The Best Restaurants in Sacramento, Roseville, and Elk Grove | Eater SF

"For those catch-up brunches where the tea spilled and tears shed will provide all the charge your spirit needs, it’s best to complement the vibes with dependable, thoughtfully made fare. Willow, a high-ceilinged, Southern Italian and Mediterranean-inspired enclave adjacent to the Downtown Commons, provides just that. During breakfast and brunch hours, the lemon ricotta pancake makes for a perfect shared brunch plate for the table (everybody does that with their friends, right?) and should not be overlooked, nor should the bucatini carbonara on the more savory side of the spectrum. Willow is also a lovely option for family visiting from out of town, followed by a stroll through the nearby Crocker Art Museum or a Kings game across the street." - Tamerra Griffin

I assume most people probably wouldn't eat here at "Willow" if they knew just how dirty and unsanitary their kitchen really is: - Hair, dust and grease buildups underneath, and on top of all the stoves and other cooking equipment. Most equipment looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months, if not longer. - Used gloves and old moldy food underneath the stoves, prep stations and other equipment in the kitchen. - Live and dead cockroaches in the kitchen where the food is being cooked, and inside the walk-in refrigerator where all the meat, seafood, fruits and vegetables are stored. - The cast iron pans they cook the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes in are always left filthy dirty with dust all over them. Multiple times I witnessed them pour pancake batter directly into a dirty pan built up with grease and dust without cleaning it out first. - If you've ever wondered why their "Bucatini Carbonara" dish tastes under seasoned and watered down, that's because it literally is. They run their pasta boiling machine with unfiltered tap water and NO SEA SALT...just plain water. And the "Cream Sauce" is made up of 1 part WATER, 1 part Heavy Cream and 1 Egg yolk. Cooks seemingly do not even know how to properly sauté either. I personally witnessed multiple breakfast cooks, even the Sous and Executive Chefs throw COLD oil and COLD ingredients in a COLD sauté pan all at the same time...then put it on the stove burner, and start stirring and tossing the ingredients before the pan or oil even heats up! Not to mention they all gossip about each other like they're in high-school. Everyone from the Bartender Jon, the Pastry Chef Amanda, and even the Sous Chef Dan talks badly about the Executive Chef Scott Carr behind his back...saying he doesn't know what he's doing. I was warned not to let him cook my lunch, and they also said he previously took the Gnocchi off the menu because he didn't know how to cook it correctly, and kept burning the brown butter. They were also operating their kitchen here with a dishwashing machine that had NO HOT WATER for months. Which is a huge ⚠️Health Code Violation⚠️ They told me it had been like that already for a while because the higher ups were being lazy and taking their sweet time to approve getting it fixed. HOT water is crucial for effective cleaning and sanitation! A lack of hot water can lead to an inadequate removal of food debris and potential bacterial growth, creating a HEALTH RISK. Even though they do have soap and sanitizer...that and mere COLD water alone is not enough to eliminate all the germs, bacteria and other harmful microorganisms. Fine dining? This place is an absolute mess. Eat at your own risk 🤮☠️

Excellent service! I just had breakfast at willow and the server was so professional, kind and a total gentleman. He made sure I got my food right away due to a timing constraint I had. The food was fast and so delicious, it was also very healthy which I appreciate! I will recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful environment and good breakfast. (I haven’t tried the dinner but I’m sure it’s delicious too). Thank you for a great experience!

Better than expected even above what you would expect from a 5-star restaurant. Food-wise everything was perfectly done and just the right amount for a course. The waiter was prompt and courteous, even anticipating our needs. The bartender even makes a decent Old Fashioned The hard part is that it's downtown and parking is always an adventure. Fortunately there are a number of paid garages in the area to offset the minimal street spots. There is, however, a drop zone for disabled persons on 4th

(visited May 17th, 2025) The food was lovely, good seafood, nice cocktails and appetizers. Food arrived in a timely fashion. The restaurant itself was also lovely, nicely appointed and the lighting was good. The server was truly excellent. This place is way out of my normal price range but that's a me problem.

