The Best Wine Glasses That Look Fancy — and Cost $10 Each | Eater

"Browsing an online retailer’s site from an Airbnb led to ordering the Schott Zwiesel Forte All Purpose Wine Glasses (a set of six) after recognizing the same Forte glasses used at the restaurant; they cost about $60 per six (roughly $10 each). The glasses were praised for being versatile enough for reds and whites, sturdy and dishwasher-safe, reasonably priced for their quality, and arrived in time to replace the old set—so far only one has been broken in everyday use." - Elizabeth Atkinson

Review: Yesterday around 11:30 AM, I went to the store to pick up a coffee machine I had reserved, and I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Even when I called ahead to confirm the order, the woman who answered the phone was already rude and unpleasant. When I arrived at the store, a kind staff member was helping me when the same woman (wearing a dark pink or fuchsia blouse) interrupted and took over the interaction in a very confrontational manner. She didn’t let me finish a single sentence — every time I tried to explain something, she cut me off with a negative or dismissive response. Her tone was harsh and unkind. It was so uncomfortable and embarrassing that I began to feel guilty, even though I had done nothing wrong. I left the store extremely frustrated, upset, and with my hands literally shaking. Today, I returned to the store because it was the only location that had the machine in stock, and thankfully, the women who helped me this time were the complete opposite — kind, professional, and genuinely friendly. Instead of leaving empty-handed and upset, I left with a beautiful Breville machine and a smile, thanks to their excellent service. The employee from yesterday should not be treating customers the way she does. Being respectful and courteous is the minimum standard. We all have bad days, but that is no excuse to take it out in a customer.

Some of the nicest and most responsive/helpful people work at Williams Sonoma, Fair Oaks Mall. Extremely customer service focused and driven to help you solve problems including merchandise returns and refunds. Will not hesitate to call other stores or search online to find merchandise that may be out of stock.. I’ve shopped here for over 20 years, and each time it’s a wonderful experience whether browsing or seeking to find that special item to dress out a table or make a recipe—Williams Sonoma has it all. Williams Sonoma unique displays that also includes hot cider, soup, and other treats along with an outstanding sales team add to a very lovely experience not found in any other store!

I’ve noticed in general there have been many times where I and/or members of my family are not properly greeted and ignored regarding customer service. The other day that happened again while several people who entered the store after me were greeted and assisted. Completely unacceptable. Also, one of the employees lied about a product not being used when I noticed it looked tampered with. When I opened it there was missing packaging as well. That woman also doesn’t seem to be properly trained as she doesn’t know the answers to basic questions. I will be returning recent unopened items purchased at this store and we will not return to this location again.

I came here to obtain a gift for my Dad, he really loves this store and I wanted to get him something I knew he'd enjoy. The staff were very nice with helping to suggest different options for what he may like and I decided to purchase a multi-seasoning pack which he has been thoroughly enjoying! The store is very organized and it's literally like the adult candy store. Looking around, everything looks exciting and useful! Thanks for your care with helping me get something nice for my Dad.

Google
Williams-Sonoma in fair oaks mall failed to honor their online price and product description. At checkout, the price was higher, and customer service refused to match the advertised details. Misleading and disappointing—beware! But on the website they say they do price match but THEY DON'T!!!!

Google
Awful store. My husband bought me a gold touch pan right before thanksgiving (I have 10 of them ranging from 1 year old to 12+ years old but needed a rack), I used it one time and the rack immediately scratched the coating off the pan. When he went to return it they accused him lying, that it couldn’t possibly have been damaged after one use. They then proceeded to accuse him of lying about WHEN it was purchased when he asked for a copy of the receipt. The person he dealt with was the store manager, Tina. This person has no business being in customer service let alone being a manager. The customer service center was a train wreck to boot. I have been a William Sonoma customer my entire culinary career and will NEVER recommend anyone purchase anything from them ever again after this experience. Garbage product, garbage customer service.

I just want to say that Grace was beyond helpful and amazing! This is one of my favorite stores, and Grace just made the experience even better. I was looking for a frother, and she helped me find one that suited my needs. She really provided amazing customer service.

