Where To Go When You Want To Dance But Hate Clubs - Miami - The Infatuation
"Willy’s is a diamond in the smashburger inferno that Wynwood’s turned into. From Thursday to Sunday, the LBGTQ+ bar hosts parties with local DJs and artists like La Goony Chonga. Not only do they host watch parties for RuPaul’s Drag Race, they also have their own drag performances by local queens like Karla Croqueta. Whether you’re in a 2002 reggaeton mood or you want to graciously tip a lip-syncing diva, Willy’s has a night for you. Keep an eye on their Instagram to see which parties require a cover and which don’t." - mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer
"Willy’s in Wynwood is one of Miami’s only LGBTQ+ bars and hosts all kinds of incredibly fun events for the city's queer community. From Thursday to Sunday, the bar does themed parties that range from Madonna pajama dance parties to Taylor Swift nights. They also have watch parties for RuPaul’s Drag Race and basically something great is happening every night they're open. Whether you’re in a 2002 Britney Spears mood or just want to weep to Swift's most recent breakup song, Willy’s has a night for you. Keep an eye on their Instagram to see which parties require a cover and which don’t." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

At first this was a great bar. The first Happy Hour beer was charged correctly for $6. The second beer I ordered was charged $7 and it wad still during Happy Hour. The last beer I bought outside was over $11. Sorry, but as an out of town visitor, way over priced. I don't care if it is Miami or not. I have been to other major cities and paid way less. The vibe at first was great but as the crowd started to fill in, this "Neighborhood Bar" turned into the typical cliche that you hear about Miami. Too bad, I had high hopes.

A friend told me about this new bar in Wynwood and I wanted to like it since it is very close to home. I decided to go for happy hour. First mistake. Happy hour is advertised on the website as 6pm-10pm on Thursday night. Beer is listed as $5. I ordered a beer and paid cash before opening a tab to make sure everything was legit. Bartender charged $6 and I verified the happy hour lasted until 10pm and he said no it ends at 9pm now but they haven't gotten around to changing the website yet. I tipped him $3 anyway since I am a good tipper so my $5 beer really ended up costing me $9 which is a regular price for Wynwood so no biggie. The biggest problem was the music. When I walked in Junto al Almanecer by J Alvarez was playing (thanks to Shazam lol I had no idea what he was saying it was in Spanish and even with a basic understanding of Spanish I couldn't understand any of it) and an old Britney Spears video was playing on the screen. I didn't understand the vibe. On a Thursday night it was pretty empty to be expected and the 4 other people that were there when I arrived all left at 9pm when the happy hour ended. At 9pm they opened the back patio and a live hip hop DJ started playing. I finished my beer and left. Not sure I will go back.

Overall the crowd and club were decent but some tall women claiming to be Brazilian charged me tax on a cover charge. She also asked for gratuities in addition to the tax on cover charge. The bar charges an automatic gratuity on your bill without informing you so please pay attention to your bill. This place isn't worth the money and the extra fees that the establishment charges their customers. The employees that run the door and bar are unethical and take advantage of their customers.

Great little gay club with good vibes on weekend nights. My two biggest complaints are:
1. drink prices vary WIDELY depending on the bartender at any given time. I never know what to expect when I get my receipt, sometimes I’m pleasantly surprised and other times I’m like “WTF?”
2. Water. If you’re having an outdoor drag show in 85 degree Miami heat, you GOTTA give people cups of water when they ask. I’ve literally had to beg bartenders to pleaaase break “policy” to just fill me a little cup of water. Don’t tell me you can’t do it when you’re literally standing in front of a sink. They’d rather sell me an $8 bottle of water to steal an additional 18% gratuity.

My wife and I had a great time at Willy's. We enjoyed the up beat atmosphere and music. They had a live drummer and DJ. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Our bartender, Joao did a stellar job of keeping our group happy and provided an assortment of unique and skillfully crafted drinks.