Happy to share this updated recommendation for Willow! The owner invited us back for a complimentary meal, during which they more than made up for our past experience with such thoughtful hospitality and absolutely delicious plates. The pork belly Benedict was fantastic - tender and flavorful, and the mixed greens had a light dressing that we loved. The avocado bowl was great - I particularly loved the crispy copa and expertly poached eggs. The pièce de résistance was the lemon ricotta pancake! A slight crisp on the outside and fluffy and moist on the inside. And the chantilly whipped cream! Oh my. We’ll be having dreams about it for days. Grateful to Willow for having us back, and we look forward to returning again soon :) ps, the Bloody Mary and selection of mimosa options were great.

Stayed at the Exchange, so I stopped by early Tuesday morning for breakfast. Ambience was nice, I was seated next to the giant windows. I got the Willow breakfast: just standard eggs, potatoes, and sausage with sourdough bread for about 18 dollars. Food was very yummy, portions were large, the fingerling potatoes were crispy and salty. Server was attentive. They allow you to bill to the room to use your hotel food and beverage credit at the restaurant. 100% would recommend if you’re in the area or staying at the Hilton here!

Willow Restaurant and Bar – A Bougie Brunchers Review Bougiebrunchers.com Located inside The Exchange Hotel, Willow Restaurant and Bar brings an upscale yet relaxed dining experience to downtown Sacramento. Ambiance & Service The restaurant boasts a chic, modern atmosphere with large glass windows that make for a bright and airy dining experience. I requested a window seat, and they delivered—offering a front-row view of the city’s happenings. However, the initial service was slow. It took about 10 minutes before anyone even offered water, which was a bit frustrating. When my server, Tyler, finally arrived, he was friendly and efficient, so I decided to order my entire meal at once. The Food French Toast – This was a standout dish. Golden brown, crispy on the outside, and perfectly fluffy inside. I could taste the butter and vanilla, making it rich but not overpowering. The syrup had a balanced sweetness—none of that overly fancy, "trying too hard" gourmet syrup. Avocado Bowl – A dream for avocado lovers. It came with beautifully toasted golden wheat bread sourced from Bella Rue. The toast was pan-fried, not from a toaster, which made all the difference. I deconstructed the bowl and used the ingredients to craft my own version of avocado toast perfection. Overall Experience For two people, the bill was around $65, making it a great mid-range brunch option. While the slow start in service was a downside, the food made up for it. If you're in Sacramento and looking for a delicious brunch spot with thoughtfully prepared dishes, Willow Restaurant and Bar is worth a visit. Would I go back? Yes—but I’d be prepared for a wait. Who knows. Maybe they were short staffed. The wait was worth it in the end.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast. Have stayed at the hotel it is attached to many times and always eat here. Usually hotel restaurants are average at best. This one is fantastic. Very mellow vibe in a classic upscale look. Staff is always very good and friendly. Food is really good and changed a bit over time. At here twice in a row. Had their omelet first day. Had pork belly Benedict second. Both were top notch. The fingerling potatoes are worth it by themselves and some house made habanero salsa to spice it up. Been here many times and will eat here every time I am in town.

Yelp
We made reservations here thinking that it would be super busy. But it wasn't. There were 3 parties when. We cam. It was a Sunday at noon. It took a while for the server to come take our order. I had the pork Benedict. I wasn't impressed at all. It wasn't very tasty. It was a nice and clean though. I may give it another try one again. If I do. I will redo my review appropriately

Yelp
Food was excellent. Had to keep myself from "awoo"ing after each bite. http://bit.ly/41iFYGH (Google Willo the Corgi) Not really...but it was delicious. Service seemed on point. We had a guy who had a sommelier badge in his shirt. He complimented our bottle that we'd brought with us and ended up serving the entire meal. I didn't question it. Ambience was loud casual. Still wore slacks and a button down shirt and that felt appropriate. Came out first with some grilled octopus. The tentacle came out on top of some shishito peppers with a lemony hummus and mandarin slices. Strange mix, ate it all. Sampled the rack of lamb. Pretty tasty but only had a bite or two. Iberico pork was the bomb. So many slices of perfectly cooked pork loin topped with cherry, peach and balsamic. Weird eating fruit as dinner on meat. Delicious nonetheless. Even the mustardy sauce worked and the pea puree almost propped up the pieces of pork. Fun visit for an occasion. Didn't seem horribly intimate and that's okay sometimes. May return someday for breakfast? Dinner was a win, though.

