Williams Sonoma’s Dolly Parton Holiday Collab Is Still Underwhelming | Eater

"For the second straight year the retailer released a Dolly Parton holiday collection that recycles the singer’s signature motifs—building on the 2020 patchwork Apron of Many Colors and boxed cookie mix—with new items like Holly Dolly sugar cookie mix, cookie cutters in classic shapes including a butterfly ($30), a patchwork oven mitt-and-pot-holder set ($40), and a gold-handled rubber spatula stamped with Parton’s signature and a sweet slogan. While the collection contains a few genuinely cute pieces (the patchwork apron and holly-berry/plaid napkins) and nodded to the personal 'Coat of Many Colors' song, it otherwise reads as boring, mass-market kitchen basics that feel overpriced and tone-deaf—charging $40 for two pot holders and $17 for a cookie mix whose recipe already appears in Parton’s cookbook struck the reviewer as especially gauche. The criticism is aimed at the brand’s execution rather than the entertainer (the reviewer says they are a longtime buyer of Parton merchandise, including a $100 fragrance purchase), arguing that Parton’s rhinestone-studded, maximalist aesthetic deserved far more sparkle and bespoke flair than this sterile, cash-grab collection." - Amy McCarthy

I recently came in for assistance at William Sonoma (Short Pump) with a broken item I was looking to replace. I was also deciding on another item, with a sister store of theirs (West Elm) which I needed design help on. Anthony Fields did not miss a beat in helping to generate the design we requested and we had it within a week. He was so well informed and welcoming. I've always liked their products but his performance deserved a 5 star review.

I would give it zero stars if I could! So one can see from just a cursory browsing of this location that they really need to work on customer service. My daughter and I walked around the entire store and was never greeted or welcomed to the store. One of the staff walked over to us as we walked in, then I guess we didn’t have a “certain look,” and he headed right back to the register area where they all were just standing around and talking. I did make a purchase (my first and last), and only then was I deemed good enough to have a conversation with.

Love this store! Always a great shopping experience, love the samples too!

Wish I did not have to leave any stars! This place is awful. No one ever greeted me and then when I was finally able to get someone's attention, the lady was busy trying to help everyone but me. I was there for a pick up order. When I was trying to check out, she was in having conversation with the cashier behind her and barley acknowledging me. She help 3 other people, plus answered the phone and helped a customer while trying to help me. On top of all of this - the box was already open and the top of the coffee maker (the chrome part) is tarnished. This was a Christmas gift to my daughter.

I ordered a monogrammed door mat on 11/7/22. I received the door mat without the monogram for which I paid extra. I had to return the door mat thru UPS before they would fix the error and replace it. After returning the mat, it took several weeks for me to receive the same erroneous mat with no monogram. They expected me to go thru the inconvenience of returning it again before fixing the problem. Isn't that the very definition of insanity? I'll be getting a refund and spending my money elsewhere. Very disappointed in Williams Sonoma.

This is the worst company to deal with. I returned my pots 5 month ago and still have not received the new ones. I call every two weeks like they ask me and there Is always an excuse why I have not received them then I asked for a refund because I have purchased a different brand of pots and I have had the pots to long.

Excellent customer service everytime I shop here! Multiple staff members greeted me upon entering the store and asked if I needed assistance or have any questions about the products several times throughout my shopping ( I was in the store about 40 minutes). Thankyou for assisting my other half to "the husband chair" and offering coffee 😂. Was so happy to purchase the autumn hunt scene toile tablecloth and napkins and of course the pumpkin streusel baking mix! The staff at Short Pump the morning of Saturday 09.21.2024 is friendly, helpful and completely awesome! THANKYOU!

Received an anonymous gift which was broken. Took it to the store in the Short Pump mall, but the store manager was very difficult. I’ll get my Dolly Parton advent calendars elsewhere going forward.

Yelp
The store is always so fresh and inviting. The clearance is located in the back of the store. Lots of coffee machine choices. Also if you're into Stanley they have them too.

Yelp
DO NOT TRUST WILLIAM SONOMA ONLINE REVIEWS. The following review was written and rejected by Williams Sonoma. No wonder the reveiws online seem so positive. The Breville Compact Wave Soft Close Microwave is attractive, but that is it. Heating a frozen dinner was awful; at least a 50% longer than directions. A dinner plate won't fit in the oven. 900 watts is not very powerful for a microwave that costs $200. Overpriced and under performing.

Yelp
Don't not order off their website. Tried to order a knife it was on back order but did not get an email until after I ordered the item and the money was on hold in my account been over two weeks no updates. I basically had to call in and cancel my order. Just a waste of time.

Yelp
Went to the store last weekend looking for a tablecloth and found one I thought might work. The gentleman was very nice, however he NEVER mentioned it would be a final sale. If he had mentioned this, I wouldn't have purchased. It was clear I had a physical disability as I was using a cane and not one associate offered to help me find my way, or open the very heavy door leaving, and there were more workers than customers. When my husband went back to return the item, the manager said it was a "final sale" and there was "nothing" she could do. Not even a store credit. Really? Final sales should be clearly marked and clearly STATED at the register. So many companies handle customer service exceedingly better. A little empathy goes a long way. This used to be a favorite shop- no longer. A little customer service could have made a tremendous difference. Hope they feel the $45 was worth losing a customer for life. So many other choices out there! Think twice before spending your money here. Macy's, Crate and Barrel, Sur La Table, Pottery Barn are all far better options. After looking into the company and other reviews at Consumer Affairs and Glassdoor it isn't all that shocking that my experience was less than stellar. Customer service isn't Williams and Sonoma's strength.

