall. Approaching the building we took note of the welcoming vibe of the outside saloon with its charming decor and unique seating opportunities. Once inside it felt homey, comfortable, and kind with quite the welcoming host staff. We mentioned we arrived early to enjoy the Wild Turkey Lounge and we were told exactly how to navigate that way with ease. When we asked if we could walk around and explore the dining areas as this was our first visit to their restaurant the team seemed genuinely happy that we wanted to check out their home away from home. Amazing space! So large yet made to feel welcoming due to the decor and prideful staff at every turn. X was bartending in the Wild Turkey Lounge and what a joy he was as our first dining experience service member at Angus Barn. When we mentioned our possible food choices, X was in total agreement that we were right on track for a fantastic meal. Cup of onion soup, a wedge salad that is the BEST we have ever tasted, and their shaved steak sandwich with an unctuous stuffed potato as our side dish selection. This after already marveling at the complimentary cheese & relish tray! We met new friends at the bar, which is something we look forward to doing many times in the near future. This place is an institution in Raleigh, and it is easy to understand why. The wine list is thoughtfully procured, the pricing across the lists of beverages AND food is fair and approachable for every day dining, and they have been around for 65 years due to the vision of founders Thad Eure, Jr. and Charles Winston. Family members of the Eure family have kept in place many of the founding principles and stay tuned in to their employees and guests as the guiding light. We were provided a tour by Chloe last night after X and sommelier Kevin both suggested we do so. The information that young woman shares about the restaurant, its history, the Eure family, the wine cellar, and unique dining opportunities beyond the dining rooms is mind-blowing. Chloe made me want to go home and learn more, and I did! But not until we shopped in their Country Store with Scott ringing up our treasures as he provided more fun facts about Angus Barn. Then Walter Hilliard Greene bid us a warm and genuine good-bye as he encouraged me to take an apple from the barrel that sits at the front entryway. I was so surprised and asked him incredulously, "Really!?!?" This famous-in-his-own rights guy assured me that is what guests do as they leave Angus Barn. I asked him his name, I shook his hand, and I smiled knowing I had found a new restaurant home in Raleigh. We did not want our early dinner night to end yet so we stopped at Mike's bar outside at the Entrance Saloon. As he seemed to ask each guest, Mike asked us, "What are you celebrating?" with such a warmth in his voice that you felt like he truly cared about the answer forthcoming. We told him we were celebrating moving to Raleigh and finally getting to Angus Barn! That started another great conversation with another member of the Angus Barn family. As a former restaurant manager (I worked with David Laxer of Bern's Steak House back in Tampa as his General Manager of their sister restaurant SideBern's back in the late 1990's) I recognize and deeply appreciate a well-run restaurant that not only puts out fabulous cuisine with wines that pair perfectly with the Chef's culinary team's talent but also showcases a staff that obviously loves what they do and who they do it for. Van Eure continues her parents' legacy of "the guest is our boss" mentality. Great leaders listen to their staff and customers, and Van does just that. I can only hope I have the honor to meet Van on our next visit in to this exceptional restaurant.

