Best place in town for gluten free food! Here I had my first chicken fried steak, which was absolutely delicious. Brisket Tacos are amazing too! Everything is gluten free and the waiters are super friendly. If you are looking for a place with gluten free food (suitable for celiacs) you should definitely go there. *cinnamon rolls was delicious 😋

Google
Great little 100% gluten free place! As someone not gluten free, I was very impressed with all their dishes - you could hardly tell there was no gluten. However, I’m knocking down a star because I did feel like their food was a bit bland when it didn’t need to be. They had great parking and a good staff and a great vibe, I would come back again!

As a gluten free family from a small town, it was a special treat for us to feel comfortable eating any item on the menu. The onion rings were the best I’ve ever had! Everything we tried was delicious, and we will absolutely be back next time we are in Austin. Our server was amazing and super helpful also. This place is awesome whether you are gluten free or not!

My wife and I frequently visit this establishment due to her having celiac. Burgers are great and served on a very tasty homemade bun. The fried chicken is delicious. I try to order something different each time I go and haven’t been disappointed with anything I’ve ordered. Service is a bit slow due to only 2-3 employees on duty most of the time. Parking can be tricky. I recommend pulling in from the road behind the building. Outside seating can be loud depending on traffic flow. Restrooms are dark and usually need attention. Plenty of treats in the dessert case to choose from! An employee was sitting behind the building smoking about 15 feet from where we were sitting. Luckily, he went back inside before our food arrived. Small customer service fee added to ticket.

Google
This restaurant is incredible! I have celiac disease and it’s very rare for me to find a restaurant that I can trust and also one that serves delicious and clean food. The menu has so many great options and everything I have tasted has been amazing! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the outside seating was lovely. I recommend this place to anyone!

Google
The food was good for gluten free. Service was not great. We ordered onion rings, chips and queso as appetizers. Both were decent. The queso was pretty thin and plain. Wofe got a chicken fried steak andni got the Wilde guacamole burger with an egg. Our sides were Cesar salads. One salad came out wrong and the burger didn't have the onions or jalapeños as advertised. Chicken fried steak eas very good. I would recommend this place for takeout but not for sit down. The server was on her phone the entire time we were there. She literally had her phone pressed to her ear as she brought out food.

Went on a Sunday about 130, took about 10 minutes to be seated with three open tables nearby and then close to an hour for the food to arrive. Looked like they were slightly understaffed but all the people working were working hard. Could def be a 3 star rating to wait an hour for your order, but the staff was very friendly and courteous while trying to catch up. Food was good but nothing extraordinary. The novelty of having gluten free "fried chicken" has worn a little thin. Gf fried calamari was a little tough but ok. Would still highly recommend to anyone who is gluten free and I'll likely visit a third time to try other menu items.... Just beware they have regular non GF beers in the bar.

Google
💯 Gluten free in a dedicated Gluten free kitchen y'all. But you wouldn't know it eating their food! We've had this spot ear marked for a while and boy was it totally worth the visit. We had the Waller burger, Camaron taco, Queso & chips, wings and a couple of margaritas. Everything was delicious and eating in a gluten free environment was the ultimate luxury for us. Bonus points for a cute, shaded patio and being so close to all of the east side hip bars ✨ perfect for a quick bite before a night out bar hopping nearby. We're definitely going back to try more of their delicious menu 🤤

Yelp
I love gluten but I'm happy to forego it to eat and drink here. Jake creates wonderful cocktails. So far I've sampled the Margarita De Flor (which contains mezcal for a smoky taste that blends well with the other flavors) and the Mexican Martini (delicious and served in a shaker for a generous amount as opposed to some other places that just provide a single glassful). From the dinner menu, I've had the Wild Guacamole Burger, which is one of the best burgers in town IMHO. I've also had the vegetarian version of the Stuffed Avocado. It was good but benefited from some added pico de gallo for flavor (hot sauce could be a good alternative). It comes with fried Brussel sprouts in a sweet & sour sauce in a good sized portion. Nonetheless I wanted more. The menu is long so I'm looking forward to further sampling from it. It is easy to find seating. Service is friendly and prompt. The shaded, outside deck looks great for when it is not sweltering.

