"After closing its Austin tasting room in 2023, Wine for the People is open in Fredericksburg in partnership with William Chris Wine Company. Winemaker Rae Wilson, who is one of a handful of women who holds the position in Texas, will lead an International Women’s Day roundtable at the location on March 8, featuring a conversation with other local women winemakers, bites, and a glass of the brand’s 2022 Dandy Rosé. Dandy Rosé will see its Austin release at the Frances Modern Inn in a party on March 10 — tickets are available online for both." - Courtney E. Smith

Updating review as they've moved! We recently tried out the new La Valentia Residency Experience (housed in the beautiful wine barrel room at William Chris Winery, a WFP partner). We sat with the owner while she explained all the wines and we even got to take wine straight from the barrel! We love these wines! William Chris Winery had great Indoor and shaded outdoor seating provides options in that TX weather.

We strolled into this place on a lazy afternoon and were immediately welcomed and offered a table for wine tasting. The lady who oversaw our tasting was incredibly knowledgeable and fun! Hubby & I are by no means wine experts, but we thoroughly enjoyed this leisurely and thorough tasting experience. And of course, we took home our favorite bottle as well!

Such an amazing experience!!! The tasting room is gorgeous & Marissa was so kind & knowledgeable. The winemaker stopped by to say hello as well, great meeting her! The Dandy sparkling was our favorite of the day but all wines were delicious.

Excellent wine! We tried several whites, reds and rose and truly loved them all. Rae and Ann were excellent hosts. Very approachable. Bread and charcuterie boards were delish and had a great variety. Such a fun afternoon in TX wine country. Definitely check out Wine For the People.

Our favorite new spot in Fredericksburg!! All of their wines were amazing— like so amazing we all joined their wine club. The board was delicious and we loved the outside patio— lots of seating and shade. Most of all, the service was so phenomenal. Rae and Anne were SO kind, thorough, helpful, and wonderful to meet. We spent a few hours here and would gladly spend more. This is the new hot spot!! We can’t wait to come back.

Google
Small gem of a winery; we visited a second time to confirm our opinion; all the wines tasted were from very good to excellent. Rae, Winemaker, is delightful and obviously talented. Anne, Brand Ambassador is engaging and made us feel very much at home. Tasting ambiance is relaxed and approachable. Great place to relax with a glass of really nice wine.

Fresh out the gate! This place is amazing! Beautiful space, inviting team, delicious wines, relaxing atmosphere. This spot just opened up in the spot where Lost Draw used to be in FBG (FYI Lost Draw is now in it's new home in Johnson City). Wine for the People owner, Rae Wilson is a treasure to the TX wine community. Rae made her first TX wine label in 2014 and has grown it into this fabulous tasting room, with the William Chris / Lost Draw family. This is your chance to be the avant garde, the trendsetter of your wine group, be the first to recommend your friends try this place out!

The grounds are beautiful, the wine is fantastic! The wine maker came to our table to introduce herself and converse for a bit! Wonderful experience, knowledgeable staff, and we signed up for their wine club/membership! Look forward to visiting again.

Yelp
My friend and I came in on a Saturday for a standard wine tasting, and the place was buzzing with energy! Highly recommend making a reservation (we had one, thankfully), as it's a popular spot, and walk-ins may face a wait. We did a wine tasting flight and added a charcuterie board and rosemary bread to round out the experience. The wine? Fantastic. Each pour showcased the care and artistry that goes into Rae's winemaking. The Dandy Rosé was bright and refreshing, and the Trousseau was a beautifully light red. The charcuterie board? Easily one of the best I've had while wine tasting in the Hill Country. Every bite was thoughtfully curated and paired perfectly with the wines and we devoured nearly everything on it. The absolute highlight of the visit, though, was meeting Rae Wilson, the winery's master wine maker, herself! She was making the rounds in the tasting room, chatting with guests, and stopped by our table. Getting to hear directly from the winemaker about her process and passion added such a personal touch to the experience--it's not every day you get that kind of access. Wine for the People delivers on all fronts: incredible wine, a welcoming atmosphere, and a memorable experience. If you're exploring Hill Country, make sure this spot is on your list!

Yelp
I just love this wines, the people and the new spot in FB! I've been a fan of Wine for the People for many years now and their wines never disappoint! the Rose is scrumptious and can drink it every day! Do yourself a favor and try the wine! All of them! The owners know what they are doing here! Friendly and hospitable! You can find their wines in many places and restaurants in Austin. Big love to this amazing winery!

Yelp
Sipping delicious local wines in a clean, minimalist space. It's our vibe. There's lots of parking but we honestly just took the 8 minute walk from the main strip down to stretch our legs. Indoor and shaded outdoor seating provides options in that TX weather. We loved the great service with a chill, non pretentious vibe (shout out Karen!!) Love that there are some bites, too (char boards etc). We tried the Sauv Blanc & the Cinsault and they were amazing. This will be our new haunt in the Fredericksburg scene.

Yelp
This place is amazing! From the delicious wines, atmosphere, service, to the people who have a passion and love for making wine with intention, you MUST stop here. Actually, plan a trip. It's worth it!

