Williamsburg Lodge

"Steps away from historic Colonial Williamsburg, brick buildings connected by covered walkways make up this "charming lodge" designed in the 1930s by the Rockefellers. Interiors are characterized by folk art, original bluestone floors, and cypress accents. "Gorgeous British colonial–style rooms have spa-like bathrooms," a palette of reds and blues, and quilted beds. At the restaurant, indulge in contemporary American cuisine that is "nothing short of gourmet," with an emphasis on Chesapeake seafood and local wines. "Staff, from the doorman to the desk help, are very helpful and gracious." The spa is "everything a spa should be" and includes aromatherapy rooms and whirlpools."

Southern Food Bar Shutters in East Village — and More Closings | Eater NY

How Jim Didn't Let a New Disability Change His Travels

"I took my wife there for our 34th anniversary and arrived to find three steps down into the dining room and the nearby elevator inoperable; staff escorted me through the kitchen and down a ramp into the dining area, so while the entrance presented an accessibility challenge, the staff provided an effective workaround." - Matthew Kepnes

We had a wonderful stay at the Williamsburg Lodge, located right in Colonial Williamsburg. The property is beautiful, well maintained, and perfectly situated—close to everything while still feeling relaxing and peaceful. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the atmosphere blended historic charm with modern comfort. We were especially impressed by the honesty and professionalism of the staff. We accidentally left about $200 in cash in a very obvious place in our room, and housekeeping did not touch a thing. That level of integrity truly stood out and meant a lot to us. The staff overall was friendly and attentive throughout our stay, making everything feel seamless. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.

We have stayed at The Lodge five times before without incident and, obviously, enjoyed it enough to return. And, in spite of what happened this trip we are likely to return for our next visit to Williamsburg.|I booked a 7 night stay in a Junior Suite the end of December 2024. The required deposit of over $650 was posted to my credit card on January 2, 2025. During the month of December 2025 I received multiple emails from The Lodge about our upcoming arrival on December 10. When I tried to check-in the afternoon of the 10th, I was told they couldn't accommodate us in the reserved room. I was offered a smaller room without any other compensation or explanation. I pointed out I made the reservation almost a year earlier, paid a deposit, and by the terms of the contract, had I been the one to renege I would have lost my deposit. I was then told I could have the reserved Jr. Suite for the first night but would then have to vacate to a different room. I might have understood if someone else who was in the room refused to vacate, or if the computer system had overbooked, but this made no sense to me. After about 20 minutes of managers talking behind a closed door (literally) I was told we could have the room I reserved a year earlier for all 7 nights. |The rest of the stay went without incident. Housekeeping and restaurant staff are very friendly. Multiple food options within the hotel and a nice gift shop. The location is outstanding, just a very short walk to the heart of happenings in Williamsburg. The Jr. Suite itself is two rooms with ample space. Very comfortable mattress. (We prefer firm over soft and this one suited us.) Two sinks in the large bathroom. The HVAC system is unbelievably quiet. The Fitness Room across the street at The Inn is top notch. On the downside, there is only one thermostat for both rooms. Two other big disappointments - the wooden floors creak loudly with every step, especially in the bedroom and there is no view. We have been in four different Jr. Suite rooms over the years and only one of the four had a view out the window of something other than a rooftop.|So, all in all, if location is your primary concern, you couldn't do better if you are seeking a hotel environment. Clean, comfortable (except for creaking floors), convenient breakfast option, friendly auxiliary staff.

We had an excellent stay at the Williamsburg Lodge in the Ashby Guesthouse. Our room was clean, and we enjoyed learning about the Ashby family as we climbed the steps. The location is excellent, and we had no trouble with parking. The staff during check in and throughout our stay were very helpful and friendly. We did not eat at the lodge so cannot speak to the food options, but there are plenty of options in the local area which was nice. Unfortunately, I did try calling for assistance with reservations a few days before our stay and got hung up on. I believe this was an accident and was meant to be put on hold though.