Yelp
I am thoroughly surprised that this establishment has the positive reviews it has. We went to Wilder Wood for dinner on a Saturday evening and could not have been more unsatisfied with every single part of our experience dining here--if you could consider what we did "dining". We weren't greeted by anyone, server, host or bartender. Someone looking very frazzled told us to seat ourselves and "don't sit upstairs, it's closed", despite the fact we made a reservation for four. We sat for about 15 minutes, not greeted. Our first drink orders were taken by two servers, and were delivered after 30 minutes. I will say our appetizer did come out hot and was decent. The margarita I ordered with everyone's dinner order did not come for another 15-30 minutes only after I went to the bar and reminded the frazzled looking server that I was missing my drink order. No one came by to check on us, no staff asked how things were going. Parties that had been seated after us had now ordered, gotten their food and left. We had been at the restaurant for an hour and a half at this point. Finally I noticed someone behind the bar who hadn't been there previously. I went back up to the bar and explained the whole situation and asked where our food was, and if there was anything they'd be able to do to help the situation. He was also stressed because the frazzled server who also evidently was the manager was missing and upstairs on the phone taking a personal call. I was shocked and still am. He looked up our food and told me it was done, just no one had run it out to us. I went back to the table, he brought our dead food out, and it was just that, cold and hard. The fish in the fish taco I ordered was actually solid. The frazzled "manager" finally came over to our table after about 5 minutes of us having our cold food and said "So, what's the situation?" to us. I told her that we have been here for over an hour, gotten terrible service and our food was dead and cold. She said "oh yeah, I had a phone call I had to take," and took no responsibility nor apologized for the embarrassing service we received from her. The only staff member that apologized to us was the bartender who was very kind and understanding about our experience. We then asked if we could receive a discount off the food which was all cold and the server actually told us she couldn't apply a discount. I come from food service and this would've NEVER happened at any restaurant I've worked at in the past. Any manager I've worked under would've comped the food because ticket times as long as ours was is embarrassing to the establishment. Or!! Offered to refire the meal and remake it for us. The customer is always right--especially when the service was this poor. She tried to say 30% off was the max she could do. We asked for half off since the food was inedible. She refused and kept trying to barter the amount with us. Still no apology for the cold food, just kept saying she was on the phone. Figure your life out, get someone to cover your tables if you have an emergency phone call, or better yet just stop seating people if you clearly cannot handle the tables you have. We left money for the drinks and went home. It is truly disappointing to see a restaurant with an extensive gluten free menu and high reviews being this poorly managed. We will never go to this restaurant, and I highly suggest anyone who's made it this far in the review to find another place to eat, too.

Yelp
For an entirely gluten free restaurant, I was pleasantly pleased. My burger and Brussels was great! The fried mushrooms were literally perfect. The rest of the meal let something to be desired (maybe it was gluten ). Ranch wasn't great and the chicken friend chicken was very bland. Service was a little slow and we had to go ask for some stuff but the servers were also really nice. Ambiance is casual but cool.

Yelp
I was so excited to find a 100% gluten free restaurant, and one that has been around for 18 years. The margarita made with mezcal and hibiscus was absolutely delicious! So good my friend had a second. We ordered the calamari as a starter. The breading was crispy and delicious, but the flesh was very chewy. The French fries were great as was the rémoulade sauce. I ordered a chicken fried steak because I could and haven't had one in years. The steak was delicious. The gravy was just okay, and had chunks of onion in it. The baked potato was just okay, but the fresh green beans with bacon were perfectly cooked and delicious. This place definitely has that "hole in the wall" kinda vibe. Lots of seating indoor and out and very friendly staff. Our waiter, after learning we were going to a show after so couldn't take a dessert to go, gave us a couple of their chocolate chip cookies. This place is definitely worth a try, even if you aren't on a gluten-free diet.

