Portland First Dates Should Start at Northeast 30th and Killingsworth | Eater Portland

"For something a little quieter but still relaxed, I recommend Wilder as a neighborhood watering hole with super-approachable food, balanced cocktails, and a mellower atmosphere that lets conversation breathe." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

I don't think Google allows as many words as I need in order to write this review, but I would start by warning ANYONE touring this property to stay far away from Wilder and any Greystar properties. Do NOT let the pretty decor and architecture fool you. I was told about this property by an apartment locator who I would not work with again. The lobby and the design of the building are beautiful and the Nespresso machine upstairs (when it's stocked) is an awesome perk. The view from the rooftop is so gorgeous, but other than that, I have nothing positive to say about this building. Keep in mind, these units are brand new. When I initially moved in in the middle of July, my AC was broken and did not get fixed for a week. My oven did not work for a month (every time I turned it on, it would trip the breaker box), and their solution was to give me access to an empty unit to cook in there until my oven was fixed (???) and I did not receive any type of rent credit for this. When I toured the building, I inquired about how small the washers and dryers were, and it was not disclosed to me during the tour, but after my move in I was told that they are actually RV washers and dryers. I am not exaggerating when I say it takes me over 5 hours to dry a single queen size fitted sheet and a single queen sized flat sheet. In my shower there is a canned light, and a week after I moved in, as I was getting out of the shower, I noticed that the light was dangling out of the ceiling, exposing the wires, and when I talked to maintenance, was told not to worry because it is 'waterproof'. ok. In August, I was coming in from taking my dog outside, and on the ground directly below the keypad to get into the building, there were several puddles of fresh blood, and I immediately emailed the office about it and it took them 5 days to even respond to my email (and the blood was obviously not cleaned up during that time). There are a lot of people who blatantly disregard the trash situation and there have been times that there is so much trash piled up that there is not even space to pull into the loading zone if you were moving in. Being right on Colfax is already loud to begin with, but directly across the street, there is another complex being built, and I had to call in a noise complaint because they are starting construction there as early as 4a. It was also not disclosed to me during my tour that we as residents are required to pay, in addition to our own utilities, 'community utilities', which has been a sizable add on to the monthly cost. When I toured the building, I based my decision to move in off of the fact that I would be getting a storage unit in the building. When it came time to move in, I was told that the storage unit was no longer available, because maintenance was using it for storage. For over a month, until the unit became available, I had to keep my stuff in an offsite storage facility which was highly inconvenient and expensive. There have been several random cars parked directly outside of the door to the garage making it a massive inconvenience to get in and out of the building. There have also been a few times that the garage door to the 'secured garage' is stuck wide open for several hours. We were also told that on August 27, there would be keypad implementation so that our elevators would be secure and you wouldn't be able to access the floors without a key code, and obviously that was never implemented. A few days ago, there was a man with his bike in the lobby who did not live there, and then walked outside and started yelling and swearing at no one. There is also no guest parking whatsoever, and if it's a Bronco game day, forget about even leaving the building or having anyone over. Don't let the pretty decor fool you, this building is not at ALL worth what any of us are paying to live there. Many of us were intentionally mislead prior to signing our leases and the only thing that would redeem this building is if they were fair, and allowed me to break my lease without penalty.

The property manager here is amazing! Any concern I brought up to her directly was resolved within days, sometimes even within hours. A few items in my apartment required warranty service through a third-party vendor, which took a little longer to schedule, but they were still resolved quickly. As for recycling, I actually feel bad for the team. The area is usually clean and well maintained, but one day someone left more than 20 unbroken boxes which caused the temporary issue. I truly enjoy living here and highly recommend this property to anyone. Given the issues I have experienced at other places, this community has been a breath of fresh air.