Yelp
I went lunch hour on a Tuesday to buy a sauce pan -3 women working there -none even looked at me -all 3 talking to 1 customer about a registry. I even took the pan up to the register and stood behind the 1 customer they were all chatting with and waited 5 minutes-not even a "someone will be with you soon". I went to put the sauce pan back and leave. A couple in the section I returned pan to was milling around the front asking each other-"who do we ask to get the pan?" Everything in that section is a "display only-ask for assistance" item. I said "good luck" and went outside the store and ordered the pan from a different vendor online -free delivery-will not be back to this store.

Yelp
I go to stores like this for my chef knife's and products because of quality but this location in Fair Oaks has terrible customer service. I went on Monday evening and Multiple times staff members walked pass me looked at me and didn't speak or offer assistance. I think if anyone is going in and spending their money in stores like this customer service should always be number one. I don't think I would go back to this location.

Yelp
Great store with great service. It smelled so good, so we bout there mulling spices and cinnamon to reproduce the aromas. Staff was so nice. Absolutely a must to stop in and see if there is anything that can your home a little homier.

Yelp
Love this place. Barbara is awesome. Very help full with Christmas gifts and with a expresso machine replacement due to cosmetic damage. Once and awhile they have a great sale on Reidel wine glasses and other items that I use.

Yelp
Very unimpressed by the service here. My mother attempted to purchase a Christmas gift for me - a Shun knife that I had noted on a previous visit was on sale - and when she returned, even though it was still priced as marked, they refused to honor the price - the promotion had expired and they were unwilling to move. Strange, I had the same problem last year when I picked up some Shun knives and they honored the price at that time. Why don't you fix the problem and update your signage? When we went to return the knife due to the inconsistency, I noticed the store manager who 'helped' me last year was still there (Williams-Sonoma upper management, very short blonde-ish white lady, for your reference) - floating around the store but not helping customers. (a line 5 deep seemed to be the breaking point for her to deign to help). When I finally was helped by the other store associate, she saw I was making a return and visibly rolled her eyes. Really? She then aggressively questioned me on why I wanted to make a return - with receipts, in packaging, within a few days of the purchase. Not appreciated. As well, I sure am glad that I didn't stick an old rusty kitchen knife in the box and try to pass it off as a Shun and return it, because she definitely didn't check! With the poor example set by her manager, I was not surprised, though. Poor, poor service. Maybe I'll try the Outlet in Leesburg instead.

Yelp
Among the many reasons why I love Williams-Sonoma are its organized layout, desirable inventory, friendly and knowledgeable service, samples!, quality products, frequent sales and military discount. Who could ask for more!? If you're looking for quality food items (from the chili starter base to cocktail mixers to gourmet vinegar to dark chocolate pepperoni bark) this is your place! Quality tools and appliances that make cooking easier and shave time off meal prep--look no further. And of course (my favorite!), beautiful and functional tableware to bring color and style to the dishes you serve family and friends when you enjoy a meal together. W-S has my number and knows how to reel me in. Just last week I bought the entire table setting featured in the store's entrance. Although not 100% authentic to the Chinese culture, their Lunar New Year table settings are a beautiful mix of zodiac signs and traditional cloisonné of flowers, koi, dragons, and phoenixes!! The set brings such joy to my tabletop! On the other hand, this is not a discount store. Because all the lovely things you will find at W-S can put quite the dent in your wallet, I recommend signing up for the emails (20% off at least once a month) and also the Key Rewards system that gives you rewards dollars back to spend on your next purchase. W-S support our service men and women and offer 15% off any retail purchase to any military or dependent with ID. The Fair Oaks location has some of the nicest and most helpful employees I've ever dealt with and it seems to be a store policy to be patient and kind when dealing with their customers. You'll be sure to get exactly what you wanted and know the warranty, complementing pieces, discounts, and delivery options for anything you purchase here in this location.

Yelp
I've been a fan of Williams-Sonoma for a long time - nice stuff - but not inexpensive either. I finally got around to spending a couple of gift cards I had. I went in looking for a stainless steel vacuum container to store coffee - I saw one there a couple of years ago. However, they no longer carried it. So I picked up a set of green bowls, and some various kitchen tools, a couple of zest graters, a pair of seafood scissors, an avocado tool, measuring spoons, and a strainer. Now I just wish I could afford one of their expensive butcher block knife sets!