Yelp
My friend was visiting from Dallas and recently became gluten free. On her last day here we came across Wilder Wood and decided to give it a go. We sat outside and it was such an atx vibe, a little divey but surrounded by greenery. My friend and I got the shrimp diablitos to start. Actual perfection, bacon was crispy, shrimp wasn't over cooked and the Serrano piece inside was a great compliment. I got the stuffed avocado with the tinga and suiza sauce. It came with fried Brussels which were sweet and crispy (soo good) as well as black beans (these were okay). My friend got the two taco plate. She loves the pescado taco but felt the beef fajita taco was chewy. She also raved about the charro beans it came with We had a lovely server, who always came by to fill our waters and make sure we were okay. I will def be frequenting this place more since it's so close. #supportlocal

Yelp
Kicka**! Seriously, though. Dedicated gluten-free restaurants are a gem and Wilder Wood has such a unique and extensive menu! It is obvious that EVERYTHING is made from scratch -- the standouts were the homemade dipping sauces (habanero, ranch, gravy, etc.). I took all of helpful server Jake's suggestions and enjoyed jalapeño poppers then chicken fried steak with onion rings and Brussels sprouts. The sprouts are to die for. All of the batters were crispy but not greasy. Nothing was over-seasoned. Sat outside to enjoy some late-summer heat & sun. I wish we had this in Dallas! Can't wait to return!

Yelp
Very reasonable steak dinner delivered by Door dash. The steak was thoughtfully prepared; of course it wasn't quite like a steakhouse restaurant, but I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the green beans with bacon, which were very good. The loaded baked potato was great! I added beans to my order, and I don't remember the name of them; I think a pinto bean prepared ranch style. Those, were okay, but not something I would reorder. Instead I would order more green beans! If you're staying in the Austin area and looking for a quick dinner delivered to your lodgings, I think Wilder Wood is an excellent choice.

Chantel K.

Yelp
The chicken fried steak rocked my world. It's hard to find gluten free restaurants Can't wait to come back for more!

Arriel N.

Yelp
My food and experience was great at this gluten-free restaurant! We ordered a margarita, stuffed avocado, party bowl, and carrot cake. That was the best gluten-free carrot cake I've ever had! The host/waitress/runner was wonderful, she had a great spirit and made you feel very welcomed. I would very much recommend this restaurant to individuals with celiac disease. Everything is gluten-free and made from scratch in order to avoid cross contamination!

Yelp
Sort of a funky East Austin place, not particularly crowded on a Monday night, but enough diners in restaurant plus steady flow of call-ins to keep Jet busy. My wife had the cheeseburger on GF bun, said it was comparable to one she'd had earlier in our visit at Hopdoddy. I had the avocado cream chicken tinga enchiladas, which were delicious. Both her accompanying fries and my black beans and rice were only so-so. We each had a Tito's & soda and a glass of wine. We liked the place and the food; just didn't love it. Prices are quite reasonable, our tab was $70 before tip.

Frank J.

Yelp
I came to this location because I saw a large amount of great reviews and all day Monday happy hour! I enjoyed the outdoor space, but unfortunately the rooftop area was closed for whatever reason. I was not very impressed with the food. The tacos I received were cold and the brisket in my taco was very chewy and almost hard. Additionally, the rice I ordered as a side was cold and a bit crunchy as well. I'm sure they just had an off day but I wasn't in love with the meal on this occasion.

Sarah-Grace H.

Yelp
Ate here before a concert friday and I genuinely just want to travel back and eat at WW again. THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT IS GLUTEN FREE! this is not a drill! I had the chicken tenders with onion rings... life changing! Really dreamy and service was great! My sister isn't gf and had the burger it was wild to be able to try her food too and she said it was one of the best burgers she's ever had!

