Exceptional pizzas, pies, great beers, whiskies & wines
"In a previous life, William The Fourth was a sticky Leyton boozer, but it has since graduated from shabby local to shabby chic dining destination. A Pinterest-primed gallery wall and orange wine are now in residence, as are exceptional pies from Short Road Pizza. These pizzas are up there with the best in London and merge Romana (crispy thin crust, baby) with punchy American flavours. There’s a leg-kicking soundtrack of Van Morrison and Talking Heads hits, friends letting loose out in the back courtyard, and couples playing a spontaneous game of darts between ‘nudja honey-dripping slices. It’s loud, proud, and a ready-made sizzling Saturday night." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, daisy meager, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
"Short Road Pizza at Leyton pub William The Fourth is already getting a lot of buzz. We’re excited to try their thin-crust pizza which is supposedly based on a Romana-style pie with American influences. There’ll be Italian small plates too. We checked out William The Fourth and added it to the Hit List." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
"There’s a lot to like about this Leyton pub, not least because the crispy pizzas are up there with the most irresistible in London. Combining one of these pies with a glass of chilled red and a seat in the chic boozer’s sport-dedicated ‘green room’ makes it one of the more upmarket pub-and-the-game experiences in London. That green room comes complete with a framed photo of Fabio Cannavaro and a big old projector." - jake missing
"In a previous life, William The Fourth was a shabby local, but it has since graduated to a shabby-chic dining destination thanks to Short Road Pizza. These Romana thin-crust, American fire flavour pies are a blizzard of chilli heat, hypnotic spiral drizzles of chimichurri, and glorious blobs of garlic purée. A word from the not-so-wise: hit it up at the weekend so you can let the leg-kicking soundtrack of Van Morrison and Talking Heads hits convince you that playing darts while tipsy on orange wine is a very good idea." - heidi lauth beasley
"There was a time when a Friday night “pizza and pub” combo entailed downing six pints at your local, crawling into the arms of Dr. Oetker, and feeling a little hurt that mistress Ristorante can’t kiss you on the forehead when the hangover hits. Enter Short Road Pizza’s thin-crust, punchy chilli heat-hyping pies at William The Fourth, a refurbed Leyton boozer that’s been given the Pinterest-primed gallery wall polish. Order the Pepperoni Royale, smother it in ‘nudja honey, and let the orange wine be the new protagonist of your sizzling Saturday night." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna
