Willie G’s My visit to this restaurant was on April 4. We first stopped in during the afternoon to make sure this was where we wanted to celebrate my birthday. We had booked a reservation and we reconfirmed that reservation hoping that we would have a wonderful dining experience. Unfortunately when we arrived on time for our reservation, they had no table ready. The hostess took ten minutes to let us know that they had no table for us and we would have to wait. They told us to wait outside until a table was available. After another 10 minutes we decided to take a table outside. We ordered some appetizers and drinks , the server seemed to be nervous and new so we decided not to order main dishes just a big salad more appetizers and soup. We mentioned that it was a birthday hoping he would bring a dessert menu but he total ignored it. The soups were brought to the table long after the salad and appetizers. We left the restaurant letting him know we would make a review.we waited till now done because I didn’t want to leave a review based on emotion but after considering our experience and the service we received at in Landry’s Steakhouse the next day, it was totally the opposite. Willie G’a was a very disappointing experience.

This is my second time visiting Willie G’s Seafood and Steaks. It was just as amazing as my first visit. The food is top notch, the ambiance is beautiful and relaxing. The wine list is very good, along with a wide assortment of cocktail options. Our waitress Gaby was super friendly and kindhearted. She made our visit even better with her dinner recommendations coupled with perfect wine pairing. If you’re near the Strand drop by and enjoy lunch or dinner at this fabulous restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

My family and I recently visited this restaurant and it was great!! From the food to the service, we were 10/10 satisfied! The restaurant itself is very welcoming, we had a reservation and arrived a few minutes early, there was no hesitation in seating us and the server came up right away to introduce herself. Our server was Gaby and she did a phenomenal job with lots of patience and made sure to check on our table regularly. The food was great, along with the drinks. Thank you for your great service and ensuring we were comfortable Gaby!

Loved this spot in Galveston! The Gulf oysters were amazing—so fresh and flavorful. The fish with risotto was perfectly cooked, and they’ve got a great wine list for pairing. Big shoutout to Bobby for the fantastic service—we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Google
Everything was great at the restaurant, food tasted great. But 2 of 4 people had gastric issues, the ones who ate the crab. Might have been a fluke, but having a sick kid from cooked seafood is never fun. The value menu pre fixed is value sized, not equivalent, just a heads up

Google
Seared Pepper Tuna Rolls, Lobster Bites, Lobster Bisque, Wedge Salad, to die for. Some of the largest gulf oysters I have ever had. You are greeted with warm smiles and warm garlic bread. Our server was beyond knowledgeable! When I was ordering he would make comments about the food, sauces, preparation methods, etc; a very nice touch. Interior decor is beautiful, and the outdoor scenery is just as delightful. Every experience is a 5/5!

Google
This is an upscale restaurant by the harbor, but without a dress code so you can walk in off the street. We were seated quickly and our order was taken promptly. We had gumbo and the seafood quesadillas. I also ordered a margarita. Our server, Esta, was pleasant and friendly but wasn’t around very much. Our food came before my margarita but I drank it anyway. 😉. The food was good and we will be back.

Google
The food tasted very good there was 5 in our party 3 of us had the Ribeye it was cooked perfect 3 of us had the fryed catfish it was very good. Bobby ( waiter) was really nice He did a really awesome job. The food was cooked perfectly and it tasted amazing. The only complaint I have is there ribeye was a little small for the price.

Rusty M.

Yelp
We had a great server today her name was Gaby! We highly recommend you ask for her when you visit. Great food with a great view!

Yelp
Located right next to our hotel, which was do convenient. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Our waiter Marco was awesome, all of his suggestions turn out fabulous. We started with drinks Pina colada for me and Galveston ice tea for hubby. Large serving. Very well prepared. Next Clam chowder wonderful flavorful and full of clams. Main course we split a seafood platter with filets, shrimp, oysters, French fries and onion rings. Delicious. Last but not least bread pudding with Carmel bourbon sauce. Everything was hot and exceptionally well done. Seating is roomy with great views.