First time visiting Colonial Williamsburg (kinda’ as I’ve been to William & Mary for a football game, and had absolutely no idea I was here! lol This trip, the hubs and I stopped by specifically to explore Colonial Williamsburg and a stay at the Lodge was our choice. The property is great with nice food and beverage options. We dined at both onsite restaurants— Sweet Tea & Barley for dinner, as well as Traditions for breakfast and enjoyed both. We stayed in the Tyler Guesthouse which I was told was more modern. Our room was nice, clean, and had an outdoor patio with seating. The staff was kind, shouts out to Phoebe who checked me in, was quite knowledgeable, and gave a great rundown of all of the offerings on site as well as details on the included free tickets to visit Colonial Williamsburg (the living museum). We took full advantage of everything. All in all, a great stay and I’d absolutely revisit the property. Cheers!

Google
It feels historic, though I don't know if it is. The rooms are confusing to find, even after finding your own once or twice. Different buildings lead to a maze-like layout. The lounge was o.k., with generous drinks and some ambience, but I left my nice Stetson when we left, never to be found again. My loss. Our room was rudimentary and simple and sparsely furnished. Very tiny bathroom, but functional. Strange drapery mechanism awkward to utilize. Floors and walls all pine wood with aged clear finish. Cozy, kind of. Squeaky walking a given. The bed was surprisingly comfy and accommodating, so that elevated the overall impression for us. Location was pretty good, about better part of a mile to get to the marketplace, where we experienced another annual feast at the Fat Canary. So,so good there. A craft fair was unexpected but enjoyed on the way to the marketplace.

Google
I really wanted to love Williamsburg Lodge because the rooms and the location are honestly amazing. Everything about the stay itself was comfortable, clean, and convenient. The only downside was our experience at the Barley restaurant. It’s a pretty small space and didn’t accommodate our larger party well, even though we had a reservation and they knew we were coming. The bartender made great drinks, but her attitude toward our group was rough from the moment we walked in. We were polite, not loud, and tipped well, so it was disappointing to feel unwelcome. I’d definitely stay here again for the rooms and location and really hope the restaurant service improves because it could be much better, especially during a special Williamsburg event (like Illumination for us yesterday).

Google
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The main building and the aesthetics of the property were gorgeous. The location was right on the edge of the main routes in colonial Williamsburg. Perfect for those travelling to the area to experience the history! The rooms were nice, but I didn't feel as if they were attempting to capture the essence of the colonial side of Williamsburg as much as I'd like. But as a place to stay, it was more than enough. All the food (2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 1 dinner) we had during our conference was delicious.

Google
We spent 3 nights at this hotel while visiting the historic area of Williamsburg. The Lodge is in a great location, just a block from the historic sites. It's easy to walk to the sites as well as restaurants. All of the staff are very helpful.||Check in was fairly easy but they initially gave us the wrong keys. It was easily fixed. We like the junior suites in the main building as they are spacious, offering a separate bedroom. Our room was clean and well maintained. Housekeeping is provided daily, which we appreciate. When we arrived, the safe was not functioning. I reported this when we left for dinner but it was not repaired until the following day. We had stayed in the same room on a prior visit and I did notice that the shower head, which was loose the first time, remains in a similar condition. It seems like this should have been repaired.||Parking on the property is $30 per day, which seems a little excessive since it used to be included in the room rate.||Overall, we enjoy this property and recommend it.

Yelp
I visited Williamsburg recently with two friends and one of my friends chose Williamsburg Lodge for our stay. The hotel is easy to find and a large property. The parking is kind of a pain, you need to use a garage around the corner and it seems like it could be larger and more convenient but it does the job. There are multiple parts and areas of the hotel so make sure you are paying attention to the map they give you. There are multiple stores and restaurants on site. The check in was fine and the staff nice. The rooms are large and clean and the hotel is within walking distance to pretty much all of the activities.

Yelp
Great hotel and location right in the heart of Williamsburg, within walking distance from the famous Merchants Square. This hotel had several different buildings, each with their own exterior courtyard and interior sitting areas. The beds were comfortable, noise level minimal, and room temperature nice and cool. I loved the feeling of stepping back in time into idyllic and charming Williamsburg which made my family's entire stay relaxing and pleasant. One complaint I have with the hotel is their EV charging amenity. They advertised themselves as having complementary EV charging, but really there was only 1 functional EV charger across the street from the main lodge. There are other "EV charging spots" in the garage but these spots only had electrical outlets for you to plug your own charger in. This to me wasn't really "EV charging," and the low charging speed from the outlets meant you'd have to park and charge continuously for a full day or 2 for you to fully charge your car. Still, this was a fantastic hotel stay and my family and I really enjoyed it. We look forward to coming back again in the near future!

