Black Friday Is the Best Time to Buy Pots and Pans | Eater

"Recommended for winter cooking and tagines: the tagine is praised for its handsome black colorway (which helps conceal splashes and drips) and for elevating the ritual of lifting a conical, steamy lid when making hearty tangines; it sits within the broader praise for stoneware’s dense, nonporous heat-distribution properties and typical oven capability around 450°F." - Francky Knapp

I was surprised and disappointed when my daughter gifted me a $70 bottle of olive oil from William Sonoma, which I found to be absolutely disgusting. I decided to take it back to the store, but unfortunately, they have a policy that doesn't allow returns on food items. I'm still scratching my head over how they can justify charging such a high price for a bottle of olive oil that's clearly gone bad. It's not just the price that's an issue, but the fact that they won't stand behind their product and offer a refund or exchange.

Google
I kinda consider Williams-Sonoma a bit above my paygrade. I really enjoy walking around inside this store and looking at all the cool culinary equipment, but I can rarely get myself to actually buy anything there. That said, I did buy a set of 4 oven friendly bowls for making French onion soup. I also picked up one of their aprons and am pleased with both purchases.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The store is well-stocked and clean. A very enjoyable experience. I recommend this location for your visit.

I was super excited on Saturday because we were buying a Tucci Green Pan set. So after buying it from Williams Sonoma (wow) I was a little disappointed when I discovered that evening that one of the pan handles was loose right out of the box. Still I was happy, and thought - I’ll call in the morning and surely WS in Fig Garden will replace, exchange whatever to make it right… after all we had paid $900 for it (a sacrifice). The guy on the phone wasn’t rude, but he wasn’t helpful either! Told me it was a known issue and to call the manufacturer.. I tried to explain, it’s been 12 hours seriously how can you be so unhelpful after we paid $900 and you’re Williams Sonoma!! Anyways, packed everything up and took it back - thanks to Kevin the knife guy I didn’t make a scene and he replaced my pot with loose handle (from the display - see I wasn’t unreasonable). Poor customer service is what I experienced at your store, and thanks Mr. or Ms. Manager for not having the guts to come out and face me or take my call. You ruined an experience that my husband and I had been looking forward to and saving for months. Enjoy your holidays and be better to your customers, will ya!!

I just enjoyed kind and helpful customer service from Karen Lorenzen. She helped me get exactly what I wanted and placed the online order for items they didn’t carry in store. We were sharing cooking traditions and chatting and I had a very enjoyable time shopping thanks to her.

Google
This was a really fun store. It is a little pricier than I'm accustomed to but I believe the prices were in line with high-quality retail establishments. The clerks helped to make me feel very comfortable as they had samples to share and water flavored with fresh fruit and also coffee to drink while you're shopping. I was there for a bridal registry and it was almost time for the wedding so some of the items were not available. That was my fault for waiting till the last minute.

Google
This store is gorgeous!! Karen and Kyle were so helpful. I found a couple of the cutest gifts that I didn't even know I was looking for. Can't wait to go back with more time. Who knows what else I will find?!

Google
Staff was helpful and attentive. The store is beautiful, organized, and clean with a good selection. Heard there are more and more WS closing and that makes me sad so I will definitely be back to show my support!

Yelp
williams-sonoma in fig garden is a treat to go to & conveniently located next to pottery barn, anthropologie, paper source, bath & body works and other specialty boutiques. they're never overwhelmingly busy, customer service is excellent - they're very attentive to your needs but let you shop around without bothering too much. their selection of all things cookware, utensils, dinnerware, baking supplies, sweet treats, cool kitchen gadgets you never knew you needed, tea pots, kitchen towels, etc. is what makes this place the best to shop at for all your kitchen needs. if they don't have what you're looking for in-store, please ask a sales associate. they will look it up on computer; you can order from them & they can either have the item shipped to your home for free or you can pick it up at that store location. win/win.

Yelp
Not from the area, and walked around the store for 20 minutes, i am a huge williams sonoma fan btw, however this location i do not recommend. I did not receive any help here, and one of the associates walked in front of me and stepped on my shoe. Not being mindful of where she was walking or saying sorry, i said okay well i was not standing here obviously. Not once was i asked if they could help me or greeted. Definitely was not catered to, highly recommend shopping online for a better experience. Maybe if i was not of color and white i would have been tended to faster.. from what i observed in store anyways. Clovis/Fresno for you though.