Yelp
Willow was such a great time. The food was delicious and the staff was welcoming ! The atmosphere was amazing. It was nice, quiet and chill. I'm already planning my next visit here. It's also attached to a hotel so I might have to do a staycation! Willow was such a great time. The food was delicious and the staff was welcoming ! The atmosphere was amazing. Yelp
First, let's talk about Gabby. Gabby is the best waitress that I've dealt with in a really really long time. Very engaging very attentive very happy very loving. She was just my all-time favorite. I'd go to Willow just to see her now. Let the avocado toast was amazing and so were the fingerling potatoes. They were really good also champagne. sat in this little room with a great view of J Street. Lots of people watching.

Yelp
Breakfast, this time second day being here, I ordered the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with a side of egg. Latte vs cappuccino to drink. The thick, bouncy, fluffy in the middle pancake had a crisp outter of that you pleasantly crunch into. The enjoyable combination of lemon and their house syrup was combined by sweet rhubarb. This combination was flavorful, to over power in sweets due to a nice acid balance. The latte comes with out sugar; so I added my mine and very honestly that as well was delicious.

Yelp
This place stood out when me and my husband decided to dine here. My husband chose this place to take me for my birthday and it was one of the restaurants I wanted to try during the dine downtown offerings so it was a win win for both. It is walking distance from the doco area and love how it is a corner restaurant with large windows. Walking in gives you city vibes and the decor was very chic. I decided to order off the dine downtown menu which was a three course set at a fixed price. Each of the dishes were well plated and tasted so delicious my coworkers were asking where i had gone when i posted on instagram. My husband ended up getting the paccheri one of the pasta dishes. We were seated right away and our server was knowledgeable about the dishes and offered his recommendations and very accommodating Would definitely come again.

Yelp
Went for Happy Hour. Menu is limited but there are decent options. Had the spicy capellini and it was very good. I'd have liked a bit of parmigiana on top, but the flavors were amazing and it had a kick but not too spicy to enjoy. The tequila cocktail was also very good and refreshing. Will definitely come back during regular hours

Yelp
If you know, you know! Just in case you don't, check out my review.. We decided to have brunch at The Willow, prior to checking out of hotel. We had to head to airport after eating, well due to a large to go order that was placed prior to ours caused our food to be delayed. The waiter continued to check on us and was very apologetic about delay. We were getting a little nervous about the time, because our food had not arrived! We did receive our food and it tasted great. We were given a discount on our bill! It is a nice cozy atmosphere.

Yelp
We had a good meal at Willow as part of Sacramento's Dine Downtown program where you get a 3 course meal for $45 I had - Beet salad - Cabonara - Chocolate cake The beet salad was nicely presented and tasty. The pasta was delicious. They make it in house and you can tell because it has a great "bite" to it (I loved the texture). The sauce had a good flavor. The chocolate cake was rich with a yummy mousse and the raspberry balanced well with the sweetness. Our waiter Joseph was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Great date night spot with beautiful vibes! My boyfriend and I came here for a date night and from start to finish it was such a pleasant experience. The customer service was great and while it wasn't too packed (we came a bit later) the staff still made us feel welcome and taken care of. The interior is gorgeous, I especially loved the purple tones, though we did wish the lighting was a bit dimmer to set more of a romantic vibe. Still, it felt modern and inviting, perfect for a night out. I ordered the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. Very flavorful without being too sweet or too bland. My boyfriend had the pasta with shrimp, and while it wasn't his favorite, I personally loved it and thought it was delicious. My drink was also great, wish I could remember the name because I'd definitely order it again! Overall would give this place 5 stars and would love to try other items! Overall, I'd totally come back and explore more of the menu. Not sure my boyfriend would rush to, but I was a fan. Would you like a more cheeky or minimalist version too?