Yelp
We stayed at this historical house as part of the Williamsburg Inn collection. We came with another couple and had ample space.

Yelp
I spent four days and three nights attending a work conference, and my experience was nothing short of fantastic. The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional, the cuisine was flawlessly seasoned, and the accommodations were exceedingly comfortable. On the first day, I encountered some WiFi issues, but Brittany and Curtis, one of the managers, were incredibly helpful and kind in resolving the issue. The property's proximity to historical attractions and William & Mary College made exploring the area rich in history a breeze.

Yelp
Wonderful property. Staff were excellent, and the rooms were clean, spacious and well appointed. You cannot beat the proximity to the major historic attractions of Colonial Williamsburg. Only detractor was a lack of communication between the property and their restaurants where the servers were not trained on the packages being sold and every meal that was included in our package was a debate at the table requiring me to have to call the front desk. Awkward and off putting in front of my companions, to say the least.

Yelp
The hotel staff is lovely and the location is great, but the rooms are not so great (or at least the room we stayed in). We had a flashing light from the smoke detector keeping us up all night (previously covered by duct tape) and found something that looked like blood from a previous guest in the shower drain area...we only stayed one night, otherwise we would've asked to move rooms. I mentioned these issues at check out and they didn't do anything except say they'd take a look. Unfortunately, we'll be staying elsewhere next time.

Yelp
I made reservations months ahead of our actual stay. I will say this process was frustrating. We signed up for A Weekend to Remember which gives us a discount for the rooms. Upon reserving spots for this seminar, I was unable to book rooms online. I had to physically call the front desk of this hotel to make reservations. Fast forward months to November. I had the opportunity to check in online the day of, which I did, and it made our check in process that much faster and easier. I was disappointed that we had 2 queen sized beds instead of 1 king which is what I requested. The room was clean. The bathroom was clean and had all the items we needed. I wish I could say the shower was wonderful but it was not. It was horrible. The drain was the size of a half dollar that did not drain well. The shower pressure was almost non existent. There was no pressure. I almost called the front desk to alert someone but I figured we were only staying two nights that we would suck it up. The lodge itself was beautiful. It was very spacious and had a lot of ballrooms to hold whatever gathering they were hosting, but the bathroom in the rooms were not good. Will we stay here again if in the area? probably not. I don't regret staying here, just chalk it up to a "one and done" kind of thing.

Yelp
Stayed here with wife over night during memorial day. It was a great location for Colonial williamsburg. Everything is walking distance. The hotel has a great colonial feel while maintaining the class. There is gift shops, convenient shops, and restaurants within the hotel. The concierge can connect you with multiple restaurants and other excursions in the area. There are local shuttles to take you around the area. Staff is helpful and very polite. Price for rooms are fitting for experience and quality of hotel and rooms.

Yelp
We made reservations at Traditions in the Williamsburg Lodge since they had a Sunday brunch which looked fantastic on their advertising. When we get there Oct 1, no Sunday brunch. Just plain order off the menu breakfast. Having driver over an hour for something special, let's say we were disappointed. The Bananas Foster Pancakes were yummy. The steak and eggs were solid. The Biscuit and Gravy were bland but passable. $10 for a side of bacon. The Chicken and Waffles overcooked. But we had a lovely day in Williamsburg

Yelp
Marriot Autograph Hotel Williamsburg VA - NOT I writing to let you know how utterly disappointed I am in this hotel. We came here for my 65th birthday and instead of having a relaxing 3 days we had a stressful experience. Just walking into the hotel each day and afternoon brought on anxiety of "what will be wrong now". I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with this experience and the service provided. ISSUES: Door gap over 2 inches - safety issue what if there is a fire in the hall all that smoke would come I room! Had to put pillows there to block light at night. Use of power strips with cords hanging all over is not safe at all. Bed was broken and had to move rooms New room had 3 lights burned out called and still not replaced after 18 hours after 20 hours they relaxed 1 light in dirt area but not the two burned out in bathroom. Thermostat falling off the wall, very unsafe Cleaning staff left trash bag on counter in bathroom Cleaning staff left dirty washcloth on the bathroom floor. Elevator dirty Staff except for one server tech had little concern at all Breakfast that cost $25 each, was warm at best, not hot at all, cereal was old and stall Electric Vehicle parking in garage has 4 spots but only one is market so gas cars are taking the spots that we needed People smoking in the courtyard requiring guest to walk and be exposed Your concierge/guest service was great! There was at least one other person we heard that had to change rooms.