Yelp
Came here as part of a group dinner (party of 12) and overall our experience here was okay. The atmosphere at Willie Gs is always lively and amazing, but we were a bit disappointed with our service this night. It took us about 45mins after after dinner to pay and leave. We aren't sure why this was but the server may have been backed up (as it was a Saturday night). The food was okay, nothing too spectacular. I ordered the NY strip, cooked to medium and the Parmesan risotto. I loved my sides & steak was seasoned decently. Still I felt like I left wanting more. I think I prefer their HH over the dinner options.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our app meal at the bar. Service was excellent! We had the quesadillas and stuffed shells with a bowl of clam chowder. But beware, there's bacon in the chowder, and it isn't mentioned on the menu, for shame. Bright inside and clean, with views of the channel. I took stars for the bacon and dirty tea box. Someone needs to wipe that thing down.

Yelp
Willie Gs has the best happy hour on the island, I love coming to the bar and sitting with Brittany and Jenny they always provide exceptional service. The bar is a great place for conversation and it's kept clean which I enjoy. I got the chicken Romano salad today and it was everything I hoped for and more.

Dave D.

Yelp
Great food. Incredible selection! Our server Eric was top notch. Highly recommend this place and ask for Eric if you can. :)

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Enjoyed happy hour here on a weekday! The service was impeccable! Our server was extremely friendly, attentive, and warm. I wish I remembered his name! Sitting outside was perfect! The shading and comfy chairs/sofas were perfect, and the view of the water adds a nice touch. Ordered a well tequila sunrise, which was strong and refreshing. For food, we ordered the the twins (2 burger sliders and a small cup of fries). They were fantastic, just wish there were more fries. HH oysters are a great price too! Love that they validate parking for a whole 3 hours! The inside was beautiful too. Will have to come back very soon!

Yelp
Willie G's is an excellent option for a nice night out with family or date night. It's an upscale environment with a decadent menu. Our steak was cooked to perfection and the gumbo was pretty authentic. Our table service was very nice and professional. Expect prices to be slightly elevated but not out of control for this type of dinner. We had excellent cocktails and really enjoyed the view of the harbor at night and watching the ships come in and out. We capped the evening off with a nice stroll along the water.

Liz N.

Yelp
Great dinner last night Cody was my Server. I had the scallops. My husband had the fried seafood platter. Wonderful weather, great atmosphere on the patio

Sunland C.

Yelp
So the stars I'm giving this place are for the steak, which was well seasoned and cooked as ordered and for the dog friendly patio (although we had to hop chains to get in). They had a gumbo that was super salty... but literally everything else was so bland. Like not even salt? Worst etouffee I've ever had in my life. I also got a side of the risotto and it was such a waste of money... The steak would be the only thing I'd ever get here. But you just don't expect to have horrible seafood at Galveston? The waiter was very nice and the restaurant itself was clean and relaxed feeling.

Becca S.

Yelp
Willie G's was my first stop on my way into Galveston. I had scoped out places for happy hour, and they have an EXCELLENT one. They also have a bar menu served during the week. I boogied in about 4:30 on a Friday and scored a table on the patio. Seafood and wine specials, with a water view, SCORE. I got a glass of wine and ordered the oysters from the bar menu and the seared tuna from the happy hour menu. The oysters were great. So fresh and came with all the accoutrements. The tuna was just ok. This slices of seared tuna around a bit of avocado and a rather large piece of cucumber. I thought the cucumber overpowered everything else, and it isn't something I would order again. I thought the service was good and even saw a dolphin in the water, from where I sat. Definitely will be back.

Karen A.

Yelp
We ate at Willie g's tonight. The food was delicious! When we arrived, we were told it would be a 45 minute wait. We were able to grab a table at the bar, so we felt lucky! We ordered wine and food and ate delicious meals! We will definitely return!

Bobby M.

Yelp
Ate lunch here twice last week in Galveston. Our service was good both visits. We sat by the windows both times viewing the Galveston harbor. We had oysters on the half shell and gumbo and lobster bisque the first visit. Oysters were seasonally small but fresh. My gumbo was good with scratch roux. Second visit had gumbo appetizer and seafood sliders. Thank you for participating in the Galveston restaurant month.

Shannon T.