We took my mother in-law to the Angus Barn a few weeks ago for her birthday and had an amazing experience. I have been quite a few times but it was my in-laws' first time and it couldn't have been more perfect. I noticed that I left a review over six years ago and am glad the last few times I've been, my experience changed. I made a reservation about a month in advice for a Monday evening at 5pm. No issue doing so. If you've been to the Angus Barn, you know it's a special place. There are many that say it's overrated and overpriced. Well, it's surely expensive, but it's no secret. Every little thing about the place is magnificent. From the tiny details, the decor, the coziness, the service, the food; all of it! We got seated as soon as we arrived and had our toddler with us. Aria, our waitress, greeted us right away and let me tell you, I waited tables on and off for 15 years. I am unsure I've had a waitress this amazing and I've had some good ones. Aria was fun, kind, extremely knowledgeable, patient, great with our toddler. When we go back, we will be asking for her, as I cannot say enough exceptional things! You're greeted with waters, crackers with pub cheese, and a bowl of pickles, olives, peppers, etc. The menu is incredibly extensive, as well as the wine list. My mother-in law opted for the Flirtini martini, which also happens to be my mom's favorite. I went for my usual, the J. LOHR Cabernet. I do wish they had a few more [Napa] Cabernets by the glass, but I still enjoyed it! We shared a few appetizers and then ordered entrées. For the appetizers we went with a few I've already had: the ravioli (our daughter loved this, but so did we), the Oysters Rockefeller, Shrimp Cocktail, and Filet Mignon Meatballs. All were delicious, and the Oysters are always some of the best I've ever had. The new appetizer (for us): Filet Meatballs, PHEW! These were wildly delicious. I think these will definitely be on our list every time we visit the Angus Barn. On to the entrées! My mother in-law ordered the prime rib and loved it. I didn't try it but it did look good! My husband ordered the ribs which I tried; these were stellar. Juicy, flavorful, and fall off the bone. My father in-law ordered a filet mignon and also enjoyed it. I found my new favorite since the last time we went, the filet mignon medallions with an espresso rub and red wine chili reduction. I would surely get this again and again! It's served with a side of mashed potatoes and soup or salad. I opted for the French onion soup and it did not disappoint! The last few times we have been to the Angus Barn have been exceptional experiences. We are going again next month for our wedding anniversary and going to try out the lounge to explore the ambience and slightly different menu. I highly recommend the Angus Barn for any special occasion!

Great dining experience but phew I am stuffed! Our waiter was super kind and the ambiance gives rustic, southern charm. My stuffed potatoes could have used a little bit of salt. The steak was cooked well, but also lacking some flavor this time around. Slightly disappointed by those. I do always love coming here though.

Angus Barn is one of my favorite restaurants to celebrate a great occasion. My friends and I decided to make reservation during the holiday season as their decor for Christmas is amazing. Even if you don't have a chance to eat there, I definitely recommend going and looking at the lights and all of the decor. The weeder and food was amazing as always. But is a special occasion restaurant. So make sure that you budget as it is pretty pricey.

My family had meals at Angus Barns on several occasions. Our visit on the evening of November 29th was disappointing. As usual during the holiday season the christmas decorations inside the restaurant were gorgeous. However, the experience this year was not up to par to past holiday visits. Most of the hostess staff was wearing oversized sweatshirts, even though most of the other waiters had on shirt and ties, our waiter was wearing an oversized zip-up fleece without a button down shirt or tie. Also, several patrons in the main restaurant were dining at tables wearing short sleeved t-shirts. The experience was more sports bar than the Christmas themed dressy casual of most patrons in recent years. Our steak was mediocre and other entree's were substandard to our most recent in May of this year. The Dress Code posted online and at the door should be removed due to not being being enforced.

Omg! This place is soooooo amazing!!! I have lived in Cary/ Raleigh since 2018 and it's just NOW I checked out this place. We didn't have reservations so we ended up at the Lounge. The entire place is beautiful and the staff are absolutely adorable. There is plenty of space and light appetizers ( for free) while you wait for your table. We had Ana amazing time. Plenty of parking and they also have valet if that is what you prefer! So many cute spots to take amazing pictures. Ok, ok now to the food! It was yummy!!!! If you are in town (Nov- Dec) especially check it out. If you want to sit in their formal dinning room, you need reservations I advance ( 6 months) . If you don't, you can opt for lounge ( no reservations )but wait time can be 45 minutes or more...

Used to live their Thanksgiving buffet but now as just a plated meal, the family is disappointed. They have taken away your personal choice. Kids do not like it now.

Delicious food, a festive holiday atmosphere, and attentive service made this visit truly special. I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional quality - every dish was outstanding!

Went here for our 35th wedding anniversary. If you like steak this is the place to go. It's pricey but worth every penny. The start you off with a cheese and cracker tray and if you like a relish tray too. I ordered the espresso rubbed filets with blue cheese mashed potato and green beans included is a salad or soup and I chose the broccoli cheese soup which was amazing. The the bread and butter came out which was really yummy. My wire ordered the regular prime rib and it was done to perfection and she said it was among the best she ever had. They always ask if you are celebrating anything and we said our anniversary and at the end of the meal we got an anniversary pound cake. If you are celebrating a special occasion this is the place to do so.

