My husband and I had been tirelessly working all day (well, actually non-stop for days) on the launch of a huge project for our nonprofit to help the homeless. So, I was really looking forward to a relaxing and nice dinner.
And, really, that's what this place should have been. The menu offered a munch of tapas-like offerings, which is what we wanted.
For me, service and atmosphere are as important as the meal. It's a quaint and cute spot.
But the service was UNBELIEVABLY bad and unprofessional that it tainted the rest of the night.
We really just wanted little nibblies.
We had a dozen oysters. No complaints there. They were delicious. And, very reasonably priced too boot ($24 for a dozen.)
The garlic shrimp however was nasty -- overcooked, rubbery and tough. I don't even remember if I got one bite out of it. I'd definitely skip it.
Instead, I had the asparagus with lemon zest and parmesan. Eh. It was okay. Looked like an after thought. Not much creativity. But, again, like the shrimp, the asparagus wasn't cooked right, still on the tough side, and it was lackluster.
Jayson had the cheese and charcuterie. It's not a particularly inventful offering, but it hit the spot. There are places relatively close that offer a better selection of both cheese and meat. It definitely is a testament that Wine 30 is a wannabe tapas spot, but not quite arrived effort.
Would we go back, I can't see that happening. Should others try it, eh ... Are they the worst, not by any means. Just go in with low expectations and know it's money wasted.
