11 Hot New Dining Destinations in Downtown Santa Rosa | Eater SF

"A liquor store to make F. Scott Fitzgerald weep in deep dipsomania. With a sister store in Petaluma, Willibees has everything good and grape-like to drink, as well as a staffed deli and a wine and beer bar with sit-down service. Unusual selections in the cold case make this a great run-in-and-grab-a-bottle spot but the bar welcomes a longer stay." - Gretchen Giles

Google
Awesome place. Great variety of wine and spirits. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Spent some time and money here and when we come back, we will stop here again. Thank you guys!!! This stop helped make my Birthday trip a real success.

Google
Love this place for multiple reasons. They are a great wine and spirits shop and rotate new items regularly. They also have a bar with many beers and wines on tap, also usually a cider. They have the perfect little bar menu, flat breads go great with your beverage of choice. I got the Sauvignon blanc wine flight for $15. Bartenders are always very friendly and give you a taste of you ask. Thanks!

Google
Great spot for beer or wine and of course food! Nice people, great service! We ordered the 3 cheese plate and you get to select your cheeses. Great value and delicious!

Google
This lil Market is mighty with selection. I wanna complement the amazing staff for welcoming me and the fresh tasting sandwich. A good space for a quiet place to snack 😋.

Google

Google
Wilibees is always a great place to stop. Best value sandwich in DTWN. Plus more food and a fantastic beer selection, to say nothing of the wine list. Don't miss Happy Hour! This where I buy my favorite Rum.

Nancy Hayssen

Google
Great place to buy a variety of wine and spirits. Also has deli sandwiches and Happy Hour.

Google
My favorite happy hour place. The staff is amazing. A great place to meet friends and the crowd is there for quality. Not quantity. Also wonderful snack good to go with drinks. Their selection and prices are the best.

Yelp
Deli had some great sandwiches! I came back again, and will again. It may not look like it, but it has some of the best sandwiches I have had in a while. The store is beautiful with an amazing selection of whiskies and wines. They also sell cigars!

Yelp
I have driven past this place for a long time but finally went in. What a downtown gem for sure. Huge collection of wine and spirits plus a fabulous deli as well. Will be back for sure as loved the vibe and you can grab a deli delight and then sit inside and eat as well. They do tastings from time to time to cap things off. Oh, and the owners, they are lovely.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place for wine, liquor, and beer. They also have a deli and bar inside!! Wide selection.

Yelp
This place is so wonderful. Local and highly knowledgeable, all the recommendations from friendly staff have been yummy and matched their description. I even came by in hopes of finding birthday candles to save me a trip. Two employees dug through supplies until they found some! Incredibly sweet and chill place to hang.

Yelp
Great spot for after work drinks or bottles to go. I don't spend must time in downtown Santa Rosa as the restaurants and shops don't attract my attention however, I was going to meet a group of friends at the running store next door for an event and I suggested we try the tap room inside as I had visited once before for a special wine maker's tasting event. When we walked in we were greeted by the friendly bar staff and invited to have a seat. We were pleasantly surprised by the extensive list of wines by the glass, beers on tap. Best of all, the prices are lower than the typical bar as the goal is to encourage you to try new items and maybe even purchase to take home. In addition, the shop has a wide variety of chilled items and an extensive inventory or spirits which rivals the competitors; watch out BevMo! The prices are reasonable and if you're in the area definitely worth stopping in.

Rusty S.

Yelp
Small selection, slightly overpriced and not the most remarkable service. It's whatever, you'd be better off at BevMo to be fair. Not just price wise.

Yelp
I have been here twice now to buy sandwhiches. The sandwhiches are lovely. I love the mom and pop feel to this location and they have a variety of wines , spirits, beers and other goodies. The one thing that makes me sad is that I haven't gotten a chance to drink at this location due to covid so it's definitely something to look forward to. A go to stop for sure for sure

Yelp
Think of this place like Bottle barns little brother with a bar and food. Happy hour from Monday through Friday 4-7 PM, & all weekend from 12-6 PM. Happy hour offers a few of their tab beers and wines 3-4 at a few dollars off. I have found the staff very friendly and informative. There is a deli on site and they have a limited food selection. I find the wine flights as a good value, 3 2oz pours for $10, good deal. Not only do you get to taste great wines, but you also help support a local business. The wines you taste are available for purchase on the liquor store side. Unfortunatly that is not always the case with their tap beers, as in they may not have cans/bottls of the offered tap beers for sale.