Yelp
Each year, the pastry chefs at Williamsburg Lodge create an elaborate gingerbread village for their guests to enjoy. The details on this one were so impressive. And how fun for their guests to see this showpiece in the lobby. We're here getting decorating ideas for our gingerbread houses next month. Can't wait!

Yelp
Stayed here for two days for a retreat. The hotel and surrounding was super nice. In walking distance to historical area. Room was decent size with balcony. Issues that we ran across was the bedding. Sheets were used inserted of fitted sheet. Pillows were lumpy. The fire alarm had this white blinking on every so often. The front desk was nice and check in and check out was great. A bit of a disconnect with making a reservation for dinner. Front desk didn't know how to make reservations and calling the number listed online to the hotel hotline was not helpful. Finally being told to wait till the concierge the next day was useful. The concierge was great and helpful in make reservations for dinner and activities. The gift shop was missing caffeinated drink like energy drink or coffee.

Yelp
The staff is friendly and helpful. There were a few issues and the staff resolved the problems immediately. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The chef specials were amazing. The hotel is composed of several buildings. They have bellhops to handle your luggage. The hotel is nicely decorated and the beds are comfortable. We are here for a few days and are excited to explore all the historical sights.

Yelp
We love The Lodge! Our son attended W&M and we stayed here whenever we had the chance to do so. Walking distance to CW and campus. Nicely appointed rooms, pretty lobby and a nice bar. We Enjoyed many meals in the restaurant and relaxed at the pool. For graduation, we got one of the rooms on the patio level and it was perfect for our large group to be together throughout the weekend. The staff was very accommodating and helpful setting up a family dinner on the patio one of the nights during graduation weekend. Heading back this weekend for a little R&R!

Yelp
A perfect fit for our family vacation in Colonial Williamsburg. Can't beat this location. Walk everywhere except Busch Gardens which was only a short 10 minute drive. Historic location a d exterior with a fresh modern interior. Quiet. Convenient. Comfortable. Lovely patio to dine at the Sweet Tea and Barley onsite restaurant. Great service a d good bartenders. Pool right across the street with Spa and golf as well. Dog friendly.

Yelp
I really want to love this place, but it's not the best Marriott hotel chain hotel. Pros: indoor/outdoor pools, large gym facility, provided towel and water bottle upon entrance, friendly staff, pet friendly stay, close stay and walking distance to Williamsburg attractions. Cons: dirty carpet, small min fridge that stays barely cold, old bathrooms with cracked tiles, no sofa couch, no complimentary lounge drinks like other Marriott chains, breakfast is for purchase and selection doesn't seem too appetizing. I would recommend to stay here only if you're planning to do the Williamsburg attractions and if you have a pet. Otherwise, go elsewhere.

Karen M.

Yelp
This is absolutely one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. No parking available by room building, no room service, empty wet bar with not even water in rooms, no coffee service, marginal accommodations in terms of the rooms, horrible bathrooms as not clean, not given the room types that I reserved on check in. Front fest stating they do not have staff to provide services- but rate nit discounted! No shuttle or transportation services available over to Busch Gardens without self coordination and additional pay. No mechanism after 8 PM to even purchase a take away beverage on property! Horrible customer service! 0 out if 10 will never do again!!!

Don M.

Yelp
Very disappointing. No amenities at all - lobby shop closes at 8p, no room service, no vending machines, nothing. Housekeeping did not make the beds, empty the trash or replenish the (awful) in-room coffee. Just dropped off some fresh towels. No shuttle to the parks (despite being told there would be one) and grossly insufficient parking (they allow the public to use the parking garage). Would not stay here again.

Yelp
In November 2014, I stayed at the Williamsburg Lodge to present at a NAFSA Conference on behalf of the University of Pittsburgh. It was a lovely stay and in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg! It was in walking distance to the CW! The hotel was amazing and clean. The beds were comfortable. We even stayed a few extra days to explore more of Colonial Williamsburg! Beautiful! We highly recommend this hotel!

