"The original Willy Taco is here in Spartanburg on E Main Street. The bar is smaller than its sibling locations but memorable for its devoted staff and all-juice margaritas. The Dang Chimichanga is massive, and a cheeseburger taco is a standout on the fusion-leaning menu. Bar lead Casey Outen makes balanced and inventive cocktails and is often at the Spartanburg store. An extensive tequila list is one of the best in the state, and the fried avocado taco remains a top pick, even after two decades." - Stephanie Burnette

Well seasoned food, usually taco spots are bland and colorless, but this place adds contrast and saturated to the food. Great waiter, and atmosphere ( Dog friendly) fast service, small but still spacious. PATAGONIA STEAK TACO / KOREAN BBQ / FRIES-SPICY RANCH

I took my kids here and we split brisket nachos for appetizer. I ordered a shrimp taco and a mahi taco. The shrimp taco was absolutely delicious and I would definitely order that again. The mahi taco was a bit dry and I probably would not do that again for that reason. The brisket nachos were good as well. I do wish there was a little bit more brisket, but overall it was good. My kids ordered Nashville Hot, bacon cheeseburger, Patagonia steak, mother clucker with the fries on the side. Both kids finished all their tacos and said they'd order them again. The fries were good too, but I think they were too full to finish. Wed probably skip the fries next time. I wish I could give 3.5 stars for service. Not terrible, but she wasn't quite as attentive from the get go. A table that was seated after us was served first, and we sat waiting after we finished the appetizer before she came to take our taco order. The tables are tight and I was slightly uncomfortable in my seat because the person behind me sat so far away from their table. Lighting was also off - I essentially ate dinner in my own shadow. The weather was nice but we weren't given the option to sit outside even though there were available tables. All said and done, I'd go back but specifically request to sit outside.

Google
I have eaten at Willy Taco on numerous occasions and they never disappoint. This time we started with the brisket egg rolls, followed by the Willy Cheesesteak quesadilla and the Bourbon and Bacon quesadilla and Papas Fritas on the side. The service, as always, was fantastic. The food was spot on and the bourbon barbecue sauce was out of this world! Top it all off with great music and it made for a perfect lunch. Would definitely recommend it, and will absolutely be going back.

Google
The food felt like American Mexican. Both Vegeterian tacos, cauliflower and avocado were on sweeter side and with average flavor. Tacos are larger than average, but traditional Mexican taste is missing. My daughter liked her shrimp taco. So did my wife who ordered a veg bowl. The chips we ordered were fresh and flavorful. No much difference between regular and spicy salsa. Vibe and service are good.

Google
Another excellent meal at Willy Taco Spartanburg! The food was amazing… as always. Thank you, Brittany for outstanding customer service!!

Google
Very eclectic atmosphere. Food was very good. Not your standard Tex -Mex. Took a long time to get waited on but our server (Marlin, working out of her area) saved the day. She was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Google
Never underestimate the power of a small town restaurant! The food is delicious and someone was thinking outside the box! Brisket Eggrolls with Mac and Cheese in them?!! 😳♥️♥️♥️ The only things I would change are the salsa and the guacamole … need to have a little more kick to them… but that’s a Texan talking! The quesadillas were really good as well. GREAT service! And large portions… that part WAS Texan! Definitely going back again!

Google
These guys are the best restaurateurs in the entire Upstate! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is hip and modern, and our family loves it! A community is largely based around the local food scene. Willy Taco enhances the vibe and experience of the neighborhood. Another job well done!

Yelp
This was my second time getting Willy Taco, the first wasn't that great of an experience since I ordered on Doordash but this time was much better. I went with a friend and we got chips and queso to share, very tasty. And then I got a steak quesadilla, so delicious and she enjoyed her taco. This is a great place with cool decor but it is in a slightly odd location, luckily they have parking.

Kayla P.

Yelp
Very chill and friendly. Outdoor seating was well insulated. Service was super laid back but friendly. Shout out to Kevin. The salsa was mid (IMO) but I probably should have asked for pico instead. I got the Chipotle's chicken quesadilla and it was very good. The meat was flavorful and tender. I'd order it again!