Yelp
I had an exceptional experience at this location. Barbara one of the managers helped me exchange an item from another store. She has great customer service skills, was very kind and listen to my concerns and frustration. Regarding wrong information I was given in a different location on an item. Barbara gain a customer at her location. When you're looking for a specific item customers rely on sale associates to be honesty and transparent on products. If it's not what the customer is looking for point us in the direction of another product that you offer or offer to ship it to a home address if not available in stores.

Yelp
STOP BY, CHANCES ARE YOU'LL BE A RETURN CUSTOMER, I SURE AM!!! STAFF: Very approachable. On several occasions they have not only helped me narrow down my search but they've also shown me proper techniques and use of the items I was looking to purchase. STOCK: This particular site has a wide variety of items anything you'd need or want in the kitchen. Considering this store focuses on cookware you'd be hard-pressed to not find what you're looking for. I have been very impressed with the variety and quality of the items offered. Not only do they have a good selection you can actually be hands-on and get a "real feel" for the items rather than going home only to find out what you bought doesn't work for you. If for some reason they don't have what you're looking for keep in mind online ordering is always an option. They have pretty much anything you can want or think of. PRICING: QUALITY PRODUCTS. Many of the items, such as utensils, are comparable, and in some cases cheaper, to those you'd find at places like Target or Walmart however, in my opinion the items here are a much higher quality and will last you longer. Although some of the cookware can prove to be a pricey investment I don't doubt they'd last a lifetime. Personally I'd rather pay more in the beginning than have to replace cookware over-and-over which ultimately leads to you spending more in the long run. If you're anything like me budgeting is very important which is why I'll purchase items here and there (it's been worth it and I haven't had a single complaint with any of my purchases). Keep in mind that they often have sales which tend to be a significant saving. Military discounts are also given. OTHER: Special services are offered FREE; for instance they will come to your home and help you set up your kitchen so that you get the best and most efficient use of your kitchen, not only that but they will make recommendations they believe would further improve your overall cooking experience. They also on-site cooking classes are offered FREE. These classes range anywhere from basic skills to making "special" dishes and recipes. I recommend contacting them to get schedules. I haven't been to any classes yet however I've learned many techniques by simply talking to the associates before buying items. Something to keep in mind is if you decide to shop at a Williams-Sonoma Outlet you aren't able to exchange/return it's to the store as they are two seperate entities.

Yelp
Exceptional service and knowledgeable team working in this Williams-Sonoma store located in the Fair Oaks mall. They go above and beyond to accommodate customers request. Several times I needed something not in the store. They either immediately found it in another local store or ordered it online. I appreciate the sense of humor the team shares when things get super busy and I thrive on their enjoyment and passion for cooking. When I leave this store I feel motivated and inspired to try new things in the kitchen and challenge myself.

Yelp
I don't think I've ever written a negative view of any company before. And this one pains me because I worked for the company for 9 years over two different period and remained loyal even after gone. But Williams-Sonoma no longer stands for customer service or quality. The last 3 times I've been there the staff had gone through a complete turnover. No one knows the products any longer. And they no longer stand behind their products. I guess when the employees started leaving here to go work for Crate and Barrel the customers should take cue and follow suit. I know I will.

Yelp
Love Williams- Sonoma. They are a little pricey but their products generally hold up. I went in this week as I had bought my husband a waffle maker for Father's Day and had wanted to get some waffle mix and syrup for him to try it out with. Customer service was great and one of the ladies who worked there was able to recommend several products.

Yelp
Don't buy any food items unless you're sure you'll love them! I drove an hour to my nearest store to try the holiday flavored Nespresso pods. I bought extra expecting to love them after the rave review of the employee helping me. And they are disgusting! Like coffee flavored tea. Not only do they taste nothing like the seasonal flavors (peppermint chocolate, holiday blend, pumpkin pecan spice, etc) but they don't even taste like coffee. And yes, my machine is fine and brews all other pods fine. Joke is on me! I have $50 of nasty coffee-tinted-tea that I won't drink or serve to others cause W&S won't take back (unopened original packaging) food items. If you stand by your product, you'd accept returns.