From the very beginning, it's extremely impressive to look at. From the sheer size, the entry way with an outdoor bar that you can get some refreshers while you wait, to inside the restaurant. Definitely not over the top requirements, but your hat DOES need to come off. The overall atmosphere was extremely pleasant. From our wait staff, our service, to the food... it was all top notch and a great experience. I arrived with a large group of folks for a supplier/customer shmooze n booze festivity and it was GREAT! Our hosts knew that menu from front to back and made sure all of our needs were met. They were on top of it! I ordered the 14oz. Ribeye with the Stuffed Baked Potato for a side, which is basically a twice baked potato with the goodies but it came in a dish. There were crackers/wafers with cheese spreads dishes, various pickled veggies, peppers,and olives scattered throughout the tables. They brought out some loaves of warm bread... all part of the experience. Nothing we asked for. It was just there. As for the ribeye... it was decent. I think I was expecting an explosion of flavor or something mind blowing... but... it was alright. Nothing too impressive. However, that Loaded stuffed potato dish? Wow!! Now that was something!! Absolutely fantastic! Others around me had the rack of ribs, the lamb chops, pasta dishes, and even a fillet mignon wrapped in bacon. I opted for no dessert, but had myself some doubles of Woodford Reserves, and an old Fashioned. The price was steep, but expected in this type of environment. Overall, definitely a must try and most definitely would come here again with my better half. Coming from the PNW, there isn't much like this establishment. But since in Texas, steakhouses are plentiful, so the real competition is how the meats and foods are prepared. So with that, I'll leave with this... great experience and atmosphere and as always, Enjoy & Happy Eating!

This place is wild. A friend recommended that we check out the Angus Barn while on a recent trip. Just pulling up to the restaurant we felt like we had no idea where were. The property is massive and there is decor everywhere you look. It felt like we were at some combination of Wild West Disneyworld/Hallmark Christmas movie. That being said, the service was impeccable. Our waiter was personable and extremely attentive. The asparagus was cooked perfectly, and the filet was one of the best I've ever had. My one critique would be that the salmon was a tad overcooked for my taste, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. What an experience.

Wowww. Such a cool venue. Great service and great food. They have a super cool wine flight with 3 or 6 pours. Skye was my server and she is so good. We chatted about food and wine and she helped curate a perfect meal.

Wow!!! Every aspect of The Angus Barn is top tier. The ambience is incredible. The Christmas decorations really made everything feel festive, too. Every bite of food was melt in your mouth delicious. I cannot say enough good things about how good all the food was. Loved the appetizers (try those meatballs), the bone in rib eye steak was cooked to perfection (in the future I also want to try their tomahawk), the cocktails were presented in a fun way (try the smoked old fashioned) and were delicious (plus they have a phenomenal wine list) and the dessert was out of this world (I had some chocolate pie type cookie thing that I soon won't forget). Now all of this alone is plenty of reason to visit The Angus Barn, but I've saved the best part of this review for the last part. Our service was impeccable and truly added to our dining experience. A HUGE THANK YOU to Kristine for being so kind, efficient, knowledgeable, prompt, professional and helpful to us throughout our meal. Color me impressed!! The night we were there was her final night of training (I'm guessing she passed with flying colors). Before leaving I reached out to the manager to thank her for our wonderful dining experience and to share how much we appreciated Kristine taking care of us. Thanks so much, to Kristine and everyone at The Angus Barn. What a lovely dining experience. Next time I'm in the area, I'll be sure to come back.

What a place! I'm new to the area and this was the FIRST place I tried when I landed. This place has a great country vibe with yummy steaks! (And I'm from Texas so that says a lot). Service was great. She was patient with my friend and I since we hadn't seen each other in a year.... Our waitress just let us take our time and was super kind! I hear about this place for Christmas. Can't wait to see it. And the mushrooms are a must try!!

I had heard good things about Angus Barn and was really looking forward to a great experience, but unfortunately the Angus Barn did not meet expectations. We went as a group of 3 to eat and see the holiday decorations. It truly was decked out for Christmas and there are many great photo opportunities. If you have a reservation (which is difficult to get during the holidays, we made ours in September and had to eat at 9pm on a Sunday), I'd recommend coming 15 minutes early to see the decorations. We got sat on time for our reservation. Our waiter came to greet us and tell us about the menu and then brought out cheese spread and crackers. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, special Tuscan Spice Rubbed Ribeye, boneless Ribeye and Filet mignon. We never got the shrimp cocktail (although our waiter had confirmed we wanted the 12 shrimp when we ordered), but it looks like it was never rung in when we got the check at the end. The salads that come with the meal were sizable. The spinach salad is more like a Cobb salad with bacon and hard boiled eggs. The garden salad is more of a traditional salad. They both have a healthy serving of raw red onions. The Caesar salad was plain without much flavor and the lettuce was soggy. When we got our steak our waiter did not ask us to cut into the steak to confirm we liked the cook, although he did ask other tables. The Tuscan Spice Rubbed Ribeye was the best steak of the three. It was flavorful with a nice garlic aioli and button mushrooms. It was also cooked perfectly. The next best steak was the filet mignon wrapped in bacon. It was slightly undercooked (inside was more pink than expected for a medium well but it was a thick piece of steak) but overall enjoyable and flavorful and would order again. The least best steak was the boneless ribeye. Again, it was undercooked (inside was too pink which is surprising given how thin it was) and lacked flavor; this one would have benefitted from sauce but we were never offered steak sauce. One point of note is that it seems the bread and relish dish are upon request only? I saw other customers with bread and asked about bread and olives when our steaks came out and was told it was upon request. They did bring out bread and only brought out olives (no other components of the relish dish as described by other reviews) which I thought was very interesting that I was not offered the complete relish dish in addition to having to ask. The bread was soft and warm. At the end, they did ask if we wanted dessert but we said we were full and didn't get the dessert presentation. Our waiter packed up our food for us but put my food in the bag on the floor. Luckily, another waiter picked it up and put it on the back of my chair and made a comment that he didn't think it belonged on the floor, which I thought was nice. In summary: The good: - decorations/ambiance were excellent and made the experience very festive - the steak was decent but not what I would consider upper tier compared to other specialty non-chain steakhouses The bad: - our service left much to be desired (did not place the order for our shrimp cocktail, seemed put off when asked for bread/olives and did not offer the full relish bowl, did not ask us to check our steak cook, didn't get the dessert presentation (although we did say we were full), etc). I did notice other tables getting better service from other waiters so this was waiter-specific. I'm a little surprised at how subpar the service was given how much money was spent for food and drinks on this meal. - the salad and sides were nothing special and reminiscent of the sides that are seen at chains like Applebee's. We tried the creamed spinach, sweet potato, stuffed potato (appears to be mashed potatoes mixed with bacon, cheese, chives, sour cream and placed in a dish and rebaked).

We celebrated a birthday here and had a wonderful steak dinner. Service was spectacular, ambience was very detailed. The military vet we were with loved seeing the honor paid to the military. When they heard he was a Vet, they sent us home with a bottle of wine.

What a great new Christmas tradition. We happened across this great restaurant while heading into Raleigh last week. The Christmas decorations are a visual dream. But the food and service is top notch. Melissa was a joy and provided great insight to the history and dining experience at Angus Barn. We took advantage of the time and tried several of the waiting areas, all of which are a masterpiece of Christmas spirit and fond memories of American History. We look forward to coming back soon. Important to get a reservation and don't be afraid to take the late seating. It was worth our time to hang out and enjoy the place. Oh, and the food was excellent. Great meal and all the extra snack items are amazing. I only wish I could try dessert, but I knew I was too full and now have an excuse to come back. Melissa was so helpful and insightful on Angus Barn. She kept us informed and well served during this great experience.

