We hosted our engagement party at Wine Shoe and had an amazing time!! Krishna was super attentive and helpful and made the event go smoothly. Krishna’s wine choices for our party based on my preferences were spot on. It was an intimate space perfect for a 30 people party. We will definitely be coming back to hang out at a tasting. Also their dog, Cinna, was the life of the party!

We want to learn more about wine so we went for the around the world food and wine tasting. It was very informative and fun! The food and wine pairings were delicious. Krishna explained the wines well. She told the group she wanted it to be an engaging experience and she got us talking together and asking questions. Definitely an enjoyable experience!

I stopped by Wine Shoe during Clark Atlanta Homecoming weekend. We were greeted by the lovely Anja. We told her that we wanted a wine that complimented the occasion. She not only assisted us with our request but she also gave us outstanding customer service. I highly recommend everyone in Atlanta to check them out and buy not 1, not 2, but as many as you can load in the car. 🍷🙌🏾😃

It's easy to miss, but well worth the visit. It's a very quaint location but fun. Perfect for a date night, small team outing or a girls day out. The tasting was fun and very economical at only $10. It's not far from the stadium... so hitting this is prior to a game is very possible. The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful. They even discussed possible food pairings with the wine. I'm glad I stopped by and look forward to coming back for another visit. If you find this review helpful, please "like" below.

Wine Shoe is a boutique gem nestled in the heart of the city, owned by the ever-passionate Krishna. This delightful shop boasts an impressive variety of wines sourced from grapes all around the world, ensuring there's always something new and exciting to discover. Their wine tastings are nothing short of an immersive experience. Not only have they expanded my palate, but they've also taught me so much about wine and food pairings. Each tasting is thoughtfully curated, making every visit a unique and educational journey. Joining their wine club has been one of the best decisions I've made. It's filled with fellow wine lovers who are just as enthusiastic about learning and exploring as I am. The sense of community and the additional learning opportunities it provides are truly invaluable. Whether you're a seasoned wine connoisseur or just starting on your wine journey, Wine Shoe is the perfect place to explore, learn, and enjoy. Highly recommended!

My friends and I did a private wine tasting at Wine Shoe yesterday, 3/20/21, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I learned so much during that one hour and a half session about wine...I feel like I can at least have an semi-intelligent conversation about wine! 😂. The owner and her husband are very knowledgeable and personable. Great experience and would definitely visit again!

I took my mother and her friends here on wine tasting experience for her birthday! The experience was enjoyable & knowledgeable! Location was great, walking distance from centennial Olympic park! 10/10 recommend. Krishna was amazing! The charcuterie boards were everything.

Google
I recently attended the sparkling wine tasting, and I must express my disappointment with the overall experience. While I understand this was a tasting, I noticed significant inconsistencies in the amount of wine poured for my group compared to others. One guest, who was attending alone, received notably special treatment, including an extra pour at the end. Another group, celebrating a birthday, was generously served, which I had no issue with. However, my concern arose when I was given a much smaller pour, and when I politely requested more, I was met with rude and dismissive responses. I found it unprofessional and frustrating to be treated this way, especially when I observed others receiving much larger pours. This was my second visit to the tasting, and I had brought four guests with me. As a minority woman supporting a minority-owned business, I found the experience particularly disheartening. To be treated poorly in this manner was unexpected and deeply disappointing. After much consideration, I disputed the charge with my bank and received a refund. However, given the experience, I do not believe the event was worth the $14.99 charged. Additionally, I found the social/casual class setting to be less enjoyable compared to the more structured sit-down format I had experienced previously. The session felt rushed, and I didn’t feel I was able to learn as much as I had hoped. It would be helpful if this aspect of the tasting could be clearly communicated on your website, so potential guests are aware of the format they are signing up for. Ultimately, I felt there was unfair treatment compared to other guests, and despite raising my concerns. This experience did not meet my expectations, and I hope you can take this feedback into account for future events.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate my cousin's birthday. I have been to the area multiple times and never knew Wine Shoe was there. Im glad I had the chance to stop by and check them out! They had everything set up and ready for us upon arrival. We each received a wine flight of 4 wines and a personal charcuterie board. It was a very nice experience.

Yelp
What a Sensational Saturday!!! First time at Wine Shoe, and it was a pleasant experience. Krishna, the owner was so sweet and nice. This wine tasting was $5 for 4 Rose' selections. That's a deal , yeah? I purchased my ticket online and immediately called My yelp sister to join me. You could also Walk in and join in the tasting. After tasting the 4 selections I got a pour of my favorite.. from a woman winemaker.. it was delicious. The bottle was $32.99. There is on street parking.. but no luck there. There is a parking garage around the corner... there is some way to gain access to get to the shop.. but I went the way I came. Park on the first level 2 hours Free. I truly enjoyed myself it was a pleasant experience.

