Williamsburg Inn

"Visiting storied battlegrounds and revolutionary settlements is a rite of passage for any American kid, but those who’ve done it know it’s not always so exciting—who cares where our ancestors churned butter?—and that more often than not, it entails tiring tours, tepid guides, and honky hotels, where the only thing that feels historic is the musty décor. Not so at the Williamsburg Inn, just steps from the Revolutionary City. This 62-suite Colonial Revival hotel built by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. in 1937 is hardly tired or stale: Rooms in shades of custard and pale blue are decorated in the early 19th century Regency style, with carved wooden tables and damask upholstered Queen Anne sofas lending real, refined elegance rather than revolutionary kitsch. An extensive renovation in 2001 enlarged each of the suites, adding a new tearoom and bar lounge to boot. Perhaps somewhat ironically, you’ll be treated like royalty here: Despite the highfalutin’ garb, the totally unpretentious staff offers turndown service, and will even come and light the fireplace for you. The hotel also offers discounted tickets to Williamsburg—basically a colonial theme park—where kids can join an angry mob (no taxation without representation!) or pretend to march to Yorktown to declare independence. For parents, there’s a much-beloved spa and a golf course with 45 walkable holes. And did we mention the free hot chocolate in the lobby? Don’t be surprised when your kids beg you to come back—we’ll just say we told you so."

"Even if it wasn’t on the grounds of Colonial Williamsburg , the Williamsburg Inn would still ooze history and atmosphere. The English Regency-style property was built in 1937 by the Rockefeller family in order to accommodate the visitors who wished to see the newly restored buildings of Colonial Williamsburg. The inn has hosted celebrities, several U.S. presidents, as well as the Queen of England. It was the first hotel in the country to offer air conditioning, and has expanded and added amenities ever since. The latest renovations include the outdoor Social Terrace, overlooking the Golden Horseshoe golf course (also recently updated), and the signature Rockefeller Room restaurant, which serves Southern American classics with a new British approach, such as lamb loin with lavender goat cheese potatoes. Recently refreshed and spacious rooms feature deep-soaking bathtubs, sitting areas, and antique-inspired furniture. Should you look for recreation beyond exploring Colonial Williamsburg, you have access to two outdoor pools and the spa’s indoor pool, and a variety of recreational options ranging from croquet to tennis."

We did not stay at the inn but at one of the properties they manage on the main street of the reconstructed Colonial Williamsburg. The location was great. The rooms were alright. Thankfully, not an attempt at an authentic bedroom. The beds were comfortable, the blankets scarce and the hot water uneven. The maintenance was not especially great but housekeeping did a good job and the room was clean. The maids ignored my do not disturb sign and there is no safe in the room. The Inn itself is beautiful and we had breakfast there twice. The food was very good and the service was wonderful. Definitely 5 stars there. We learned that arranging our tickets for events and sights in town through the hotel.was the best option for guests.

This was our second time visiting the Williamsburg Inn, and it was absolutely wonderful. The setting cannot be beat. While we really appreciated the expanded menu this year (every meal we had was fantastic, we couldn’t say that last year), we really, really missed in-room dining. We were looking forward to that for breakfast each morning, and didn’t know that it was no longer offered until we arrived. The late check out option allowed us to fully enjoy our last morning (thank you, Kerry Ann!). Be sure to visit Kendall (and William!) in the Restoration Lounge. She was a highlight for us this trip. Her Autumn Glow signature cocktail is fantastic.

This was a bucket list item and it was well worth the wait. Our room on the 3rd floor has beautiful views, the room was spacious and well designed. I loved the comfy robes and the nightly turndown service.||The staff were so kind, and the convenience of the location was just great.||We truly enjoyed our four nights and hope to repeat this sooner than later.

We had a wonderful stay as first timers a the Williamsburg Inn...the staff in all departments could not have been more friendly, helpful and pleasant. Our room was on the first floor and we had a beautiful view, it was quiet and was kept in immaculate condition by the housekeeping staff. The turndown service was such a treat as were the welcome 'gift' and birthday extra. The location is perfect for getting all thru the historic area and also in town shopping and dining. Parking was super convenient and the pool was very enjoyable. We enjoyed the patio at all times during the day and are hoping to get back for a stay sooner than later.

This is a beautiful property and our room was extremely comfortable and well appointed. We found the staff to be welcoming, well informed and helpful. The bar area is a wonderful intimate space but with limited hours. Dinner in the Terrace Room was enjoyable. Those with discriminating tastes would enjoy this property. Please be advised that rooms, meals and drinks are expensive.