Yelp
My best friend and I came here for lunch on a Sunday . This is a cute restaurant located inside a hotel if I'm correct its called the Exchange . The building is beautiful the hotel looks really nice at the lobby . Once you enter the restaurant is to your right . We came here for lunch but the menu was not ready yet we were only able to order for the bar menu so we got a delicious soup and a Caesar salad. Our waiter/mixologist Dillion was amazing he made us some drinks they were delicious. He was super attentive and nice . The inside is really nice and elegant I can't wait to go back to try the lunch and dinner menu .

Yelp
A coworker and I went to try out The Willow in Sacramento on 4th and J Street...let me tell you (EVERYTHING) we tried was TOP Notch FABULOSO!!! Did you hear me?!?! FABULOSO!!! We started off with the Mixed Green Salad...so fresh from the fresh greens, the sweet/firm cherry tomatoes to the croutons everything just married together perfectly and it was topped off with a very nice tasting vinaigrette. Then we enjoyed the MOST delicious Egg Plant Parmesan OH MY, my mouth is watering just remembering how delicious this was...the egg plant was cooked to perfection with these crunchy edges along the sides of the egg plant. Topped with a perfectly delicious marinara sauce with creamy cheese layered all in between the dish...OH My goodness this is definitely a MUST try...if I'm in the area I'm getting this dish for a carry out lunch!!! Oh yes and it was pared with the sweetest asparagus perfectly cooked...all very delicious!!! Then we tried The Roasted Rack of Lamb...this was perfectly and tenderly cooked and seasoned to perfection (let me tell you!!! You will not be disappointed) the entire dish was delectable...it also had a pesto green sauce with mint flavors that added and enhanced the flavors of deliciousness to this dish. It was paired with sweet baby carrots and broccoli...I'm telling you I was ready to just lick all my plates clean...!!! Just delectable a definite MUST try!!! We topped off our dinner with a huge piece of delicious tiramisu which was very, very flavorful and I tried the peaches with snickerdoodle crust topped with ice cream...just super yummy!!! My co worker enjoyed their dry white wine which she completely enjoyed and I had a unique drink I believe it was called No Need to Bob made with Markers Mark and I really enjoyed my drink as well!!! Our server was just a tremendous as our meal. He answered all our questions. He was very knowledgeable on the items on the menu and his recommendations were very much appreciated!!! I apologize my memory bank does not serve me very well at my age and I'm terrible with names...but our server and the staff were over the top kind and very helpful...Our compliments to the chef!!! Go in and enjoy everyone!!! You will not be disappointed...We will definitely go back to try the Ribeye next!!! The only regret I have is I didn't take time to photograph our dishes before I ate we began eating our meal!!!

Yelp
Having brunch at Willow. We tried the Hamburger and Pork Belly Benedict. The burger was topped with a sweet onion relish rather than grilled onions, which made it a different layer of flavor. It came with fresh garlic steak fries, which was delicious. The pork belly Benedict was delicious with a very fresh poached egg, on top of English muffin, and a very fresh spring mix salad. Our server, Gabby is a gem. She's so sweet and bubbly, and knows the menu very well. She's a great help when you're indecisive.

Yelp
I attended a bridesmaids dinner in Willow's private room, separated from the main dining area by a curtain. It was very spacious and like the rest of the restaurant, had great aesthetic. Unfortunately, the service and food were subpar and make me believe that Willow is a gorgeous restaurant, but not necessarily one for delicious food. It was impossible to get timely service as we were in the private room and it took forever just for 5 pasta dishes to come out. The focaccia was thick and gummy and served with a small bowl of balsamic (no oil for some reason), meatballs were dry and dense, and rigatoni was bland, watery, and not al dente. However- the cocktails made the experience bearable...the raspberry lemon drops were quite good. Considering the meal averaged $100+ per seat, I would have expected higher food quality and timely service.

Yelp
This is a great spot to catch brunch. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or any special occasion. I'd love to come back and try more of the menu. I'd recommend the pancakes if you're coming in for brunch.