Yelp
The Williamsburg Lodge is a classic and boutique hotel located in a prime location in colonial Williamsburg The hotel has been added onto over the years and some of the styles of the architecture or a little disjointed but still in the overall spirit and style of brick construction My room this time featured a large king room with the fireplace and covered patio off the second floor that included comfortable rocking chairs This is a very large complex with multiple buildings and covered walkways to get back to the main lodge and my building actually featured a parking deck as part of the complex I have stayed here several times and will be back again
google avatar

Yelp
Had a pretty nice and restful stay at this property. It was well appointed, well laid out and the room was large. Negatives included lacking the little things (bathrobes, toiletries not in bottles in shower), for the price it felt a little too much like typical Marriott. Spa and pools were perfect, but bartending at the terrace was lacking professionalism. All in all a decent experience, but overpriced
google avatar

April Y.

Yelp
I stayed here for a conference in November. I had read a lot of so so reviews. The young man at the front desk could not have been nicer upon check in. My room was clean and comfortable. Yes, it is a pain to go park underground and find your way through a labyrinth of rooms to arrive at your final destination: it is an older property. That's the way it goes. All of the walkways between buildings were covered making it convenient if the weather isn't cooperating. I don't know if I would choose it on my own had I not had business there but I enjoyed my stay.

Yelp
We planned a trip to colonial Williamsburg and we did a lot of research about hotels. There are only a few that are within the walking distance to the historic site if colonial Williamsburg, including Williamsburg lodge. Based on the photographs on the search, we were a bit concerned that it may not be up to good standards. When we arrived, we quickly realized we made the right decision. The front desk staff were very helpful and provided a lot of info about seeing the sites. We got to the room and were pleasantly surprised about we found. We had reserved an upgraded room and found it to be very clean and cheerful and a nice place to stay. Our unit has two separate sinks in two separate areas, which is super convenient. It was a quick 5-min walk to the colonial area, which we much enjoyed. We had dinner at sweet tea and barley, and the service was very good. We had breakfast at traditions, which was basic but met our needs. All in all, we enjoyed staying at Williamsburg lodge.

Yelp
Amazing experience staying here, it was very nicely decorated for the holidays. The lobby entrance was beautiful and the surroundings of this majestic property was delightful. I loved the walking proximity to Historic Colonial Williamsburg and the town shops. Everyone was pleasant and nice. I highly recommend this experience.

Yelp
I can't believe what I paid for a one night stay at Williamsburg Lodge. We stayed in the same building as the parking garage, I hope others are better, but this building was terrible. The room was worn out and tired. The rugs throughout the building were stained and dirty looking. Even the elevator was beaten up - looked like it belonged in a one star hotel. When I booked the room which cost over $600 a night after taxes I was asked if I wanted to pay an extra $14 to have two water bottles in room when we arrived - a major red flag I ignored. Apparently being a Marriott member didn't even earn me complimentary let alone reasonably priced water. The shower had dirty old grout and the bathroom did not feel clean. Even the couches in the main lobby where stained and dirty looking. The entire hotel was dark, dingy and felt like it was falling apart. Just trying to find a small snack and cold water after we arrived was a challenge. The only reason this hotel can charge these rates is because of its location.

Yelp
Put us (80 year old couple with back and leg problems) in the farthest room from reception -- a long walk to our "building" and at the far end, 2d floor, next to an emergency exit door that wouldn't latch shut. Ice machine broken. Two-foot tear in sofa cushion. Door safety latch opened (i.e., blocked door) when we were out -- so cleaning lady couldn't get in. And we the latch was still blocking the door when we tried to get in to clean up for supper. Cleaning lady said the same think happened to the occupants the day before. Tiny bathroom. Just overall disappointing for a Marriott product.

Nicole G.

Yelp
I liked the Lodge, I didn't love the Lodge. The room was mainly clean and a decent size. I found a cleaning rag under the TV table and some hair in the shower. Parking across the street was annoying as well as all of the signs. There seems to be a lot of "No This" and "No That" signage. My husband used the wrong color luggage cart but that is a different review. It would have been nice to know the shuttle would take us anywhere locally, before we walked in the rain. Or maybe mention the free bus which conveniently has a stop in front of the hotel? We found that out after 2 days there. This was our first trip here and I felt the service was lacking for Autograph Collection. There were also sign of wear and tear. I know this is an old building but some paint would go a long way. We took the shuttle over to the Inn and I wished we had booked that instead. I'll probably do that next time.