Google
Overall another terrific stay at The Williamsburg Inn. Our suite was spacious, very clean and comfortable. Everything was in good working order and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We really loved the location of this particular room - it worked very well for our needs.||I must note that we were in a "Fido friendly" room and the room was still top notch even though it was one where your dog was allowed to stay. Mind you there is a hefty fee for the pup - but well worth it to ensure a first class experience.|Breakfast was a bit of an issue - the server walked out which really delayed everything in the dining room. That being said, when the food did arrive it was hot and mostly tasty. Cappuccinos were great. Corned beef hash was the only disappointment...it needs to be cooked a few more hours to achieve the right consistency.

This place was amazing. My husband and I enjoyed our stay. We loved the turndown service.Everyone was accommodating and was eager to assist us. The rooms were cozy comfortable the bed slept very well. I do have one small concern, and I think this establishment needs to know this.. you do have a problem with japanese ladybug beatles, they are in the rooms. They are not your usual ladybugs. These are an invasive species and they can bite.|They get in through the old style windows.Just make sure that they are checked and cleaned regularly.Otherwise this was an awesome place.

Google
The Williamsburg Inn is beautiful. The rooms and open areas are lovely. Staff are all polite and responsive to any and all concerns. The concierges are outstanding! They provide daily suggestions for events happening in the restored area. They provide tickets and lanyards so it is extremely convenient to avoid having to g to go to a ticket office. It is just one block from the restored area. We loved that we could step out of the Inn and were instantly back in time. It was so beautiful to walk in the illuminated streets of Colonial Williamsburg in the evening. It was a wonderful experience and the Inn made it special.

Yelp
Staff are amazingly cordial and helpful. They make you feel right at home. Ate our Dinner ai the Terrace Room and could not have been more pleased. Our waiter and other wait staff were incredibly attentive and sought to meet our every need. Food was perfectly prepared and plated beautifully. I can't imagine any area for improvement. I wish we could do this every night.

Yelp
Great place!! Staff were accommodating and pleasant. Would like to see a little more breakfast / snacks at the coffee shop onsite. However great local food places filled that gap! Place is clean, quant with a private balcony and fireplace. Fitness, Pool, great area to walk, and more! Check it out! We will be back for sure!

Yelp
We really enjoyed this hotel. It was our first stay and we were greeted with hospitality from the get go. The bellman was so charming and helpful. The check in staff was super sweet and easy to engage with. The hotel is lovely and exudes old southern charm. Our tastefully decorated room was very comfortable and spacious, with lots of natural lighting. Bathroom was tidy and nice. We did experience a bit of noise (room 3284), as it is located just above the side entrance, and just adjacent to the spiral staircase doors. It didn't interfere with sleep unless you're planning on a daytime nap. Housekeeping was very on top of things. It never took more than an hour or 2 for them to tackle our room after setting out the little sign. It was so nice to have easy access to colonial Williamsburg by foot. We enjoyed the complimentary tickets to the exhibits and all that the area had to offer, including a fabulous farmer's market on Saturday morning. Spa was nice but I'll admit I've had better massages elsewhere for similar pricing (ie Grove Park Inn in Asheville). Loved the onsite bars and restaurants. Kendall and William were spectacular at the outside bar. Kept me laughing the entire time we were there, while still maintaining professionalism and doing a very impressive job at keeping up with the steady stream of guests. A+ would absolutely be delighted to visit again in the future.

Yelp
Feb 16, 2019 Absolutely ridiculous that this hotel has a 4 star rating. If this hotel isn't a 5 star experience, I'm not sure what is. Yes, it isn't in the midst of a big city, but if it were, it would still be at the top. You are greeted by name whenever you enter or leave the hotel. Valet parking, but adjacent to the hotel, so easy to pop over and pick up extras in the car (one of the great reasons to drive). The outdoor patio was large, beautiful and faces a PGA golf course. Lunch, dinner, and an easy place to make new friends and enjoy yourself. The pools are terrific, and golf awaits if you chose. The property is rolling green hills and trees. The room was large, beautifully decorated, had a fireplace, and turn down service included classical music on the Bose stereo and after dinner drinks in the room, Room service, which were had several times was absolutely first-class !! Try finding all that in a large city hotel ! And none of this even covers the reason you are there in the first place, Colonial Williamsburg. The Historic area is wonderful, interesting and has the best taverns anywhere, and it's literally outside the front door. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and you leave as you entered, feeling gratified to have stayed in such a grand place. BTW, multiple dignitaries have stayed here as well, several Presidents, and the Queen. UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2025 We have been to the Williamsburg Inn 3 times. The first two trips in 2007 & 2017, the Inn was absolutely first class. The check-in was elegant, a glass of wine while we sat with the clerk in an office, the room was clean and the room service was fast and first rate. The door man knew us by name, and opened the door each time we came or went. The woman in charge of the outside patio was very kind to us and always found us a great table in spite of the crowd some times. Can you think of another hotel anywhere with such elegance ? When we returned in 2024, after the inn was taken over by an outside hotel chain, the check in was standard, and we had to wait 20 minutes just to find someone who could be bothered checking us in. The room, the exact same one we had in 2017, was beat up, and looked worn out compared to 2017, and the faucet dripped annoyingly the entire 5 day stay. When we asked for it to be fixed, they promised 3x, but no one ever came. So one day we went down to the concierge, and waited in line for another 20 minutes for a lady who promised, but didn't seem to care. The doorman never knew us, and never opened the door EVER (what exactly is a doorman for otherwise). The patio no longer had any one in charge, and it showed. Even breakfast was a clogged line instead of straight to our table as before. This is a gloried Motel 6 now, and the staff shows no signs of the courtesy and care it did the last two times. This could be any standard hotel anywhere, except the prices have gone up and you get FAR less in every regard. Shameful loss of a truly great hotel and experience. Once regarded as a famous 5-star hotel it is but a bleak shadow of that now. I can only imagine a year later (2025), it is showing its worn out seams even more. What's worse ? We have lost the excitement for our many stays and quick trips there and we probably will not go back or continue to contribute to Williamsburg because the grandeur and the pleasure of supporting such a classy place is now over. Sad days. Certainly reflects the Nation will live in as a whole doesn't it?