Our most favorite Christmas tradition! We've been making Christmas reservations for a few years now-and it's the best. The decorations are incredible to say the least and the service is amazing. We ordered our usual steaks and sides and beverages. We also ordered a crème brûlée instead of the chess pie and it's the best I've ever had! We took our kiddo and the kids meal was also fantastic (but we wouldn't expect anything less!) To address the previous review about kids dining at Angus Barn. Here's the deal (coming from a parent): if your kid is melting down or struggles to dine out, it's 100% NOT the appropriate environment. Y'all need a ChickfilA. Angus Barn isn't cheap and it would be super irritating to have the ambiance ruined by a screaming kid. Luckily our kid loves dining out and decor, otherwise we would've gotten a babysitter.

Atmosphere and service was great! Steak was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Did learn the upstairs you actually don't need to make a reservation so that's good to know for the future!

I came here yesterday for an early Valentine's Day celebration and was at awe at not typical this steakhouse is. It's a very rustic feel with more lighting than a usual steakhouse which I thought was interesting. When you first enter, there's a waiting room with a bar which is unlike anything I've seen. Then we were sat on the second floor which was nice and quiet and beautiful. To start, I got the Coastal Cowboy drink which was very good and some complimentary cheese and crackers and bread and butter which were all good but not the biggest fan of the cheese. For apps, we got the crab cakes and mac n cheese which were both mind-blowingly amazing. I then got the lobster tail with mashed potato and caesar salad. The caesar salad was very good but too big of a portion and the mashed potato was the perfect texture but needed more flavor. The lobster tail was super good and filling. For dessert, I got the chocolate explosion which is a hot fudge sundae with the famous chocolate chess pie and they complimented each other super well. Our waitress was the sweetest person and was super nice and helpful throughout the whole dinner.

Traditionally, my husband and I come here on our anniversary. Tonight was #27! We sat outside and the most wonderful floor manager, Ken, turned on heaters for us and brought us blankets as we were sitting outside. After our dinner, he saw us and said "wait! You didn't get your anniversary cake." He proceeded to walk us into the kitchen, light 3 candles (past, present and future) for us to blow out and sent us home with the cake. Honestly, I teared up. This wonderful man went above and beyond to make us feel seen and special! Thank you, Angus Barn. Thank you, Ken! What a night to remember!

One of my besties lives here in Raleigh, so when my significant other wanted to come to North Carolina for his birthday, this girl was on board! I packed my bags and called her to ask what were all the places we needed to visit while here! The Angus Barn was one! First, it's hard to get a reservation so how we pulled it off with only two weeks notice, who knows, but we got lucky! Driving into The Angus Barn was like driving into an enchanted castle. During the winter months they turn this barn into the North Pole (of course what I assume the North Pole would look like). Christmas decor is unmatched, this ambiance took my breath away. We drove up and intended to get valet service only to find a front parking. As we parked, the valet guy informed us we took a valet spot, we apologized and he said we could just stay. Super NICE! So sorry for the mishap! The entire restaurant is decorated so it was easy to check in and walk around in amazement at all the beautiful decor. Within a few minutes we were seated. Jeff was our server and he was amazing. Jeff was as sweet as a Georgia peach. He really knows how to make people feel at home. Now let's get into it! Appetizers: Complementary Cheese/Crackers - Yum! Shrimp Cocktail- Delicious Oyster's Rockefeller - Okay Ribs - Delicious Crab cake - Just Okay (I'm from the DMV hard to replicate our crab cakes) Main: Ribeye - Delicious Baked Potato - Delicious Side Salad - Delicious Desserts: Complimentary Pound Cake - Delicious This Girl HIGHLY RECOMMENDS! Stuffed! First time mistakes were made. The cheese and crackers with wine/beer are extremely good. It does fill you up though. Once you order and get your soup/salad and main entree, you can forget about dessert. That's a treat all by itself. Pace yourself and enjoy your meal. This was a pleasant experience and look forward to returning again, next time with a better plan in place to enjoy the entree.

I gave this restaurant 5 stars because it is so beautiful now all decorated for Xmas, the service was outstanding, love the white cheddar and crackers, love the spinach salad with the warm poppyseed dressing, and the portions are large. Having said that the entrees were good but not wonderful. I ordered the prime rib and it could have been seasoned better, my husband ordered the seared tuna not blackened and he said it was tasteless.