Yelp
Today was what I called "Tasting wine with your sister day ". My sister Cassandra H/ fellow Yelper. Sent me a link to check out a wine tasting at Wine Shoe. And yes immediately bought my ticket. The host/owner of Wine Shoe offered a small cheese board to along with your tasting. For an additional small fee of course. Wine Shoe is a small beautiful quaint cellar. A perfect date night spot to try some new wines or even have a small wine gathering with some friends. Today we tried 4 Rosé wines. Out of the 4 ideally enjoyed just 1but like another. They other 2 was too dry for my liking. But I did leave with 1 bottle that the owner introduced to me. I'm sorry I keep saying owner but for the life of me I can't remember her name or her husband's name. But what I can remember is that I had a nice time and I highly recommend visiting the Wine Shoe to get a good bottle of wine.

Yelp
Great place to buy, taste, and consume wine. We are at the Riesling tasting. We sampled 4 Rieslings and the Blue Nun was the best for me. Cute spot! Very nice informative ladies giving the presentation. Nice vibe! I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
My husband and I found this wine location while visiting a Yelp event. We walked in and were transformed into a cozy welcoming space with a wall lined with wines! Like most wine stores, the region and description of the wine is nearby. What makes Wine Shop stand out? The Wine Shop doesn't just sell wines they sell an experience. We joined their wine club. We attended our first event. They pick six wines from different geographical areas and have a wine tasting social once a month. You sample the wines and depending on your membership, pick (three or six) wine bottles after experiencing them. It's included in your membership fee. We enjoyed tasting the wine and actually picking wines we know we will enjoy. We have poured out too many bottles of wines we highly disliked. We look forward to doing this with friends when they come. The owners are so personable and are truly vested in learning which wines you enjoy.

Yelp
It was our first time holding an event like this, which as an event planner, had me a bit nervous. However, the experience was excellent! The owner, Krishna (I hope I didn't spell that wrong), was great with communicating with me to get the event planned. When we entered, the place was so cute. It really captured a Tuscany ambiance. The ladies working with us were fantastic. Anja was a sweetheart and was leading the team that night. They knew exactly what they were talking about and enjoyed speaking to our attendees individually about the different wines. It was a social tasting, so it allowed everyone to go at their own pace and offer opportunities to network with one-another. We also ordered the charcutier board which came out looking absolutely exquisite. Throughout the night, the attendees were thrilled with the experience, providing nods of approval and even begging me to bring an event back to this location. Which, we most certainly will! I never really write reviews for businesses I've worked with but, with this being a woman owned business, I felt it necessary to leave my review. PLUS working with these ladies had been one of the greatest teams I had the pleasure of working with.

Yelp
This quaint, charming, rustic, and cellar inspired wine room is located in the historic arts district AKA Castleberry Hill. As soon as you walk through the doors you will fall in love with the space and once you speak to the owners you will feel their passion for this wonderful beverage called wine. Although you're in the city you have plenty of options for free parking in front of the wine room and there's also a parking garage for the building. This is a boutique wine shop so they carry a global selection with bottles starting at $15 and going up; they carry old world and new world wines. If you're just learning about wine or interested in more education on the subject check out one of their classes. You can also reserve the space for private events. Go to their website for a list of monthly classes. * You can stop in on Thursday for a free tasting of one of their favorite wines on and get 10% off of all purchases and 20% off of any pre ordered case. They also offer a pretty amazing wine club: 3 bottles a month at $49.99 or 6 bottles at $85.99. The reason why it's amazing is because you actually get to taste your wines if you choose before picking your selection. If you're looking for a reliable place to purchase your wine, attend classes, and experience excellent service then go to Wine Shoe now.

Yelp
We enjoyed a wine tasting at Wine Shoe during a weekend stroll around downtown Atlanta. We sat in a relaxing courtyard and received personalized service. We tried both the red and white wines and the selections were surprising and well curated. Wine Shoe was a great discovery and we will return!

Yelp
Came here for a wine tasting to celebrate a friend birthday and the Groupon didn't hurt either. Before I speak about the tasting, there is parking in a garage around the back. I went on a Saturday evening so don't know if it's free all the time or just for the hours I went. Now, for the tasting, the guy who gave it to us were SUPER knowledgeable and very personable. Felt like I was at home with friends on a couch sipping wine. I can say I definitely attained a plethora of wine tips that I will adhere to from here on out. The shop itself is cozy and the right side; gives me ole Italian wine cellar vibes. The selection is plentiful and tasty might I add. I'll definitely be back for a date night and may join their wine club.