Yelp
This place is marvelous! Went for the 4th & hung out mostly at the tranquility pool. Service was unparalleled. Mike at the pool bar was a dream. Very friendly and kept me coming back for more! (Lol) Poor guys smile was practically melting off his face because of the poor ventilation at his work station. I'm from California where there is dry heat. It's like soup in VA!!! Highly recommended! Say hello to Mike if you ever find yourself here~

Yelp
We had a fabulous stay at the historic houses at Williamsburg Inn. The spa services were fantastic. We had an amazing NYE dinner in the Rockefeller Room. The meal was outstanding! The staff at the Inn are always helpful and attentive. My only disappointment was that the pool was out of service. We will be back again!

Yelp
I'd like to agree that the Williamsburg Inn is a 5 Star property, but it's outdoor spaces are always in sorry state. There are broken patio chairs, the furniture is often not kept arranged, guests move tables and chairs and leave glassware and dishes, they don't pickup afterwords, but then neither does the manager or Grounds supervisor.Very sad state behind this historic inn.

Yelp
The room was amazing. Everything was spotless. The staff was welcoming and helped plan activities for our visit. The Inn now has a nice bar area. While we did not partake at the bar, it appeared well stocked. On your next special trip, visit the Williamsburg Inn.

Yelp
What a wonderful Mother's Day gift from our daughter to her mother, and I had the pleasure of enjoying the gift as well. My Grubbing Buddy received a weekend stay at the Williamsburg Inn. Not since our stay at the Graylyn Estates located in Winston-Salem, NC have we enjoyed such an upscale hotel stay. not only were the accommodations but the check-in staff and the Inn's concierges were both helpful and pleasant. Our room was both comfortable and relaxing. Because I am a heavy coffee drinker, the Nespresso coffee machine was a pleasant sight, and served along with the high-end water bottles, Saratoga Natural Spring Water made my morning coffee even nicer. a plush white cotton robe and slippers for us both made our stay even more pleasant. and I've had chocolates lifted on our pillows after turndown but how about chocolate and liqueur "Disaronno" with two beautiful tiny liqueur glasses, I would tell you how good the chocolate and liqueur were, but they were both gone when I came out the shower. My Grubbing Buddy had no idea where it all went. While everything about the Williamsburg Inn was extra ordinary and high-end I would definitely do it all again. Thanks to our daughter we were both introduced to this delightful Inn in Williamsburg.

Yelp
It started off nice and I was impressed with the quality and service, however, it went down hill. We are here during a heat wave - the hotel is a very comfortable 68 degrees throughout, except for our room... which stayed in the mid 80s. Our a/c went out on the second night of a three night stay. The hallway was cold, our room was hot. We woke up sweating in a stuffy hot room. The first time I reached out for help nobody answered the phone, so I went downstairs to the concierge who seemed put out that I complained. Maintenance came up and realized that there was no air coming in, and went to the roof to fix it. When he returned he said he had to unfreeze the system and it should cool off shortly. We went to dinner hoping it would be cooler when we returned. It was not - there is still no air coming from the vents. We asked if something could be done, we were told no, that we should close the curtains to keep the sun out (they were closed). They suggested a fan. The gentleman that brought the fan even noted how warm the room was, but wanted to put the fan in the room. I put it out in the hallway and blew the cold air in. The concierge didn't think it was a good idea, leaving your door open which they said "didn't sound very safe". I agree, but the alternative is to stay in a sweltering room, since they won't fix it or move us. As I write this we have waved to several people who peer in our room as we have the door open and fan on to keep it cool. It is well after 1am and I'll have to close the door soon so I can go to sleep, but I'll wake up in a sweltering room in the morning. It really is a lovely property, nicely appointed & the service staff is friendly, but the room was not hospitable. We paid for a premium room for our anniversary trip, but I'm regretting the choice of this hotel. Luxury? Pricewise, sure, but certainly not that level of experience. GO ELSWHERE.