Yelp
I came here for a wedding gift. While I was shopping I got to taste some yummy coffee. Although the prices are very high, there are a few items on sale. I thought my item was 20% off but there was a tiny word underneath the 20% off sign that said a certain color. Really? Only that one color was 20% off?

Yelp
I absolutely love this WM. my kitchen does too! The employees are very sweet and helpful. I order a lot and do pick ups and my orders are always ready. I love their ale Creuset lots of selections. I've bought and shopped here for all my kitchen appliances, cookware, flatware, ect and am never disappointed in the high quality of their products. Their coffees are great too

Yelp
Always excellent service and very personable. Super helpful and Knowledgeable. I'd rather come into the store than buy online plus it keeps the business in our city. I always love the selection there too. Nice higher end type of stuff. Great place for gifts too.

Yelp
Things have changed a great deal since my last review. I decided to grit my teeth and go in because a pan I wanted was on sale. The people who work here now are helpful and friendly and just the complete opposite of how it used to be. I shop here semi regularly now and it's always a positive experience. I'm glad to see that they turned things around.

Yelp
I am EXTREMELY WORRIED! On April 26, 24 I returned a $1084.95 coffee maker to William Sonoma for a refund. It is May 13, 24 and William Sonoma has NOT REFUNDED the $1084.95 to me. Are they scamming me? I explained that the coffee maker was TOO BIG. Is William Sonoma scamming me...?

Yelp
I was in this store on Friday, March 1. I was treated very poorly during this visit. I was looking for a new coffee maker and happen to see a Nespresso machine on the counter. I asked the sales lady to demonstrate this to me and the said oh this one is much more expensive than the other one I was looking at. (Almost sounded like she was implying that I couldn't afford it!) yet there was at tag on it that showed a price of $189.00, so I was confused. After she looked at the tag she removed it and told me that that was not the model and incorrect price. I waited and and stood by the counter still while the lady went on to help another customer. As I stood there to continue to be helped, I could see these ladies discussing the incorrect pricing on the item and one sales lady was not helping anyone she looked at me then left and went to the back not returning to help me. When no one returned to continue to help me I walked out perturbed! I went home and I thought this was very poor customer service. I called the store and asked for the manager. I was put on hold for a few minutes the she came on the phone. I explained the I was the person that was there a few minutes earlier and told her about the pricing on the item and she replied oh yes I know about that. I said ok since you know about it and you know that the store should honor that price and also added how poorly I was treated. She apologized and I asked her what she was going to do about it? She asked for my contact number and she will call me back. She returned my call later that day and advised that she checked with corporate and they advised they could NOT honor that price but they can give me 10% off my next purchase. I was not going to go back there again and be mistreated! BRING BACK SUR LA TABLE TO FRESNO THEY WERE ALWAYS SO KIND AND HELPFUL!

Yelp
I absolutely love WS, but it is with great sadness that all of their wares are not guaranteed and, they won't help resolve issues I am a chef, knives are very important, and I love to buy beautiful knives for wedding gifts. Unfortunately I have had the worst experience with what I was told was WS top of the line Japanese Chefs knife, "KAI Shun, DM0904"!! This was on sale for $150, I bought it, the first time I used it, I made sure it was hand washed, unfortunately after hand washing I laid it on a towel and the next morning the blade was totally pitted from rust!!! I took it to William Sanoma and as they handed me the contact number for the manufacture they said there was nothing they can do, and they don't guarantee the products they sell! I called the manufacturer and they just gave me the run around with no hope of replacement!! So buyer be ware when you shop at William Sanoma and what ever you do, do not buy these cheap Japanese knives most likely made in Mexico!!!

Yelp
Very nice selection of kitchen supplies. Found a quality cutting board. Also, clerk was very helpful.

Yelp
This is a nice clean store with friendly staff. Came here to clear out some peppermint bark that they had on clearence after christmas. The staff was helpful in getting my online pick up order ready and on-time. Keep up the good work!