Yelp
Hands down the best wine tasting class I've been to in Atlanta. What I love about this place is that it's great for the ones totally new to wine and also for those who know some but would like to improve their wine palettes. It's in a trendy area and the decor suits well with its neighborhood. Once you get in, you feel like being at a boutique wine store. Their wine selection is endless. There is dining table in the middle where the wine tasting is conducted. All the guests are seated at the table and that makes the whole event very causal and social. The wine educator/instructor is very friendly and tries his best to engage you. I especially liked his pace as he doesn't try to rush you through tastings and takes his time to answer and questions one may have during the class. Of course, the main purpose, to learn more about wine. Which they fulfill quite well. Would definitely recommend it for a date night or a fun activity with family and/or friends.

Yelp
First time stopping by this wine shop (thought it was a vino bar) - Loved the tasting, the Strawberry wine was amazing! I even joined their wine club, I can't wait to learn more! ps- great customer service. If you love wine as much as I do definitely consider stopping by here.

Yelp
Just discovered the Wine Shoe through a Scoutmob for their wine tasting on Thursdays. I must say that this has definitely made my week. The Wine Shoe is a boutique wine store in the Castleberry Hill neighborhood. It gives you the feel of an old wine cellar in a rustic country with its wooden tables and wall of wine. This is not your cookie cutter wine selection at the local supermarket. We were taken on a tour of wines with Jay Prince who was able to answer ALL questions about the Wine life. He was very knowledgeable and personable. He didn't rush us to taste and leave but to sit sip and enjoy the wine and the conversation. There is ample parking and they also offer a VIP wine club. Of course we joined. This is our new favorite place and will return often.

Yelp
Nestled in the quaint neighborhood of Castleberry Hill, we went to Wine Shoe randomly on a Friday night for a wine tasting class (available on Groupon!). Jaye, the owner of the shop, was absolutely amazing! He was friendly, extremely knowledgeable, kind, and open to his patrons. We were blown away by how lovely the experience was. Every bottle of wine that we tried was delicious, and very varied on taste/flavor based on age and region of country. We had such a great experience, that we immediately booked another wine tasting class after leaving! Would highly recommend Wine Shoe to everyone who wants to learn more about wine, or even just to simply stop by and pick up a great $20 bottle.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I started off a bachelorette weekend here. I searched online for a local wine tasting event and this was the perfect choice--and what a great deal! For $28 (including an early bird discount), we were able to sample 5 different types of wines, along with an assortment of accompanying crackers and cheeses and truly learn about Wine 101 from our instructor, Jay. Jay is extremely friendly and personable, funny at times, and a delight to learn from. He really made everyone feel very comfortable and at ease with questions and he has so much knowledge to share. At the end, we were able to purchase wines of our choice that Wine Shoe secures from all over the world that you would not be able to find at your local grocery store. Overall, this experience is great for a date or an activity with friends! We are very glad we chose Wine Shoe! Also, A+ for the awesome interior decorating!

Yelp
If you're a wine lover, plan to stop here! Admittedly, this was my only wine shop experience in Atlanta, but they set the standard by which all others will be measured! It's a beautiful shop, staffed by friendly and generous people. They had an excellent selection of wines from all over the world and were eager to open them up and sample them. They have an outdoor seating area that is beautiful and I only wish the weather allowed us to take advantage of it. If I return to Atlanta, I will definitely be stopping in at Wine Shoe and this time I'll bring a few selections from my own cellar. These people love wine and people! Stop in and see them!

Yelp
Read about this shop in Creative Loafing and bypassed closer shops to give it a try. The proprietor was apparently working a music gig, but I was assisted by an associate. I learned that this shop is engaged in educating folks about wine, and they seem to do tastings regularly. I explained some of my preferences and was given a few bottles to choose from. Uncorked this evening and thoroughly enjoyed the cab Sauvignon form Washington that I picked up. Venue is located in Castleberry Hills and parking on the street was available but could potentially be tight. The bottle I picked was around $20. Options were available for less. 1st experience was positive. I'm planning on revisiting and possibly doing a tasting.

Ulises M.

Yelp
Found this place on accident and love it. It's a wine shop that you can drink after paying for the bottle and a small corkage fee. The owner is super knowledgeable and every single wine we tried we loved. They also have affordable tastings on certain days and events at times. If I lived in Atlanta I would definitely get a membership here and be a regular!!!

Yelp
I went there last night for "Paws for Wine," an event that included your four-legged loved one(s). My two pups and Matt and I ventured across the street and were warmly greeted by the owners, Norah and her husband Shannon. They are both so welcoming and kind, and they have a beautiful beautiful dog, Barron. I loved the tried wines, and after looking through the selection, I am anxious to go get myself a bottle pronto. It is atypical for a wine store to have such friendly and accomodating people working there, but you are sure to find it here. Back to the most important part, where on Earth can you find a wine store that opens its doors to your pup?! I posted some pics of the event- it was great fun, the puppies got to enjoy one another's company, and they got to taste various bones as well (hehe, that was a joke although there were bones for them!). The courtyard was opened up (or I should say closed up- so they could not get out) for their pleasure. All the while, I got to taste amazing wines and be in great company. I certainly say, "Woohoo! As good as it gets! Check-ch-check-check-check-ch-check it out!"