Yelp
A great well stocked store with local wines and spirits. It's beer and wine bar is great and it's deli sandwiches are outstanding.

Yelp
Hidden little gem we found! Stopped in to look around and ended up speaking to Zack behind the bar. He recommended a couple beers, probably two of the best beers I've had in a long time. If you are in the area, this is a must!
google avatar

Kadi M.

Yelp
Love this place. It's our new pre-movie stop. They always have a unique choice of drinks, plus don't like what you see?...grab something from the store and drink it at the bar! Come on that's a win win!!! Plus the staff and always interactive and fun, it has a familial feel to it. Love people watching in there too

Yelp
Hidden gem! Absolutely love this place. Great selections, wonderful service & good sandwiches.

Yelp
Wow - this place has been open for about a year+ and I just found it and what a find it is. I immediately walked back to the bar area and found Jay tending the huge selection of wine and beer taps. I'm ballparking but think there are 20+ wines by the glass being offered and 14+ unique beers available on draught!! Paradise. Enjoyed some great conversation with Jay and Robert (Tender's of the Bar) and a cool customer named Kelley. I had a Blast and it was exactly what I was looking for that Friday evening. Good drinks, conversation, in a classy and friendly place. This night there was also a scotch whiskey tasting - Aberlour - 3 ages and all interesting and quite good for my liking. They do different tastings every weekend!! It's a nice wine, beer, spirits retail shop something like you find easily in San Francisco. There are so many big box alcohol shops I missed these where there is real customer service and knowledge. While I like Bevmo how can one man taste and accurately score 20,000 wines, beers, and spirits = He can't. So I spoke to Greg, the wine buyer, he looked familiar and was very accommodating for what I was looking for a GSM style wine either domestic (Calif) or French Rhone region. He presented a few wines, one that I purchased was called Reckoning $28 with more of a field blend of grapes and it was delicious - good fruit, low tannin, velvety palate, with complexities. Not a simple wine and also not too big for my guests to enjoy it. Great Find!! I also bought a Cotes du Rhone which I haven't tasted yet but sounds delicious. Stop into Buy - and have 1 or 2 while you're making your decision.

Yelp
My son told me I needed to go here so I did! Lol I have been driving past this place for quite a while. I thought it was just another liquor store ahhh but noooo! You can do a full on tastings of wine and beer . You can grab a bottle on your way home and a my hubby says the cigar selection is fantastic. The store is large and has a large selection of everything as well as very competitive prices, so you don't feel like you have to drive clear across town to get a good price. And if you want to do a happy hour grab some friends like I did drink a little snack a little, they have food! Flat bread pizzas pretzels and cheese and Charcuterie. Olives almonds and grilled cheese, The service was friendly and they even had live music everyone seemed to enjoy it I will definitely be back for all the reasons I just Mentioned Cheers SYOY

Yelp
There is a lot to offer at this downtown spot. Wine and beer purchases, bar with a decent sized area with several tables, a deli with gourmet sandwiches, gourmet chocolates, and a variety of single cold drinks for purchase. I have purchased food here several times. The sandwiches are great! Unique ingredients place this spot in a class of their own (e.g. arugula, goat cheese, gourmet baguette bread, balsamic glaze). They also have flatbreads and salads. Yummy! They have a huge variety of beer and wine for purchase. The owners are usually there, which is a nice added perk, in case you need special attention. They are both very friendly guys. I want to help this local spot succeed. I love to shop local and help small businesses. Stop on by and give this spot a chance!

