16 Best Bars in Venice

"Situated on a quiet canal beyond the reach of the tourist crowds in central Venice, this little wine bar would be right at home in the Tuscan Countryside: exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors, soft lighting, and just a few outdoor tables make this an ideal spot for a glass of wine between sightseeing stops. The menu, with more than 100 bottles, is an ode to organic, biodynamic, and vegan Italian wines. Chilled whites and temperature-controlled local reds are well-stocked here, making it one of Venice’s better spots for a stationary wine-tasting journey." - Jenna Scatena

Wine Bar 5000 – Bar Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Give us your first impression. Situated on a quiet canal beyond the reach of the tourist crowds in central Venice, this little wine bar would be right at home in the Tuscan Countryside: exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors, soft lighting, and just a few outdoor tables make this an ideal spot for a glass of wine between sightseeing stops. So who’s there? You will often find locals crowding around the outdoor tables, sharing a bottle of wine as the sun goes down, or a group of travelers who have finally discovered their favorite spot in Venice. How are the drinks? The menu, with more than 100 bottles, is an ode to organic, biodynamic, and vegan Italian wines. Chilled whites and temperature-controlled local reds are well-stocked here, making it one of Venice’s better spots for a stationary wine-tasting journey. What's on offer for food? This small wine bar provides a limited but curated selection cold cuts, Italian cheeses, and, of course, cicchetti—all designed to pair well with the wine list. What about the staff? The hosts at this bar make patrons feel right at home. It feels less like being a visitor, and more like being welcomed into an Italian family’s home. Come with plenty of time to chat up whoever is working behind the bar. Who should we bring with us? The size and scope of this wine bar makes it perfect if you're traveling with a small group of friends or a small family." - Jenna Scatena

Cozy café with a mix of modern and vintage style. Friendly staff and affordable drinks. Great vibes!

Google
This place was solid. We randomly found this spot and glad we did. While the food was just ok the wine selection was amazing. I can see why folks like this place especially during warmer times. We traveled during the winter so seating was only inside. The staff was awesome.

Nice setting but the service was so terrible. We were in the middle of asking the waiter for a wine recommendation when he suddenly began helping another table. We had to call him back after waiting 10 minutes to order, we ordered and we were left 30+ minutes waiting for a beer and a wine only to be told there was no beer left (fine we ordered two wines) we were then left another 10 minutes waiting for 2 glasses of wine? The waiter didn’t even acknowledge the delay. Honestly would not recommend given the extremely poor service.

We ate here for lunch today and enjoyed it so much! After coming from touring Doge’s Palace, we were looking for a quiet, scenic spot to eat and get away from crowds - and this was perfect! Just saw it on Google maps and it had good reviews, so we sat down to give it a try. The cicchetti platter was delicious, as were the meatballs. We got glasses of wine after asking the waiter for recommendations, he was very helpful. He also brought extra non-fish cicchetti to our table after hearing that my friend wasn’t a huge fan of seafood (unlike me)- very sweet of him and it was also on the house which was extra generous. We watched a painter by the canal making lovely art and enjoyed our peaceful lunch tucked away in the canals. We were the first people at the restaurant for the day (arrived just after 12pm), but so many people sat down in the time we were there or took cicchetti to go, seemed like many locals. Can’t recommend enough!

Staff really friendly and attentive. Lovely spot for a wine away from the hustle and bustle.

We were looking for a quiet spot to escape the crowds of Venice & found it at Wine Bar 5000! I absolutely loved sitting right next to one of the canals, watching the gondolas pass by, listening to the gondoliers’s music and enjoy a cold Spritz on a hot summer day. We were pleasantly surprised by the good service and reasonable prices. Highly recommend!

We arrived at the venue and no one seated us. Then they seemed surprised that we were sitting down. At first, they didn’t know whether we were allowed to stay, but eventually let us sit. That’s fine, although it felt a bit chaotic. We ordered prosecco and wine, but they seemed confused that we weren’t ordering food. They didn’t know if that was acceptable but eventually acted like it was. Again, if the place has certain rules, that’s okay—but guests should be informed. The name of the establishment doesn’t suggest that ordering food is required. Then they brought us water, but the rest of our order never arrived. The staff openly ignored us. The table next to us also had issues with their order. The only positive thing was that, after we complained, they gave us the water for free. But I’ve never experienced sitting in a wine bar and only being served water.

Lies about the listed hours!! Google says, and confirmed by the business that it's open until midnight, we get here just after 10 pm for a couple glasses of wine before bed and the rude waiter told us last call at 1030 no more orders, they are closing. Wine is delicious, location is wonderful. Hours is a lie and the waiter was rude. Take it with a grain of salt, we just wanted to enjoy the evening but alas.... Cheers!!

Yelp
Very cute seating outside by the canal. Not a lot of choice in wine by the glass and a sprite costs 9eur. Not the cheapest place but great place to enjoy chill summer days in Venice. Service are not great tho but you're here for the view.

Yelp
Found this gem on yelp, looking for a place a little farther from the crowds. Fantastic food, and an even better location! Outdoor tables, canal side with the occasional gondola drifting past. Quiet and beautiful spot. Probably best to call ahead to get a reserved table.

Yelp
We came to Winebar 5000 every day we were in Venice for pre-dinner drinks and conversations. Small spot that is quiet and caters to locals. It's right off the canal on a gondola route so you get to see hundreds float by and experience the singing gondola drivers. Affordable win and delicious cicchetti.

Yelp
This is a great off the beaten path small wine bar. The seating inside is small, but if you get a table outside you can sit right on the water. You will see gonadalas pass by. There isn't a lot of foot traffic over here so you don't need to worry about the big tourist crowd. You also get chips as you drink. The bar has a large selection of wines for a good price as well.

Yelp
After hearing good things about this neighborhood spot we tried it--for wine and cichetti. Very disappointing. Bread was stale, toppings oversalted, and nothing Venetian at all. Service meager. We had to ask for napkins,

Yelp
I don't want to be too negative, so yeah: three stars. The food is good, although the cicchetti aren't Venetian in any identifiable way. Service was really very poor: after our assortment of cicchetti we ordered an assortment of salumi which never arrived. When I asked for the bill, I was told it would be coming, then at least ten minutes passed while the waiter worked on someone else's order. Finally we were allowed to pay after the second request. This experience struck me as the product of a group of people who were pretty excited about the theoretical basis of their enterprise but who were fundamentally failing to execute the basic demands of the operation. I really don't like to give negative reviews, but in this case I need to do so. Perhaps they'll improve in the future, but I won't be coming back.

Yelp
Perfect place for a quick afternoon wine and refreshments. Good price, friendly service

Yelp
Nice little spot. Clearly a favorite of the locals. Good wine selection. Also food available as they partner with the restaurant next door, but we only had wine and a great cheese tray.

Yelp
Must visit spot in Venice. Great food from their sister restaurant next door and fantastic and reasonable wines by the glass or bottle.

Yelp
This little wine bar was one of the best things about our trip to Venice. The brushcetta and prosecco were amazing, and we had a great view watching all the gondolas go by. The place only seats about 10 people, which gives it a nice cozy feel. We had such an enjoyable experience that my husband and I tried to go back again the next day, but they were unfortunately closed. We will make sure to come here again on our next trip to Venice.