Fun experience with enchanting decor and great service. The food was ample and pretty good, but the chateaubriand was a bit overcooked and parts were chewy.

Just OK. When you pay a premium you expect above-the-line results. We've eaten here now three times with friends and we've had consistent experiences. Steaks were prepared just as we requested but they are just not great. Appetizers we've tried have been very very good. Love the Smokey old fashioned and wine selection. Service is spotty. Some good and some not good. Always Friendly and professional service but a few times we've felt a bit underwhelmed by the service. Fun atmosphere inside especially during the holidays. Expensive and not worth the premium. We prefer other spots in Raleigh for a great steak.

The Angus Barn is a fun experience and an institution in Raleigh,especially during the holidays. We came on a whim on a Saturday night and decided to wait the 2 hours for a bar seat. We had some drinks, cheese & crackers, and enjoyed the evening. My husband had the steak sandwich and I had the ravioli with marinara. Everything was pretty good. The desserts were phenomenal. I loved the melt-in-your mouth chocolate chess pie. The vibe is fun and everyone is very friendly.

This place is truly amazing and a steak eaters paradise. There is a bar in front porch, a humidor just inside, a room with many old guns and a book of descriptions for each one, and another bar upstairs. Had oysters and ribs for an appetizer. Both were really good. Started with French onion soup. It was very very cheesy. Upset my stomach some with how much cheese it had but it was so tasty! And the bread crouton on it was good too. The steaks everyone had were huge and cooked perfectly and everyone loved them. Sides of mashed potatoes and mushrooms which were delicious. The desserts shared was some chocolaty chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream and some other dessert. Honestly the dessert tray they bring out made all the desserts look good. Our server was awesome and friendly and attended to our needs very well. It is a bit pricy here but for the meal and experience it is worth it. Highly recommend.

My husband and I tried this restaurant while our kids were out of town. I have to say... it lived up to the hype. We enjoyed the experience together. The creamed spinach was delicious! Twice baked potatoes I think, gosh can't remember what they were actually called but they were so good. We both got two different ribeyes. He got the tomahawk. That was an experience! But honestly my ribeye was much better and half the price. When it came to desserts I actually didn't like the chocolate pie and actually sent it back. When I did, our waiter didn't take it off the check. I only took one bite of the whole thing and finished my husbands crème brûlée. We also saw many other tables with relish trays and had never even gotten one of those. I didn't realize that was part of the experience. While walking out we saw many kiddos eating apples and I thought that was so funny! We stopped in the store and grabbed an ornament (because I collect them). They sell many of their staples in house. Bring a sweater because it's chilly inside. It's a bit dark as well. But a very intimate setting. We enjoyed our time overall.

Great food! The ambience is soothing! Staff always pleasant. This is the place for special occasions or just a night to chill. Desserts are always good if you have room!

Angus Barn - 5 stars on all counts. Front of the house and back of the house is a well oiled machine. They have everything down to a science and they roll out the orders with every steak expertly seasoned and cooked perfectly to temp. The house cheese and crackers while not only delicious were also such a nice change of pace over the usual loaf of bread or rolls. Wait staff were super professional and extremely helpful with everything. Out of all the steakhouses I've endured in recent years, Angus Barn certainly deserves a spot in the top 2 in the nation on all facets. Casual atmosphere although there is a required dress code to enter The Angus Barn. Practice common sense, it's an upscale restaurant not a strip club so plan your attire accordingly or prepare to take your business elsewhere.

We went to the Angus Barn with our friends who are celebrating their 47th wedding anniversary. They have gone to the Angus Barn every year since their 1st anniversary! I have always heard about Angus Barn's burger, famously made with one whole pound of meat! It was seriously the best burger I have ever had! My husband ordered the steak sandwich with grilled onions. Both of us could only eat half of our meal! I forgot to take a photo of the complimentary relish dish of olives, pickles, celery and peppers and the tray of pub cheese and crackers. Everything was outstanding, including the service!