Yelp
Walked in on the Friday night for Art stroll Castleberry Heights. There was a wine tasting going on, which was $10 for I think ten tastings. The food accompaniments were crackers. grapes, and not meaningful. We did not stay. The small retail shop seemed to have a good selection of wines.

Yelp
I've taken many wine classes but today's Wine 101 class at the Wine Shoe was one of the best. The class was informative in setting that felt very personable. I would highly recommend this place for both the novice and the well seasoned wine connoisseurs. The owner was friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was the right combination of southern charm and sophistication. I will definitely attend one of the other classes noted on the website in the future.

Yelp
Jaye knows his wines!! Had a quick trip through Atlanta and stopped by for a tasting. Great wines for a great price and even the bottles available for purchase were at great prices! Don't miss this amazing place or amazing man who knows his stuff.

V D.

Yelp
For my 60th birthday party I had Wine Shoe conduct a wine education for me and my out-of-town friends. We were allowed to have food catered and Jaye paired the wines with the menu. My girlfriends were blown away. The education was valuable, the wine was amazing, and Jaye provided us with a jazz ensemble with his saxophone. My girlfriends are still talking about the weekend. Best experience ever.

Yelp
I read about this wine shop in Creative Loafing and decided to add it to my places to check out. It sure didn't disappoint either! I was immediately greeted by Jaye- who was happy to assist and answer my MANY questions. I left with 3 bottles of wine that where costumed picked for my preference and desires. I started with the Pinotage- let me just say YES! It was an experience! I sipped slowly and embraced all the finishes, aromas and taste. Wine Shoe has a new customer in me. Especially, since its located on my ride home from work.

Yelp
Jay was our instructor.. Omgosh his knowledge of wine and letting the floor be open was wonderful. Nora did great our group and made us feel right at home. We had customers coming in telling us,"you guys are in for a treat"!! Treat it was ..I am in love with this beautiful and welcoming shop.

Yelp
Wow! We had a great time tonight at the wine tasting class. It was a great idea for date night, especially since we both really wanted to get up on our wine game. She's a red, Port, to be exact, drinker, and I prefer whites. We had the most AWESOME, incredible wine expert/teacher EVER, named Jay! He was personable, funny, in the age group of most of the class 30-46, and boy oh boy- did he ever know about WINE. The class lasted 2 hours. Sadly, it IS true, there are NO snacks. Nope, not even the crumb of a cracker. However, there is some really good wine, and some really good knowledge. The shop is really tastefully done, nobody tries to sell you anything, although the opportunity is certainly there, if you so desire. I got this via a Living Social deal, and was expecting the "Groupon/Living Social" experience. Yeah, you know the one. NOT this time! We were treated exceptionally well. Actually mulling over joining the wine club. If Jay is at the monthly wine club meetings, I think we could be persuaded! P.S. if it matters, yes, this IS the place that they filmed an episode of "Married to Medicine" in.

Yelp
During Flux 2011, the Wine Shoe had a wine tasting. My friend decided he wanted to taste the wines, and the woman behind the register convinced me to do it as well by ensuring us that we could begin with the tasting and come back instead of tasting all at once. The cost was 10 bucks for about an ounce of 8 wines. The woman pouring wines was pleasant, but a bit kooky. I have to say he demeanor was a bit off-putting. I was not sure if she was just eccentric or a bit tipsy. The wines were ok but there was only one I found noteworthy. I met the owner who seemed very nice. She was in a great mood and shared a bit about her own life. I always like "stories" that accompany the result of people's dreams. Though she was the most pleasant, she was not really working. When we returned, we asked for another (small, cheap) plastic cup to finish our tasting. The woman behind the counter, who told us to come back and skip the line, looked at us like we were awful. She questioned why we hadn't kept our cups. When I repeated the request, she said, "Really!? You guys are killing me." I was totally taken aback. I offered to give her a couple bucks for the cup. But she snorted and thrust the cups at us. I apologized for "killing her." We quickly left. I won't return if that is what is acceptable customer service. Breathe and smile, politely explain if something is a bother, but to be passive aggressive and rude is unacceptable.

Yelp
I love this place! I'm out of state and I was looking for the perfect wine place to host a bridal wine tasting. I reached out to Nora (the owner) and she was super responsive and very accommodating! First off, the place is like a wino's dream! Well decorated. Beautiful. Wine decor. You name it! We got the whole place to ourselves for the shower which was amazing and Nora allowed us to bring some decor in to decorate. Although the place was so nice we didn't need much except a few things to make it "Bridal"! We had 12 women attending the tasting and upon arrival each guest was greeted with sparkling wine and there was assorted fruit and cheeses while we chatted. Almost like a cocktail hour before the main event! As the time came for the tasting, Jay, our wine guide, was fantastic in explaining the flavors and location of each wine. He let us go at our own pace and was super attentive. The wines were delicious! I even bought a few to take home! The place was awesome and let us play some bridal games and truly gave a one of a kind experience for a bridal event. They even gave the bride a large glass for her tasting which I thought was great! If I lived in ATL, I'd be hosting here and going here all the time! Fantastic place!