Yelp
Charming, tucked away wine restaurant. We're in love with this place. Start with an order of fresh sourdough bread and cured butter. You'll ask for more sourdough so you can finish every morsel of this beautiful butter. Opt for their seasonal wine flights. Order a charcuterie plate for your table. Your group will be served the next glass in the flight at the same time, and you can substitute any glass for a different variety if you're not feeling one. Share their charred Basque cheesecake and/or olive oil cake with your table, and rejoice! Come back with a different pair of friends next time, you'll be glad you did.

Yelp
We had a wonderful afternoon here with a walk in party of 6. We received a personal recommendation for this place from another vineyard OWNER. Owners supporting other owners spoke volumes to us. Wine for the People is new to this location in 2024. What a hidden gem! It is comfortable and laid back. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It felt like we were visiting friends in their backyard paradise. We loved ALL the wines we tasted. It was definitely our best charcuterie board of the entire trip. We met & spoke with Anne & Rae, the owners. On the back of every wine bottle, you'll find a quote from a courageous woman. We joined the club, bought the merchandise and had a memorable afternoon. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
What an adorable spot for a wine evening with friends! The patio was perfect on a cool, shady night. Service was really friendly and helpful at selecting a glass of wine everyone enjoyed. I wish the food options had clearly marked vegan options, but the hummus/crackers and olives were tasty. Will be back soon!

Yelp
wine for the People is a quaint wine bar that's unassuming and easy to enjoy. The staff is great. The wine is also quite good. You will feel right at home in this winery. No huge crowds or brides to be. Just good people and wine for the people. Definitely a must visit while in Fredericksburg. Not to mention the Marcona Almonds.

Yelp
We joined friends here for a wine tasting consisting of 5 different wines. We loved all the different wines that we tried. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable of each wine we sampled. It was a special treat to meet Rae the winemaker and to learn her journey. The food snacks we tried were a charcuterie board, chips and dip, hummus and crackers; all prepared by Spread and Company. The snacks were perfect for the wine tasting ! Great location and lovely patio. We will definitely return!

Yelp
I went here with a good friend and we got a cheese board (I don't eat pork) and they'll sub the meat out for more cheese and it was a beautiful board!! I had a whole photoshoot with it. The cheese choices were truly amazing as well. My friend picked the wine but we did taste a few before settling and it was delicious.

Yelp
I joined a group of my daughter's friends here for appetizers and wine. I tried the reserve flight which was delightful. We ordered a couple of charcuterie platters and other items - they accommodated allergies and gluten-free issues. What impressed me most is that the entire staff was helpful, informative and created an environment where you can learn more about the wines and the business. Several of the group were members and they are very flexible with the level of commitment to accommodate your budget. Definitely a new go-to place when I'm in town.

Yelp
This is the best wine I've had in Texas. I did the wine tasting and as a lover of deep reds, it was the best. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the food to accompany is perfect. Best unknown gem in town.

Nikkita F.

Yelp
Love this new local winery! The winemaker is so sweet and approachable. We immediately joined the wine club and have been going back for months. Just a quick 30 min drive outside of the city. The ones are very good, my favorite is the Chenin Blanc, which is so unique tasting from others you've tasted. The patio is perfect for sipping a flight on a slow afternoon. There's easy parking, a food truck on the premise, plus you can make a reservation. Trust me and make the drive to check out this spot, you won't regret it!

Yelp
Went to Wine For The People for the first time last night. It won't be the last. Excellent wines, tasty bites, paired with warm and welcoming employees. Look forward to returning soon. Cheers!

Yelp
Great day trip for wine tasting. Gracious host/owner walks you through options. Charming setting just outside Austin --picnic tables and food truck with amazing baguettes. Not high end, but lovely for afternoon tasting.

Yelp
I received a trial membership to Wine for the People. What an awesome gift, experience over stuff is the best. I went to my first wine release at the Lemon Lounge Sunday, a space with great atmosphere, people, and a fabulously curated collection of wine and healthy nibbles (tapas). Rae and Sisi are two personable, passionate and knowledgeable wine ambassadors. They have a knack for hosting a fun, welcoming, unpretentious and relaxing gathering. The Cascina Belamonte Costellazioni Valtenesi Doc 2016 Rose was the best Rose I have ever had. I also liked the Chateau d' Oupia Minervois Red Tablewine 2015. I can't wait to see what the future harvest has in store with this dynamic company.

Yelp
Attended the Chef's dinner at Snack Bar. Rae Wilson performed the role of sommelier. Rae selected each wine and gave a great introduction for each course. The joy she has for everything wine is contagious. The wine/food combinations where excellent. She really made the event something special. Extremely knowledgeable and charming.

Liz b.

Yelp
Rae came to our house and presented us with a wine tasting. It was amazing. We had so much fun and learned so much from her. Rae is knowledgeable, personable, and just cool to have around. We gave her a tough genre for our party- we wanted low sulfite wines. She delivered bubbly, white, red and rose and they were all delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend Wine for the People for anything wine related.