Yelp
I went here last weekend, I was very impressed by the customer service. Normally, I won't go in because it a bit out of my budget, but they were having a sale the weekend I went. When I went to the register to pay for my apron and towels, the cashier was very attentive. She placed both my purchases in Williams-Sonoma boxes since they were going to be presents. She neatly folded and tied everything for me. In addition to the boxing, she told me about the free service the mall provided --just go to the mall's customer service and show your receipt and they would wrap it for free.

Yelp
As a previous employee of this company, I still love the products and continually shop there. I didn't work at this particular store, and went in one day to inquire about a very nice blender- they shrugged me off and BOTH managers were not accommodating at all to the CUSTOMER. I later purchased my Vitamix500 from a different Williams-Sonoma and will no longer shop at the Fair Oaks branch.

Yelp
Went there again today while husband was in the Apple Store and can confirm that the attitude of the staff (or at least the lady who I assume is the store manager at the time) is still undesirable. I went in and saw that lady (the same one who passed by me to help other customers in my last review) and purposely asked her about coupons and discounts. She was dismissive and had that "I'm too good to talk to you" tone and quickly found an excuse to go back to the back of the store. I was already feeling silly at that time but then another employee probably heard what was happening and went over and made a very engaging conversation about the pots that I was looking at---trying to make up for the bad attitude I experienced from her manager? It was nice but I really am not comfortable going into this store again. And you know what, store manager lady? I actually went in ready to buy another Staub cocotte. But guess now I'm getting it from the Reston store.

Ricardo T.

Yelp
Nespresso website indicates this Williams-Sonoma store is one of the "recycling partners" that collect and process for recycle the aluminium capsules used in the Nesspresso coffee machines. I've been to two William Sonoma store (Fair Oaks Mall and Tysons Corner) and they refused to take the capsules alluding they were not yet "set up" for that. Both stores have been in those locations for years!! I mentioned they are listed as recycling centers in the Nespresso website and that I called Nespresso directly to make sure, but they did not care about that. For those living in Northern Virginia Tysons Corner, Vienna, Fairfax area, the only collection point that took my capsules was: SUR LA TABLE Tyson's Galleria 1711G International Drive Space 1010 McLean, Virginia 22102 They also sell everything WILLIAMS SONOMA sells but at better prices, so great green competition from this conscious retailer.

Scott A.

Yelp
I love Sonoma, but this location is awful. Every time I go in there, the employees are rude. Today was no exception. Went on to return an item, and was treated like it was a chore with a snide attitude. Was actually snapped at. The Reston location is great. Will only go there from now on even though Fair Oaks is closer.

S Y.

Yelp
Love the staff. Try to visit when Eric or Chandra are working. They treat you like family and are wonderfully nice!

Eileen M.

Yelp
This is my first review but I felt compelled to compliment Williams Sonoma for a job well done. I recently returned a defective toaster that I had for almost a year (w/receipt). The staff, as always, was very knowledgable, professional, and polite and exchanged my defective toaster for a new one without hesitation or a hassle. This is why I have and will continue to shop at Williams Sonoma for all my cooking essentials. For quality, selection, and customer service, Williams Sonoma can't be beat.

Michaela W.

Yelp
My friend and I went to the Williams-Sonoma Fair Oaks Mall store today for a free cooking technique class on pressure cooking. The teacher used real ingredients, which included chicken and beef. She proceeded to put gloves on, put the completely raw chicken in the cooker with her "bare" hands, and then NOT TAKE THOSE SAME GLOVES OFF FOR AT LEAST 20 MINUTES! She touched everything with those contaminated gloves! Not to mention one of the spatulas used had blood dripping from it. When I say she touched everything, I mean the counter we were using, both pressure cookers, the checkout counter, the flyers, the serving napkins, the cup holding the tasting forks, etc. This, to me, is unacceptable. I know the risk of poisoning is somewhat low, but that's not the point. This is basic cooking knowledge. That all being said, I still like W-S products, and I'm not against buying their stuff, I'll just do it online, and I will NEVER set foot in that store again. Who knows how many other times she has done this, or what hasn't been cleaned after she (or somebody else) touched it. I'm not sure there's enough Clorox in the world to clean that store. Everybody beware.