Yelp
My family and I just returned home from the Thanksgiving holidays which we spent in Williamsburg. VA. This has been on my mom's "bucket list" for years and we were excited to make it happen this year, making the trip out from southern California. We made a 4pm reservation for the Regency Room buffet at the Williamsburg Inn based on the amazing reviews and the wide variety of the menu which would appeal to our group of 5- 4 adults and 1 child. I was concerned that our 4pm reservation was too late for Thanksgiving Day but the lady on the phone assured me that while that was the last seating, the food was always being refreshed and it would be the same as eating earlier in the day- there would be no difference in the experience. We showed up for our reservation on Thanksgiving Day and were told our table was not quite ready- no problem! 5-10 minutes later our party of 5 is taken to a 72" round table that is set for 10 people. We weren't sure if they had our reservation wrong, if another party was joining us, etc. Seating a party of 5 at a table of 10 means we either sit in every other chair to be able to see each other and possibly talk (over an extremely oversized table) or we sit at one end which does not allow for great dinner conversation. When I inquired about getting another table I was told it is better to be at a table that is too big than one that is too small- easy to say when you're not paying $100 a head for dinner. We were surprised to learn we could not order alcoholic drinks through our server but instead had to go on a wild goose chase through the room. The fact that you are celebrating a formal holiday in this beautiful room and then you have to walk across the room to a woman sitting behind a table to buy a drink ticket to then walk across the way to actually place your drink order at a makeshift bar was definitely strange- not to mention a hassle for the senior citizens in our party. Our server clearly did not want to be working that day as he made little effort in interacting with us other than to tell us what was on the buffet. Tea and coffee requests were made a minimum of 3 three times- twice with our server and once with another server- and it still took nearly 30 minutes to get either. If the room had been packed and the staff were working their tails off, or if they had simply said, it will be a while- we get it. But the room was not even a 1/4 filled and there were plenty of staff just standing around, moving at a snails pace. As for the food, the salad, seafood and cheese station were delicious! But unfortunately, all of the food on the dinner buffet- from the soup, to the meats, to the sides were all cold- not even lukewarm. It was such a disappointment. I mentioned to the server ladling the soup (after I had tasted mine) that it was cold and she just looked at me with a blank stare. Not to mention that you were serving prime rib (albeit cold) with no horseradish. The dessert buffet was a mess- I wish I had taken a picture. The Ice cream was literally a puddle of milk which no one had cared to tidy or replace (for a good amount of time) and there were only 2 desserts left out of the 5 mentioned on the menu- so much for replenishing. . All the buffet tables were out of plates by 4:30pm with no server noticing and it took some time to get new plates out. Lastly, I guess the entertainment was only booked until 4pm because there was lovely live music being played as we took our seats at our oversized table but by the time we figured out that we were not going to be able to move the music had stopped and by 4:10pm he had packed up his instrument and left. The whole experience was not only disappointing, it was awful. Especially when you take into consideration how far we traveled, the money spent, and the fact, that this is now our holiday memory for 2024. The only person we could find to talk to after we left the room was the manager for another dining room- I believe it was the Terrace room but to be honest, I was so frustrated and disgusted with the whole thing that I didn't want to get into it there nor was it under his watch. Save yourself the disappointment and do not book a holiday meal here!

Yelp
Um, very friendly service but VERY"meh" food. Quite expensive for mediocre food and there are very definitely much better restaurants in Williamsburg. Opus 9, definitely Fat Canary come to mind as being far superior. We enjoyed the lounge for pre dinner cocktails but dinner was disappointing. Sorry to write this but diners need to know.

Yelp
This review is for the "Restoration Bar" which is the hotel's bar at the entrance of their restaurant. It's not a large area, but boy does it make up for it in terms of luxury. It was early on a January evening and already quite full. Mainly because it is just a small spot. We just grabbed seats at the bar and enjoyed watching the bartender in action. I went ahead and ordered the "Inn's Ginn & Tonic" which was their take on a G&T. Wow, it was fantastic! Refreshing. Crisp. Perfect. The ingredients: Bombay Sapphire Gin, Lavender Bitters, Cucumber, Rosemary, Juniper, Lime, Lemon. It is now highly recommended by me.

Yelp
High Tea on a Sunday afternoon was beyond a pleasure. Can't wait to do it again. Being in the dining room brings back childhood memories.

Yelp
I have stayed at many high end hotels all over the country and the Williamsburg Inn rates up there with the best. From the minute you walk in you are greeted with the warmest hospitality and assistance (shout out to Rupert). The property is old but flawlessly maintained. There is charm in every part of the building . We dined at the Terrace Room. It was an amazing experience and as delicious as any big city establishment I have ever visited. They were kid friendly and the service was impeccable. The turndown service was also a nice treat, priming us to enjoy our well appointed room for the remainder of the night. Even though we visited in the cold of winter, the two fireplaces were roaring in the main lobby. The grounds are perfect for an evening stroll and the proximity to everything Williamsburg is unmatched. We will definitely be back, can't be soon enough!