Rachel H.

Yelp
Had to go to the ER because I had an allergic reaction to the food here. I told them about my severe fish & shellfish allergy and the waitress promised me the Brussels sprouts would be grilled so they'd be safe for me to eat. The waitress brought out the Brussels sprouts and waited until AFTER I ate some to tell me that they were fried in the same oil as their seafood. My friend told me afterwards that she heard her mumble something like "I need to check something first" after she dropped them off at our table but if she were unsure whether or not I could eat them, she should have told me right when she placed them on our table, or checked with the chef before bringing them to us. While I was upfront about my allergies right from the beginning, this girl's negligence very nearly killed me. These guys earned 1 star because the waitress thought to call 911 for us. They also messed up my friend's order and gave her sides containing dairy when she explicitly told them she has a dairy allergy. They comped our meals but I don't feel comfortable eating anything from there. Someone dropped the ball and I'm pissed. Stay away if you have any food allergies.

Natalie M.

Yelp
I want to love this place because I know as a celiac, everything is safe for me to eat but I'm disappointed every time I go here. Service wasn't great - she was the only server there with probably 8-9 tables. The restaurant itself was dirty and dark but smelled like fabuloso... I ordered and the food was ok - lukewarm and I felt nauseous afterwards. Server dropped a large tray of glass and then brought a bucket of water/fabuloso to clean it up next to me and it smelled terrible while I was eating so I left. Highlight was the carrot cake - that was delicious. I'd go back and get that to go next time. All in all, I really hope they turn a corner but there are better places in Austin for gluten free diners.

Rachel W.

Yelp
I try my best to eat primarily gluten free and was very excited to hear about this place from a friend. I had high expectations when I came here on an empty stomach. I ordered lemon pepper wings. They were very fresh and made to order. I also got the Country Fried Chicken as an entree. My only complaint is that it could've been seasoned a little more and the gravy could've been creamier but it was satisfying. I would love to return and try more menu items as well as their desserts that they have on display. Gluten free cinnamon rolls?! Count me in.

Txasnani A.

Yelp
Gluten Free Dream. Food was super yummy. Also chips, queso and guac before our meal. Another bonus is a private parking lot.

Scott D.

Yelp
I had an amazing meal here on 3/24/2023. The tacos were amazing, and Mikayla was a great server. The true definition of a five-star experience. I will definitely stop by here again the next time I am in town.

Kent R.

Yelp
I prefer extra gluten. So i came in grumpy with low expectations. But we had a gluten-free family member in town so gave Wilder Wood a spin. I was completely wrong and 100% all-in on Wilder Wood. Food was excellent with no compromise. We feasted on burger, tacos, fried catfish, fries, fried calamari. Who knew!!! What truly made this visit 5 Star was Jake our wait staff. In fact he was the only wait staff, bar tender, host and everything else. We had 6 adults, 2 littles and a baby. Not an easy draw for Jake. But he was amazing and truly made the overall visit 6 Star. I still wish they had an "extra gluten" menu, but we will 110% be back and be recommending to our friends. .

Tayo F.

Yelp
Great proportions here. They brought out the food and none of us could finish it, though not for lack of trying. The view is pretty dope from outside when the temperature is nice and we got our food pretty quickly. All in all, a good experience