Yelp
First time eating here and we were not disappointed!! The food was very delicious and the ambiance was great! Those lobster bites... wow!! They are sooooooo good!! Their garlic bread is some of the best we have ever had!! We loved the vibe of this establishment! We will definitely return!! Our waiter Ross was great. He told us about their Happy Hour. We will for sure go back for that!!

Marion D.

Yelp
Willie G's is a sophisticated seafood dinner choice on Galveston island with knowledgeable servers and delicious choices. Recommend!

Ricardo H.

Yelp
Someone from Willie's restaurant called us to make it right and that's what it's all about and the way it should be. Will be back soon to have some appetizers and drinks. Thank you again for making it right and that's why I changed my review. Haven't been back yet but hopefully I can make it back some time soon. Sorry for the late post, had it written already but forgot to post it a while back till I seen it in my collection box today

Debbie K.

Yelp
The food here never disappoints. We love the atmosphere and the service is superb. The steak is always cooked to perfection. I had chicken fettuccine which was excellent. When in Galveston, this place should not be missed.

Desera A.

Yelp
We ate here before our cruise twice. Service is amazing Marco took really good care of us. We asked for him to be our server the second time. Food was great. The atmosphere very relaxing never felt rushed. This will always be our go to restaurant before a cruise.

Michelle S.

Yelp
Food was ok. I think i was just looking for a little more or something more. Ordered appetizers: Lobster in panko did not frame the lobster well ; however, sauce was wonderful. The other appetizer was oyster and shrimp trash- this was the one appetizer that came after the meal was served. The whole meal seems like food was taking a while. We had hope to be in and out--- 1 hour or 1.5 hours tops- THREE HOURS LATER..... Be ready to stay a while... in retrospect- think Island time. Service was ok. Glasses were filled regularly. It was a while between seeing our waiter. There was a glass that felll and broke- no one came... we had to ask for help after picking up the glass...waiter never acknowledged or even was around then. Ambiance was aesthetically pleasing, open concept. The smell of mold in the entrance needed attended to. It seems entry from the rear is in the carpet smells mold. Bathrooms in the restaurant needed cleaned- trash over flowing. This restaurant could be phenomenal. The menu could be more a la cart- choose a protein , the way it is cooked, and two sides. Coleslaw and hush puppies would be nice. Add a burger for those that don't like seafood. Desserts were great having full size and samplers! It's got great space, attractive scenery! .

Yelp
Ughhh I really don't like going to eat in Galveston. I feel like the food is overpriced because of the location, and the restaurants don't have to try that hard to get people in anyway. So very few new ideas or concepts or even variations on existing. Willie G's is exactly the same way. The cocktail menu is tired, and the drinks are too sweet. The inside smells weird, it was very off-putting. Luckily we sat outside at the iron table and chairs that haven't been updated since 1995. The one saving grace is the food. The crab stuffed shrimp was sooo good, and it wasn't a huge serving. Going out for dinner and drinks after and having to carry a box around is annoying. Oh also there is garlic bread to start which is nice. the veggies that came on the side were just whatever. The risotto was 3000/10.

Amy R.

Yelp
My family and I checked out this neat establishment on the water while on a recent trip to Galveston. We were able to sit outside and if the breeze was blowing with the overhead fans, it wasn't too bad. We didn't want anything heavy so we ordered 3 apps to share as our meal. The indulged in the lobster bites, oyster bar trash, and Romano crusted asparagus. Personally the oysters bar trash was my favorite. The shrimp and crabmeat was accompanied by a nice butter/cream sauce and some rice and perfectly cooked. The asparagus was cooked well and the bruschetta tomatoes added some nice freshness. The lobster bites had a nice crunch with a subtle heat from the sauce. The service was just okay, a bit on the slow side in my opinion for such a nice place, however I would return again to try some of the mouth watering entrees

Monica D.

