Winfield’s Chocolate Bar is the perfect place to satisfy any sweet craving. They offer a little bit of everything—rich chocolates, creamy ice cream, delicious cakes, and fun specialty treats. Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or something to take home and share, there’s always something worth trying. Their house-made chocolates are a highlight, with a great variety of flavors and textures. The cakes are moist and flavorful, perfect for any occasion. If you’re more into cold treats, their ice cream is smooth, tasty, and comes in classic and creative flavors. It’s a great spot to stop by with friends, pick up a gift, or just treat yourself. Winfield’s has something for everyone, and everything is made with care.

The shop itself is warm and inviting, with a cozy interior that blends modern chic and vintage charm. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to let you sample before making a decision (which is nearly impossible with so many tempting options). Whether you’re a chocolate connoisseur, an ice cream enthusiast, or simply someone with a sweet tooth, Winfield's Chocolate Bar will leave you smiling. It's more than just a dessert shop – it's an experience. 5/5 stars.

Google
Excellent cake shop. Came here after dinner at Sixty Vines which was not a great experience. So we decided to get dessert at Winfield’s and we were so glad we did. Aunt Etta’s was exceptional. As were other cakes. The serving size was huge. The coffee, which we definitely needed to go with the decadent chocolate cake, was very good too. Overall excellent experience and highly recommended. ETA - my family stopped by earlier and got their hot chocolate. Extremely decadent, rich and creamy…. Not the watery kind. Do not miss this… the 4 oz will go a long way because how rich it is. And service was wonderful then as well.

Google
I used to come here all the time, and they had a great selection of candied and chocolate apples, and a massive variety of chocolate covered everything from nuts to fruit. However, I stopped by today, and to my surprise, it is not the same. The selection isn't nearly as good as it once was. U was looking for basic chocolate covered pecans. None were available. I did, however, find two other chocolate bars that had nuts. Priced around $8.00 per.

Winfields Chocolate Bar Review From the moment we walked into Winfields Chocolate Bar, the warm and inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home. The front desk staff and helpers were exceptionally professional, answering all our questions with a smile and offering helpful suggestions. Given the chilly weather outside, we were torn between indulging in chocolate cake, carrot cake, or their signature Huge Yummy cakes, but also considered trying their ice cream. While we definitely had the opportunity to sample some ice cream, we ultimately opted for the cakes. They also had a stunning selection of truffles, some of the most exquisite pieces of chocolate I’ve seen in a while. It was clear that they take great pride in their offerings. The customer service was top-notch, and the fresh cappuccino and latte they made for my wife were delicious. The highlight of our visit, though, was the chocolate cake. It was incredibly moist with generous portions—truly a treat for any chocolate lover. The carrot cake, with its delightful combination of raisins, walnuts, carrots, and perfect icing, was equally delicious. Everything was so fresh, making for a memorable experience. As visitors from Boston, we couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend anyone passing through to stop by Winfields. It’s definitely worth the visit!

Google
Winfield Chocolate Bar has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Houston. The Chocolate Tres Leches and Uncle Darryl Cake are absolutely delicious! It’s the perfect place to take a break while shopping, as it’s surrounded by plenty of stores. I highly recommend stopping by and trying their desserts. The only item I didn’t love was the Nutella Mocha — the espresso flavor came through a bit too strongly, which made it hard to taste the Nutella. 🌟Highly recommended🌟

Google
Catherine, Hannah, natalie, are the best! Our new favorite dessert place in Houston! Soo many options to choose from! The cakes very really good and they had soo many options in ice creams! They also have a coffee section as well. Street parking available but the street can get packed. The prices are on the higher side.

Google
AMAZING CHOCOLATE TRES LECHES. The uncle cake is HUGE, good but a bit overly sweet for me, a little dry. Vanilla tres leches also very good, although the corner slice had some sad dry cake on the edge😂😂 still loved this place, very nice service, good quality cake that doesn’t leave me bloated.

Yelp
This establishment was listed as having DROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE on their menu. I called this morning to confirm, and they don't offer this item.

Yelp
I was taking a stroll through Rice Village and decided to stop in the Chocolate Bar. It was such a cute shop with cakes, chocolates, gelatos and other sweets. I decided to try their junkyard cookie which was filled with different candy. Delicious. I was also impressed with the creativity of some of their chocolate molds. Great service as well!