Yelp
A Terrifying Experience - Wilder Wood Restaurant & Bar! I wish I could give ZERO stars. I recently had the most unfortunate dining experience at Wilder Wood Restaurant & Bar that left me in utter disbelief and, more alarmingly, in the emergency room. As someone with a severe shellfish allergy, I take every precaution to avoid any potential exposure. Unfortunately, this restaurant demonstrated a complete lack of regard for their patrons' well-being, causing me immense physical harm and distress. Upon arriving at Wilder Wood Restaurant & Bar, I explicitly informed the waiter about my shellfish allergy and requested a dish that was entirely free from any shellfish ingredients. The waiter assured me that they would take the necessary precautions to accommodate my dietary needs. Trusting their expertise, I proceeded with placing my order. However, to my horror, after a few bites into my supposedly safe meal, I felt an immediate and unmistakable reaction. My throat began to tighten, my skin flushed, and I struggled to breathe. It was clear that I had ingested shellfish, despite all the precautions I had taken and the assurances given to me by the staff. The situation quickly escalated, and I was fortunate enough to have an EpiPen on hand. I administered it promptly, but the severity of my reaction necessitated immediate medical attention. I was rushed to the emergency room, where I received further treatment to stabilize my condition. Apart from the physical ordeal, the psychological impact of such an incident cannot be understated. The fear, panic, and vulnerability I experienced during the allergic reaction and subsequent hospitalization were traumatizing. This incident has shattered my confidence in dining out, especially at establishments that fail to prioritize their customers' safety. It is evident that the staff at Wilder Wood Restaurant & Bar either lacks proper training or, worse yet, simply disregards the seriousness of food allergies. Any reputable establishment should take allergies seriously and ensure rigorous cross-contamination protocols are in place to protect their customers. It is utterly unacceptable and grossly negligent that they failed to prevent such a severe allergic reaction from occurring. To make matters worse, the restaurant demonstrated a severe lack of accountability and compassion. Following the incident, they failed to provide any form of follow-up or apology for their egregious mistake. It is disheartening to think that they prioritize their reputation and convenience over the well-being and safety of their customers. In light of my traumatic experience and the restaurant's complete disregard for customer safety, I strongly advise anyone with food allergies, especially those allergic to shellfish, to steer clear of Wilder Wood Restaurant & Bar. Your health and safety should never be compromised for the sake of a meal. I sincerely hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale to others and encourages Wilder Wood Restaurant & Bar to reevaluate their practices, implement robust allergy protocols, and show genuine concern for their patrons' well-being.

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Cold food, long wait, poor service, no acceptance or apology of how bad the service was. Watched others get their food and pay and leave before we even got our food.(after asking multiple times the bartender actually brought our order out) It sat in the kitchen for an hour at least and our waitress who was the manager was no where to be found. Oh wait they found her...upstairs on the phone! Ugh bad experience. Won't go back. Could be a one time thing but proceed with caution.

Natalie L.

Yelp
Worst experience ever. Please don't even consider coming here. After over an hour and a half waiting on our food and checking with staff multiple times our food came out cold. I'm sure it was sitting back there for a full hour. When we asked to speak to the manager we were told they couldn't find her, then we were told she was on the phone upstairs, when she finally came to our table she didn't apologize, or offer any sort of solution. We had been there hours and had cold bland food. We thought maybe we would take it home to go and reheat but we were concerned about how long it was probably sitting in the kitchen. Please don't waste your time or money here.

Kelsey D.

Yelp
I was really excited to try Wilder Wood when visiting Austin because I could eat anything on the menu. I got the chicken tenders with french fries and a side of onion rings. I hadn't had onion rings or chicken tenders in a very long time and both were good. The amount of chicken was a little on the smaller end for serving size. The service was a little slow and drinks weren't refilled often. You order and pay from an app there wasn't a ton of interaction with the waiter. I got a chocolate muffin for dessert to go and that was really good.

Jessica W.

Yelp
Food is excellent. I eat there whenever I visit Austin. Not fancy at all, but all the foods celiacs cannot usually eat unless we make it ourselves. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart.

Lindsey R.