Yelp
Extremely awful experience. I ordered a gift online for in store pick up to avoid the 13 dollars shipping fee. I received a text saying my order was ready. When I came in the store only half of my order was ready. I asked what happened to the other half of the order and they said they canceled it because they didn't have it in store. I didn't receive a notification at all. I then was told I can order it in store and it will ship to my home. I was not given the in store pick up option. The women who was initially helping me just said sorry we don't have it you can order it and left and started helping others. I was waiting for her to assist me with the ordering process. Then she apologized and told me to wait in line and they would help me. I was standing in line for quite a while and the women at register passed me up and and LITERALLY helped the person behind me who just walked up and said I'll be right with you to me. I ignored her and proceeded to the other register who looked like she was just finishing up. Then she literally placed my order again online and I got charged a shipping fee! Like I wouldn't deal with the hassle if I was going to pay a shipping fee. I also was not told there would be a shipping fee. Overall it was just a terrible experience with employees who were extremely unhelpful and rude.

Yelp
Recently purchased a Nespresso Virtuo here and almost immediately had problems with the machine. Unfortunately I didn't keep the receipt. When I called and spoke with Jamie, she worked diligently to help me get the receipt. She worked at it for several days always with a pleasant attitude. While she was never able to get a copy of my receipt , she did connect me with the Nespresso rep who resolved my issue. Thank you Jamie!

Yelp
One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. If I could put a zero, I would. Upon walking in I was met with glares without verbal greeting from the sales associates. I then approached the register to purchase a gift card and was ignored for 15 minutes, until another customer came up with a purchase, who was then tended to quickly. I was the only person of color shopping in the store at the time and I can't help but feel that this may have contributed to the subpar service I received, as there was no other reasonable explanation for the different quality of service I was receiving. I emailed the customer service department for Williams Sonoma and they sent me a generic copy and paste reply with a 15% off coupon. This was a slap in the face. Don't shop in place of exclusion such as this one. Unless that's your preference, then be my guest.

Yelp
It cost me 38.95 with shipping for a 1 1/2 oz jar of truffle dust. It arrived 1/2 full and no seal on the jar. I contacted the William Sonoma company and they sent a second jar with NO SEAL. I contacted them again and they wanted me to print out a return label and find a UPS store to return it. I don't have a printer and I don't feel like I should have to search for and drive to a UPS store to return an item that is faulty under no fault of mine. Expensive lesson to learn William Sonoma is a low quality company with high prices.

Kim W.

Yelp
Worst customer service ever. Just came in for lemon curd and when asked where to find it (after looking through the store) the rude lady just pointed to it and continued to ignore me. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes and she had her back to me. Finally I asked her if I can just pay and she acted like I was bothering her. She said she was helping someone else (I guess by looking something up on the computer) but then why don't they have someone at the register to ring people up? I was in shock and there was only one other customer in the store. I would have been willing to continue to wait patiently had she treated me with courtesy but her attitude was beyond me. I will never come back to this store. They are complete snobs.

Yelp
Hibba is not only beautiful, she's a beautiful person and perfect for her management job at WS. She made a price match adjustment for me on the Kitchen Aid mixer I got. I recieved 20% off. The savings essentially PAID for this Shun knife I also picked up. I'm impressed with the staff here and, as it turns out, my buddy, Melvin, from church, works here too! Top-notch professional service can be found here in a consistently pleasant and well maintained store. In way of encouragement to you all, you're doing an awesome job! -G

Yelp
Terrific WS location and a nice big store too. I admit there's nothing I need or don't already have, but it's absolutely worth a trip around the store to view the latest and greatest. I bet my best gifting ideas here and never tire of perusing the gourmet olive oils or specialty salts. Love that this WS is in a shopping center with other favorite stores. Loads of parking. Make a day of the area.
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
I bought a pan from here that didn't meet my (or the manufacturer's) standards, and they worked with me to resolve the issue to my satisfaction.
google avatar

Katrina C.

Yelp
The customer service I received from the manager Conan was above and beyond. He is very friendly, makes you feel comfortable and listens to what you asking or needs. I've also been helped before by Forest, another manager who is also very kind and helpful. I assure you, ask to talk with these two gentlemen and they will take care of you.