Yelp
The chocolate bar is a place I've been going to for years. I used to love the Willy Wonka-esque decor they had years ago, though the elevated current interior is also very nice. I was a little worried when the shop moved to a smaller area next door, but happily the quality stayed the same. When I stopped by this time, I was excited to try more of the delicious cakes that are very very generous in size. When I was torn between cakes, the server behind the counter offered to explain the differences, which was extremely helpful. I got the Aunt Etta cake and really enjoyed the soft chocolate cake with a perfect layer of fudge frosting. The chocolate tres leches was also amazing! I was only sad that their freezer wasn't working so I couldn't get the dark chocolate ice-cream. Next time!

Yelp
Very busy on a Saturday night. However many people were getting things to go. I was expecting a larger selections of chocolates, however they did have a good balance between Icecream, chocolates, and cakes. So in the end they had a little of everything. Red Velvet cake: nice large slice of cake. The Icing was not overly sweet and the cake was moist enough. I am not a giant Red Velvet fan, but this was a gook cake. Chocolate Tres Leches: I love Tres Leches, and this was a good cake, but no where close to the best I have had. The cream was a bit bland and the cake was just a tad crumbly. I would say pass on the cake. Cappuccino: Was Good and a great compliment to all the sweets. Ice Cream "Junkyard flavor": Oh man very good ice cream I could have eaten a pint. So many great flavors in one scoop. I would highly recommend if you like cand bars. Its not overly expensive or cheap. And worth a stop if you are looking for a treat. While not the best cake I have ever had I would recommend checking the place out and I would return, for the icecream.

Yelp
It's not quite as good as the Chocolate Bar was, but it's cute. We loved the chocolate truffles!! The carrot cake was ok, strong cinnamon taste which we didn't love and it wasn't overly moist. The chocolate popcorn and chocolate Fritos were good, but not quite as good as the old Chocolate Bar. Visitors loved their ice cream. Staff were friendly & helpful!

Yelp
I probably need to get better about remembering to take the picture before I start eating - but look at that slice! How could I resist?! I have a vague memory of coming to this place in Rice Village back when it was simply called "Chocolate Bar" but of course my memory may be failing me. The place has an elevated-Rice-Village feel, with tables spaced nicely, and with desserts galore. The Texas Sea Salt caramels look particularly interesting, but I couldn't allow myself two different desserts today. The cashier was incredibly friendly, and very attentive with each customer, despite how clearly busy the place was. The "frosting" (chocolate ganache, if I remember correctly) really elevates the cake, though I did wish the cake was slightly more dense, but oh man - quite tasty nonetheless. Will need to try the other chocolate cake slices soon and find a favorite.

Yelp
Love the cakes here! Haven't been back since they renovated. Love the new layout, they have a patio out back too. Got the carrot cake, the layers of cake to buttercream were well balanced! Great late night dessert spot.

Yelp
I'd like to go back to Winfield's to try more of their offerings because there are too many options to make a fully informed review from just one visit. I was in the mood for cake and ice cream, and plan to return to try out their actual chocolate. The tres leches was appropriately moist with a cake that wasn't overcooked. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but I think in the top 20 of the city for sure. If you prefer a less sweet tres leches, you should give it a try. The ice cream was AMAZING. I went for the brownie chocolate flavor, and it was so rich and creamy. A single scoop was more than satisfying. I had the brownie chocolate cake as well, which was good if a little overdone in the sponge. It wasn't overly sweet though as many chocolate cakes tend to be, which was a plus.

Yelp
Walked over to this after brunch with some girlfriends. The place is adorable and has a variety of offerings from ice cream to truffles, to cakes. I was the black sheep of the group and got the mango sorbet (of all things). I would rate it a 4/5. My friend loved her chocolate ice cream and another said their cakes are delish! This would be a great place to get gift for family and friends.

Yelp
Loved this place, very friendly service and the place is really cute, great location. My husband had the strawberry cake and he really liked it, I ordered the European hot chocolate, very rich but very delicious and I left with a couple of dark chocolate bars, tried the one with peanut butter and it's my new favorite.