Yelp
I had high hopes trying this place out. It boasted lots of gluten free options & some vegetarian & pescatarian items. When I got there the place was a mess & the one FOH employee was struggling to do literally everything for many UT football fans who had left the game. The lone employee was doing the absolute most she could & was very apologetic. I felt so bad & wanted to help (SI employees unite lol) but obviously she couldn't let me jump behind the bar. She got that 3rd star & it would be 5 if this was rating her as a server/food runner/bartender. The food was meh & they were out of a lot of things. The ordering situation was terrible (an app that wasn't updated & screwed up the payment, etc etc.). Our food took quite a while bc there was also only one person in BOH. A 50 seat restaurant on a football Saturday with only 2 ppl working?! Nuts I say! But, I know how it is & have been in similar situations at work myself. So, definitely gave a lot of grace & practiced patience. A manager showed up guns a'blazing & jumped in to help on her day off. She was positive & fast. The employee was very happy & thankful to see her. Basically it seems to be on the owner. Lots of things need some TLC & there's so much more that place could be. (There's a forgotten rooftop bar! Hi can I plz open a concept up there?!) I reeeaaalllllyyy hope it's just a little rut they'll climb out of- I mean a gluten free restaurant with some classic American comfort food is a nice addition to Austin's restaurant scene for ppl with allergies/intolerances! They just need to re-execute, spruce things up a bit, work out some kinks & support their staff better. I know it's easier said than done. I'll give it another chance for sure.

Jackie C.

Yelp
As a Celiac, I was excited to order from their exclusive gluten-free menu. I placed my order through GrubHub. I placed my order before 5 pm. An hour later I reached out to my driver who said the holdup was with Wilder Wood because they didn't have the food ready and told him to wait 35-40 minutes. I called the restaurant and was told by the woman who answered that they had not noticed my order until the driver appeared. I was reassured that it would arrive hot. Nearly two hours later, the food arrived. My nachos were one big glob, with soggy tortilla chips. The burger/fries were cold. The enchiladas were also. I tried to call to speak with the manager, but the automatic response is " the voicemail has not been set up yet." This was the first and last time I order from them. Spending $80 would have been worth it if the food arrived hot and the customer service and experience were excellent. It was neither.

Jana B.

Yelp
We joined a friend here for dinner last night and found it to be a great spot for dinner and conversation. We started with the onion rings which were obviously homemade and were tasty. My friend and I had the avocado cream enchiladas with chicken tinga served with rice and beans. I really enjoyed the creamy sauce over the chicken filling - this is a must try. My husband ordered the crispy Camaron taco and the chicken tinga taco. He said both were good but the chicken tinga had more flavor. The Old Fashioned, the house Chardonnay and the house margarita (try this!) were all satisfying. They weren't serving the French 75 (which is gin and champagne - not sure why). Good parking is available right outside the restaurant. Next time I'll bring my gluten free daughter as the whole menu is gluten free!

Victoria B.

Yelp
I met my New Braunfels friend for a late lunch. What better place for a gluten-intolerant out-of-towner than a place that has been gluten-free for 19 years? I was disappointed that she ordered a salad. I wanted to sample one of the many deep fried offerings (because they are hard to make delicious), but her adult daughter had done the cooking for the last 5 days. Our server recommended the lime ginger dressing. WOW! Winner, winner! The Wild Salad was absolutely gorgeous and terrific (I added tilapia). I was sorry that I forgot to photograph: beautiful, immaculately fresh, and a lovely variety of greens and fruits. Friend ordered a side of the rice pilaf. That was a disappointment. Described as white rice with bits of carrot (and cilantro? I wasn't listening well enough), there was no color, very little flavor, and 2 tiny bits of carrot. That lost them a star, but if you are seeking gluten-free (or just want good food with real brewed iced tea), you can't do better than Wilder Wood!

Anna M.

Yelp
One of Austin's hidden gems for GF folks (especially Celiacs-- the kitchen is 100% dedicated gluten-free). Delicious flavorful food, cute chill ambiance, and good attentive service. Will definitely come again when I'm back in town!

Bob K.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Austin - Tinga and brisket tacos, enchiladas, chicken fried steak and chicken, burgers, onion rings - and somehow all gluten-free and celiac safe. Bravo! The service from Jake and staff was outstanding.

Lauren M.

