"The Order: All Kale Caesar! Salad Windy City Pie’s kale caesar is like a magic trick. It tastes thoroughly caesary, but the dressing has the consistency of a vinaigrette. Despite this place being a church of deep-dish pizza, the salad is so tangy and delicious that it (almost) distracts us from lacy-crusted pies." - aimee rizzo
"Your Order: All Kale Caesar! Salad Windy City Pie’s kale caesar is like a magic trick. It tastes thoroughly caesary, but the dressing is more like a vinaigrette. Despite this place being a church of deep-dish pizza, the salad is so tangy and delicious that it (almost) distracts us from the crispy pies. This plate of leaves cuts through the richness of the cheese, buttery crust, and candied bacon." - aimee rizzo, gabe guarente
"As far as deep dish pizza’s concerned, there’s no need to spend your money anywhere but Windy City Pie—if only for the candied bacon alone. These Chicago-style pies have a crispy caramelized cheese crust, delicious toppings, and pickled giardiniera to cut through all the mozzarella and cured meats. You don’t have to worry about slices that get floppy in transit, and the pizza makes great leftovers the next day, too. If anyone you live with is a Bears fan, this is a good way to settle your differences and compromise." - aimee rizzo
"Nobody likes waiting, especially for pizza. But at Windy City Pie, a Chicago deep dish-style spot in Phinney Ridge, the long wait is part of the deal. In exchange for some money and 40 minutes of your time, you get a thick pie with caramelized edges, flavorful red sauce, and mozzarella cheese that flows like volcanic lava. We all know that bacon is great on pizza, but the candied bacon crumbles at Windy City Pie is the kind of topping you’d want on your popcorn at the movies. Skip cake on your birthday and come here instead." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley
"Hailed as Seattle's best new Italian spot by many critics, this Chicago-style pizzeria takes orders online (advisable). Dig into a deep-dish delight, graced by bright, tangy tomato sauce and a lighter, brioche-style crust fringed with caramelized cheese. While not gut bombs, these pizzas are quite filling: one pie can feed four hungry adults easily. Build your own or opt for creations like the Popeye (blue cheese, spinach, mushrooms, and Kalamata olives). Note: once a darling of Interbay, Windy City is moving to the Phinney Ridge neighborhood in 2019. Need some ooey-gooey goodness while the restaurant’s settling into the new digs and only offering takeaway? Try its sibling Breezy Town Pizza in Beacon Hill, which mixes in some Detroit flair (breezytownpizza.com)!"