Yelp
Hot chocolate 4/5 Black Russian 3/5 Tuxedo cheesecake 1/5 I am a huge cheesecake fan and I don't think I have ever had cheesecake that I did not like. But I guess there is a first for everything. The cake that really ruined my experience was the Tuxedo cheesecake. It was extremely airy and sweet. If I wasn't the one who ordered the cake, I would not have even been able to guess that it was a cheesecake. So for the first time in my life, I left most of the cheesecake untouched. The black russian was better, especially with its rich chocolate flavor, but was still overly sweet for my palate but I can see how this can be really enjoyable for someone. My favorite thing from the menu was the hot chocolate. The staff was extremely nice and gave me a heads up that its thicker than how some people likes it. Though for me it was perfect. It was rich and topped with whip cream. However, overall I don't think my experience justified the price at this store.

Yelp
I placed an order online after seeing the company mentioned during the championship football game. It took a while to receive my order after placing online. I contacted customer service and received a response from Rachel M. to give her a call. We spoke on the phone she apologized for the delay and promised to add additional items to my box to keep my order. My box arrived the next week with nothing additional. My daughter was looking forward to it. Contacted Rachel again who replied and said she would look into it. Now my emails are being ignored. Customer service quickly went from exceptional to awful. As far as the chocolate I did receive it was pretty good, but I will not be ordering from here again.

Yelp
Simply decadent - wonderful chocolate shop with some of the most scrumptious cakes. Huge fan of their chocolate tres leche and tiramisu!

Yelp
Sadly I don't get to eat as many sweets as I used to. So when I do I really MAKE IT COUNT - and Chocolate Bar rises to the occasion! So many delicious options to choose from. They sell amazing cake as a whole or by the slice. If you are in the area stop by - I would recommend going with the wedding cake - its definitely my go to here.

Yelp
Came here with a few friends, mainly for a snack and to hang out before dinner. dessert before dinner is always a plus. I sampled a few of their ice creams, their chocolate flavored ones were good and rich. However I really wanted to sample their flavors with Oreos but they ran out. But no worries, they have plenty of dessert options. Their cakes look so decadent. I finally picked the OMG cheesecake (after 20 mins of being indecisive between a chocolate cake and a cheesecake). I do NOT regret that decision. I love cheesecake overall, and this slice was pricey but delicious. It was not dense, tasted creamy and not too sweet. The bottom of the cheese cake was filled with a brownie crust with toffee bits, layers of chocolate mousse and cheesecake. IT WAS SO GOOD. Highly recommend this cheesecake. Also very friendly staff.

Yelp
Cute spot for dessert! The specialty dessert was really tasty, but kind of small for the price.

Yelp
If you're a chocolate lover like me, when you go to a place named "The Chocolate Bar," you know it has to be good. When you enter the shop, you first see their ice cream counter with a wide selection of flavors. Around the counter, you'll find giant cakes that will make your jaw drop, and other truffles and small treats are around the bend. While the names of the cakes and prices were prominently displayed, I would recommend having more signage describing the cakes and ingredients, but the staff was helpful in answering questions about their items. For an afternoon snack, I decided to get ice cream. I appreciated that their counter clearly displayed the different scoop sizes, prices, and drink menu options. They offered as many samples as you wanted to try, and ice cream flavors were clearly labeled with all of the main ingredients. At around 5pm, they were out of a number of flavors, but the only flavor I ever need was still in stock: Creamy Dreamy Truffle. While I did sample other flavors, it was a no-brainer for me. Creamy dark chocolate always! The small one scoop was the perfect size for me and cost a little under $5. It would also make a delicious milkshake, but I didn't want to spoil my dinner. Another customer ordered a specialty drink and it was picture perfect. Plenty of seating was available. It seems like it would be a nice afternoon hangout spot. As their little ice cream cups suggest, The Chocolate Bar serves happiness in a cup.