Yelp
LOVE this GF restaurant! We have only done takeout due to CoVid but they have a large patio at their restaurant. The chicken fried steak is amazing! The picture doesn't do it justice but it is big. When I am craving chicken fried steak, this is my go to place. My kids love their chicken tenders, which is a bonus for me if there are any leftovers because I can eat them. My husband has also tried many of their tacos. He liked them but always tries to snag a few bites of my CFS.

Lee G.

Yelp
My wife is gluten free, and this restaurant is one of the first in quite a while to be sensitive it. Of course everything they do is gluten free, Wife had fried chicken which she has not been able to order for years and she loved it and was thankful. I had some em Hoya d they were pretty solid also. Restaurant does look a wee bit older, weathered you could say, but it did not affect the qualities of the food. Music playlist was really good too, caters a bit to the indie music vibe. Great experience overall.

Amber G.

Yelp
Having an entirely gluten free restaurant that has excellent food is fantastic! I recently became gluten free and it is such a relief to find a kitchen that fits my dietary needs. My husband and friends (who are NOT gluten free) enjoyed the food as well. Even if you do not have gluten sensitivities, Wilder Wood is definitely worth the visit.

Erin S.

Yelp
So happy that we finally made it here! Loved the gluten free options, and absolutely everything was delicious. Highly recommend the avocado creme enchiladas and the buffalo chicken sandwich. Plus, our waitress Jo was so lovely and took such great care of us! We really appreciated the covered patio and the great cross-breeze we got on this hot Texas day

Clay G.

Yelp
Let me begin by saying that this was without a doubt among the finest chicken fried steaks I've ever had, and it was gluten free. The enchiladas had a fantastic flavor. You always score a plus if you don't use velveta with me, and the queso was great. The atmosphere was excellent, but because this is a scratch kitchen, don't anticipate receiving your food quickly, especially if it's busy. Although we arrived just before things became hectic, we still had to wait for the dinner for about 30 minutes. Outstanding cuisine. This is the best gluten-free meals in the Austin region.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for a late dinner and I am sooo happy we did. I have celiac disease so finding gluten free spots is so fun and awesome for me. And what I loved about this place is that it still feels like a "normal" restaurant if you know what I'm trying to say! The staff was super friendly and I could get anything off the entire menu so we ordered onion rings and I got a hamburger and fries and my husband got the Buffalo chicken burger. We were both very impressed and ended up taking a piece of carrot cake home too! (It was very moist and yummy.) We will certainly be going back here and if you need a gluten free place to eat- I highly suggest it!

Yelp
Super friendly service and great gluten free menu! Our son has an a wheat allergy and we so appreciate having places like this where he can have almost anything on the menu!

Yelp
100% gf safe spot with tons of comfort food options I miss from before celiac diagnosis. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I love this place! I only recently discovered my gluten allergy, so that is the reason why I wanted to try this place out. However, that is NOT the sole reason, I will come back. None of the food tasted like it was missing a thing! My friend felt the exact same way, and she has zero food allergies/sensitivities. We both really enjoyed our food, and our server was great. Sitting outside on the patio was nice, too. Thoroughly enjoyed food items, as shown in the photo: Sizzling chicken fajitas and veg, fresh guacamole, cheddar cheese, sour cream, homemade? corn tortillas, margarita on the rocks with salt, pico de gallo (not pictured here) Across the table: Brussel sprouts and shrimp Diablitos, Mexican martini

Yelp
There is simply nothing else like it in Austin. My wife and I have never left here unsatisfied. She is a Chicken-Fried Steak devotee, but you can't beat the gluten-free onion rings, Calamari, fried mushrooms, wings... What's not to love? And such great waitstaff who seem to love their customers. Love this place!

Yelp
Phenomenal restaurant with 100% Gluten Free menu. The safest place for celiacs and super tasty!!! My go to in Austin!!