Yelp
The hostess was friendly and seated us immediately on arrival. We arrived for an early dinner expecting a great meal and dining experience. We were sorely disappointed. Sat at our table for 20 minutes waiting for the wait staff, no acknowledgment, no water, nothing. Saw plenty of wait staff hovering around the bar area appearing not to be busy. Disappointed we left our table telling the hostess we were leaving after not even consuming a glass of water due to lack of service. Went to Fisherman's Wharf and was greeted and seated immediately. The place was very busy however drink orders were taken immediately and menus provided promptly. Their Red Snapper is excellent as well as their sides and the house speciality dessert is to die for. Bottle of California Red was quality as well. The waitress was excellent, attentive and kept checking in to see how we were and if we needed anything and they were indeed busy. My compliments to the management and staff of Fisherman Wharf as they made our evening delightful. Willie G's missed out on our over $200.00 meal (for two) plus a nice tip for the wait staff and created a sour note for our Galveston visit . Please do better for your future dinners experience, we will not be back for our future stays in your lovely city.

Fernando C.

Yelp
For $160 bucks for 2 people I'd figure the toilets would all work, shrimp would be properly peeled where I wouldn't get a "crunch" when I take a bite, and there wouldn't be a bug in my beer ‍‍ Food was good though...

Lisa R.

Yelp
Some of the things I love about Willie G's are that they are dog friendly, offer shade and fans in the summer and heaters in the winter. I'm not normally a fan of chain restaurants, but this one is my exception to the rule. On our most recent trip, we started with the shrimp cocktail and the caprese salad. Both were good and fresh tasting. Next we ordered the Redfish Louisianne and Blackened Snapper Lafitte and they did not disappoint. While some of our long time favorite restaurants in Galveston have raised prices and lowered quality, Willie's has not. Yay! Being in a city know for their fresh fish, we've never bothered to try their "land animal" dishes but so far almost all of the seafood dishes we've had have been good to great. Personally, the crab cake falls a little short though. It's a bit too breast and not enough crab for my taste. Otherwise, enjoy the food and atmosphere, and don't be afraid to share plates. They are relatively generous! Finally, I need to mention that the wait staff is generally knowledgeable and willing to convey special drink requests, however, my order for a classic (shaken) Daiquiri tasted like it was made with Gin (Gimlet) instead of rum (Daiquiri). It was not what I expected, but it wasn't bad either. Tip - if you have dogs, I'd suggest making a reservation and noting that in the comments, requesting a well shaded area. You may get the best table on the patio!

P P.

Yelp
Plump and juicy, it was a wonderful meal of appetizers. Excellent service too! Don't miss coming here when you are in Galveston.

Yelp
Saturday dinner in Galveston. Made our reservations through OPEN TABLE App 30 min before. Arrived on time and was greeted by name. Was quickly taken to table as requested for window table (Indoor or Outdoor dining). Atmosphere was light music and decor very relaxing. Was able to see Carnival Jubilee depart. Waiter was knowledgeable on menu and smiles. We ordered an appetizer Lobster Bites. OH MY GOD! Can I say Heaven on earth. The best $20 dollars I spent that day, lol. Drinks we saw another table and asked the waiter "What are they drinking " So ordered G's lemonade. Mmm another knock out drink. Infused with real strawberries. Drinks were a moderate $12 for large glass margaritas cup. Our main entree, I'm a fried shrimp guy. My fried shrimp were butterflied vs, traditional fried shrimp. They were really good and large enough to keep me satisfied. Price 23. Caesar salad with extra sharp cheddar cheese and bacon was crisp, fresh and delish ($12) . My girlfriend ordered the grilled chicken breast. She really loved the juiciness (is that a word, lol) of the chicken and the grill char ($23). We would def recommend Willie G's in Galveston.

Belle S.

Yelp
This restaurant is very elegant. We went in as they opened and got seated right away. Our server was excellent. She was very courteous and knowledgeable. We had the Tuna rolls for appetizer. It was excellent! I had Frutti di Mare which was surprisingly very delicious! Chris had the Redfish Louisianne. It looked and tasted really good. The food was a little pricey, but as they always say, you get what you pay for. No regrets!

Alexis G.

Yelp
This was my first time here and it will not be my last! Service was exceptional, I wish I remembered our servers name because he was on top of it all & still made sure to take care of us& share some stories. Food and Ambiance are great. It's open and inviting, not too loud inside, we made same-day reservations and seated right away. Don't pass up on the bread and butter. We had some fantastic main entrée dishes, Lobster Tail w/ filet & the scallops are SUPER TASTY

Trevor L.