Yelp
Parking: There is some parking in front of the bar and there is parking lot right across the store. Yet parking can be tricky as this is a busy area. Ambience is nice. Its cute probably because of all cakes and chocolates lying around. Seating: seating capacity is decent and its a great place to have a post diner dessert. All cakes and chocolates have eggs so no options for vegans. Taste: we got the cake and ice cream. The ice cream and the small cake tasted good but the big one was just a piece of sugar and bread. $11 for for bug chin of sugar is a lot. Wont recommend taking that big ones to anyone. Service was good. The person behind the counter explained what are the ingredients and flavors in the cake.

Yelp
been calling for 3 days straight at least 5 times a day to place a order and they never answer line says busy or my call gets forward need to update there number or something

Yelp
UGH! So sad.. I raved about CB to a friend who has never been. We visited on a Friday night and decided to get some ice cream. We got the Snowberry and Tiramisu. The Snowberry was flaking apart when trying to eat it. It was almost like it had frostbite? Very weird. We could not figure out why the consistency was NOT that of ice cream.. The Tiramisu was better consistency wise, however, it was not satisfying. I am super bummed because I remember Chocolate Bar being way better than my most recent experience. I also feel bad for raving about it to a friend and both of us being left disappointed.. Wish we tried the cake instead. 3 Stars for the kind staff! Note: They no longer offer 1/2 price chocolate covered fruit after 8:00p which is a huge bummer. :(

Yelp
This used to be my favorite dessert spot till about a few years ago when ownership changed. The taste wasn't the same after. However, when I stopped by there yesterday and ordered their double shot espresso, it wasn't so bad. It still isn't the same taste but it was pretty good. The girl behind the counter was very sweet and friendly. She had a smile on the whole time and greeted customers well. The place was empty yet clean. They've added more selections like different cones that the previous owner did not have, which I think is great because we had to go to another ice cream shop just to get cones and then come here for their ice cream lol
google avatar

Nicole O.

Yelp
I honestly love the cakes here so much I just knew it was time to write a review! From the moment you get out of the car and walk in you are instantly hit with the sweet smells of chocolate, cake and ice cream! The service is quick every time I go I never have to wait in a line so that is a plus! The average price for a slice of cake ranges from $8-$11 which may seem a little pricey but it is definitely worth it the sizing of slice can't even fit in my hands! Plus I always have some cake left over.

Liane C.

Yelp
This place has been bought out. What used to be my all time favorite chocolate and strawberry cakes now taste like cakes you can buy from a supermarket. Not good. So disappointed and really sad. If anyone from the original chocolate bar sees this! Feel free to message me and let me know where you have moved to and what you're now called! I'll travel far for your cake. But not this place. Yuck.
google avatar

Leah W.

Yelp
I ordered the Aunt Etta Chocolate Cake and it was delicious. It was a HUGE slice, that was rich and fudgy, could've been a tad more moist though. I only gave 4 stars because although the cake is great, $13+ I believe is very expensive for a slice. I would still recommend this place for those who love chocolate, and i'm hoping to try more items!
google avatar

Arya N.

Yelp
If you like chocolate cake, there are so many options to choose from. Prices are a little on the higher side, but the portion sizes are generous. The staff are friendly and quite helpful. There is plenty of seating area inside the store as well. I ordered a slice of the bodacious brownie which consisted of two layers of chocolate cake, separated by chocolate mousse, and topped with dark chocolate ganache. The cake itself was very rich, and I definitely couldn't finish it on my own. I think they can improve with plating. I decided to eat the cake at the store, and it was served on a disposable plate, which was much larger than the slice. I would recommend using higher quality plates/utensils.

Sohail H.

Yelp
Visited yesterday with my mom, brother and stepbrothers and I really enjoyed the ice cream!! Loved the brownie supreme flavour a lot, loved the taste of the cookie dough ice cream! Would really love a location here in Dallas!! Please take this in consideration and will plan to open up here in DFW!!
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
This place is not what it used to be. I got the brownie cake for the probably the 4th or 5th time tonight and it is extremely dry. The Oreo crust completely fell off the cake and none of the bites of cake hold together. They are also so stingy with their frosting now. Very disappointing given the cost of this cake. Additionally the redesign feels less homey and I miss all the seating they used to have. I've always loved the Chocolate Bar but I'm not sure if I'll be back.
google avatar

Britnie B.