Yelp
We celebrated our anniversary at Willow and it was a special time for sure. We arrived and entered through the hotel lobby and checked in for our reservation. We were seated quickly and offered Prosecco. It was very good and a great way to kick off our dinner. The restaurant is decorated like a lounge and very chic. We ordered the beet salad which was so light and fresh, our entrees, and wine. The service was very quick and the staff were educated in pairing wine with the food and very nice about everything! We felt very welcomed and celebrated on our special day.

Yelp
I visited the willow with friends, we went in for lunch we absolutely loved the fig bruschetta and the misticanza greens salad for our shared appetizer. The steak sandwich & gnocchi was the best part of our main dishes. The drink menu was unapproachable but I tried the Hugo spritz that the server recommended. It wasn't on the menu however it was delightful. My new favorite go to spritz. Service was excellent but they can use a better drink menu options. Great wine selection.

Yelp
Had dinner reservations on Valentine's Day for a party of 4 at 7:30pm. My party and I arrived at 7:15pm. The individual who checked us in was very kind and informed us that they were running "a few minutes behind" and if we would like, we could get a complimentary drink at the bar. As we waited, we headed to the bar and the bartender was confused when we said they had informed us drinks were "complimentary". Fast forward, we were seated at 8:20pm (almost an hour after our reservations). I understand being behind a few minutes on Valentine's Day BUT almost an HOUR?! Geez. Where do I begin with the food.. We ordered the rigatoni and it was undercooked. When we informed our waitress, we let them know that we would just prefer it to go considering it was a four course meal and we were already waiting for our next meal -- surf and turf. Surf and turf was cooked WRONG. They didn't bother asking us who got what when they dropped the plates off at the table. My partner got my order (well done) and I got his (medium rare). His order (medium rare) came out blue rare. At that point, we were so hungry and frustrated, we just dealt with it. Our waitress was really friendly and nice.. but horrible service. We waited almost 20 minutes for silverware and by the time we received it, our food was cold. They packed our "to go" order of the pastas which was the rib eye rigatoni and when we got home to unbox it, we received a completely DIFFERENT order; a different pasta with NO sauce what so ever (**picture included). Overall, for the price of this place ($175/person) and the food + service we received, it was most certainly NOT WORTH IT!! Super disappointed after reading the current reviews. They shouldn't over book if they're going to seat people almost an hour after their reservations. Got there at 7:15pm and left the restaurant at 11:30pm. Over 4 hours later.... NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Dined at Willow for Father's Day with my family, for my father and myself. We originally had reservations at 12:30, but my sister wanted to dine with us. So we made a change the morning of without issue. My main family arrived about 10-15 minutes early, and we checked with the host. We waited for maybe 10 minutes while our table was set and then were promptly seated. We look a little time to look over the menu and what Willow had to offer. We started with just ordering drinks and the Banana Nut Bread appetizer. The service seemed really off/slow for some reason. It took a while to initially get our drinks first. We got our appetizers first, but were still waiting on our drinks for a while after. Then it took a while for someone to come by and refill our glasses throughout our dining experience. And lastly it took a while to get someone's attention just to get my father some bread. I don't know if they focus more on getting people seated and set, and then go off and do their own thing. But we literally tried getting the attention of our waiter or another waiter several times to no avail. One of those times my girlfriend literally made eye contact with the other male waiter, but he just walked away towards the bar and to the back area. I don't know if the waiters/waitresses assist others tables or not. But our waiter was behind the bar at the time, so it was impossible to get his attention either. I will say there was an older female waitress who was extremely nice and friendly. And went ijt her way to speak to my father and make him laugh. And she also asked what we ordered and said what dishes were her favorite. It wasn't a required thing from her, but was a nice gesture and really helped the experience. My sons lemon pancake arrived a little overdone on top and black towards the edges. It definitely looked overdone to all of us, but after some deliberation he decided to eat it anyways. Ot seemed better interally which was a positive. My girlfriend also got a white wine to go with her pasta, and I noticed the glass looked extremely thin at the top. And her glass literally ended up shattering while she was trying to wipe it off a bit, and the glass hit my arm and fell in our seat. We all were shocked that happened, but thankfully, our waiter replaced her glass without issue. Also just note that Willow doesn't take cash, which I haven't come across in a restaurant. But is something in general that bothers me with food/drinks places, as cash is legal tender and should be accepted everywhere. Overall: Decor was really nice and the food was great. Waitress who didn't even serve us was really friendly. Service was very slow in several instances, and had to wait longer than expected at times. To get things or to just be seen. Although the food was good, I don't know if with everything else that I'd go out of my way to come back.

