This cozy parlor in Chinatown serves up inventive homemade ice cream flavors and breakfast sandwiches, creating a must-visit sweet escape.
"No, it’s not a typo. This Central District takeout window from the team behind nearby Temple Pastries serves both ice cream and sandwiches—not ice cream sandwiches. But the combination of velvety soft serve and egg-stuffed bread works for a morning meal and afternoon snack, respectively, worth going out of your way for. In the case of the ice cream, flavors like tangy pandan and tart mango almost get overshadowed by the toppings. (Almost.) Crunchy mini croissants make a great spoon alternative, and a coconut almond crunch that tastes like granola took a trip to Oahu and won’t shut up about it. But the breakfast sandwiches are the best thing here. For the fancy folk, there’s a fluffy milk bun with french ham, fried eggs, paprika aioli, and pops of acid from chopped pickled asparagus. And for the hungover, a springy english muffin sausage-egg-and-cheese slathered with smoky hickory mayo. The next time your friends want a box of pastries from Temple around the corner, leave them and grab one of these beasts." - Aimee Rizzo