Angus Barn set a bar for all places to follow, from the ambiance, drinks and the food, they check all the boxes. Don't come in for a quick bite at supper, it's an experience. Enjoy the decor, the setting and the food.

Pros: The place to come in Raleigh for a celebration meal: great service in a sprawling building whose staff are all trained pros, with an epic wine list and excellent steaks, sides (especially the unusual "twisty" fries and twice baked potatoes). Wonderful nostalgic touches like the cheese spread and relish tray when you sit. The best chocolate chess pie ever. Cons: Can be very expensive ($250 for the two of us, easily) but a wonderful experience of a meal, for once or twice a year. Reservations are not optional, otherwise you get stuck in the lounge, which has its own charm but isn't really comfortable for dining.

The Angus Barn is an amazing place! Bring your appetite because the portions are plentiful. Although pricy, it's really worth it. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was busy but cozy enough that we felt exclusive. The service was excellent and made our Anniversary special.

Came here in late January to catch the Holiday decorations and they did not disappoint. I did not have reservations and just wanted to grab a few drinks and appetizers at the bar. I could not believe how popular and busy this place was. From the parking lot, dining room and bar, every seat was taken. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the few appetizers we had were very good. From looking at the steaks that people were having it did not appear to be of the high end steakhouse fancy (at least in presentation) but everyone seemed to be enjoying it. The decorations were truly beautiful and worth the visit. Definitely make reservations.

Angus Barn is Raleigh institution. If you haven't been, you have to go atleast once. Instead of bread, they start with crackers and cheese spread (yum!). We all had bacon wrapped filets and all were tender and cooked to perfection. We were celebrating a birthday, and the sever brought out a special lemon pound cake, which we took home because we ordered dessert. The table enjoyed the Chocolate Chess Pie and the Blackberry Cobbler. Service was excellent!

Highly recommend this steakhouse! Reservations definitely needed. Started with the complimentary cheese, crackers, and olive platter. They were good. I split the 22 oz bone-in Ribeye (medium rare) which comes with your choice of soup/salad and potato side. We split the Caesar, ordered a stuffed baked potato and an extra side of mac and cheese. It was PLENTY of food. The steak was cooked perfectly. For dessert we ordered their legendary Chocolate chess pie in Sundae form, served with a scoop of chocolate and salted caramel ice-creams, hot fudge, whipped cream, and cherry. Huge sharing portion. Service was great. Definitely will return.

What a place!! It looked like we were driving into "Wonderland" with the extravagant Christmas lights already up. I've never been to a restaurant with so many Christmas decorations. It was a sight for sore eyes. It reminded me of a Christmas festival but it was just a regular Friday dinner date night in Raleigh! Once we were seated, our server was amazing with the perfect sense of humor that went along quite well with our silliness! I wish I had a bigger appetite because the menu was quite appealing. We had the shrimp cocktail, ribs, and ribeye.. Excellent! We also had the oysters Rockefeller and Crab Cakes. Those two are the culprits for why The Angus Barn got 4 stars and not 5. They need to go back to the drawing board with those two. Coming from the Crab Cake Capitol of the world, they need to make a trip up north to Maryland and pay a visit to Jerry's or even Blue Dolphin and take notes. The Oysters Rockefeller were drippy and just not good. This place is great and I can't wait to come back. There is soooo much to the menu, I can easily sub the crab cake and Oysters Rockefeller for something else and be just fine!!!

Everything was 5 star. Ambience was gorgeous, I absolutely loved where we sat and it was super romantic. Our waitress was first class and she constantly made sure we were doing good. She also gave us a cake for Valentine's Day! First, the cheese and crackers are great, the best cheese and crackers, but it's not bread. The crab cakes are amazing but felt a little too pricey. Mac and cheese was excellent melts in your mouth. The ceasers sold was great and had me excited for the main course. I got the ribeye medium rare with mashed potatoes and garlic butter, it was amazing. One of the best cuts of meat I have had. I also got the blackberry cobbler for dessert and it was a bit tart which personally I didn't LOVE but the texture was amazing and I always loved howling cow ice cream