Yelp
Food 7.5/10. I had the Campanelle and it tasted very fresh but for the price, it was not worth it. Prince Edward Island mussels 7/10. It was nothing to be excited about. Drink 7.5/10. I had the royal alcazar. It did not have hints of blueberry. Overall, tried it but forgot about it. Staff and ambiance was nice but did not stand out.

Yelp
Amazing service, gorgeous interior, and yummy food! I didn't order any cocktails, but heard from others in my group that they were fantastic. The pasta was good, it definitely tasted very fresh and flavorful. The ceasar salad was also great, very crispy and lots of flavor. The focaccia didn't blow me away as I expected it too. More bready than the general oily focaccia I've had previously, but still good. Great for scooping up extra pasta sauce.

Yelp
I came in with my hubs and MIL for my birthday. It's a pretty restaurant but I do have a few gripes. The good: I enjoyed the duck dish and my MIL enjoyed her branzino. Hubs also liked the appetizers. The brussels and the meatballs were standouts. The restaurant is very pretty. The drinks were very good! The Light the Beam tasted like a Warhead, definitely on the sour side. The bad: My hubs said that the pork chops he had were the driest he had ever had in his life. The seating it very strange - The booth style seats were placed so low, that the table came up to my neck, pretty much. I'm 5'4, which is pretty average height for a woman. Hubs is 6 foot and the tables was weirdly high even for him, but not as bad as it was for me. For the price, I am not sure it was worth it. I'd come back if someone else wanted to go though.

Yelp
The meatballs and chicken breast were amazing, I would definitely order those 2 items again. The service was attentive and friendly. This is definitely a place for special occasions, I went here for Christmas dinner and it is a business casual vibe. I would come back here again.

Yelp
I made a reservation for my best friend's birthday dinner because she wanted Italian food and I've been wanting to try this restaurant. Upon walking in, we were immediately welcomed by the soft lighting and simple, yet elegant decor. Our waitress was very kind and she gave us great recommendations for appetizers, food, and drinks! The meatballs were tender and very flavorful. The Paccheri dish was served with a delicious tomato based sauce and prawns. The Bucatini Carbonara dish was creamy, and the pancetta was cooked perfectly. The Campanelle dish was served with a pesto sauce, and topped with ricotta and pine nuts. All three pasta dishes were well prepared and had lots of flavor, so it was hard to pick a favorite. I definitely recommend this place for a nice intimate dinner, or a special birthday dinner.

Yelp
I have been here twice. The inside is so cute and the service was great. I loved the drinks both times! Signature cocktails are my favorite.

Yelp
We went on a Friday morning and it was very quiet inside, no wait and quick to be seated. Friendly server who was attentive. We got the ricotta pancake and omelette and they were both very tasty. I think it was perfectly sweet even without the syrup. I would be curious to try other dishes besides what they have on their breakfast menu. The only thing was that the booth did have some crumbs left from a previous guest.

Yelp
Food was amazing and the ambience spectacular!!! Our waiter was an excellent food guide and his recommendations were spot on for our tastes!

Yelp
I visited this restaurant while in Sacramento on a work trip. The staff (including my waiter, Joseph) were super friendly and the service was fast. I went late on a weeknight (around 9PM) and there weren't many guests, which was nice because I don't enjoy eating at overcrowded restaurants. (If you don't want to eat when it's crowded, I'd suggest going late during a weeknight like I did.) I ordered the Campanelle pasta, a "Princess Peach" non-alcoholic cocktail, and a scoop of blood orange gelato. I believe the blood orange gelato may be a seasonal item. All three were delicious, but my favorite item was definitely the cocktail. I really appreciate that Willow had non-alcoholic cocktail items on the menu. I'm not a big fan of alcohol, so I'm used to having my options at restaurants just be sodas and waters. But there's a decent selection of non-alcoholic cocktails to choose from at Willow, and they all looked really appetizing based on the menu. Overall, I had a really good experience and I'll likely be coming back on my next work trip to Sacramento!

