Detroit’s Best Hidden Bars and Speakeasies | Eater Detroit

"Just under downtown’s Savannah Blue, Willow is dominated by just that: A giant faux willow tree anchors the basement space and extends its branches, decked out with hundreds of twinkling fairy lights, up into the ceiling. Willow is Detroit’s first Black-owned speakeasy bar and pays homage to the state’s rich Black history. Pictures of famous Black Detroiters line the walls, and the spirits and cocktails celebrate Southern heritage too, like the Willow Old Fashioned with Uncle Nearest bourbon or rye, pecan syrup and orange and chocolate bitters. Make a reservation or join a waitlist ahead of your visit on Tock." - Mickey Lyons

I am a size 1x or 2x i stopped in the store asking about Jess and Jane tops. I was told they do not carry those sizes for big women... Now there is a wonderful Boutique in Allen Park that is happy to assist with beautiful clothing in my size. To bad you lost out on a shopper.

I love the Willow Tree and buy clothes and gifts here multiple times per year. They have beautiful, high quality clothing that you can’t find other places. I love their jewelry, shoes, and accessories, too! Their new renovation has the store looking incredible. I always have a great experience when I come here.

I have shopped this store for the past 15-20 years and have always enjoyed my experience until today. I tried to return a shirt that was purchased while my mother was actively dying that was to be worn at her funeral and was never worn. I was told I was beyond the 14 day return policy! Are you kidding me - who has a 14 day policy? I will never shop here and would never recommend the store to anyone!!

Amazing produce. They also have fresh refrigerated food and homemade sweets and treats. Good prices. Great family run stands. We stop every time we go that way. The spinach pies are amazing and so are the cookies.

I love the Willow Tree!! Shopped there numerous times over the last 10yrs. I get compliments all the time on stuff I have purchased there. Staff are always curteous and they even call me on my birthday every year. Janelle and the crew treat you like family!!! Can't say enough wonderful things!!!

The women that work in this store are amazing. Always so welcoming and willing to help find the perfect outfit for any occasion. They offer an amazing variety of items that you won’t find anywhere else. Love the personal service and the passion these women have for what they do.

I have shopped the Willow Tree for years and now there is one location left in Wyandotte Michigan. I loved it here until I bought something off a mannequin and did not look inside the purse I bought. I was shopping there on another day and informed one of the employees the purse had stains in it who have waited on me many times before. The employee said bring the purse back and talk with Jannelle who will return on Tuesday so she printed out my receipt and attached it to the purse in a different color that I liked. I came on Tuesday and the purse I wanted was removed and place on a mannequin. The employee said to bring the original receipt because she could scan it without having the tag on it. I spoke to Janelle and she stated with aggression she needed the tag off the purse and it had been more than 14 days. If the employee would have said that on the first visit I would have not bother to talk to angry Janelle on the second visit. This tells me that I'm not the first person who has returned an item and had no problem because the employee would not have suggested for me to bring the purse back after 14 days or bring the origina receipt. I have no problem with store policy but I do have a problem with angry customer service. I will take my business elsewhere from now on. I am officially divorced from the Willow Tree!

I thought the layout was good and a good variety of clothes. None of it was the style for my teenage daughter but I didn't think much of it was too old or odd. I did think some of the things were Oddly way over priced, while other things seemed priced consistent with a small business on main street in any small town.

Yelp
My mom 78, bought 160 bucks worth of items, paid cash. The receipt states refunds within 14 days. I went for a refund. All tags were on the items, was told I could not get a refund, store credit only, as they were gifts?? What??? I then said, she paid cash, was told, well, we don't have cash in the store. Here is the receipt. I was told by Diane (that sold her the items) that she did not recall the purchase and obviously did not mention a gift receipt. Crappy store policy not to honor their return policy. The owner did come out and state, only an exchange. Horrible policy! The sales gal was trying to help me and make conversation, and was nice. I was also told, wow, we usually do not do exchanges. If you are a small business owner, honor your policies.

Yelp
Very poor return policy. To return 2 pieces of clothing with tags still intact and well within their strict, and quite frankly unreasonable (compared to most other stores) 14-day return policy, the clerks hemmed and hawed, inspecting the clothing, and going back and forth to someone in the back presumably in charge to find out if I can return the clothing. They were VERY hesitant and acted cold as though doing ME a favor. I was told I can be granted an exchange. I asked why I could not receive a refund and was told they didn't know why. So I asked for a store credit as I was pressed for time - then again the clerk went back to the nameless, faceless person in the back who had to grant permission for a store credit (yes, really). I do not recommend any merchant who does not take care of their customers when a purchase doesn't work out.

Yelp
This is my favorite store! I used to think it was too "old-ladyish" but over the last few years, they've really expanded their selection and I can ALWAYS find something that I love here now. All of my favorite dresses and shoes have come from the Willow Tree! I have some pretty stellar jeans from here, as well. I also really love all of the accessories they have. Earrings, necklaces, Brighton jewelry and watches, cozy socks, belts, cute purses, tablet cases...I even bought something to hang up in my house here once! I could spend my entire salary at this store. I always try Willow Tree first when I need to buy gifts for the women in my life--and I never have to go anywhere else. There is definitely something for every woman here!

Yelp
This was the place to get clothes when I was in high school. The store was the best place for coats and fancy dresses.

Yelp
This store is more age-versatile than a lot of people give it credit for. There are styles for teenagers and young adults as well as styles for older women. Lots of really awesome jewelry, too. I've gotten jeans, sweaters, tanks and t-shirts, blouses, cocktail dresses, formal dresses, charm bracelets, necklaces, earrings, purses, and even art for my walls from this place. The salespeople are extremely helpful and friendly, too. I love stopping in whenever I'm in Wyandotte.

Yelp
This is THE place to go to find unique and wonderful items. The clothing is high quality and mainly all made in the U.S.A., which I absolutely love. When I shop here, I know that what I buy will last and I won't see a lot of people wearing the same things as me. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help, and not pushy at all. They care about their customers and it shows. I would much rather shop here than go anywhere else.