Yelp
Owned by the Willibees liquor store in Petaluma. This outlet is located downtown Santa Rosa at 3rd street and D street. It's 2,000 square feet of well displayed wines, spirits and some high end charcuterie that you will not find in Safeway. 150 beers in the display fridge. Also a decent walk-in cigar humidor with the better labels. There's a wine & beer tasting bar. Capacity is 10 stools at the counter and 8 tables with seats. There's 30 wines on tap. You can also pick any wine from the store shelves and for $5 corkage, drink it up. There's a dozen beers on tap. Also, all the can & bottle beers in the fridge will be available to drink on-site. There's light small plate dishes of food on the menu. See the photos I've attached, it's the January 2016 menu. I met the owner and his staff. Great people! Friendly, informative and they aim to please. The owners said to me that they realize there are plenty of eateries and bars on 4th street that cater to a younger crowd. Willibees will focus on the downtown older business folks who will come in after work for decompression time. Let's all come for a visit and have some fun!

Yelp
After a day of casual wine tasting we wanted to keep the tasting going so we started a search for wine bars. We found that most were also restaurants with the exception of Wilibees Wines and Spirits which is not only a wine bar but a well appointed liquor store. Perfect, let's go. Upon arrival, from the street Wilibbes looks like only a liquor store but don't be fooled, there's be to be drunk. When heading in just bear to the right and they'll be waiting for you. Wilibees features wines from all over the world as well as a nice selection of craft beers if wine isn't your thing at the moment. There is also a small bites menu with nuts, olives and nibbles to go with your refreshment. Choosing a couple of seats at the bar we immediately felt like we were in excellent hands. We asked our bartender to drive and boy were we happy with what she chose for us. She also let us taste a few wines that she felt were of interest. Good thing, because I ended up with a glass of merlot that I probably wouldn't have ever order. So feel free to let go and allow the staff to recommend and choose wines based on a few questions they'll ask. If you don't want to commit to a whole glass, they offer smaller pours as well as flights. I felt there was good value in the flights, 3 2oz pours for $10, what a bargain. Not only do you get to taste great wines, but you also help support a local business. The wines you taste are available for purchase on the liquor store side. Wine-win! Next time we're in Santa Rose, I know where I'll be before dinner.

Yelp
Whoa wwhoa.. has this place always been here? I think it has, I walk by it almost everyday but while at work, I obviously don't have much need for a wine and spirits store. Now I've come for a sandwich and had a seat at the bar. The impressive set up to allow more wine tasting is not bad, I did however get a bad bottle that was quickly replaced. I'm not sure if this had anything to do with how long it was open for, or the gas set up to tap and keep the bottles fresh. The sandwich bar had a great selection of specialty picks, but you could create one there as well. There is a loyalty card and a paper slip to fill out your choice so you aren't left screaming over the glass. A rack of chips sits in front where you can grab and go after hitting the register on your way out. Let's not forget the booze though.. this place does not disappoint if you are just looking to get loaded at home, or bring a nice bottle to a dinner party!
google avatar

Yelp
The rewards program is a joke. If I go there 3 times in a week, I'm asked maybe 1 time for my phone number. Then when I'm finally asked, I'm told "Hey you have a free sandwich coming next time you come in." I think that's great and imagine how many sandwiches I could have if they regularly asked for my information at the register. I finally call in a couple of sandwiches to pick up after work and surprise, surprise, when I go up to the register I'm told "We're sorry, the POS system isn't working well enough today to check rewards balances." This isn't OK. You've lost a long time and loyal customer. I wonder if the POS is working at your competition? Don't roll out a B.S. "loyalty program" if the end result is going to be screwing over customers.

Yelp
Excellent selection of whatever it is you are looking for. Whether is is wine, liquor, beer or mixers. Truly knowledgeable and friendly staff. Try to stop by whenever I am looking for something new. The selection is worth the time of stopping by and just browsing.