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here for the wine 101 class, and we both had a blast! First, the space is very welcoming. The decor and the huge family style table encourages a laid back, interactive atmosphere. Teresa was our instructor for the class, and she was both personable and entertaining--and ofcourse she knew her stuff regarding wine. After the tasting was over, she recommended several great places to eat and we ended up meeting 4 other people from the tasting at Noni's on Edgewood Ave. I had a great time with my boyfriend here, but I could easily see this as a fun outting for several types of groups (there was a bridal party in our class). Very professional, affordable, educational, and engaging. We will definitely go back.

Yelp
We were treated by great friends to share in a wine 101 class (or was it the "Best Sellers"? Our wine expert seemed to be on the fence back and forth in that regard- :)) The hostess Amanda was very friendly and accomodating, as we came in late due to traffic. The lady who actually took us through our wine tasting "tour around the world" seemed knowledgable about the 6 different wines we tasted, and told stories about her visits to some of the wineries, describing her interactions with the people who own the small wineries. Wine Shoe purportedly only buys their wine from non-commercial small-time wineries. It was a good experience to taste some grapes I've never had (1999 Prospero Zinfandel which was pretty out of this world)-- or never even heard of before (Toscone(?) 2008). We left with 2 bottles of the Zinfandel and one bottle of the Toscone. Wine Shoe aims to be a place where you can learn about and taste wine in a less pretentious atmosphere- I honestly don't know whether that's 100% possible, but they did a pretty decent job this past Saturday. Give it a shot!

Yelp
Went for a wine tasting on wines from Portugal. The space is BEAUTIFUL and I could definitely see renting it out for a wine tasting event with friends. Most of the wines were ok, not fantastic, but a decent representation of the region. The final wine was from Washington and it was delicious. When someone asked a question about using a vinturi (aerator), the owner pulled one out and encouraged everyone to try two pours of the next wine to see whether we could taste a difference. I thought it was nice that she was so accommodating. All in all, it made for a fun night; I met new people, tried new wines and will happily try it again.

Yelp
I live near by, but won't say I'm biased per se, mainly because the bottom line is that a little shop like this is a welcome addition to any neighborhood, like Castleberry Hill and we are glad to have Nora and Shannon Wiley join us and choose our neighborhood. They offer great varietals and blends and most of the wines are from smaller, less well-known vineyards, which can make for interesting finds and stories. The price range is a nice variety of low/moderate to high so whatever you are looking for you are sure to find! Wine tastings are becoming Wednesday night regular events and Paws for Wine events, where 4-legged friends are welcome are Thursdays. They are involved in the neighborhood association and are always there offering a smiling face and open bottle. Make sure to stop by and say "hi" and take bottle to a friend or grab some for yourself!

Yelp
I love this place. I come here at least once a week (and sometimes twice or three times!) to pick up a bottle and always feel happy and right at home in this adorable little space! As someone who drinks lots of wine but is still pretty dense when it comes down to actual knowledge of different varieties, I appreciate that I can provide a little summary of what I'm needing for that particular day (a white to drink with pesto pasta on a picnic, a red that a typically non-wine drinking person might like, etc.) and they will always give me exactly what I'm looking for, without making me feel like a dummy, and at a great price too! I have also done a tasting with them during one of the art strolls as well as a class (on my birthday!) and both were super fun and interesting experiences that I plan on repeating. One of the best parts of this place if you have a canine companion is that they are extremely dog friendly. Not only has my pug attended both the tasting and class, but I usually bring her along anytime I even just stop in to pick something up. Love that! I must admit to being a little puzzled in regards to some of the other reviewers assessments of Nora and Teresa. I actually always really look forward to seeing them! Nora, the owner, is a permanent fixture behind the counter, and has never been anything but extremely friendly, helpful and accomodating. Teresa is hilarious and adorable! She never fails to shower my (already completely spoiled) dog with tons of attention, making it one of Frances' favorite destinations! I know that at the tastings, they use the cups as like markers for who is participating, so maybe that is why they aren't able to just hand them out to everyone? Also, one little tip is that there is a free parking garage around the back of the building so you can avoid street parking, which is a big plus. Whether you are looking for a cool little wine-centric activity or just a place to pick up a budget friendly bottle of great wine from time to time, this place is the best!