Yelp
I have zero complaints. The food was on point and the view just made it even more special. Don't be fooled if you see people outside, they're more than likely waiting for the dolphins tour. I thought there was a wait but walked and was seated. Everything tasted fresh and not frozen. My expectations were met as I expected to eat fresh seafood. I recommend if you're in the area, this is a must stop. I almost forgot, their marinara is delicious! You can taste the house made ingredients. Price was pretty good for the quality of food as well. Okay, now I'm done

David R.

Yelp
Always Great! I've eaten here many times and the food and service never disappoints. Reservations are always a good idea, in that it's a popular place to go have a good meal. I had the ribeye steak, cooked medium rare along with green beans and twice baked potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection! From the appetizers to the desserts, were excellent. I can't say enough good about this place. When in Galveston, go to Willie G's and get Full.

Troy J.

Yelp
I had the chance to eat the Blackened Catfish plate. This was very tasty. Next for a side I had sauteed mushrooms. I enjoyed this very much. Washed it down with an Ice tea. The service was quick and the were very polite. The ambiance was cozy with nice music and a full bar if you enjoy drinks. Not bad at all.

Doty L.

Yelp
We love coming here. Lobster bisque is always on point. Oysters are superb. We tried other places for oysters and bisque, but are let down by the quality. Service is friendly and fast. They take the time to explain the menu if there are any questions.

Lea Z.

Yelp
The patio is awesome with a view of the marina. We called last night before making our reservations to ensure the patio would be served and they had the heaters on as it chills after sunset. We were sat immediately upon arrival and we mentioned the heater to our server, very friendly and professional, said they would be turning them on shortly. It took a bit for our drinks but when she returned we asked for the heaters again. Sun was dropping and the wind was picking up. We ordered the oysters on the half shell, my daughter loved them, I passed as no mignonette sauce, no judgement I just can't eat them without it. Finally a guy came out to turn on our heater and speaking in Spanish told the other helper that our heater wouldn't work as it was broken or out of gas. He did get it started but it ran out of gas within a few minutes, they changed the tank but it wouldn't relight, he switched the heaters and we were thankful. No other heaters were ever lit. We ordered the salmon with risotto and green beans. My granddaughter's salmon was lovely but my daughter's was a bit charred. The risotto was dreadful though, bland and arrived shaped like a jello mold. I had the redfish, very salty but the presentation was great. My husband had the catfish, huge portion but like the other fishes also overcooked. The atmosphere was stellar, the service impeccable but the food wasn't as good as our previous visits. Hopefully, just a mess up as it was off night.

Mac D.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised about the entire dining experience at Wlllie G's. We were expecting a tourist trap and found fine dining! My wife had the blackened red snapper and I had the stuffed red snapper Blanca, both were excellent. Service and ambience were first rate. Highly recommend.

Teri S.

Yelp
The ambiance and location of this restaurant was very lovely! We enjoyed it's location near the water and the food! Fabulous! Our service was attentive and prompt. Comfortable seating and reservations were helpful. My husband and friends truly enjoyed this dining experience!

Victor W.

Yelp
My experience at Willie G's Seafood & Steaks was exceptional. The food was outstanding; each dish, from the succulent seafood to the perfectly cooked steaks, was a culinary delight. Besides, Abraham, our server, was friendly and helpful. and I'll definitely be returning."

Jennifer M.

Yelp
One of the best meals of my life! Red snapper was the fish of the day. Best fish ever. It was caught that morning. We also had stuffed seafood shells. Absolutely amazing. Shells were soft and full of flavor. We tried two desserts and one was crème brûlée. Yum!! This place looks so fang on the inside but they cater well to any type of patron. Can't wait to go back and try the lobster bisque!

Chancy P.

Yelp
Came here on a recommendation, and we were not steered wrong. We were greeted and seated quickly with a great view of the Battleship Texas across the bay. Our server Bobby was very friendly and helpful with some great dinner recommendations. We got the Redfish, Crab Cakes, and of course some Calamari. The food was great, but Bobby really stood out and helped make it a great night. Great place for a business dinner or date night. Will definitely come back.