Yelp
Check in was a little fumbled as we arranged an early check in but when we got there, no note was made of it. Rooms could be darker to help sleeping in. We stayed in a suite and everything else was wonderful. The service is outstanding

Lainie F.

Yelp
Sadly if I could give zero starts I would have. This week we waited for 45 minutes to buy a bottle of champagne and the bartenders were extremely rude and we ultimately weren't given the champagne. A loss for both parties -- a large tip for them considering the quality of the champagne and a loss for us that we were never served. Do not recommend coming here.

Yelp
We've stayed at many Colonial Williamsburg (CW) properties including in houses right on Duke of Gloucester (DOG) street ... but this most recent stay in Williamsburg Inn takes the cake. We booked a suite because we thought we'd have a child in tow, but as a result of some last minute sports-meet logistics, she stayed at home. We showed up a bit early before our room was ready, but they happily provided a parking pass so that we could park in the lot and wander down to Merchant's square and grab a bite. There is access to ONE (very slow) electric car charger in the lot, but sadly it was in use when we got there. Fortunately it opened up when we returned later once our rooms were ready. The room was clean, spacious, and gorgeous. Maybe it had something to do with the room we chose, but we received a porcelain tray as a gift when we walked in! Our first evening we wandered out to the patio and enjoyed a few absolutely delicious drinks -- I had the Rockefeller Manhattan and a Martinez, while my wife tried the Strawberry Fields. We were also treated to an absolutely fantastic singer/guitarist until 9pm (which is when the patio bar closes). Our second night we ended up having a small late dinner - the burger with Cheddar Pimento Cheese (a messy but delicious concoction), and the grilled caesar. The caesar was admittedly a bit small with sliced anchovies on the side ... but I wasn't hungry so it fit the bill well. Perhaps the coolest thing about our experience though was the thoughtful drinks they left us at night with the turn down service. A full arrangement of tall glasses, bottled still water AND ice in the living room and on the bed a nightcap - Disaronno one night, Bailey's the other. Meanwhile everyone we ran into from housekeeping, check-in staff, bartenders, waiters ... everyone, was great. We found out that our waiter during dinner was enjoying his FIRST shift. Shocking. He was stellar and seemed well practiced. Looking for a place to stay very close to CW and not too price sensitive? This is your place.

Yelp
It's a beautiful, customer oriented place to stay & enjoy our past history! It is like stepping back in time. I wish America could still be same as I our founding Father's setup. Unfortunately, present government is eliminating our basic freedoms under the Constitution!

Yelp
On Father's Day 2024 my wife & enjoyed a delicious Sunday Brunch in The Restoration Room. Cindy selected the Filet with Scrambled Eggs & I opted for the Country Ham and Poached eggs, both of which were delicious. Sharon, or waitperson, patiently explained several selections and options. She was courteous, personal, professional, and polite. Sharon, thank you for serving up delicious, fresh, hot meals. We will celebrate our anniversary next Sunday, June 23rd, and dine at The Inn again. We made reservations and asked to be seated in your area. Sharon, thank you for your exceptional service today and for ensuring our meals were delicious fresh and hot. Cindy and I look forward to seeing you next Sunday. Regards, Damon E Gates

Yelp
Careful....when you pay high prices, you expect consistent service. Not what we encountered. We stayed in a tavern room and room was nice enough. Ice machine didn't work and 3 calls to front desk, we were finally able to enjoy a cocktail in our room. Christiana Campbell Tavern was disappointing from the weak drink, to terrible service . Food was ok but for the prices? Kings Arms tavern was much better service, drinks, food and overall experience. Our waiter Martin was exceptional. We rate all these things because we had a package.

Meg D.

Yelp
Beautiful location but the organization has seriously eroded since post-COVID. All of the little aspects that made it a luxury stay seem to have been replaced with overwhelmed staff and lack of management. This used to be a nice treat but there are more affordable, better service provider alternatives in the area now. Hopefully they can recover what has been lost, but I'm not too hopeful. The spa is wonderful however and I highly recommend it, but bring back the snacks!

Yelp
We just left the inn and I miss it already! We had the BEST stay. The staff was friendly, helpful and courteous, the rooms were clean, the beds are comfortable. The restaurants were wonderful as well. We have already booked to come back in December!

David C.

Yelp
The hotel and grounds are truly beautiful, the service and food are always great. Unfortunately the outdoor spaces of this property and The Griffin Hotel adjacent to the inn,are often not in a tidy appearance for these hotels. Outdoor often is left in dissaray, glasses and napkins left outdoors overnight and upholstered seating is usually a mess as well. No one is check8ng these areas so guests can use them.