Yelp
This is our second time visiting. Casual ambience definitely Tex-Mex but good and seasoned Tex-Mex. South Carolina doesn't have much to offer when it comes to food, in my opinion. Our first server was sweet as pie. The second young lady was equally as lovely and attentive. Service across the board was phenomenal each time we visited. The tres amigo is the perfect appetizer. The first time I had the guacamole it was the best ever. I can't say that regarding the second go. Very bland and flavorless. It taste like avocado and lime juice lol. I ordered the Mother Clucker without bacon and the brisket barbacoa. Serving sizes are HUGE! Each taco is the size of an appetizer plate about 6-7" and loaded up with meat, toppings and all the fixings. A bit overwhelming for a small person like myself. My beau had the chicken chimichanga. He loved it. He works in Construction so after being in the heat all day the serving size was perfect for him. Second go around we both got the Taco bowls. Equally delicious and HUGE! I added the cilantro lime shrimp and he added the beef. There is a lot of fixings on these salads. Although good definitely not the healthiest. Couldn't use this meal for weight watchers even if I wanted to lol. Willy Taco is a must try when in Spartanburg. Will visit again when we are in town. Oh and if it's your first visit ask for the free taco card!

Yelp
Do not let the looks fool you.. it is a good spot. The service was fast and friendly. The parking was premium. We started with the trio .. guac, salsa, and queso. The queso was solid. The guacamole could use some more seasoning and spice. They have a varied menu with tacos, quesadillas, salads , and more. Loved the street corn ... just like they serve in Texas. I liked the Korean pork taco, but it wish the tortilla was a little larger. My son loved the shrimp taco ... the sauce had a good flavor, and the shrimp were crispy. The grilled veggies were over cooked .. I am not a fan of mushy.

Tracy B.

Yelp
The Jerk Chicken Quesadillas were delicious!! Anna Grace was great and attentive on service and refills

Autumnn G.

Yelp
Walked in and was seated immediately. Had the coconut lime margarita, loved that they rim it with fresh coconut. Ordered the fresh guacamole, and it was sooo fresh and seasoned really well. I love that they added radishes and pepitas to to the guacamole, that crunch was a perfect addition. I ordered the blackened mahi taco(which was on special) the crab cake taco and the Patagonia steak taco as well as the street corn. All three tacos were not that warm. The steak on the steak taco was not seasoned well and tough. The crab cake taco was the best, very well seasoned and tasty. The mahi taco was decent but the fish was chewy. Ordered another margarita because the first one was so delicious! The waitress initially forgot to bring my street corn so they have to make me one fresh off the grill and omg it was worth the wait. One of the best I've had

Yelp
Hey, if you're looking for something a little different from other Hispanic or Latino inspired restaurants, Willy Taco is the place to go. One of my favorite items is the Willy Cheesesteak. Like a Philly Cheesesteak but in a soft tortilla wrap. 2 for that dish. Even on their busy days it's service with a smile and if they are real busy the servers let you know approximately how long of a wait you can expect.

Curtis H.

Yelp
The food is amazing. Smoked wings and Papas Fritas are delicious! Great atmosphere. A very cool concept that is well managed and executed!

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Stopped in during a business trip in the area for a quick lunch on the way through SC. The service at the bar was quick, ambiance was laid back casual open and fun. The food, had the pimento tacos which were amazingly delicious and an unsweet iced tea. The environment made me want to stay longer and can imagine the locals loving this place for happy hour and or dinner with friends. Wouldn't hesitate to stop in again.

Traci T.

Yelp
dangit. wanted to give a great review because of the staff. they were great- attentive and responsive- but the food.... the Avacado tempura was cold and greasy. The Patagonia steak taco which sounded amazing had deep fried onions for a topper which were also cold and greasy. The meat had a funny taste as well. We love Mexican food and want to support local businesses but come on man.. do it right.

Sherry F.

