"I learned Willis Show Bar is an Art Moderne reconstruction of a 1940s Detroit jazz venue with a narrow floor plan and a curved bar that puts customers right in front of nightly entertainment—typically a mix of live musicians and burlesque—and that it has been dark since March 14 because its intimacy prevents safe 50 percent occupancy (maybe only 30 percent) and makes reopening financially unfeasible given its relatively high overhead; outdoor shows are impractical because the bar sits close to residential streets, so owner Sean Patrick is working with the landlord and planning to build out a kitchen to add a dining component as an alternative revenue stream." - Brenna Houck