Yelp
Super fun being ignored with and not even spoken to when you walk into the store as FOUR employees stay huddled by the desk chatting away like they were in an exclusive club. Not so much as a glance or a "can I help you". In fact, I finally asked if I could get some help and one person sloughed off to get it for me and knocked about 5 things over in a rush to get the annoying task of helping me over with so she could get back to her huddle. I was unimpressed but being in customer service thought, "they just must not be on their game today- it happens". But when a white middle-aged lady walked in with name brand clothing on they rushed over to greet her with eager enthusiasm. Unreal. I suppose you should only visit this store if your not a minority and if you wear name brand clothing. Then you'll be treated wonderfully.

Yelp
I am a HUGE fan of Williams Sonoma... I have been going to them since I found them in Pasadena back in the 1980s. They are a First Class place to buy what you need for your Kitchen. Each year they just keep getting better with the new items they bring out. Most of all, I have bought many items from them, and if something goes wrong, they will take care of it. I bought a Coffee Grinder and this morning, the ON/OFF button broke and I called them. They said to bring it in and we will take care of it. They do not sell this particular item any longer but they had it ONLINE. So, they exchanged it. The item will be sent to me by UPS and even though I will have to pay for shipping.... I did not mind. There was NO questions asked even though it was discontinued in the store itself. This is what I like about a First Class Business. A great place to go and if you like cooking, baking or just like neat appliances and gadgets in your Kitchen... this is the place to go.... Also, a great place to shop for a special gift for someone.... Who does not like stuff for your kitchen.... If you see me there... do not be alarmed.... I love just browsing this store... it is my #1 Store to visit when I go to Short Pump Mall.

Yelp
Came in for a wedding register purchase and boy is this place pricy but beautiful. Its also not a huge store by any means. But the staff was friendly, got us a new, non display pab from the back and wrapped the gift up us in a box and paper. Even popped it in a reusable tote bag. I cant wait to take it to the wedding! 4 stars because i couldn't tell what was on sale or not. Signage was not good. Not much room to move about. But service was excellent.

Yelp
Love this place. This is a small location. I love how the ladies are always pleasant and remember us when we come in. The face mask Nazis are getting annoying g which makes me want to shift my business to online. Less of a headache and I don't need to wear that stupid mask.

Yelp
No help = not worth the trip. I went to Williams-Sonoma looking for a coffee grinder and couldn't find any on the floor. I waited for the only 2 associates in the store to stop their conversation and texting before asking if they had any available. I was told that they were at the front of the store and I asked for assistance in locating it because I couldn't find any when I previously looked. After receiving an eye-roll and interpreting the annoyed look the associates exchanged, one said to follow her to the front of the store where she pointed in a general direction before speed walking to the back of the store again where her colleague resided. I had questions regarding the 2 different options but decided I would take my business elsewhere before inconveniencing them with another interruption in their conversation. Luckily for me, Crate & Barrel was a short walk away and the associates there were more than happy to help me with my inquiries. I bought a coffee grinder from Crate & Barrel and left with so much happiness due to my cheaper and better quality product that it made it even more satisfying not following through with Williams-Sonoma.

Yelp
I just find it really interesting how I walked in this store with my girlfriend (looking for a cheese cloth to make nut milk because apparently this is who we are now) and all four employees glanced at us once and completely ignored us. Granted I had on a grey north face, vans, and jeans and looked pretty casual but the last time I checked my money was still green. We were clearly looking for something within the store and were discussing what we were looking for. When we finally approached one employee they looked as though we were being a complete nuisance and annoyingly pointed out the item. As we were leaving, an older white lady wearing a nice sweater and flats was looking at one of the displays. The employees immediately rushed over to help her I suppose since her outfit was nicer and she was white. It's really terrible how much customers are judged before they even attempt to spend money here. I have spent hundreds of dollars here in the past but they have gotten the last of my money.

Yelp
This is the ABSOLUTE WORST company to use for online shopping. Their customer service dept. is nothing but nice lip service. They lie to you, put you on hold for long periods of time pretending to make you believe they are trying to help you and come back on the phone and lie lie lie. They claim to have no ability to contact their vendors to get an update as to why your order didn't ship. What?? No contact? That is impossible and another lie. I will never ever order anything from this company again. My friend go no present from me this Christmas and I ordered it on the 13th of December in plenty of time to be delivered. All I get is lies -- This company is awful

Yelp
The employees are just amazing! They really took the time to help me find the perfect gift and even wrapped it for me. They are reliable. The store is very organized!

Yelp
I would HIGHLY recommend couples who are picking registry places to NOT registry at Williams-Sonoma. I received a bridal shower gift from a relative that lives out of town (a mixer) and I decided I wanted to exchange it for something different. I took the mixer to the Short Pump Towne Center location expecting to get a store credit for the mixer. THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. I found out that if any items on your wedding registry go on sale, you are unable to return or receive a store credit. (My mixer became a sale item). IT WAS COMPLETELY OUTRAGEOUS! Then I requested my registry be taken off the website, because I did not want my guest purchasing another item from Williams-Sonoma. The manager (Amy) stated that they were unable to do that and I need to do that from home. She lied. She just wanted me out the store. I cannot take the registry down from home. At this point, I know she could have taken it down, but she did not want to lose sales. I have contact Customer Service to have my registry removed and to express the dissatisfaction that this store has given me. I expected, since they market themselves as an upscale cooking store, to have better quality of service and my customer satisfaction. Keep away from Williams-Sonoma.