Yelp
We've been coming here for about 3 years now. LOVE the food! The street corn fritters are amazing. There are a few things, though, that aren't ideal: 1) The barstools are crap - so uncomfortable it's hard to sit for too long. 2) Have to beg for silverware - let's bring back the routine we were all raised on where everyone gets a fork, knife & spoon. 3) Restroom needs attention- one of the toilets has been leaking for 3 years minimum 4) Bar staff needs to be more attentive to the customers than their co-workers/friends 5) Our bartender told us there's no happy hour on Friday, however, the menu says happy hour is weekdays....of which, Friday is one Don't be deterred by this list, though! The food is so worth it!

Genevieve T.

Yelp
Nachos were really good! I got my food to go, but the staff was really nice and attentive!

Neal F.

Yelp
I get to G'ville, SC occasionally. I'm drawn to Willy Taco. I guess it's the vibe and the food is pretty good as well. I've had the tacos in the past and they're really good. I tried the smash burger and it was cooked to perfection. In every way! I did find it unusual to get a burger without mustard for it; nevertheless, it was good. Service is what these peeps do really well. Staff is always genuinely pleasant and accommodating. It's cultural. Justine was my server and she was delightful. But frankly, everyone seems to give off a vibe that is very service-oriented. Highly recommend. But if you're getting the smash burger, bring your own mustard. :-) That's not totally fair, though. They brought me some aioli-and ya' know? I think it was better.

Mia J.

Yelp
Attitude from staff is atrocious including the business in general bathroom are beyond dirty and management is not racial friendly. Food is over cooked but hey you are what you eat cheap prices for careless people. I never even ate the food I just gave the waiter a big tip and that was to get out.

Matthew L.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place! The chilly willy, the southern tide are some of our favorites. Great vibes. The cilantro lime shrimp is also yum.

Cynthia G.

Yelp
Visited Willy Taco last night and had the best evening! We were celebrating a milestone and did so festively with a flight of tasty tequilas and delicious food. The salsas are beautifully crafted, food was fresh, flavors matched perfectly, and presentation was a delight! Service was friendly and attentive from the host stand, server and bartender who helped us choose our tequila flights. Oh and prices are great! Don't think twice about visiting WT

Calvin P.

Yelp
Love the new recipe! Always great food and service. Glad to see vegan options of which this is one.

Suzanne P.

Yelp
We did a takeout meal of quesadillas and chips and queso and quac! All was prepared perfect! The vinegar based bbq sauce was amazing g too! Easy ordering online too!

Linda S.

Yelp
Tacos served up right! A big variety of unique tacos along with other menu items beyond tacos. The service was outstanding! Quickly seated and quickly served. Our waiter had a great attitude and checked on us often. The food was outstanding and the portion size was good. Well the salmon was on the small side but had a nice flavor. We spoke to the manager and he talked to us about their in house infused tequilas. Oh My Gosh! I want to come back and try them. So now Thats the plan!!!

Rhett B.

Yelp
I drove to South Carolina to visit one of my best friends. I told her I want to eat somewhere I could not eat anywhere else. I had BBQ the last 2 days so I needed a break from BBQ. She recommended Willy Taco. After I briefly looked at the menu, I was sold. Willy Taco has the feel of a hippie dive bar. There is an outdoor eating area and we were able to sit at the bar. I debated between the craft tacos, a brisket sandwich, and a burger. I decided I should go with what Willy is known for, tacos. I chose the Hot Chick, Ninja Pig, and Mother Clucker. Out of the 3, the Hot Chick was my favorite. It had a spicy and seemed to be breaded to order chicken finger with pickles and some kind of creamy and spicy ranch. The Ninja Pig was different from normal because they were out of pork. So they used brisket instead. I think this taco would have worked better with the pork. The brisket wasn't bad but just doesn't absorb juices like pork does. The Mother Clucker was ok. It had pulled chicken with bacon and cheese on it. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! If you are looking for craft tacos and a good time, go to Willy Taco.

Justin T.

Yelp
A bit of a kitschy place with the decor and the merch, but the food and drinks are top notch every time. Brunch is particularly awesome. Service is about average.

Angie B.

Yelp
My favorite Mexican restaurant in Spartanburg, SC. Staff is always friendly and have complimented the manager on the food. Especially like the chips with 3 sauces; ?three amigos? Lunch pricing even extends to Saturdays.

