Little Mombo is a fantastic camp that gives you modern day luxury with thoughful rooms that are luxurious and like nothing I have ever stayed in before. ||Wilderness is a fantastic company that prides itself on sustainability and uplifting the communities it works with in Botswana and throughout Africa. ||We stayed in Little Mombo the more boutique offering of the two camps. Our room was beyond luxury with a cooper bathtub, a plunge pool, a separate toilet, a sitting room, and two rainfall showers. This was all in what is a tent. Amazing and fantastic.||The game viewing was exception and our guide Moss was a great ambassador and educator for us, teaching us about this part of the Okavango Delta. The area is more dry at this time of the year and we saw lions, leopards as well as the African Wild Dog of which no more than 4000 exist in the wild. We also saw hundreds of African Buffalo one of the Big 5.||The staff is exception from the manager OT , to Theron, to the barman MK, who was a terrific mixologist. The food was wonderful with a thoughtful menu and a fantastic Boma night with the best family style dinner I have ever had a great presentation from the camp choir. ||We used the spa and loved the massage and facial services. This is an impressive camp and I can't wait to go back.

Mombo has been on my radar for many years, and appropriately so. The game viewing, starting from the deck outside your room, and throughout the Moremi Game Reserve was excellent. A lot (not just a few) of animals, and quite varied. Over the course of our 4 night stay, we saw large herds of elephants, buffalo, zebras, as well as two packs of wild dogs, five separate male lions, including the two dominant males with their incredible Kalahari manes, packs of hyenas--who had stolen a kill from the wild dogs--two leopards, a python, and of course many giraffes, warthogs and a variety of antelope and birds. Our guide, Zee, was personable and a very knowledgeable tracker, and by working with other guides via radio, he enabled us to get to some unique sightings, such as the male lions swimming across the river (--I like the fact that Mombo limits to three the number of safari vehicles in a particular location, so that unlike some places like Sabi Sands, there isn't a rush of 15 vehicles to every lion sighting, and you can actually get an animal photo without another vehicle in the background). As with many camps, your guide (or someone covering for the guide) walks you to and from your room in darkness, and it was definitely beneficial in Mombo as they have buffalo and elephants come right into camp (--rooms are all connected via an elevated wood board walkway). The food was lovely, and the service was uniformly excellent--we particularly appreciated that the kitchen was willing to make us the equivalent of their Boma dinner since we weren't there on a Monday night, which is when they hold the Boma dinners--it was a great meal of local cuisine. They have a wood burning pizza oven, which made for a unique treat. The bar staff and housekeeping manager were all excellent and attentive to details, such as remembering your wine or cocktail preferences. Mombo set up a beautiful lunch for us on the savannah the day before we left, which we enjoyed with our vehicle mates while watching zebras and impala grazing just a 100 feet away. In May, we found it quite cold in the mornings which start with 5:30 a.m. wake-up (layer and bring a parka, hat, and gloves), and quite warm during the day (though nothing the fan above the bed couldn't address). They provide insect spray, which I used, along with my own Deet and Off wipes, as well as calf-high socks treated with insect repellent, and I still came home with dozens of insect bites on my ankles (--I suspect those occurred during sundowners). Mombo has a well deserved reputation for excellence, and it is highly recommended as one of the best safari camps I've been to (--the South African Singita lodges are in the same class).

Mombo Camp is the peak of luxury safari camps. It is small and intimate overlooking the Delta on Chief's Island. Every detail has been meticulously thought out and executed. The interiors are stunning - this can hardly be considered a camp. Each tent has a large deck with ample seating and plunge pool. Baboons enjoyed the shade of our deck while we watched warthogs and buffalo browse by our tent. The rooms are large and comfortable. Chef Tonde and his team created amazing meals throughout our stay - again it is remarkable what they could accomplish given the remote location. The pizza is delicious! The people at Mombo are what make this place so special. Our guest experience's manager Jimmy was the absolute best. Of course he was a wealth of knowledge about the camp, he was so much fun to chat with throughout our stay. Our guide Ollie was outstanding - his knowledge of the animals, the area, tracking skills, etc. were top notch. We thoroughly enjoyed our three days with him. This is one of best parts of the Wilderness camps - your guide will be the same guide you have throughout your stay - they learn your preferences, how you like to spent your time, and tailor the game drives for you. If you are traveling as a couple or small group, you can request a private jeep (I believe there is an additional cost). We shared a jeep with another couple which worked fine for us. The main predators can be found on Chief's Island and we had outstanding leopard viewing. You stop for sundowners each night on your way back to camp. Mombo has other offerings like scenic helicopter flights which I highly recommend. Manager BB and his team do an outstanding job and everything runs like clockwork, including the internal flights. They truly take care of your every need and go out of their way to make your stay special. In addition to Ollie, Jimmy, Tonde, and BB, Karyn, KB, KT, Zee, and Itu made our stay at Mombo exceptional. Thank you all for such a memorable trip! We cannot recommend Mombo Camp highly enough.

