The Windjammer - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"“What are you doing this weekend?” your friend might say. “Oh, not much, just going to a Guy Fieri themed drag-burlesque party at The Windjammer in Ridgewood.” This conversation could happen to you (and we hope it does). Expect dozens of people dressed up as Monsieur Fieri, as well as a set by the performer, Gal Fieri. The show starts at 9pm on Friday, October 15th, and there’s a suggested $10 donation supporting the exoneration of wrongly-convicted individuals through the The Innocence Project. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Good neighborhood dive with locals and a relaxed atmosphere. They do karaoke and house shows in the back regularly, and some grilling outside.

Bizarre vibes at this bar. my friend and i walked in and all the customers and bartender turned their head at the same time and stared at us for a while. Like yes we aren't regulars and my friend is asian (every single person in this bar is white), but you dont have to be so weird about; it extreme "Get Out", the movie, vibes from this bar. no comments on the bartender that other people seem to be complaining about. I've walked by this bar for like 15 years, thought i'd try it and felt very uncomfortable here.

Wonderful neighborhood spot to pick up a copy of GUNK (NYC's Indie Music Show Paper).

I'm just a chill guy but if you sit here at the bar there's a tattooed bartender that really not pleasant. It's like he doesn't want to make he's money. He made us feel unwanted, I'm guessing because he was busy talking to his friends. Other than that it's a really cool place. The bartender should go home and reconsider his life because it's not a guests problem that he's having a bad day or whatever. Peace

Cozy, out of the way place. Great atmosphere, friendly bartenders, reasonably priced drinks. Fun photo booth and pinball. Across the street from the bakery so you can grab a snack. Only downside is it’s a hike from the subway.

I love the Windjammer Bar! And to think that's only 2 blocks away from me and never tried it before. Cool people, nice bartender, good price drinks! I am glad I finally dared to go in.

This could have easily been a 5 star review the resort just need minor adjustments. I’ll get to how my food sat in the lobby for three hrs later on in this review . The resort is beautiful but very pricey. First off a drink is 18$ a rotti that I pay $9 dollars for is $38 here even if you get all inclusive it’s still a extra charge on food and beverages , for instance steak and eggs is a extra $25. I wanted to taste st Lucian food and this isn’t it. It’s not bad but don’t expect to taste the food of their culture . The rooms are very spacious you also have a very huge patio but you have to take a shuttle to your room or else your have to walk up hills and not to mention when you get to your room you still have to walk up numerous stairs. I came to this resort for my honeymoon and because of this we’re planning another honeymoon somewhere else .They did have a bottle of champagne in the fridge and the fridge smelled like seasoning therefore we didn’t eat the tiny chocolates they left uncovered. We don’t touch the champagne either.Lastly I ordered from a local restaurant and they claim they called the room and I was sleep at 7 instead of coming to check to seek if I’m ok they waited till 10pm to call the room back therefore my food sat in the lobby for 3 hrs ridiculous.

Great spot, extremely chill, very cheap, fun games and great pool. Bartender was chatty and friendly. Will be back!

Yelp
What a cool chill bar. Came here last week on a Monday night in search of an open mic night, and wasn't disappointed! The crowd here is pretty friendly, laidback and chill. You can tell that there is a heavy emphasis here on being judgement-free, which I always appreciate. The open mic took place in the backroom and was ran by Tim Shea (our facilitator and MC) and Victor (amazing on the sound mixing!). If you do something super weird on stage and out of left field, Tim will personally give you $5 of his own money, how cool is that?! They give you 6 minutes to knock your socks off so I did 2 poems and a sang/played a song on guitar. After everyone's performances, I grabbed a brew with a few of the fellow performers and played a round of pool before taking off. Good times!! This was my first ever solo open mic and I must say, it wasn't nearly as nerve wracking as I thought it would be. That definitely has a lot to do with the comfortable environment they have created here. So kudos to the entire staff at Windjammer, y'all rock.. literally!

Yelp
Service was horrendous, bartender treated us like outsiders cuz of our drink choice. Apparently it's frowned upon to order a cosmo or martini here

Yelp
Cool dive bar vibe. Love the movies playing behind the bar. Friendly bar staff. Good beer seletion. Great place to play a show (October - May) Sound is good and the sound person and booker do a good job. Good place to see a show, if you're 6 foot 3 (October - May). The stage is 1 foot off the ground, making for an intimate vibe, and a performance visible by the 20 people in the first 2 rows. This venue would get 5 stars when it gets an industrial- sized AC unit for the live band room, making for a more comfortable experience for band and audience alike. If you want oxygen in the summer, join the 40 people chatting outside.

Yelp
This is an awesome hidden gem in Ridgewood. Super chill dive bar but the drinks are great (highly recommend the Blue Drink if you love blue raspberry icees as much as I do). Also awesome that they have a stage in the back and some really great bands. I would definitely recommend this place to someone visiting from out of town looking for a "non-touristy New York experience".

Yelp
What a weird place! I came here to see a friend's band, and did not know what was going on when we got there. The front is dive bar through and through. It seems from some other reviews that they have new ownership and kept a lot of the old decor, which makes sense. There's no taps, but a decent selection of bottles and cans, all competitively priced. The music being played, however, was SO LOUD. Holy crap, it was so loud. I felt like when I was in the back room listening to the live music, that the volume back there was better somehow. It was impossible to hear my friends, let alone myself think. The back room is where they host live music. It's pretty shabby, but kind of adds to the charm. They sell coozies that pretty much sum up the Windjammer, and I'm disappointed that I forgot to buy one before heading home: "We only LOOK like we're cash-only."

Yelp
The Windjammer has reopened under new ownership. They kept some of the same furnishings and decor (hello Marilyn Monroe in the men's room, again) but certainly gave it a facelift with new paint and added several booths. There is still a pool table, but the jukebox is gone. Two TVs still there, although they weren't on the other night, so will see if this is a place one can watch the Mets game or not. They had lawn chairs on the front porch for outdoor sidewalk seating. It was relatively low-key on a Saturday night so perhaps things won't change that much? Although there was a bouncer for the first time, and definitely none of the old regulars in the crowd...

Yelp
Loving the vibe of this place. I came here to watch a friend's show and it's pretty neat that they have a separate room for events. They have a nice selection or drinks but it's on the pricey side. Men's restroom is super small and it'd be nice to have some privacy as there aren't any locks.

Yelp
I love the regulars and Vito (Friday night bartender) is GREAT!!! I wish they had food on site, but it's a fun neighborhood bar. I travel all the way from Long Island City to spend time and have fun with friends. There is a big room in the back that you can rent and have events there.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood bar. The back is especially nice for live music. Love a good game of pool here. Bartenders could be a bit friendlier but I guess that ain't their job.

Yelp
Great new addition to the neighborhood. This is a neighborhood bar through and through. There is a good mix of young and old in this place at all hours of the day. There is a pool table and a buck hunter and golden tee that keep my entertained as well as fun people to talk to and drink with. Go check it out tonight!

Yelp
If you want a good time from women who hang out there and don't even care that you are married than that's the place to go. Apparently the women there will do what ever it takes to break up a marriage. Especially a girl name Donna, She new that my friends husband was married and still pursued him. The first time she met him she had no problem throwing herself all over him him even after being told that he was happily married with children, and although it does take two to tango she still pursued a married man. They are both to blame for this but she also should have walked away!! but than again from what I know from women that stay at that bar they like married men and would do anything that walk including Donna!!!!!! So if you want a fun time just ask for her. mainly there on Friday nights..
