CAVEAT EMPTOR! BUYER BEWARE! DEFECTIVE FLEETWOOD PRODUCT!!!
We paid Window N Things approximately $150,000 for windows and doors. (About $45,000 for installation, on top.) We waited over 6 months for delivery.
One of the doors, an outward swinging single door, is defectively designed. There is only about ½” gap between the door handle and the jamb. Fingers will, and do, get caught in that narrow space and crushed. Mine were several times, once resulting in significant lacerations. Fleetwood was advised of the issue by Windows ‘N Things.
Graciously, two Windows N Things employees showed up with a Fleetwood rep. They (Fleetwood) later advised that they have spoken with their engineering and they can do nothing. Windows N Things sent replacement door handles but they made no difference. Fingers still get crushed. Windows N Things advised we should use the door with “extreme” care.
So where are we? Months have gone by since Windows N Things were advised of the issue. No resolution has been provided. Several weeks ago I advised them that I can see 3 options: They either repair or replace the defective door, or refund the cost to us. I wanted a response by Friday of that week. All I got was a call from a principal of Windows N Things requesting another week. That has come and gone and we have heard from no one.
So, if you are still thinking of dealing with this firm be advised that they will be polite, say all the right things, but, based on our experience, drop the ball or simply choose to forget about you if there’s an issue.
I will be seeking recourse.