Karen L.

Yelp
This is one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. We enjoy traveling "well" and have stayed on a great number of 5-star properties. The Inn at Williamsburg is right at the top. The hospitality and warmth of the staff are unparalleled. The appointments and finishes throughout the hotel are beautiful (we didn't say in the room but we even got a peak into the Queen Elizabeth suite). The food was delicious and the concierge helped us plan the perfect itinerary for the park! If only they could have turned down the heat and humidity outside (it was COOKING HOT the whole time we were in Virginia - LOL). We will most certainly be back! THANK YOU.

Alexis H.

Yelp
Check in was very poor. An older gentleman who has worked there for 40 years was very helpful but others we dealt with were rude and dismissive. We spoke with several people when making the reservation about the package upgrade and made it clear it was for our wedding weekend as well as making a note in the online booking that we needed to get into our room on time for our rehearsal dinner. Nothing was done for us. When our room was finally ready after 7 pm (unacceptable after traveling a great distance to stay at the Inn for a promised 4 pm check in), we returned after our rehearsal dinner with me wearing a white dress and the evening front desk staff asked me how I was associated with this booking. LOL. You can imagine how that came across after multiple, repeated attempts to communicate the nature of the weekend. I wish we could recommend others to stay at the Inn without hesitation as the room was comfortable and every need was attended to after check in but we cannot. It soured our big weekend and we will unfortunately remember how the desk staff seemed to have no idea who their guests were despite constant communication about it. Very disappointed.

Yelp
One of the worst places we have ever eaten at. We are local and continually try to "give it a try." Two nights ago it took us TWO AND A HALF HOURS to be served. 45 minutes to get menus. When the food was served half of the meals where cold. The most amazing thing was that IT WAS NOT BUSY. For my wife and I the tab was $180. ( split a salad, 2 glasses of wine, 2 beers, burger and a pizza). Worst service I have ever had. The last time we where there the manager grabbed us and asked "are you walking out on your bill?" You want to eat here. You are crazy.

Yelp
Very nice upscale dinner place. Food was excellent and service was excellent. I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
This is where all the good food is hiding in Williamsburg. Best brunch in town! The service and grand finale were well worth the price!!!

Yelp
The crown jewel of historic Williamsburg. Visited by Presidents, dignitaries, executives, honeymooners, history buffs for years, it captures the history of the surroundings and infuses it with luxury. If just dining at the inn, the fare is traditional and exquisite, with something for most tastes and palates. Step out of the norm and cherish the majesty of the Williamsburg Inn - you remember it always.

Yelp
We went to the Terrace Restaurant across from the Rockefeller Room. I ordered a Whiskey Hot Toddy. It was a bit strong for me. I then ordered the Rum Hot Toddy and it was just right. Warm cider with a slice of lemon and a cinnamon stick. $13.00 for the drink. Then I had the Wagyu burger with onion relish, homemade pickles, Gouda cheese, topped with fresh greens. It was very tasty but the fries with it weren't memorable. I asked for ketchup and never got it. The server was HORRIBLE! She had a terrible attitude and was constantly trying to rush us. It ruined my experience! I'm not looking forward to ever returning. I gave her less than 10% for a tip and I rarely do this. I really did not care for that young woman and I cannot understand how she makes money with her attitude! We were there on Sunday December 8th.

Yelp
I stayed at the Inn 50 years ago and it is as grand and wonderful today as it was back then. Impeccable service in a wonderful location. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, it everything was open and maid service is limited. Understandable however. We will be back next year for sure!

Yelp
Unfortunately I needed to cancel my reservation. I was hoping to stay there in the future. I called a few weeks ago and the reservations agent tried to get me to rebook. I didn't have dates yet I asked for a refund of my deposit. I never received an email cancellation nor a refund. I contacted them again. They claim it was canceled but refused to give me proof. I explained the credit never came through. They transferred me to the front desk that blamed American Express. I asked again for proof. Never received it. I had to call American Express and dispute the initial charge. Not very comforting.

Yelp
I discovered this place after looking at different destinations to travel to. After coming across Colonial Williamsburg, I found this place online, and from the pictures, it looked spectacular. When first walking in to the inn, I was overcome by the amazing beauty of the place, with beautiful chandeliers and paintings embedded onto the walls. I walked into the room I was staying at, and was shocked after seeing how pretty the room was, and how clean and pristine it looked. Two chocolates were put on a pillow, along with a quote from Thomas Jefferson. Robes were even put in the bathroom. Additionally, a dish was given to my family, which was very kindly. After walking and discovering the grounds of the inn, I found two beautiful pools. The fitness room was also very spacious. The next morning, after arriving at the inn, I decided to try the breakfast that the inn had. The food was delicious and beautifully displayed. I throughly enjoyed the pancakes, that were sprinkled with powdered sugar, and extra layers of chocolate chips. Overall, besides the amazing breakfast and views, the people in the inn are very kind, and I haven't had a single problem with anything in this inn. This was an amazing experience, and I recommend this inn as a place to go!