Lisa O.

Yelp
I have to admit I avoided Willy Taco for years because people were raving about the "fish tacos" - which I don't eat because I don't like fish. HOWEVER, someone brought me a chipotle pulled chicken quesadilla and it was one of the best foods I have ever eaten. It's now on our weekly rotation for lunch. Also, I've gotten friends going there who had never been. All in all, LOVE it. Oh, can't forget their Mexican street corn!

Steven G.

Yelp
Came back after several years and it's still one of the best taco places in the US. Love the choices and flavors for tacos.

Chris S.

Yelp
The food was almost 4 star. The service was 2 star. Our server (I hope) was new to the job. The food is worth a try. Good luck with your server. Our server did not know her products, forgot to order one of our party members' meals, and forgot a meal for a different party member sitting at a table next to us. The manager did step up big time in both cases and comped both meals along with discounts for the entire meal.

Sierra P.

Yelp
Food is hit or miss. Some stuff is great and others not so much. They do have a rotating specials menu which is nice. Good service too

Jennifer C.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite places. The atmosphere is relaxed. We have always had great service and the food and drinks are out of this world. The cauliflower power taco is a fave. We have never been disappointed eating here. It is the best.

Christopher S.

Yelp
SPARTANBURG, SC 06/20/19 LUNCH +Lots of entertaining menu options; i.e., "holy guacamole" and "mother clucker." +The serving portions are huge. I looked at my co-workers tacos and was like "dang." +Reasonably-priced Mexican fusion fare. -They did not offer fountain soft drinks, so you had to order bottles at a time. No refills. -No loyalty rewards program. -Some of the sauces were super sweet and corn syrup-like. Verdict: I would come back to try some other dishes, if I were in the area again.

Chuck L.

Yelp
Nice local spot. Different twists on Mexican foods. Very good margaritas. No wonder it is so popular

Madeliene S.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here because it's his favorite little Tex-Mexican. Great atmosphere! Very clean inside. Service is wonderful, very nice and attentive. Food was amazing!!

Daisy S.

Yelp
I had an awesome time! My brother and I stopped by for a very late lunch. I ordered an avocado taco and a mother clucker. My brother ordered a brisket taco. I really wanted some Mexican street corn, too, but I wasn't sure how soon I would be eating after this and I didn't want to fill myself up since I was staying with others. The tacos were decently sized - I left feeling as though I didn't need anything else to eat. I really loved the avocado taco. It was tempura fried perfectly. The mother clucker also has some amazing flavor and the amount of chicken was really nice for the taco size. Service was great - would totally go back!

Carlos C.

Yelp
This is the second time that we've been here and sorry to say; we're again not happy. This was 8:00 PM on a Saturday, they were not very busy. First, the place was filthy with things all over the floor and no one caring enough to take care of it all while the staff was chitchatting in a storage room by the restrooms. Our appetizer (corn fritters) finally arrived and they were brought to the table not hot and they tasted very doughy (very flour dense), browned/over cooked on the outside while tasting partly uncooked on the inside and with very few corn kernels in them. Should've taken a picture. Needless to say we did not finish them. We frequent the Willy Taco's on Laurens Road in Greenville and have ordered this appetizer with friends and it has NEVER been like this. Then we waited and waited and waited for our food when finally ready to leave, the food was brought to the table COLD!!! While the flavor of the Dang Chimichanga Burrito, the Cauliflower Power Taco and Crispy Avocado Taco was good the fact that the cooked items inside were barely lukewarm made them a disappointment! Did it sit waiting to be brought to the table somewhere?!?! This will be our last time there. I see it as a sports bar for the Eastside rather than a restaurant and not the nice atmosphere that we find in Greenville. What a shame!

Beth R.

Yelp
Fantastic food and wonderful staff! Manager Morgan and server Summer were attentive and friendly. I will definitely be back during my next visit to Sparkle City!

Paige A.