Yelp
Nice wine shop with a great bar and great snacks. We've tried a variety of different wines and took a few bottles home. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Yelp
So I am back in California. Sadly it's just for a three month stint working on a special assignment on the Sonoma/Napa wine industry post fires of 2017. Be on the lookout for my article in late March 2019 (yep, shameless plug). Any whoooooo, I recently discovered a cute little wine/spirit/deli shop in downtown Santa Rosa. They have a nice selection of local wine and beer as well as a nicely rounded out spirit selection. I stopped in a few weeks back and picked up a bottle of Cointreau for my Airbnb which came in a nice gift box that included a Cointreau branded juicer. It was very cute. So tomorrow I have been invited to a Christmas party and thought that same gift set would make for a nice hostess gift. I just stopped in this afternoon and it appeared that Wilibees was out of the set. Oh well, I will just pick up a bottle of Cointreau and check the accessory section for another juicer. I was happy to see they had several bottles of Cointreau, so I excitedly wandered over to the juicer section and found plenty of juicers. BUT! The juicers seemed rather familiar. Infact, they looked much like the juicer that came in the Cointreau boxed set. And they all had price tags attached! Ok, something is stinky in Fishytown. On closer inspection, the juicers have the Cointreau brand right on the jar! Fishytown just turned into Tackytown. So "Tacky" I put the bottle of Cointreau back on the shelf and headed to Bevmo where they had the exact same holiday boxed set with the very same juicer (all for the same price). Shame Shame Shame Wilibees. Five stars for your amazing selection, minus three for your Scrooge-like behavior.

Yelp
Super cool spot. They have a bar and food inside - stuff like sandwiches. It smelled amazing. Very clean and modern. Good vibes. The workers are super helpful and nice. Only negative is a lot of the products are priced way higher than other places. Not all of them, but the majority I'd say.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place! They have a great selection and amazing service. Plus they have a room in back with some Gems that you can't find anywhere else in Sonoma County. If you're looking for great service and selection look no further than here.
google avatar

Wulfstan C.

Yelp
Overall, this is a great place and something we really needed downtown since it has not only a bar and tap room but is also, mostly, a nice liquor store, more or less like a small Bottle Barn. Five stars may arguably be a tad too much, but 4 seems a tad to low, 4.5 being best. I therefore rounded it up to 5. After Bottle Barn, it is clearly the best liquor store, i.e., high-end wine-beer-spirit store, in Sonoma County. I suspect that this is true of the other branch in Petaluma, of which I had heard many good things and which seems essentially the same as this, but which I had not ever gotten to. (I note that Beercraft in Rohnert Park is also good, but only for beer and not as good as this place due to the lack of good imports and lopsided focus on just west coast craft beer.) The place is much smaller than Bottle Barn so overall the selection is more limited, especially when it comes to spirits and wine. They in particular lack any consistent selection of certain things such as Pisco. However, while the selection is smaller, what they do have is generally of good quality with harder-to-find examples. Their beer selection also is pretty close to Bottle Barn, with the emphasis being on the better-quality or more obscure items and less of the standard stuff. They have a good range of cheeses, crackers, cocktail items, etc. Prices are overall good. Generally prices are not quite as good as Bottle Barn but some are comparable and prices are better than Beverages & More. The staff are eager and helpful and they all seem to have at least some good knowledge of at least one type of product. Some of them really know a lot, too. The tasting-room/bar is nice with a good rotating selection of beers and wines. They also have a limited menu of food. Choices are few but what we have had is great, especially for a simple, light snack to go with the beer or wine, which is the main focus.
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
Great place to enjoy a fantastic selection of beers, liquors and wines. Sunny the owner is often here and the staff are excellent. Open a bottle and relax at the bar, enjoy some snacks, watch sports or listen to music, this is a great place to stop and relax, or pickup something and enjoy at home.

Yelp
This place has really good food!. I have been into Wilibees once with coworkers and I have also ordered food to go. Keith is always willing to go out of his way for our law firm. They have excellent service, I highly recommend!