Yelp
Just left the Restoration Bar after sitting at a table for 15 minutes or so without so much as a glance from the several staff who passed us, including, I am pretty sure, a manager, and for sure a bartender. Was it busy on a Friday evening? Sure. But you had to practically walk over us to navigate to the table that did receive attention. And then walk BACK over us (figuratively) to go back to the hostess stand. We just wanted to enjoy a drink and the ambiance, but the lack of attention drove us to leave for a more attentive place. It will be a while before we attempt another visit.

Yelp
Ate here with our folks and would go back to experience with just the wife to enjoy it even more. Ambiance is great. Out door seating in either an enclosed tent or outside with or without a fire pit. Grounds are beautiful and the inn is gorgeous. Service was on point. Manager Michael is a super star especially dealing with certain family members that can prove difficult for some. Our server did well also. Food, it wasn't bad. The charcuterie board was ok. Pumpkin like soup was good. The burgers were ok, a tad dry. The steak sirloin was good but the yellow foam on the plate was odd and looked like our dogs vomit but the Béarnaise sauce was good. It has 5 star potential if IMO the menu shapes up a bit more. We'll be back!

Yelp
Exquisitely set in the colonial area of Williamsburg the Williamsburg Inn offers fantastic grounds, fabulous interiors and fine gourmet food at a surprisingly affordable price. I thoroughly recommend the ham pate with home made locally grown peanut chutney... i mentioned to my waitress how good the chutney was she said I could buy some there... however she asked for my email address and the head chef emailed me the recipe within 10 minutes. Fantastic food in a wonderful setting, well worth the visit when you are in the area soaking in Colonial America..

Yelp
We always like to visit the Inn when we come to Williamsburg. This is like stepping back in time to enjoy the iconic elegance of another era. Even if you are not staying at the Inn, you should at least come for a visit. We were happy to catch the Inn decorated for Christmas. The exterior greenery was covered with tiny lights as well as the 3 large Christmas trees over the portico. It was tastefully done. There was a real, roaring fire in the entrance hall which was so inviting and warming. The floral arrangements over the interior arches were spectacular. The tree and accompanying display seemed smaller to me than in previous years. We were sorry to learn that they no longer have a gift shop.

Yelp
Premium place to stay and dine in CW. We enjoyed the afternoon tea. Comfortable lobby to lounge in. We really enjoyed CW - everything is so close but their is a shuttle if needed.

Yelp
We stayed in the main hotel for 2 nights. The staff were all very helpful, courteous and professional. Alexander , at the front , should really be tour guide ! He was very helpful and recommended great places to eat and visit during our stay The room was very nice , newly remodeled with charming furniture. We were not impressed by the restaurant at the hotel , however ! I definitely recommend this hotel and will sure come back Thank you for making our stay so pleasant

Yelp
This review is for the afternoon tea, which was simply absurd. We had reservations for 3:00. We arrived at 2:50 and were asked to wait in the lobby, which we did. At 3:00 when they came to seat us, we were the only people in the room so we weren't sure why we were asked to wait when they could have seated us when we arrived. There were no less than five servers literally standing around either doing nothing or cleaning, such as using a sweeper, while we're dining. My friend and I ordered the tea and scones, which were $18 per person. We received two sugar crystal-encrusted baked goods that were clearly not scones, or at least were not scones that should be served at tea at a resort. The scones were what you would commonly get at a grocery store or franchise coffee house. Certainly not homemade or fresh baked. Very disappointing. Along with the brick-like scones, we received two strawberries, one of which was inedible, and some grapes, most of which were inedible because they were old and rotten. (Photos below) The tea was enough for two cups, but nothing impressive. So for $18 we each got one scone and two cups of tea. There was one edible strawberry and maybe eight edible grapes. Don't know if their idea of tea is supposed to be representative of English tea, but it clearly is not even close. Disappointing atmosphere and even more disappointing food with a ridiculous price attached that they took the liberty to auto-gratuity.

Yelp
One of the most phenomenal hotels in our country. Not only is it gorgeous but full of history. While the colonial portion of the city is divine all on its own the Inn is a step back in time in a manner that is nothing short of divine. The afternoon tea is a must as the food is delectable and the service is impeccable. If able request Sharon as her attention to detail and kindness is beyond compare. Another lovely experience at the Williamsburg Inn.