Yelp
How have I not left a review here yet?! Willy taco is such a gem of a find. It's a taco place much like a white duck taco or other taco place but they do everything really well. The Brussel appetizer and the cauliflower appetizer are unmatched. The chips and salsa trio is consistently good with well seasoned chips. I deeply appreciate how sensitive the staff are to vegan and other dietary restrictions with tons of substitute options like tofu, beyond beef, cauliflower, etc. We have eaten here probably 10 times and never had a bad meal. This place gets slammed at lunch and on the weekends so an early weekday dinner is probably the best first visit. Once you know and love the food it is worth the wait but waiting for an unknown makes the bar sometimes impossibly high. Looking forward to going back soon

Max A.

Yelp
Driving down I-85 on a Saturday and trying to get home, we were looking for some Mexican food. Random find based on the 300+++ positive reviews. I am not sure how much more I can add other than my wife said "that might have been the best Chimichanga that I have ever had." The thing is huge, like ji-mungous. Seriously, great food. I am not one for fancy "bistro" Mexican, I like it down and dirty. I loved my Flock Style, it is like a honey hot glazed goodness, the chicken was lightly fried perfectly. My cheese steak quesadilla was excellent with generous portion brisket. The dipping queso blanco sauce is to die for, literally finger licking good - cause I took my finger to get that last bit....... Margarita are decent, great flavor, decent poor - above average. Our server, who just got out of the Marines, was great. Good kid! A++++ for the manager who was on top of everything and checked on us.

Bob H.

Yelp
Tasty Mexican food in a fun environment. Friendly service although a little slow when they get busy.

Sam D.

Yelp
This is legal Mexican crack. If you like food that tastes good, but your tired of using Chipotle Away on your pants. This is the place to be. Kidding Chipotle isn't that good, that's giving them to much credit. Go here or your mom will be mad. Better yet, your dog will be mad. Better yet your crazy aunt with all the cats will be mad. Trust me, no one wants to upset the crazy aunt with cats, go before it's to late. Make sure to bring your party pants, because this salsa is addiction. The tacos are FILLED with meat. That's right, not COVID small portions at high prices, they never got the memo. Don't give them the memo or I'll tell your crazy aunt with the cats.

Brad H.

Yelp
I'm impressed. A friend recommended this place for us as we found ourselves passing through town. I had three tacos. The Southern Tide was one with crispy shrimp, smoked applewood bacon, pimento cheese, etc. Another was a marinaded steakThe Patagonia Steak and the last was a Braised Brisket with Dos Equis somehow involved in the cooking process. I was expecting somewhat standard fare, but was quite pleasantly surprised to find creative and unique flavor combinations. These are really amazing tacos. I find it difficult to call them anything other than highly creative gourmet interpretations of traditional Mexican food... If you enjoy Tex Mex and would like to see it taken to a higher level... try this place. I'm back for the third time... If this wasn't a great place trip two and three would not have happened.

Laurie R.

Yelp
I've been craving tacos so I'm glad we decided to stop here before our brewery hop visits! It was around 1:30pm on a Sunday when we stopped in. Seems like plenty of parking in the lot. We had to wait just a few minutes to get seated which wasn't an issue, it was quick enough. The service was very quick and friendly and we inspired our server to use the local passport to visit nearby breweries. The interior is eclectic with bright, colorful paintings and other seemingly random decor lol. I kept to the tacos for this visit but there are some other options like quesadillas and bowls to try. I also didn't opt in for drinks since a brewery visit is next. We ordered the shrimp taco, and cauliflower and avocado taco as vegan options which just needed some minor adjustments to make vegan. There were also substitution options for vegan meat and the server was very knowledgeable about vegan options, so we appreciated that. They were all very tasty and we cleaned our plates quickly! The only reason for a 4 star would just be the amount of choices but I would really only take off a half star if I could since the restaurant name says it's all about tacos and maybe just having a few other options is a bonus. A nice shoutout to the team for giving encouragement to save paper by using the hand dryer in the restroom. Thank you for caring for the environment!

Shelby Z.