Yelp
YESSSS!!! if you're ever in the mood for delicious and sweet, desserts The Chocolate Bar is a must! He's cute and cozy desert shot of the sweetest and most patient employees as I tried almost every ice cream. The brownie, super rich, and a great size. They also have an assortment of packaged chocolates which would be a great gift.
google avatar

Kori W.

Yelp
I'm picky when it comes to chocolate cake so take this review with a grain of salt. I had the chocolate cake and it was a bit on the dry side. The frosting doesn't even save it. My kids liked it but i don't see myself spending that much on dry cake when i can make a moist version at home.

Kathryn S.

Yelp
Stop sending your stale cake with Uber Eats orders! We've eaten there and had delivery, and the delivery is not good. Will not be ordering or going there again. Shame on your business for sending sub-par food to people you know can't send it back!

Yelp
I recently discovered The Chocolate Bar this year and I wish I knew about them earlier. It might be because their name on Google is different? Or because I am admittedly not the biggest chocolate fan and I thought that all they had was chocolate??? There are so many desserts to choose from, but their chocolate is obviously worth trying. When you first enter, you see the ice cream counter with a set selection of flavors. To the left, they have their massive cake selection, and to the right, they have so many truffles and treats to choose from. The workers are so helpful! I couldn't decide which ice cream flavors to choose, but they allowed me to sample at least 5 different flavors. I eventually settled with yuzu and snowberry, which are my ultimate favorites. Coconut bliss is also up there in my favs! Their chocolate ice creams are very popular and worth trying. Even as someone who prefers dark chocolate, the chocolate ice creams are VERY decadent and undeniably good. As for the cakes... You must try the Uncle Daryl. The slice is MASSIVE and unbearably sweet, but also just soo good! The cake is a 4-layered chocolate cake with chocolate chips and toffee crisps and fudge filling?, as well as a ganache outer layer. The OMG Cheesecake was also delicious, but on the pricier end for what it is. Whenever i'm craving something sweet, The Chocolate Bar never fails to satisfy!
google avatar

Keisha B.

Yelp
C is for Cookie Ice Cream was delicious! I'm not a big ice cream person and intended to get something else but once I had a sample of this ice cream I was sold. All the rich (but not overly sweet or sugary) flavors made this probably the best ice cream flavor I've had in a long time. As soon as you walk in the service from the staff was warm and inviting. Overall highly recommend Winfield's.
google avatar

Scott L.

Yelp
I'd need to have a pretty bad hair day not to give 5 Star reviews to a chocolate bar, or frankly, anywhere else with chocolates in its name. Great service, but hard to appreciate while surrounded by cocoa!
google avatar

Elicia D.

Yelp
The chocolate bar in rice village is an absolute must for any chocolate lover!homemade cakes, Brownies, ice cream, cookies and more! It was such a wonderful experience. The cake slices were absolute huge (think Matilda)! I was having a hard time choosing from Aunt etta and uncle Darryl so I got both! They were so moist and flavorful. Sampled some ice cream and they are so many amazing flavors but ultimately decided on the butter pecan. Omg yum! Parking is challenging but if you can't find any there is free 2 hour parking in the garage. Don't forget cake! It's truly divine. 1 slice is enough for 2! Amazing staff!
google avatar

Josh Y.

Yelp
The hot chocolate is out of this world. The cake is good but not great. The ambiance is interesting - sort of old school ice cream parlor. The people working here are very nice and helpful, but that also means long lines. I'd have the hot chocolate again and skip the cake. 4/5 stars overall, 5 start hot chocolate. Unique, rich, creamy and incredibly chocolatey. I'll be back for the hot chocolate.
google avatar

Mel N.

Yelp
Chocolate EVERYTHING. It's so far from me but worth the drive every time. The cake slices are huge! My favorite is the Uncle Darryl which is all chocolate with toffee pieces mixed into the frosting and sprinkled on top. So decadent. The ice cream, hot chocolate, and cheesecake slices are also drool worthy. And don't forget about the chocolate covered espresso beans!
google avatar

Kaylyn J.

Yelp
I was never a tres leches fan until I came here. Extremely good. I haven't tried anything else, but tres leches, I highly recommend.
google avatar

Lupe M.

