Overall, this is a great place and something we really needed downtown since it has not only a bar and tap room but is also, mostly, a nice liquor store, more or less like a small Bottle Barn. Five stars may arguably be a tad too much, but 4 seems a tad to low, 4.5 being best. I therefore rounded it up to 5.
After Bottle Barn, it is clearly the best liquor store, i.e., high-end wine-beer-spirit store, in Sonoma County. I suspect that this is true of the other branch in Petaluma, of which I had heard many good things and which seems essentially the same as this, but which I had not ever gotten to. (I note that Beercraft in Rohnert Park is also good, but only for beer and not as good as this place due to the lack of good imports and lopsided focus on just west coast craft beer.)
The place is much smaller than Bottle Barn so overall the selection is more limited, especially when it comes to spirits and wine. They in particular lack any consistent selection of certain things such as Pisco. However, while the selection is smaller, what they do have is generally of good quality with harder-to-find examples. Their beer selection also is pretty close to Bottle Barn, with the emphasis being on the better-quality or more obscure items and less of the standard stuff.
They have a good range of cheeses, crackers, cocktail items, etc.
Prices are overall good. Generally prices are not quite as good as Bottle Barn but some are comparable and prices are better than Beverages & More.
The staff are eager and helpful and they all seem to have at least some good knowledge of at least one type of product. Some of them really know a lot, too.
The tasting-room/bar is nice with a good rotating selection of beers and wines. They also have a limited menu of food. Choices are few but what we have had is great, especially for a simple, light snack to go with the beer or wine, which is the main focus.