Yelp
It's amazing that this place is 100% gluten free - you'd never know it bc everything is so good. The calamari and onion rings are lightly battered and tasty and the fried chicken is generously sized and delicious. The gravy tasted like buttery heaven. The fries, tho, were underwhelming. The covered deck is peaceful and cool even on a hot day. And Jay the manager was also our server and did a good job.

Yelp
My goodness! If you are looking for gluten-free, then this is your place. Its good for us regular folks too! My favorite was probably the bacon wrapped shrimp! Mimosas are $3/ glass or $15/carafe and brunch all day on sunday(for sure) Also dog friendly!

Yelp
If Wilder Wood is closed, I'm heartbroken. Austin lost its only source for gluten free onion rings that rival the non-GF rings from other restaurants.

Yelp
Super quaint place to grab a delicious gluten free meal! I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and onion rings and it was delicious. It is always fun to have gluten free versions of some of the foods I miss most since discovering a gluten allergy. The only thing keeping me from giving this place 5 starts is the food wasn't super hot when it came to the table but was still an overall great experience! Would definitely return here.

Yelp
Not good and way overpriced. Chicken and waffles was $18 for a waffle you'd get from a hotel's continental breakfast and a disappointing, poorly seasoned chicken steak. The fruit salad it came with looked super old. The apples were mealy. The meal itself was small too. The coffee was pretty bitter. I didn't enjoy it. It looked like the waiters were stretched pretty thin. We had to grab our own silverware and ask for sauces/maple syrup.

Yelp
I've been exclusively gluten-free for the past 12 years, and it's an incredible treat to come to Wilder Wood, where I can get the best onion rings I've ever had, chicken fried steak that is as good as any chicken fried steak you will ever eat, and cinnamon rolls, French toast, and anything else that you can imagine that you would commonly find at other restaurants gluten-free and in my case corn-free (because I also have a corn sensitivity). The manager Jillian is fantastic, very accommodating, open to feedback, and willing to do her all to make sure that you have an amazing experience. I cannot recommend this place enough, and it has become one of my go-to spots in Austin every time I'm in town. If you are gluten-free, trying to reduce the gluten in your diet, or even just committed to living healthier-- give this place a try!

Yelp
Everything was SOOOO good! It's such a special treat for folks who can't have gluten to be able to come to a restaurant and have a whole menu to choose from. The food is not only great for GF folks...it's just good all around! My husband is not GF and he liked it as well when we came together! Taking baked goods to go, and the gentleman who served me today, Jake, was super friendly! 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
Woah. Effortlessly terrible. I truly feel awful for the server, who appeared to have the entire restaurant and bar. I wouldn't have been surprised if he was cooking the food too, given the amount of time that lapsed between visiting the outdoor patio with 6ish tables. He didn't do a great job, but it also seemed like he didn't have the tools necessary to do so. If I had 12 tables and was also the bartender, I would have used words like "I'm alone today, please exercise patience and don't hesitate to flag me down if you need my attention". He didn't seem to have any sense of urgency or be concerned with his lack of service, accuracy or presence. This is management's fault. This isn't my first time here, although several years have lapsed since the first. Bottom line... the restaurant would benefit from counter ordering. The food was not terribly warm, tasted ok, but wouldn't be back for the food. I let him know of an allergy and still ended up delivering a condiment with the first ingredient being my allergy. The drinks were *awful*. The margs, the "cornerstone of our cocktail program", were not good. The Paloma was... def not a paloma. He clearly shouldn't be working the bar. I don't feel great leaving this review, but there was no MOD and tbh the kid was doing his best. We are all in service, we could see that the poor kid was flailing. We considered delivering waters, at least to help him out. Several people got their own waters, walked out and one dude even went to the kitchen to find his food, which was incidentally cold upon retrieval. This is how walked tabs happen, people. Who let these folks have a whole restaurant? They need to be on that terrible show Bar Rescue. They'd be in for a doozie!!! I'd watch it!