Yelp
The thing that I loved about this place was the fact ...... as Nora would say ( she doesn't sale Kroger wine) Most of the prices were around 15-20 dollars and she was very knowledge of the wine selection, my wine group had our monthly meeting and the lay of the place was just perfect for hosting. I love the location and even tho it was a icy day in ATL, I know this will be a nice treat as summer comes around.

Yelp
Like Katrina I'm biased too, I live right across the street. I have been with them and seen the selection of wines they will have. Awesome selections from Spain, Italy, France and domestic. Not available at your local Kroger or Publix. It will be an awesome addition to the Castleberry Hill neighborhood.

Yelp
I've attended 3 wine classes at the Wine Shoe over the last ~3 years. I've had a different instructor each time, and really enjoyed my experience! The last time I was in there (last month), it seemed pretty clear that Teresa - who is mentioned frequently in these reviews - was no longer teaching classes there, so that may make new customers feeling nervous about their trips after reading these reviews feel a bit more at ease. I had her for one class and had a perfectly pleasant experience, but she is kooky and I am not necessarily surprised that she's rubbed some people the wrong way. Joe, who we had most recently, was completely laid back and full of knowledge. He was able to answer both the basic and the extremely advanced questions and seemed equally interested in addressing the questions at both ends of the spectrum. They have a really great selection of wines across a broad price range. I love the discount you get on purchases made after class - I always enjoy bringing my favorites home! If I lived closer, I'd be here all the time.

Yelp
Pam A and I went to a Italian wine class one evening late in 2011. Our teacher, the nutty Teresa, is really into wine and gives a unique perspective about her experiences. I certainly learned a lot about wine, especially how most American wines are the devil because they contain sulfites and other chemicals. The location is definitely ghetto-fabulous so watch yourself when you're walking around there. Even saying that, I love it when nice places can get people into slightly sketchy locations. You know it must be good. They didn't push to buy their wines, but made it easy to do so. The wines we had were pretty tasty, but none really spoke to me as much as they spoke to Teresa. As long as you're cool driving to a slightly sketchy neighborhood and dealing with a very whacky wine professor I certainly recommend the classes. Their normal prices are pretty high, but you can always find BOGO discounts.

Yelp
I came in very skeptical. I was actually mad at myself for the $25 groupon impulse buy. Came in for the Bestsellers Wine Class and it turned out to be better than I expected. The royal seating in the middle of the store is a bit intimidating but you relax soon after the toast. Ted taught us about Vinicode, a wine characterization system he invented. He wasn't snooty at all, and even confessed that he likes some grocery store brands like Rex & Goliath! Way to keep it real. He kept it flowing when I found ones I liked. Overall, the class was informative. I use the lingo I learned, and am pretty confident about wine lists at restaurants now. I learned a lot more than I would have at just a tasting. Cons: I think their wines may be a bit overpriced. Manager has a dog that roams the store and sits on the furniture. I love dogs but didn't appreciate getting dog hair on my black sweater. Class prices have gone up.

Yelp
Amazing Date: Last month my girlfriend and I went to the Wine Shoe. We'd never done anything like this and we had a BLAST! Nora was so helpful and knowledgeable. We ended up doing a few different tastings and learned a lot about wine and the culture surrounding it. I think the greatest thing about Wine Shoe was that we both felt like family while we were there. Just as we were about to leave, a few regulars came into the store and bought some wine and shared it with everyone. It was the coolest experience to walk into a place where the staff and regulars treat you like one of their own. I highly recommend going there to learn, taste, and meet some new family! We are super excited about going back.

Yelp
I just attended the wine 101 class last night - what a great time!! I had previously been to the store once, on the Friday after THE snow storm. The roads were still icy, but I had to get out, so a few friends and I went down to the Wine Shoe to see if they had any tastings going on. Nora was super sweet and they were actually doing a free tasting because the weather was still so crummy out. We decided to do a class because the previous experience had been so great. I definitely learned things that I never previously knew about wine - a burgundy can be red or white or bubbly- it's just the region! Anyhow, if you're at all considering a class, DO IT, you won't regret it!! I think we'll be going back to do the California Wines class - it was that fun! On the shop itself: the interior is beautiful and very well done. Nora does have a dog, Barron, who is just the sweetest thing. I love having an animal around at all times, so I enjoy seeing him when I stop by (he's also not an attention whore, so you can shop and NOT notice him too). The wine selection is phenomenal!! Most of the wines Nora carries, you won't find anywhere else- with that being said, at least half of the bottles are under $20.00!!!! An Amazing deal!! I also love the fact that she will host tastings for bridal parties and birthdays (which is something I am definitely going to consider for the big 3-0 in October!) Parking is a breeze - the building is attached to a free parking garage. Just park and walk through a tiny courtyard. So, super convenient, great service, prices and wine! What more do you need?