Yelp
Excellent customer service!! Spirits, wine and all the brew options!? You can't go wrong. Oh and bottomless mimosas Sunday's 12-4

Yelp
This place has a beautiful selection of pinots and a pretty decent selection of Zins (Zins from the Sierra Foothills, the Central Coast and Lodi as well as many from Sonoma County, of course). The cabs were all you could ask for. Lots of French and Italian wines too. (They said 20% European wines at this point with more to come if they are popular.) I meant to look for Spanish wines too but I was overwhelmed... like a kid in a candy store. A few prices were a dollar or two higher than average but many were lower. I think that they've done a good job with that. It isn't an overpriced store but it is a customer service rich store none the less. Give them an idea of what you like and they will help you find that or something similar. I think that is pretty cool. The beer selection is amazing! You can make your own 6 pack for a 15% discount as well. Lots of rare beers and tons of IPAs that I have never heard off. I will bring my husband in. He will, of course, check out the cigar room as well....and the wall of scotch. Then probably the Rare Wines room which also has rare spirits including a couple scotches that would be the perfect gift for my scotch loving husband for Christmas. We are definitely going to come back to taste. (They have a bar plus tables for tastings and small bites.) I want to try some of the wine buyer, Siri Hanson's classes too. She is going to do classes on how to read French or Italian wine labels, how to improve your nose to recognize wine descriptors, paring wine with food including one paring wine with junk food... What a perfect addition to downtown.

Rich C.

Yelp
So dissapointed in Wilibees. I will never go back. Long story short... I walked in and asked for a bourbon I knew they had in stock. I asked the clerk for a bottle, he looked over at the owner and asked if it was available. The owner looked over at me for a few seconds and then said "no". I proceeded to pick a really expensive bottle of wine and a lesser bottle of bourbon(55.00). I went to the counter and the cashier rung me up, forgetting to charge me for the wine. The ethical me told the cashier that he did not charge me for the wine and he thanked me for being honest. I told him thanks and and related that the owners should have been honest too. I will relentlessly tell my friends to avoid Wilibees!

Yelp
Great spot to enjoy a pint and a flatbread. Great beertenders, bottle selection, and pub grub. Cool events as well. Super stoked to try a Sam Adams Utopia today.

Yelp
We are evacuated to the Hyatt in Santa Rosa. I called them and asked them to please pick some nice wine. It's delicious and they delivered. Could not have been a better experience. Stranded and need alcohol call them!!!

Yelp
Friendly people, great beer/wine selection, and tasty bites! Happy hour Monday-Friday 4-7 and Saturday and Sunday 12-6! Bottomless mimosas on Sunday!

Yelp
This is a great spot to find that special beverage for a party or special guests. One of the best selections of wines, spirits, and cigars around!

Yelp
Cool little beer/shop near Russian River craziness. We went specifically because they had KBS on tap. My most favorite beer ever!! They also have red and white wines. About 10 beers on tap. It had a nice bar and offered some small plates. We did not eat. The store part had small things to accompany beer and/or wine drinking. My husband got some beers from the retail. He said it had a great beer collection. A lady was doing a bourbon tasting and we got to do that too. 1792 Bourbon, it was tasty. A great place. Hope it lasts.

Yelp
When this place went in, I was really pleased. Ever since Kinko's moved, this business space has been a black hole of business with nothing lasting. I think they FINALLY found a winner. (Hard to go wrong with booze, right?) Their spirits selection is large and amazing. I do not buy a lot of spirits but if I did and I was curious to try new things, I would definitely shop there. I AM a big beer geek and for beer, THIS PLACE ROCKS. First, they have beer bar with a lot of cool stuff (about dozen different beers on tap). For off sale, they have a nice selection of higher end beers, including several imports and some rarer stuff. They have some six packs of some "staple" beers (Mt. Tam Pale Ale, etc.) but the best part for me is that they have two or three sections of coolers with singles so you can geek out and try one (or mix and match a six pack -- they offer 15% off if you buy six). The only reasons for four stars, instead of five: The bar area has almost no character -- that is, unless you want to look out at shelves of liquor. Their prices are a touch higher than elsewhere -- but I guess you have to pay for their rent in that location.
google avatar

Kelly W.

Yelp
Love this store. Beautiful, open, interesting AND great liquor prices and selection. They have a wine bar and sandwiches. We had the chicken breast, avocado, chipotle. Made with love and delicious.
google avatar

Zeni B.