If you are considering a Safari holiday, the Okavango Delta in Botswana will provide you with a great safari experience! While there are never any guarantees that you will see all the animals on your list (they are wild animals, after all!) the staff at Little Mombo will do their very best to ensure that you get the most of your safari. Our guide, Ant, working in constant communication with the other guides, was able to find: lionesses with their cubs, a leopard with her cubs, a cheetah with her cubs, a male leopard, zebras, giraffes, elephants, hyenas, jackals, African wild dogs, buffalo, and of course, the ubiquitous baboons, warthogs and impala. We even saw owls! The camp can arrange helicopter tours as well, which are well worth it; the arial view of the Delta is incredible! In addition to the animals we saw on land, we were able to see hippos and elephants frolicking in the water of the Delta along with several crocodiles – the only way to see crocs, if you ask me! We were there in May, as the waters were coming into the Delta after the rainy season, which definitely helps draw animals into the Delta.||||The camp itself is beautiful. Our room was spacious, complete with all the necessary amenities and a beautiful deck where you could sit and watch the animals roam their natural environment.||||The staff is amazing! Jess, the manager, is bright, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and caring. Ant is, quite simply, a top-notch guide. In terms of food and drink, the beverage manager, Ruby, is an artist with her creations and the chef, Kemo, was fantastic!!! The menu had an excellent variety and flexibility and, in our opinion, is worth a Michelin star.||||The entire staff is customer focused and willing to help with any and all requests. If we have the opportunity to visit Botswana again, we will definitely stay at Little Mombo!

Mombo camp is flawlessly run by a team of amazing, talented staff who make every guest feel special with no needs unattended. The lodgings and food make for a very luxurious stay in the bush- don't miss the Monday boma parties as that is a definite highlight!||||I enjoyed game drives with Ant, a highly experienced guide with extensive knowledge of the area, wildlife and animal interactions There is wi-fi in the tents and I enjoyed reading the Mombo book in the beautiful lounge area withinthe tent suite from back to back to learn about Mombo's amazing history and stories. I would say that this piece of heaven on earth is definitely worth the visit!

Mombo was our favorite of the three Wilderness camps that we stayed at. The sheer level of animals in the area is simply astounding. Even during meals, a wildlife panorama is happening right in front of you. Add to this exemplary levels of service and delicious food and you have an unbeatable combination. Mombo is simply incredibly impressive and I will return.

This was our second Camp (of 4) on our first safari. It was a bucket list item for my wife, so I wanted to make it special. Wilderness Safari, Mombo and the other camps did not disappoint. ||||Firstly Wilderness Safari is a world class company. They hire the best from the community/county. Have an extensive internship and mentorship program to develop their team, appear to pay them well and have excellent benefits. Many of the leaders are also exceptional women which was wonderful to see.||||This shows up in the quality of service and authentic hospitality and hearts of the staff. They also pour into the local communities. While expensive, the experience was worth it and satisfying to know the money is also used to grow and support the wonderful men, women and communities of Botswana. ||||This is the flagship camp for Wilderness and the reputation was well deserved.||A few items that stood out for us were; 1) The rooms/facility was amazing while preserving the local genre, 2) the concentration and abundance of animals was exceptional, 3) the rooms all faced an expansive flooded field that was visually stunning with an abundance of animals and 4) they had the countries first sommelier who was wonderful and had some of the best wines South Africa has to offer which we loved.||||Thanks again to the staff for the wonderful experience and memories ... Dana and Joyce.