Yelp
Although small compared to the big city versions, this WS has a nice selection and the staff is willing to order anything they don't have in stock. They provide lovely gift wrapping services too. I love to go in here and just look, but when I need a kitchen utensil, this is pretty much my first stop. They've got it all. I've run around town, looking at other places, only to end up here and wish I had started at WS in the first place, especially since it's so close to home. I buy a jar of peach salsa everytime I go in as this is the only place I can find the brand I really like.
google avatar

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Every time I shop here they have terrible customer service. Bad attitudes, not enthusiastic, don't great you. Prices to high and many products not in stock.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
I emailed this company minutes after placing an order online asking them to cancel the order. What do they do? The next day they ship the order! Forget about calling them. I was on hold for 30 minutes and no one picked up. I hate companies that don't bother reading their emails or answer their phones. NowI have to wait until the item arrives just to ship it back and hope I get a refund. I'd stay away from this place that has zero customer service and not professional enough to even read their emails in a timely manner

Yelp
Let me start by saying that the product I bought here was great. Service not so much. I bought a Breville espresso machine that was a little over $1200. With that purchase I received a $125 gift receipt to use at any William Sonoma store. I ended up misplacing it and they wouldn't print me a new one. So I called Williams-Sonoma and they said talk to the manager, she should be able to go back and print the receipt. So I called back and come to find out that the manager is on vacation and she will get back to me. It's been almost two months..no call. What hurts me the most is that I put my complete trust on William Sonoma that including the staff. I've always liked William Sonoma for its great products, just hurts to know that people working within could lie to their customers.

Donna P.

Yelp
I really enjoy all my shopping experiences at William Sonoma here in Fresno. The shop is so clean and uncluttered. Everyone is so sweet and ready to help you out. I do a lot of baking and I always buy all my bake ware from William Sonoma. It's always in stock, the store is handy, I love their Holiday bakeware too. Thank you to everyone at the store. Yelp
My partner melted our Le Creuset kettle. (He apparently thought he'd hear the whistle while in the shower. He couldn't. The melted metal/burning paint smell alerted him to the fact that something had seriously gone awry in the kitchen.) He thought that he could hide this fact from me by buying a new one and swapping it out before I got home from work. Surprise, surprise, Williams-Sonoma saved his skin by not only stocking the same model as the melted one, they gave him the replacement for free! They just gave him a $75 kitchen implement for free! There's a customer service moral here. Yeah, W-S took a bath on the kettle, but I've since only bought Le Creuset from them. And when the median price for a piece from this maker runs about $150, they've made a nice bundle of money from me. (And no, I busted him as soon as I walked inside our house. No amount of air freshener and burning incense can hide a smell like that.)
google avatar

Kristina N.

Yelp
Although pricey, it is generally worth it. While they do have some things you can find at other places for much cheaper, they offer unique kitchen accessories and supplies I have only been able to find here. It is much smaller than other WS out of town, but isn't everything in this diseased placed they call Fresno. It is always clean and easy to find what I am looking for. The staff is always super knowledgeable and friendly. I love all their baking goods and grilling sauces as well. My most recent purchase was a blender that I am so far very pleased with. May have to pick up an espresso machine soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Normally, I hate this chain store. Who wants to pay $40 for a box of salt?! Here's the thing, though. They have yummy samples of drinks and all kinds of treats around the store, and the people who work here are super helpful in a non-creepy sort of way. I swear, the stuff here is really useful (jar of pureed butternut squash! Where else could you find that?). So what if it costs me an arm and a leg? I bet the people who work here would roast up that arm and leg and make it niiiiiiiice n tasty.
google avatar

Christy R.

Yelp
Tried to purchase an appliance, girls working were extremely rude. One was looking for her 'Peeps" after asking numerous times and being ignored... will find another store. Very disappointing . Always somewhere though

Jenny M.