Yelp
If you are looking for a great local wine, this the spot. We walked in and someone came to greet us immediately and asked if we wanted any help. Of course we did and he had so much energy and passion for wine, it's the experience you want in wine country.

Tracey J.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite place to buy wine!!! They are the only spot that sells Trione Vineyards, my favorite winery, and their customer service is fabulous. Every time I go in there the employees are such sweethearts. They greet you with a friendly hello, ALWAYS ask if you need help finding anything, and are super knowledgeable about the wines and wineries. Don't waste your time at the grocery store looking for mediocre, overpriced wine when you can get high quality wine at a reasonable price.
google avatar

Courtney P.

Yelp
While the selection of wine is good and prices fair, my rating is for the piss poor customer service. Walked in on three separate occasions to an empty store to find three employees and not one greeted me or even acknowledged my presence. A rude side glance for female staff even...In consulting with my friends, they have also experienced the same. I rarely write poor reviews but I'm appalled at lack of customer service. One occasion, fine. Three? It's not me, it's you. Won't be a patron again which is a shame because you're convenient and have an excellent selection of wine. Especially the cold section!

Yelp
I want to like this place. It's the sort of place I want to exist in downtown Santa Rosa: a nice bottle shop and taproom. However, the experience was let down by the service. My wife and I stopped in one evening to have a beer and a glass of wine, most of an hour before closing. The barman was curt from the start; I'm not sure if it was personal, a mood, or just the way he is. He showed little interest in talking about what was on tap (other than to say that my top two beer choices were out, while still being listed on the electronic sign) or what wines were available, and grudgingly took an order for a cheese plate (which took long enough to come out that I thought it was forgotten). He then started shutting down the bar 20 minutes before closing, while we sat there. Aside from the service experience, the beer offerings on tap were reasonably varied with a few unusual options, if not strongly to my taste. The selection of wine by the glass looked reasonably thorough. We didn't really spend much time in the store portion of the place, though it looks like it it probably serves well as a high-end liquor store. I'll have to return to explore the store more fully, and to scope out the bar area from a safe distance - there's definitely potential here, and with some luck I'll have reason to revisit this review.

Yelp
New favorite sandwich spot downtown. Not a huge deli but it seems they reserve quality over quantity. Quick and polite service. Nice fluffy fresh bread and gourmet flavor combinations. I recommend the hot pastrami sando with spicy mayo.
google avatar

Elliot K.

Yelp
What a phenomenal experience! Absolutely wonderful experience! When do you hear that in a typical "liquor store" on any old street corner? The staff was extremely knowledgable and very friendly. We had the pleasure of meeting Cyrille, the manager, who steered us in the direction of a fantastic employee who answered every question we had about Gin, Scotch, Bourbon, wine and beer. I highly recommend making this place your one-stop shop for all your wine, beer and liquor needs! They have an awesome tasting bar as well although we did not want to close the place down as they were almost closing :) Best wine shop around, don't miss it!
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
Great bottle selection. Great tasting & bar space. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. This is a perfect place for a late afternoon drink & snack (while reading, because I'm nerdy like that).
google avatar

Josh D.

Yelp
Went and picked up a few items here before the holidays and was pleasantly surprised. Pricing is pretty decent and the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. It's a bit of a Bottle Barn downtown with a tasting bar for select wines and beers. I hope they do well - I like the selection and downtown location.
google avatar

Kelli G.

Yelp
I have not had the opportunity to do any wine tasting but I always get fabulous advice picking great bottles of wine. Everyone is really knowledgeable and friendly. I have not been disappointed with a bottle yet. I look forward to stopping in without a two year old one of these days so I can try some of their tastings.

Yelp
This is my favorite wine shop in Santa Rosa. Not to mention they have a great little deli. Looking forward to stopping by more this summer when the temperature rises!

Went in for a bottle of wine and came home with these! Fantastic employees who really knew their stuff, he wine buyer introduced me to a new red wine and I loved it! There is even a tasting bar inside so you can try some before you buy!