Yelp
On Dec 27 we had reservations through Open Table and they messed up the reservations. Arrived early and asked desk if possible to get seated early was told No that won't happen Went to bar area and had a glass of wine everyone around us was assisted by a server except us. We had to ask for appetizers. When we asked the server said we were not her table We were told for 30 minutes they were setting up our table, when we were finally seated server was friendly but slow others seated after us received there food at the same time as us or before Food was overcooked and NOT hot. My grandson said the chicken nuggets and fries were the best he had ever had We had guests from out of state and I was embarrassed to tell them it was supposed to be a great restaurant. We will never go back or bring anyone there again

Yelp
We came here for tea while in colonial williamsburg. It is a nice break from all the walking. Tea service was good- not the tastiest Ive had but not bad. They have a ham pate sandwich as part of the tea which I think is a nice touch considering we are in Virginia. It is a nice experience while in the area.

Yelp
Luxurious and historic, with a perfect location to access the park by foot. We came here with young children & had a great time. Breakfast included with our stay which was almost the highlight of every day.

Yelp
This review is solely for the Williamsburg Inn bar. As a Williamsburg local who grew up in the area we always loved and made it a tradition to visit the Inn and grab a few drinks every year to see the holiday decorations. For the past two years we've had consistent issues as it relates to the staff at the bar. Most recently we called ahead (due to COVID), and asked the front desk what time they were serving drinks til; the front desk informed us 10pm, great! We arrived around 8:45pm after dinner, found a place to sit and approached the bar. The lady behind the bar, did not make eye contact but snapped saying they closed at 9pm. Extremely rude and unprofessional, if I was an actual guest it would've played out differently, but with all of the OTHER non-CW options in the area we ventured elsewhere to spend our money. Highly highly disappointing customer experience, and I can see why the areas so depressed. +1 star for the holiday lights, that's about it.

Yelp
Review for Providence Inn Guest Halls, which is sort of an adjunct to the main Williamsburg Inn but for which the check-in is done via the main hall. There does not seem to be a separate Yelp entry for the Providence Hall, even though you book them separately, but since it's basically one business entity with the Williamsburg Inn, maybe it doesn't rate a separate entry. We picked this spot for a one-day fly-by visit of Wiliamsburg based on the recommendation of a friend as being convenient to the Revolutionary City and family-friendly, and on that front it gets very high marks. You can get passes via the concierge at the main Inn, and it is very, very convenient if time is of the essence, as you can literally walk across the street to the main attraction. There are also some odd amenities included: tennis court time, lawn bowling, and things like a lotion sampler and a cocktail hour. The rooms in the Providence are large (we slept four in one, with a rollaway) and are in a lovely setting. The rooms are set up so you have a fair amount of privacy, with a view out the back to some semi-natural areas, and your own balcony in most of the rooms without much of a view of any neighbors. The rooms were fairly quiet, too. That said, the rooms are showing their age and 60-70s vintage. We had a drippy shower, a somewhat damp odor about the place, and despite the attempt at homey pseudo-revolutionary decor, it was sort of an odd room. There's also a lack of modern amenities (POWER OUTLETS, please) and despite being able to get 24 hour room service, very little in the way of room comforts. And...gross out alert...if you're not going to use fitted sheets on a bed, you BETTER MAKE SURE THERE'S NO GIGANTIC RED STAIN ON ONE OF THE MATTRESSES. Ugh. The worst part was finding it in the morning, instead of the night before, after the non-fitted sheets had slid off. Staff are responsive and obsequious (in the old school sense; be prepared to tip, we got bellman service via a _car_, from the main desk to our outlying building, which I've never experienced before) and very good at what they do, although they're dong a softsell/hardsell on staying longer. We had breakfast at the Terrace Room, which was white glove service in the old southern style which I haven't personally experienced in 30 years. It's one of those must-do type things, if you can afford a $71 breakfast. I'd be very much inclined to give this a higher rating based on earnestness, but for the price, the rooms were very much substandard despite the staff's efforts to make them seem like a four-star resort. We did appreciate the convenience but at double the price for a motel up the street, the convenience factor only took us so far.

Yelp
Old world charm, first class service. We will return.Thank you for a great stay, great food. The property is magnificent (building and the gardens). You can walk directly into colonial Williamsburg. colonial Williamsburg is an important place in the United States, and The Williamsburg Inn adds significantly to the downtown area.

Yelp
My husband and I had our wedding reception here, and everything was beautiful. With my crazy amount of questions, last-minute changes, and other addition of details, all were followed through and things turned out wonderfully. The staff here are amazing, attentive, and very organized. The food? Impeccable - we had offered a selection of either halibut or a filet mignon, both cooked to perfection, seasoned extremely well, and delicious - all of our guests were pleased (thank the Lord!)! I've heard that the Queen stayed here a couple of times when she comes to visit (how crazy is that?!) - this place reeks of elegance, sophistication, but none of the pretentiousness, as everyone treats you as a guest, even if you're just stopping by to take pictures. I love the decor, the furniture, the cleanliness, and the overall look of this place. It's so majestic, and we were fortunate to have a memorable event here. +beautiful inn!!! :D +great venue space