Yelp
So beautiful! Ryan was our server and gave us a great experience. I was so caught up, I didn't even take pics of the inside.. but I will be back! ;) The food is pricey-ish, however the quality makes it understandable. My 2 friends and I had a mimosa, Ryan was able to make me a lavender flavored, and they had cranberry and apple. The restaurant is inside a hotel, but it feels completely separate. Except if you need to use the restroom, you have to go through the lobby and walk down stairs.. but the bathroom is so pretty. It's worth it! Overall, 9/10!

Yelp
My wife decided to take my sister and me out for a birthday dinner (my sister's). As we both like Italian food, my wife selected this venue. Our server was quite bubbly. Very attentive and perky, she got along well with the two ladies of the group (me, being a sullen man with a lot on my mind, was in my own head). However, she seemed nice. It did take awhile for a full meal, though. While we were talking a lot and enjoying each other's company, we were though for seemingly two hours....and we don't talk that much. For appetizers, food, and a birthday scoop of sorbet, well.....it seemed that there were some delays between courses. It is what it is, but plan to spend a good amount of time there. The meatball appetizer was pretty impressive. They were extremely juicy and fresh, and coupled with the mozzarella balls to add texture, it was quite good. The foccacia was an Italian taste with a cornbread texture....different, but delicious. My main course was carbonara, in which it was suggested I add chicken. I wish I hadn't....the chicken took away from the carbonara, but live and learn. Still good. My wife's steak was cooked perfectly, and the asparagus had the right amount of bite. Kind of weird to serve a steak without a starch, but overall, a tasty meal. Whether the steak was worth $60+ is something else entirely, but my wife didn't mind taking us out and thought it was a good deal, so there you go. Overall, it is a nice place to go for a fun occasion.

Yelp
Went for brunch on 8/3. The food here is always good but I want to shout out Gabby. Gabby was attentive, kind, and didn't hover too much. You can tell that she loves her job. She even brought out a special desert for my friend. Ask for Gabby. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Came here for a family birthday dinner after hearing so much about it. Valet parking was a breeze and the ambience is beautiful. Tyler was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and gave excellent recommendations. The panzanella salad we ordered on his recommendation was delicious, and we all loved our entrees (paccheri pasta, bucatini carbonara, and a very unique and fresh take on eggplant parmesan). Excellent customer service, attentive but not overbearing. I'll be back!

Yelp
It's very nice beautiful atmosphere. Cute stylish furniture. But service is very rude and ignorant. Place was empty. Only two tables was occupied. And I have to wait for waiter so long and call him so many times. And still no one showed up. And after make mistake with our order. Very not welcoming atmosphere . Never again.

Yelp
Ambiance was nice. My medium rare steak was not good smothered in sauce, it was dry. However, our server was great! Our cocktail was on point.

Yelp
Willow had been on my must-visit list for a while, and I'm glad I finally made it! The decor and ambiance were even more stunning in person--photos truly don't capture its full charm. Our server, Ryan, was fantastic, and the food was absolutely worth every penny. Whether you're a Sacramento local or just passing through the City of Trees, Willow is a must-visit spot!

Yelp
Checked into my hotel close to 10pm and this spot was just about to close. Server was able to get my order in while they processed my checkin. Food was presented well and packed beautifully for me to take up to my room.

Yelp
I at least stop by for a drink when I'm in Sacramento. I stay at the adjoining hotel whenever I'm there so it's very convenient. The happy hour specials are very reasonable and the selected wines are really good. I've had cocktails here too and the bartenders are always great. The service is always very good as well. They have a nice and friendly staff that is engaging but won't chat with you all night. So whether you're there with people and talk to them or just want to grab a drink on your own while working it's a perfect spot. It's cute inside, too. But not stuffy which I appreciate!