Yelp
Tonight I attended the "Best Sellers" wine class at Wine Shoe with my girlfriend. Wine Shoe is a small, boutique wine store located in Castleberry Hill. We had been planning to attend a wine class somewhere around Atlanta and decided on Wine Shoe because of their location and because they had a Groupon. Our class was initially started by a friendly woman (who's name I can't remember) who seemed like she would have been a pretty good instructor. Unfortunately, our class was "taught" by another lady named Teresa. I'm not sure if my classmates and I had perplexed looks on our faces, but we were constantly asked if we had comprehended and understood what we were just told. Other than trying to figure out why Teresa thought we were all so dense, nothing in this class was hard to comprehend. There was a point in the class when a few other people in our class were having a quiet side conversation. Teresa actually stopped her "instruction" to ask these folks what they were talking about and if they wanted to let everyone else know what they were talking about. This was a wine tasting class, not a 5th grade social studies class. In addition to having to endure condescending remarks, this class was mostly a collection of Teresa's random stories. The conclusion of every story was don't buy wine from big wineries. Quite convenient considering how Wine Shoe only sells wine from small wineries. I could keep finding specific things to complain about, but instead I'll sum it all up with this: If Teresa is Wine Shoe's only instructor, save your money and go somewhere else. I walked away from class with essentially the same wine knowledge as I had walking in. The wines that we sampled were average to above average wines and the last wine we sampled was actually pretty good. When I bought my Groupon, I accidentally bought two. I plan to give my other to one of my enemies :-)

Yelp
This review is based on my attendance at a Wine 101 class. I will say upfront that I am not a wine drinker. I came at the behest of a friend. I was thinking that this would be a fun experience- trying some wines, learning a bit about wine, and socializing with my friends and others. This was far from the case. I'll get the general stuff out of the way first. This located near/in the Castleberry Hill area. Not hard to get to from my home. Except the class starts at 7pm and you know Atlanta rush hour traffic getting into downtown. There is parking along the street. We were looking for the free parking deck that was advertised on the website. We did find the parking (it is along the back), but there were numbered spots so we were worried that they were reserved. We drove around to the entrance to the shop and I hopped out to ask the owner if that was where we were supposed to park. Yes, it is- so now you have a heads up. The storefront is very lovely- I really liked the look of the place. Nice flooring and lighting. Great tables. The bathroom was even great. Though I have to say that the paper towel in a giant wine glass was a bit over the top and impractical. The night starts off pretty well. The first wine was really good. And I don't like wine. They we get ready for the class. The owner introduces herself and tells her about her journey to owning the shop then off we go. The owner seems like a really lovely lady. I have one piece of advice to her- get a new instructor. The class experience was absolutely awful. If I wanted to be treated like a 3rd grader, I would travel back in time and go back to elementary school. She was honestly like a Catholic nun that wanted to rap your knuckles when you behaved. No cell phones allowed (ok...maybe I can go along with this). No talking with your friends. Wait..I thought this was supposed to be fun. She told alot of stories that didn't make much sense...or at least I didn't see the relevance. She also spouted information that either didn't ring true or wasn't informative enough. I was pretty frustrated with the class about halfway through...thinking about how I would give this place 2 stars. Once the instructor actually called out my name to chide me for whispering my name, it was a wrap. 1 star it is. I have never wanted to rush home so fast to write my review. Later on in the evening (after laughing cause my friend drank a wine before she was supposed to), the instructor looks at me and says she has got her eye on me. Wtf?? I wasn't even the one that screwed up. Puh-leeze. So...I did learn things about wine. But that's cause I knew nothing. My friends who actually knew more than me were quite dissatisfied with the instruction and thought they were going to learn more than they actually did. My friend who set next to me actually really enjoyed a wine, but decided against purchasing it because of the behavior of the instructor. She stated that they didn't deserve her money. How sad is that. I did purchase a wine. I have never found a wine that I liked. So it was a miracle that I found one tonight. I couldn't pass that opportunity by. If I was a regular wine drinker, I also would have passed. My wrap-up. Coming to buy a wine?- this may be a good place. Coming for a class and you are real serious about it, will not talk to others, and don't care about fun?- come for the class. If you're just looking to have a grand, casual time with some wine and company- stay away (it is not meant for you).

Yelp
Not worth the time or money. I have been to many wine tastings both domestically and internationally have never once have I wanted to leave. The space is lovely. The experience was painful. The amount of wine that they pour is barely a sip. No exaggeration. They do not serve any bread or crackers during the 2 hour time. After being served a small pour of Prosecco upon arrival it was 38 minutes of talking by the owner and the "instructor" before they poured the first sip. Although they sell a great wine selection their knowledge of those wines was minimal and they kept it very vague about Red, White and Sparkling. It would have been more educational if they provided specific information about the actual wines and vineyards we barely tasted. They did not even provide the names of the wines without having to ask. I have never ever looked at my watch during a wine tasting and I could not wait for this experience to end. Also I don't wish to attend a food & beverage venue where anyone's dog is roaming around the facility.