Hay E.

Yelp
It's not bad, reputable brand but the property itself lacks some charm. The people are great. Well located but will likely try other properties next visit. Our room was also in another building form the main building and it felt more like a college dorm than an integrated experience. Again, clean - the people I can't say enough about but be prepared to figure out the disjointed maze to get to a room if you're not close by the lobby. The pool is across the street - felt odd. Spa is as well. Rooms are clean

Frederick J.

Yelp
Way overpriced for very tired rooms and property. The only reason to stay here is the location. Staff DID NOT make you feel welcome. Unfortunately they all seemed unhappy and did not hide it. This is a management problem. Even the house keeper shared with me "they are not to be social with the guest". So much for Virginia hospitality. Make changes or face your continued demise. Very disappointing Christmas visit. Not worth posting pictures.
google avatar

Suzanne S.

Yelp
Having read the reviews, I see that this hotel went through a facelift, and some folks think the integrity of the building was compromised by the style chosen. I guess in light of that information, it is an odd choice for it to be so trendy now, when sitting in the middle of Old Williamsburg. But I can't help but love it. The room was perfect and spacious. I had a covered balcony with 2 rocking chairs for relaxing. The bathroom had a separate sink area outside which was a nice touch. Shower was ample in size and a strong spray, and the toilet was HIGH! I love that! The room itself was clean and modern and I personally loved the style. I'd never seen it before, but for a first timer, it was awesome. The beds were so comfortable and even the pillows were great! Not too flat and not too fluffy. Perhaps the best thing about the inn was the staff. Everyone was kind and welcoming. Also, they have a shuttle that you can call to come pick you up anytime (before 10pm). Seriously one of my favorite hotels, I felt so comfortable there. I would come back to this hotel again!

Yelp
They do not seem to be making any capacity adjustments due to COVID. They are not enforcing mask wearing. We did not see any guests wearing masks during our stay. We did not see any cleaning or disinfect omg if common surfaces during our stay. Hand sanitizer was not available near doors or high touch areas. Overall, Absolutely terrible, frat house-like, experience. I expect more from Marriott Autograph hotels. For starters, even though I had a mobile key, when we asked the front desk where our room was, they made us park and bring all of our stuff in the lobby. After all of that she told us we now had to pack the car back up and drive a block to the parking garage. All of this at 10 PM after a long drive! It was an unnecessary power trip. After we got to the garage, the mobile key did not work on the elevator or stairwell, so we had to walk AROUND the garage and hike over a hill to get to the building. The mobile key finally worked on the building. I'm a silver elite member. There are standing notes on my account that I'm a light sleeper. That, plus COVID, led me to believe I would not be in a dense noisy environment. That could be no further from my experience. My room was on the first floor next to a mechanical unit that clanged and banged all night. Drunken, low class people came and went all night. The doors are heavy and shut with a thud loud enough to make you jump out of your skin. ALL DOORS near ours had a high degree of activity. THEY WERE NOT ADJUSTING ANY DENSITY DUE TO COVID. I managed to sleep off on and on, despite the slamming doors, screaming drunk people and loud clanging machine. Then I was woken up by a screaming baby at 6 AM. IT IS CLEARLY MARKED ON MY ACCOUNT TO PUT ME FAR AWAY FROM NOISE SOURCES!! In summary, only stay here if you want to have a COVID party in a frat house-like environment

Yelp
nice staff. Just another marriot property along side these historic replica elements. ok location for walking to the historic neighborhood. room 4055 seemed decent but hot water was slow to arrive. needed to run shower and sink to get it. awful coffee maker and bad location for it tucked behind closed cupboard door. fridge was unbalanced possibly missing a foot? room was not worth the large price tag!