Yelp
The review is low due to poor customer service. I went in to look around for the sales. I basically got blocked out and slowly moved back by an employee there due to having a beverage. I understand if there are changes in rules due to COVID but there were no signs indicating change. That was a bit much to do. Then they stated that I could leave my beverage outside on the asphalt. I'm sorry but that sounds very unsanitary. I really would suggest to maybe have a table for customers to leave their beverages or at least a sign to show no more food/beverages in store. Very unprofessional. Probably best to buy online from now on.

Yelp
Do not get a charge card from this place. I opened up a credit card from this place when I made an expensive purchase from this place in April. I paid my bill on time in full, but when I got my statement today they said I was late one day so they charged various charges to the total of $60.00. I didn't point out to the rude CS person that they didn't take into account that they tried to cheat me and not give me the extra knob on a copper pan that I bought and I waited 3 weeks for that knob. I also was the only one that complained that the pan they said came with 2 knobs only had one in the box to the customers that previously bought the expensive pan. So not only do they make money on charging you bogus charges you don't get what you paid for. Buyer beware. So I will pay the $60.00 rip off charge and I will NEVER shop at a Williams Sonoma store again.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Amazing staff! Very helpful! Most of my kitchen is from here! Great selection best brands for kitchen items! Go check it out!! Also great prices when they have sales!
google avatar

Maureen G.

Yelp
I must admit that before dil, I had never stepped foot in a Williams-Sonoma nor did I know it existed. Pricey but in the case of their textiles, you do get what you pay for. Quality dish towels that are as thirsty as they are good looking. I never met a dish towel I didn't like but I really really like the quality of a Williams-Sonoma dish towel. As I perused the other items in the shop, there were many things I'd love to own but am willing to live without. WS is a good pic for giftong friends that love spending time in the kitchen either cooking or celebrating with friends and family. This location, just happens to be situated in a lovely one of a kind shopping centers that doesn't have the look or feel of "every" shopping center in America. Many dining options, shopping options or just browsing and people watching options as well. Oh and don't forget to check out the clearance table before checking out! The sales people are friendly and not one bit stuffy!

Wyatt M.

Yelp
Terrrible customer service, ordered online got to store and no items were pulled, stood there for 50 minutes with nothing.

Russ F.

Yelp
Tried to Order a mixer online and they canceled the order without cause or notice. NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!!
google avatar

Jen T.

Yelp
I really love coming in there. Unlike Sur La Table, this place is super clean and uncluttered.

Virlie B.

Yelp
You have to expect that this place is expensive because of the name, but every thing that I've ever bought here lasted way more than the same stuff I bought at regular stores. So, you're paying for quality. I love the free samples and the staff that works here are quite nice and helpfull.

D Yangzom T.

Yelp
I wish I could leave negative stars for the business as a whole. Apologies if this is not the right way to post a review for them, but I don't know how to leave a review of this nature otherwise so have to do it this way. My problems were customer-service related with Williams Sonoma Corporate. I noticed someone else here posted that they experienced problems with a credit card purchase. They kept back-ordering items purchased, and when I cancelled them after I believe 2 or 3 back-orders, lo and behold, they arrived within a few days and I was charged $261! After calling the business, who told me to call Comenity Bank (?why?) for a refund (they are the bank who operate credit card/credit line for WS), and calling WS Corporate back, it was supposedly all taken care of months ago with a full refund, or so I thought. As of today, I still have a balance on my card plus late fees, and I've had to resort to filing with the BBB. Their response to the BBB filing: Williams Sonoma Corporate are STILL saying they can't help me, and I have to contact the bank if I am questioning charges that THEY as a business have placed. I'm beyond frustrated. I appreciate that BBB is continuing at this time to assist me but cannot believe this nonsense is still persisting since April, nearly 7 months ago). I will never shop at WS again and will make sure to tell others the same. My advice: definitely don't EVER open a credit card with WS, any of their other entities, or any store that utilizes Comenity Bank. Terrible run-around with their customer service, passing the buck with responsibility after they charged me when the items were returned (and they were shipped to me post-cancellation!). The most awful experience I've had with a credit card purchase and what should have been a simple cancellation of a purchase that was continuously back-ordered by the merchant.

Yelp
I love Williams-Sonoma! I just people would just give me gift cards for Williams - Sonoma so I can shop!!