Yelp
What an absolutely lovely establishment! I was staying a few blocks away and looking for a place to have a nice dinner by myself and decided on Willow. It's located in the Kimpton and I kind of wish I had stayed there instead of the crappy hotel I was in LOL. I sat up at the bar and chatted with my bar neighbor and the great bartender. I liked that the menu was small so it wasn't super overwhelming - but it was STILL hard to choose what to get! With the bartender's help, I decided on the Paccheri for the duck and it was absolutely delicious! The portion size was perfect for me with allowing me to save room for dessert (something I typically do not do!). As I'm not a huge dessert person to begin with, I let the bartender choose for me and went with the Affogato which was especially yummy to my savory over sweet palate! Great option for a delightful meal in the downtown/Golden 1 Center area!

Yelp
*Visited in early winter 2024* Tasty and atmospheric but runs expensive for the portions. There were some true standouts! The Willow Bruschetta (5/5) is delicious. Soft, housemade sourdough with creamy goat cheese and figs--very decadent. The Paccherri (4/5) had a great texture, but the ragu was not meaty enough given the advertising for braised duck; I didn't really get much beyond the ~essence~ of the meat. I probably wouldn't do the Polenta or the mocktails again. Menu is creative and intentional, so would definitely give it a try at least once, but may not be a staple.

Yelp
Another disappointing visit. I wanted to come and try the happy hour and then work my way into the dinner menu. We started at the bar (very nice bartender) he was attentive and gave great suggestions. Finally, we move over to the dining area and our waiter, who we thought was the busser paid no attention to us. Mind you, we're the only ones in the dining room at this time. He's cleaning a table next to us then comes and pours our water , doesn't introduce himself or say anything! After a few times of him passing us I ask if he is our waiter which he confirms he is. Finally he brings us 2 menus to share between 4 people and one menu was for lunch that he tossed at my friend. We finally decided to just walk out. Note, Happy hour is only at the bar.

Yelp
We came for the regular menu, but didn't realize that there was a plated dinner for New Year's Eve which was a pretty steep price per person. We ended up staying and had a great 7 course meal! My favorite was the olive oil cake (which isn't pictured sorry!) They had a DJ, served dinner with a nice note for the holiday, and provided a nice intimate dinner experience! I would go back for another holiday dinner or nice date night. Just make sure you are aware of the nights that it is a set menu.

Yelp
Had a really nice dinner here with friends last week. Made reservations on open table but when we arrived the restaurant was empty other than one table. Ambiance was cozy, and chairs were comfortable. Service was good. Attentive yet not constantly hovering. Drinks were really good, started with a cocktail, and then had a glass of wine. Wine selection is excellent. The food was excellent. Everything cooked perfectly, well seasoned and flavorful. Would love to dine here again soon.

Yelp
Went to Willow for dinner. This place is connected to a hotel called The Exchange. There's valet parking available for guests dining at Willow or staying at the hotel for $10.00. If you pay by card on your phone for the valet there's a processing fee which is annoying, but it's nice you can request your car from your phone. Willow is cute inside. We ordered the focaccia bread. Honestly it wasn't that great and very oily. I can't remember what my friend ordered, but I ordered the Miss Willow drink and the Campanelle pasta. Drink was cute and tasted okay. Pasta was okay...not the best but the not the worst. Both my friend and I agreed the portion sizes were too small for the price and quality of the food. We asked for a dessert menu but they didn't have one but were able to list us the desserts. Nothing sounded good so we skipped on that. Also the service was superrrrr slow! I don't think I'd return as the food doesn't stand out, service is slow, and it's overpriced.

Yelp
Our bartender turned our night into an epic adventure, crafting customized drinks while we eagerly waited for our table. My friend wasn't a fan of his drink and he got, a hassle-free remake --now that's superb service. Our massive group snagged the private room in the back, and the food was so good and didn't break our bank! The duck pasta was bomb, the seasonal short ribs were melt-in-your-mouth savory, and the NY steak was yummy! This is my cute girls night out go to!