The Williamsburg Lodge is a beautiful property located smack dab in the middle of historic Colonial Williamsburg - hands down my favorite place to stay in Williamsburg! The entire hotel architecture blends nicely into the traditional look and feel of its historic surroundings. I can see why Marriott designated this property as one of its Autograph Collection hotels - it's beautiful inside and out. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a deluxe King Corner Room in Curtis Hall - a wonderfully spacious room, with new furnishings, carpet and decor! The 2nd floor view from the two windows which looked out across to the Spa, fitness center and outdoor pool was great. Checking in via mobile check was a breeze with my room key package ready for pick up at check in. Loved the quick transition to our room prior to heading out to New Town for our main event. Many Options for hotel guest parking included valet, a parking garage as well as outdoor parking -- it was a very nice touch to be issued a hanging parking tag to place on your rear view mirror to show you are a registered guest (versus that paper dashboard tag). Another huge perk to The Williamsburg Lodge is it's close proximity to historic Colonial Williamsburg - mere steps away and hence the tremendous advantageous hotel parking. We had a decent breakfast at the Traditions restaurant (good food but service was non-memorable). There are other hotel restaurants available that we did not partake in - instead consider frequenting the many terrific restaurants in downtown Williamsburg as well as our favorite restaurants in New Town! Williamsburg is a must visit and I highly recommend staying at this 5 star hotel property!

Yelp
We came to this hotel for the full experience. While the staff at the front desk were helpful and accommodating, the bartender (Sunday and Monday) was the complete opposite. Questions were partially answered, eye rolls were given and when ensuring we followed the correct payment process we were quickly dismissed with limited communication that we were good to go, just to find out that they were "searching" for us because the payment was incorrectly processed even. After my coworker made a point to follow up with bartender before we left to ensure everything was taken care of. I strongly believe an establishment should be graded on their overall experience and unfortunately their inability to staff a personable and capable bartender brings my rating down. I should not be presented with attitude and disdain at the end of my daY while I'm trying to unwind. If I wanted to do that I would stay any home and dealt with my two teenage daughters.

Yelp
We stayed over labor day weekend 2020. There were COVID precautions in place. We chose this hotel for the location and it is PET FRIENDLY. The rooms were nice and big. The bathroom was also big and very well lit. I highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
All at Williamsburg Lodge was exquisite with our one night stay early January 2022 with the exception of the most important feature lodgers expect - a comfortable mattress!! At 202.00 w/tax / we had what seemed to be a smaller than regular Queen mattress that was VERY uncomfortable/ the pillows were equally the same. In summary, we had a difficult night's sleep and it was very frustrating after a long trip. It's a terrible feeling that you've been short-changed this way. We trusted and SHOULD HAVE received much finer quality bedding from Marriott/ Williamsburg Lodge. Bottled water was not in the room upon entry, unlike most places when you check-in. The bathroom was beautifully decorated. Staff in general were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the restaurant on the premises with good food and drink. The Lodge was beautifully decorated in every way with the Williamsburg theme / however, in the end, it comes down to a comfortable night's sleep. We left the Lodge exhausted for a long trip home to New York.

Yelp
I am a Marriott fan and this property just solidifies that even more. This is a fantastic property. The rooms are rustic (at least in the building that I am in), clean and very quiet. I stayed in the South Building and they had just installed new carpet in the common areas. I was very impressed with this property from check-in, accommodations, amenities, bar and food. This is a great full service facility that is worth your time.

Yelp
Although this hotel is in town and has character - the service is not good. The staff during the check in process did not explain any directions or amenities - the gift shop was never open - the restaurant decides to pause service in the middle of dinner hours - and we have our 9 year old daughter with us. We left the room and forgot something came back and the cleaning lady was sitting on our bed talking on the phone. For the amount of money you pay for this place the service is lacking - won't be back

Yelp
The autograph collection is a curious thing. I assume, though I haven't read the official description, that it basically a collection of properties Marriott took over but didn't Marriott-ize. This one is solid. As you choose between the properties close to Colonial Williamsburg, this one is a great choice at a reasonable price point. And you can use Marriott points. There's always a mix of older couples and families. The property has excellent service with sufficient rooms. The size of the rooms is generous, but everything in them is kind of dated. Some are cute dated like colonial Williamsburg, but in some cases more like your grandparents house dated. For that, it's all clean and fresh, the beds are comfy, and I love the products. It's the little things. Back to the service. Perfect at every stage from check in to concierge to breakfast. Responsive and helpful. Though it might be a pain to walk a bit further I recommend the furthest most outer buildings as they are way quieter than the main property or closer buildings. As part of your stay you have access to the pools. The in house bar and restaurant are good, but next door has the terrace room which imho is way better (and not formal.)