YIKES. Please think twice about moving here. Let's start with the positives, to be fair. It is an absolutely stunning apartment. The lobby is gorgeous, and the rooftop has a great view of the mountains. The location is also pretty solid. Walking distance from Sloan's and right on the highway so you can get just about anywhere in Denver in 20 minutes or so. Now, the downfalls...and there are plenty. What it comes down to is management. Although everyone is nice, the organization is a disaster. - The recycling has been an issue since I moved in. It is now a full-on MOUNTAIN of trash. I know the bug and mice problem is soon to follow. - Fetch. This brand-new apartment opted for a horrible package service rather than prioritizing a package room. Fetch is a 3rd party package service, so instead of your Amazon Prime packages arriving in 1-2 days, they come much, much later and are often damaged or lost. Read literally any reviews online about Fetch. They are horrible. - Empty promises. There are a variety of things they marketed and promised during my tour that are still not available. One of which is the bike repair station. I've emailed multiple times (many of which went unanswered for weeks). They also said street permit parking would be available, but that's no longer an option, so you must pay for a spot. The Peloton bikes they love to boast about took months for them to actually set up. It's ridiculous. Overall, I would recommend finding a different place. There are so many more apartments out there that offer WAY more than this place and cost about the same (if not less).

Nancy was amazing during my tour! super friendly and informative. I love the beautiful plants when you walk in, the great views, and how close Wilder Apartments is to everything in the WeCo area. Such a great vibe overall!

Moved here in May 2025. Have not had any glaring issues with my unit. I work remotely and the internet is fine, not sure why people are complaining about that. The team here seems understaffed to be honest, feel bad they can’t accommodate to every single person’s inquiries all the time, seems unfair from higher management and prob not on them. The amenities are new and the building cleanliness is way better than other buildings in Denver. Not to mention the location is safe; my car in the outdoor lot and never have concerns for random civilians walking into the lot and trying to break in. The trash/recycle system could use improvements but they’re getting more bins. Again that seems more of upper management issue, can’t believe they only put one tiny recycling bin in the garage for a giant building. Some tenants here are what cause the most nuisance. Stop parking in other ppl’s spots, and use the damn fetch packaging service it’s not that hard you get automatically billed for it so why wouldnt you use it. I literally have not had one package damaged or lost. You’re more prone to a stolen package if you ship it to Wilder building and it’s left wide open in mail room.

The architecture and amenities are desirable and staff is friendly. Yet with a 30 day move in deadline and many hiccups along the way (which were neither parties fault), management didn’t meet said deadline nor communicated they would not be able to. These errors leave people unable to move, spending double rent, having to scramble to reschedule movers… no thanks! They did me a favor on the front end allowing me to choose another community but not without unnecessary stress due to wasted time, money, and energy. Upon reading reviews, it seems lack of timely repairs and communication is a factor for tenants so I feel good about ultimately choosing not to move in due to the missed deadline. Onward and Upward! ***Update 10/10/25, I was informed by Joan with the Wilder that a work around during disputing credit fraud on my report, which thankfully is now cleared, was to use a third party called one guarantee app and paying an additional month’s rent to guarantee approval. After 3 weeks of waiting for my deposits to be refunded, I sent a follow up email asking where my deposits are as by Colorado law they have 30 days. I was informed by Joan that I needed to speak directly with the third party they advised me would move the process along. Upon reviewing one guarantee app’s return policy, it is the Wilders responsibility to initiate the refund. 3 weeks wasted while over $2k is held. The Wilder’s management deflects all accountability even when it’s their responsibility. *^** Updated 10/21/25 One guarantee app did not need anything from me. They needed the Wilder to let them know I declined leading from them due to a missed deadline which took over 3 weeks and several requests from me including a negative review to facilitate. A holding deposit was given to The Wilder so they continue to deflect, not take responsibility, and now are completely being dishonest.

It’s honestly a shame how some adults get upset when management doesn’t clean up their mess fast enough. The onsite team here is amazing! Victoria always takes time to say hi and check in on how things are going. Any issue I’ve reported has been fixed quickly. The trash situation everyone complained about lasted maybe a week, and people made such a big deal out of it. That’s what happens when everything is usually perfect because one small hiccup feels huge.