Yelp
My first time here and I was super excited to see everything they had. I went there because I wanted something chocolate and ended up leaving with strawberry cake lol. I couldn't decide what I wanted and ended up with my eyes locked on this super pink strawberry cake that looked amazing. I was so upset when I got home and opened my bag to see my slices had been smushed into a container that was too small. Not complaining and the price but this slice wasn't exactly cheap. Plus if I was buying this for someone else I would have been embarrassed. You can see in my pics this doesn't make sense. As far as the taste of the cake it was good. Cake itself was very moist and the flavor was spot on. I would recommend this cake but make sure they use the correct container when packaging it.
google avatar

Malek B.

Yelp
I wouldn't go back. Service was fast and accommodating. Dark chocolate cake was awful. Cake itself was dry, icing was butter & sugar, skipping the chocolate. Maybe we choose the wrong dessert? Others wanted the white wedding cake, but we were there for chocolate. Not sure if it's a chain, cashier didn't know. Had a corporate, well polished feel to it - well honed logo was plastered everywhere, decor had a nice color scheme.

Allie S.

Yelp
High quality everything. Best ice cream, best turtles, amazing cake. Nice people and cute shop

Yelp
Maybe it is a bit of nostalgia, but my wife and I remember the day of a cases full of cakes, ice cream, and chocolate. When we would take trips into Houston, we would make a Chocolate Bar stop nearly every trip be it in Rice or on Alabama. Today was the first time seeing the rice village location half the size. Where were the cakes? Where was the ice cream? And more importantly, where was the chocolate? Being disappointed by the display of chocolate, I succumbed to a piece of red velvet and an americano. I was greeted with an imposter piece of Red Devils food cake without the cream cheese frosting of the past and a scalding cup with a leaky lid, but at least the lid was biodegradable. My wife and I looked at each other at nearly the same time, said 'we never have to come back here again,.
google avatar

Courtney W.

Yelp
A fun place for dessert, we came on a Monday afternoon. Plenty of seating inside and so many dessert options. My friend and I split a slice of chocolate tres leches, which is really big and rich. It's delicious though, with all of the flavors of hersheys chocolate and the wonderful milky texture of tres leches. Highly recommend trying it if you're here! It is a little pricey, a Slice is about $8. Very shareable because it's so big.
google avatar

Jessi M.

Yelp
Stopped in here back in the summer when my husband and I visited Houston. We went out to lunch is the shopping center, walked around some stores and ended up here. I was hoping for more vegan options but after asking many questions and pestering the staff, I found some vegan gelato. Man it was good! My husband got a chocolate cake and though I thought it was pricey, it was huge. If you're in the mood for chocolate, mama, this is your place!
google avatar

Benito F.

Yelp
Unfortunately due to bad choices in life I cannot indulge in sugar but rest assured anytime an out of towner comes we bring them here. Just the name brings an interested smile to peoples faces. Honestly if you want to try some good dessert not ok dessert the kind of dessert that makes you want to come back and show people this is the spot!
google avatar

Regina W.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere here and the chocolate tres leche is the best. I was honestly craving it. Gotta try it and the service is always on point. Greeting as you walk in

Michael S.

Yelp
I'm guessing this place has been bought out because the cakes taste like box cakes now. Not what it used to be.

Yelp
10/10 will recommend if you are a dessert and chocolate lover! This is a very cute establishment with a wide assortment of sweets I purchased two slices of cake to share and was definitely not disappointed! I purchased the strawberry cream slice the decadent brownie cake slice with chocolate ganache Strawberry cream cake 10/10: the slices are well enough for two so good portions. The cake tasted like Strawberry short cake to me although it was Strawberry cake with a delicious strawberry cream cheese icing and strawberry buttercream on top.The cake itself was moist and not too sweet! I like a good dessert but I'm the weirdo that doesn't like it too sweet. Decadent chocolate brownie cake 10/10: As I grow older I stray further and further away from chocolate. Not my fave. I like a good tart lemon or fruit dessert but I digress..... This cake is definitely rich and decadent, (like me), moist, and again not too sweet. They use a nice cocoa because it tastes so good. It's a chocolate cake but rich and dense like a brownie! They sell whole cakes which I may purchase in the future if I have a large dinner party. The cakes heights are huge so perfect for a large crowd.