Michaela P.

Yelp
Came here for lunch while the rest of the family went fishing. It was after the lunch rush, so I got seated quickly but waited a good 10 minutes for a waiter to show up with some water and take my order. I opted for some Oyster, 6 for $11, mind boggling since I just ate some back in Austin for a buck a piece, regardless they were plumb and tasty. The Shrimp and Snapper Suga Rosa, although a bit pricey, was delicious. Then breading was so flavorful and light, the Snapper was so fresh, the pasta tasted homemade and the sauce? I restrained myself from licking the plate, it was that good. We will for sure come back.

Gillian P.

Yelp
Omg!! Our experience was so wonderful lots of food . Service was amazing . The fish , shrimp and veggies were done to perfection . It was one of our best meals on the island hands down. Ambiance was good water view . We heard about happy hour and can't Waite to try that out . Best meal of the year. Prices were high but so worth it they feed you good for your buck . Jason and Marco those two waiters are rock stars please if you get those two you are golden . Outside seatings Highly recommend Willie G,s One of the best restaurants on the strip Lobster Brisk to die for .. OMG

Derek S.

Yelp
I have to tell you. We had a great time at Willie G's! Brittany, our bartender, was the best! She made great recommendations...actually, I just let her pick our food. She was very knowledgeable and asked us great questions before making recommendations. The crab cake was off the chain. The garnish on the crab cake actually adds another layer of flavor and was great! Bottom line, go see Brittany and have a great time! You won't regret it!!!!

Suz V.

Yelp
Cody was an excellent server, and the food was delicious and plentiful. We'll be back.

Bobby N.

Yelp
Service was good, food came out at a decent time, portions were reasonable but it was all too bland for the price you pay. Fried catfish should have some seasoning in the meal, those had none, crab cakes were good, side items were good, sea bass was nothing special. Nice environment. I feel it was overrated and overpriced.

David S.

Yelp
The crab cake was very good but expensive as an appetizer. The lobster bites were ok. My wife sent the mahi mahi plate back after one bite. Fish tasted strange. The redfish was ok but my daughter requested hot sauce because it was bland. My shrimp platter was average. Waitress was pleasant but service was average. We won't be returning. It is July 4th so ambiance is good, fairly crowded with nice view of harbor.

Monica R.

Yelp
Was recommend to try this place by someone who use to live in the area. Our group of 6 enjoyed everything! The server was Eric and he was so delightful and amazing with recommendations. He mentioned the head chef was Danny Hernandez and all of the food was delicious. Especially the chocolate cake we got to celebrate our friends birthday. I would recommend this place for all occasions!

Eddie H.

Yelp
Bringing class to the pier Willie G'a is a must do for the Galveston Pier. A bring your wallet experience with great seafood and regional gumbo. Mildly seasoned catfish deep fried and tender made for a perfect catfish offering. Large pieces of shrimp perfectly battered and fried served with thin cut onion rings and expertly cooked steak fries made a successful seafood plate overlooking a picturesque view of the harbor A perfect spot to eat on the Galveston pier 21. A must eat at place in my mind.

Calvin D.

Yelp
Came by here for lunch after a graduation with a party of 6. I did make a reservation prior so idk if there's a wait for walk ins. They give complimentary garlic bread. This is my first trip here and I've ordered their frutti di mare pasta. This pasta consisted of shrimp, scallop, crawfish and calamari with light tomato sauce. Boy did it taste goood but it had a little spice to it. Pasta had a lot of flavors and portion was very generous. The crab stuffed shrimp was my favorite thing I've tried here (must get). This place is pretty pricy, interior is very nice and catches your eyes. I've also tried their raw oysters and I loved it!! The only reason why I gave it a 3 is because service was super slow and seated 6 people at a table that only fits 4-5 max. There wasn't even enough room for the food so we all felt rushed eating our appetizers quick to make more space on the table..

Al G.

Yelp
Food is mediocre at best. Service is acceptable but not what you should expect from a restaurant of this caliber.
