Willow

Willow definitely deserves to win the title of One Michelin Star for its outstanding contemporary Asian cuisine. I have been there twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. I am so glad to conclude that the quality has been consistently high. Willow is highly acclaimed because of its refined use of Japanese ingredients combined with solid French techniques. Among all dishes, I like the Amadai with crispy scales and Koshikari rice served with fish bone broth most. They are the BEST of the BEST among those I have ever tried in other fine dining restaurants. If possible, remember to book the counter seats. It is indeed a pleasure watching the chefs work. The overall atmosphere is casual and cosy. It is a restaurant I regularly visit when I visit Singapore!

Wonderful experience - dined with a group of friends and we were seated at the back of the restaurant which felt private. Courses and portions were generous which is unlike other fine dining, and flavours were very well balanced. They recently renovated - Will be back!

Enjoyable to sit at the counter watching the team work through their sequence of dishes, a very focused and quiet dance. We added a bit of sake to pair and dove into the meal. Quick set of complex bites, always nice to get the chutoro-persimmon combination. The bread course mixed a beautiful milk bread with super salty & punchy butter. Chawanmushi always hits the hard to consume consistency (for myself at least). Samegarei is a highly obscure fish and its feature in an allium focused pyre was an early star in the meal. Id suggest googling Samegarei to get the full feeling of the fish - after the meal of course. Next was a perfectly charcoaled quail division, with a melange of spice, salt and a petite century egg. The starting dessert was a creamy sweet and salty macadamia ice cream. The financier also brought the duality of muted sweetness along with the minor salt of truffle and butter. Paused under the scaffolding to dodge a heavy downpour and then happily strolled off into the afternoon.

I find the NYE menu prices pretty high for the amount of food provided. The lobster was great , sweet and succulent , however too few a pieces. Noodles were done perfect, wouldnt opt for the sambal inside Chicken biscuit soup was perfect too! It be great even if it went with the noodles or if not more bread ! Adorable fluffy bread Foie gras starter with coffee meringue was perfect amongst the 3 with well balanced flavour. Second was the floss like sponge. Abalone was well done, if they added a splash of egg yolk probably it be even better ! I honestly thought the miyazaki beef was gonna come as a half serving but it didnt… it wasnt enough to fill the tummy for the male. Only females will find the dinner filling

It's great to have some local representation on Michelin, and the flavours do not disappoint. There are some very creative use of textures and ingredients to emphasize each dish and represent local flavours, I can tell a lot of thought has gone into crafting each dish. I love the attention put on the plating, and every dish looks like a beautiful floral arrangement and has a magical quality. However, the same few edible flowers are used in every dish so it became a little repetitive. After viewing Culinary Class Wars, I am also influenced by the judge's opinion on edible flowers that they don't really do much for the dish. There are also some dishes that I just didn't get, such as the cold soup - it was refreshing but I cannot appreciate that flavour. Staff were friendly and very helpful, but perhaps need to increase their volume and enunciation while they are explaining the dish, as I couldn't catch a lot of what they were saying. There were also moments that I could observe the kitchen atmosphere becoming very tense, as the head chef was unhappy and throwing vulgarities. Definitely not a pleasant moment for the diners at the counter either. Other than that, there were also slight inconsistencies in serving size - most notable being the bread dish. Two of us got to share a loaf while a solo diner beside us got the same. So perhaps each diner should get 1 instead. Overall a positive experience.

Great experience at Willow. Some of the meals were excellent and beautifully presented. However, the explanation of the dishes could be improved — it would be nice to have more relevant details about the ingredients and inspiration behind each course.

What an amazing experience! Outstanding food and service! Kif, Kat and Jimmy made for an truly unforgettable evening! We had a place at the kitchen counter which allowed us to sneak at the magic happening behind the counter. Food was delicious and beautifully prepared. Even though we were one of (if not The) slowest eaters of the evening, we were not rushed at all, but given our time to eat, drink and chat. Thank you to the whole team for making it such a memorable experience!

Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and was the perfect fusion of modern and Asian cuisine. We opted for the lavish wine pairing which did not disappoint. However, our only slight negative comment would be that we were immediately offered a glass of champagne on arrival, without knowing if it was chargeable or not, or what the wine pairings to follow would be. It then transpired the first wine pairing was a champagne also, and it was brought to the table very soon after the first. So felt a bit rushed to move on as the first course arrived. If we had known this, we would not have ordered the first glass of champagne, as we were then sat with 2 full glasses of champagne each during the first course.