Yelp
Great selection of wines from all over the world. First tried them at the gallery down the street during the art stroll last month and stopped by for their $10 wine tasting. Prices were reasonable (you could get a great wine fore around $15) and they carry a better selection than general liquor stores/grocery stores. I also love that the owners have a really awesome, beautiful, teddy bear of a dog that wanders the store. Castleberry just offers so much that people don't know about and while I want to keep this great place a secret, I also want to support the local businesses so I'll tell you that a great date night can be had by eating at No Mas or Wasabi, strolling through an art gallery or two and stopping by the Wine Show for a wine tasting class and to pick up a bottle or two. Finish off with a beer outside at the Elliot Street Pub and I guarantee you'll be drinking that bottle of wine together on your second date.

Yelp
I purchased my bf a Groupon for a wine tasting class for two, because he's just started to like reds and I thought it'd be a fun thing for us to do together. It was...fun. Interesting and slightly amusing as well. I don't think I feel any overwhelming need to go to this again though -- I'd rather hit up an actual winery up in the GA mountains next time. We arrived early (well, actually, at 6:45, which is what their website tells everyone to do). We were encouraged to go "explore" the neighborhood, which we did, returning right at 7 p.m. The inside of the Wine Shoe is really cool, and it's a great, intimate set-up for the wine tastings. We had a wide variety of wines to try; sparkling, whites and reds. We recieved backgrounds on all of them. What I liked: All the wines are unique and from small-time producers who only make pure wine, no sulfites or other additives. The booklet we got at the beginning of class gave a brief overview of each wine, and also gave wine facts and tips (nearly all I didn't know -- I'll keep the book). All the wines were inexpensive. The tastings we had ranged from about $10-$19 per bottle (we got 2 we liked before leaving). They also have a reasonably priced monthly wine club membership. I walked around after the class to see the other wines in stock and I think the most expensive variety was about $50, so it's cool that they are unique but not out of this world expensive. Also, free parking!! And lots of cool restaurants and bars within walking distance. What I didn't like as much: I understand this is all about "tasting" and not "drinking," but she was a little heavy on some people's pours and a little light on others (you were supposed to get 3 sips out of each pour, I was lucky to get 2. I think she used a heavy hand for the older people around the table, and skimped on us 20-somethings). Note, if you expect some small food pairings for a wine tasting, you will not get that here. They want you to only experience the taste of the wine. For the cost of a couple to take the class, I'd say it's a tad overpriced (Groupon makes it much more worthwhile). Side note: Adrian J.'s review is a spot-on summation of Teresa, the instructor. If I had to sum that lady up in one word, it'd be "kook." Like him, we also thought the (very nice) lady who checked us in would be our instructor, but nope! Teresa was very Europeanesque and kinda funny -- but she also told a lot of irrelevant stories about her travels to wine countries, with less informatino about actual wines. And she was a bit condescending to everyone (minus the one French guy in the class). I would even say she was a bit rude to me after giving some unclear directions about where she wanted everyone's wine glasses to be placed. My bf made a point to be the "class clown" (she told him she was going to have to put him in time-out -- yes, 5th grade all over again), so he kept me entertained. I basically had to just laugh about the awkwardness around the table. And like Joshua L. mentioned, she appears to be tipsy all the time. Maybe just her personality? Or maybe she just loves that wine...

Yelp
My husband and I went to the Wine Shoe today for a Wine 101 class and it was amazing! We know very little about wine (only that we like to drink it!) and the instructor, Jaye, was amazing. Our class had 8 people in it and the attention and time taken to answer our questions was greatly appreciated. We learned a lot, drank some great wines, and quickly decided to join their VIP Wine Club! I saw a previous review about lack of food and I am happy to report that we munched on crackers and cheese all afternoon. Go there if you get a chance - you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Nora (and her noble beast Baron) will make you feel at home as soon as you step through the door. Wine Shoe has a diverse and well chosen selection for your imbibing pleasure. I would recommend a special trip to Castleberry Hill just to browse the unique (and very reasonably priced) wines available here. Thankfully all I have to do is walk across the street...

Yelp
We went to the Spanish Reds tasting class, hosted by Teresa, and it was great. All the wines we tasted were under $20 a bottle - very reasonable. Teresa was super knowledgeable about the wines, and was more than eager to answer any questions we had about any wines, not just the ones we were tasting. I'm really looking forward to going back for more tasting classes at Wine Shoe. Also, one of my girlfriends hosted a bachelorette party here and said it was a blast. Nora, the owner, is a lot of fun and is truly dedicated to bringing in all different types of wines from small vineyards all over the world. Overall, this is a great place to learn about wine, taste wine, and just have a great evening.