Yelp
Yikes, can't wait to check out! My room is very dusty and dirty. I'm not sure when the last time it was cleaned. I've asked to be moved twice but rejected each time due to the property being "sold out." I can't believe Marriott put their name on a property so far from being renovated. It's even more shocking they'd consider this an autograph. Dirty glasses, dusty tables and window seals, broken lamps, very abused furniture, the list goes on... Update: I was moved from this room to a newly renovated room. Unfortunately, I continued to have problems. I couldn't use the bathroom due to water pouring through the fixtures when the upstairs guests showered. I wasn't welcomed at the spa when I was told I'd need to shower over there. It was a rough experience to say the least. HOWEVER, I was upfront with management and the front desk regarding my experience and they responded very kindly (which I was in desperate need of by that point). I will give them another chance based on how they responded. I could tell they were extremely embarrassed about the situation. It's so hard when you travel a lot and just want to be comfortable since you can't be at home. I hope to see the management team again under more pleasant circumstances.

Yelp
This is a fine hotel, but "luxury" it is not! While the staff is very friendly, and the location terrific, this is not a "luxury" hotel experience. The room was not very clean. There was a gross stain on the bedside table of a drink that had been spilled by a previous guest. There was also visible dust on the bedroom fixtures. The bathroom was not that clean. The floor was very dirty and the trash can needed to be replaced. The sleep here was also not great. The beds are creaky, there are bad sheets and even worse pillows (no down feather pillows!). The WiFi also could use improvement. I give three stars because of the great location and the cute Christmas decorations they had during our visit, but I would not return to this location. Shoutout to the waitstaff in the restaurant for being really nice!

Yelp
Staff here if very friendly and helpful and exceeded our expectations. Reception desk people were exceptional. Hotel is a bit dated but it's close location to Williamsburg is a huge plus, especially if you have kids. Breakfast buffet was a bit pricy at 25 dollars a head with a drink . Quality of service was excellent. Overall a great experience and beds are very comfortable.

Yelp
The Williamsburg Lodge is next to the Williamsburg Inn. It is a very comfortable place to stay very near the historic area. We were warmly greeted at the door. We went directly to the gift shop where the staff was also warm and welcoming. . We really liked the Christmas decorations here - the tree in the registration area was large and fully decorated. We admired the crochet-like ornaments so much that we wanted to buy some. Unfortunately, no one could tell us where to do that.

Yelp
Rooms are nice size, clean. The mattress was a bit uncomfortable tho. Somehow the fan seemed to be blowing right on you in bed, which was uncomfortable. I was happy to see a bath mat for the tub! No fear of slipping for me! A huge closet which seems unnecessary but that is where the full length mirror is. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Lovely hotel in the Marriott stable of hotels. We had a very nice room, we loved the wonderful shower. Clean, and within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg. We opted for a package and included was breakfast, length of stay tickets to Colonial Williamsburg and a cute tote bag. We would definately stay here again. Highly recommended

Yelp
Great hotel and great location. If you are going to the historical district they are ideally located. The bar in the hotel is a proper bar, not just an afterthought. Two main sides of room. The queen beds are nice, but to the smaller sized rooms. The king sized beds are in king sized rooms. Both are nice, but the bigger rooms are substantially so. The historic district has tickets available in the hotel at the concierge desk, who can also get any reservations you might care for. Fantastic staff. I always stay here.

Yelp
What on earth has Marriott done with this place!? Have been staying at the Lodge for 15+ years and it's just not the same anymore. The Lodge has lost all of its colonial charm in exchange for totally out-of-place, quirky, contemporary style. Guest services are fine, but I don't come to Colonial Williamsburg to stay in "hip" chain hotel lodging. CW PLEASE bring back the old lodge.

Yelp
What a wonderful place in a walking distance to all restaurants and little shops in the middle of Williamsburg! We live in Virginia Beach, and even though Williamsburg is very close to us, it still felt like a great place for a romantic getaway. Spa is beautiful, tranquility pool was great, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. The fact that the place is dog friendly is a huge bonus as well. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
I've been coming to Williamsburg for many years. This is my last trip. This place this state is so afraid of Covid that they have ruined the experience. Many things of the recent past are no longer provided or available because Virginians are scared of their own shadows! Yet the prices are sky high still. Double standards everywhere you look and a complete lack of sense. Virginia needs to fix this asap, until they stop with the covid overkill don't waste your time or money here