Yelp
Fun ambiance for a social event or drinks with friends. As far as the food goes, it's nothing special. Not bad by any means, but also not great. I think the most noticeable thing to me that indicated that these tacos would be sub-par was the flour tortillas. They tasted like cheap, mission tortillas from the grocery store. When we went, the food that came out was cold, but it may have just been an off day. The server was nice and attentive. I would still go back and maybe get a drink just because it is a fun setting, but the food was just not great at the end of the day.

Hugo M.

Yelp
Great! I love when restaurants get out of the box, and that's exactly what Willy Taco is doing. Keep the good work, oh and the great prices on Tequilas (that's the main reason I keep coming back) and the great bar service, I haven't been at a table but I will guess it's the same tho, the reason for the 4 stars will be cause Mondays are my favorite day to go out since im in the industry. Other than that a great place The owner of Burrito Hub!

AK S.

Yelp
Jerk Chicken Quesadilla was amazing along with the street corn. Service was slow about 45 mins. Ambiance was alright they had the windows open in 53° weather.

Kathryn H.

Yelp
Best sangrias and best overall taco selection to me. I can't attest for the Greenville location, but the Spartanburg has always been consistent for me and I've never had a bad meal here. I've been here a couple times and never had a wait time, maybe I just get lucky. The service is attentive and super helpful here! I got the queso with chorizo - super delicious. Chips are a great thickness, nicely seasoned. The quesadillas are great too. The sangria is amazing. When I was in Barcelona, I had many sangrias but the one that stood out to me was the one that had dizziness to it. WT adds some kind of carbonated beverage into their sangrias and I'm suddenly transported back to Spain. Absolutely love their sangrias. Get them. Tacos - plenty of variety here. I'm glad that this place doesn't stick to the basic ones like with beef and stuff you get at Taco Bell (unlike some other taco restaurants in Greenville). Southern Tide, Patagonia Steak, and the Mojo Pork (I think) are my favorites. This most recent time, I got a salmon taco and the salmon was cooked perfectly. It was tender and not overcooked at all. I would 100% get that one again. They also give you the option to get the tacos lettuce wrapped, which is usually well done and sturdy in the cup lettuce rather than the flimsy lettuce or the long romaine lettuce. One of my favorite go to restaurants in Spartanburg!

John T.

Yelp
Great service and food. Thanks to all the staff. Went with a big party and they were super quick and correct.

Roger W.

Yelp
Great tacos. Lots of variety and great quality. No frills kind of place, with large tables and stools. Always quick service.

Rebecca L.

Yelp
My family was visiting Spartanburg for graduation weekend. Our very first meal in Spartanburg on that very first visit was at Willy Taco so we decided it should definitely be a place we visit on our last visit to Spartanburg! Staff was friendly and we were seated quickly. We ordered the Tres Amigos for our table. Chips were perfectly seasoned and the guacamole, queso and salsa were delicious. Most of our group went with the "Loco Lunch Tacos" and I'm sure that between the six of us we probably tried all flavors of tacos! I had the "Patagonia Steak" and the "Motherclucker," both of which were awesome! Everyone else enjoyed their tacos as well. Overall, a wonderful experience and if we ever find ourselves in Spartanburg again, we will definitely stop by for a taco... or four!

PD V.

Yelp
Not impressed. My family was traveling through and my wife Googled restaurants. This one was supposed to have gotten some notoriety from Southern Living Magazine so we stopped loving Mexican food. It had some aesthetic value and staff was very nice. We almost had to tell our waitress to leave us alone. LOL. But the food was basic. It tasted like any other decent Mexican restaurant with the exception of the salsa for the table. I swear it was Old El Paso from Foodlion. I wasn't a bad stop but it certainly wasn't worth mentioning to anyone else. We won't get off the Highway again for it. At best it's a 3 star.

Rich D.

Yelp
I think they are going for the gourmet thing. Not my style. I had the taco salad with shrimp. The shrimp were good and the portions were good. I'm used to a taco salad coming in a deep fried flour shell. That's my favorite part. The salad came with some tortilla strips that wer good. My wife was disappointed in her taco. I think it was the motherclucker. My salad was way overpriced.

Debbie A.

Yelp
Food was ok. Just not for me. The free dessert was very sweet. Prices a bit high. Atmosphere was a little noisy
