Google
Strong hit or miss spot… the 3.7 average rating is accurate. Their crispy pork belly is the best i tried in Houston. Also the duck is close to perfect - very juicy and tender. Would come back for those (only!) The flat noodle beef was good - awesome wok hei. However, their chicken was the driest I had in a while… Also the home made chili paste was not good at all. Strong unappetizing flavor. And the HK style coffee milk tea was just ok…watered down flavor. The atmosphere is nothing special. The service very friendly though!

Google
This place has been more of a hit than a miss. If you want decent service, I recommend coming right when they open. Once the crowd starts coming in, the service attitude definitely matches what others have mentioned in past reviews. The food is consistently good, but don’t count on the service. In life, you give and take and here, you're mostly coming for the food.

Google
It’s a little restaurant on Wilcrest just south of Bellaire. We ordered a combo of roasted pork 燒腩仔 and roasted duck 燒鴨 and it was delicious especially the crispy skin of the roasted pork (just love it)!! We also had the deep fried frog 酥炸田雞 that was great! And a veg dish of braised tofu 冬菇豆腐with black mushrooms! All good.

Google
First time was very crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Great flavor. However, came here a second time right when they were open but the crispy roast pork tasted like it was left over night. No crispiness what so ever and lack flavor.

Google
If you're ONLY coming to pickup duck or roast pork you're fine. That's the best and only thing good about them. Mapo tofu. Don't bother. Veggies were good. Steamed ground pork with salty fish--waste of money. Service sucks. Servers are decent enough. The absolute Worst part is the lady working the cash register with the short hair. Customer service or care skills are a zero or lower. I will assume she's the boss' wife bc she kept bossing everyone around rudely. Refer back to the first statement above.

Google
Came here for a family lunch and was plesantly pleased with the authentic cantonese dishes. They specialized in cantonese BBQ such roast duck, char siu, crispy skin pork belly, soy sauce chicken and more!

Google
The roasted pork was dry and no flavor. The quality went down. It used to be good.

Stormin Chu

Google
A hole in the wall authentic Chinese spot that takes cooking to a whole new level. Located in the former Vibe plaza this spot is refreshing gem that really puts quality cooking and flavors on the map. Best part of all the cost is super friendly. Has to be that way due to the intense completion on the Bellaire/Chinatown Chinese food front. Every time we come here there’s not a bad dish, not a bad flavor. Apologies for the 1/2 eaten food pics as the some of the people were unable to control their appetites before my photos

Yelp
This little restaurant is fantastic, love their roast duck noodle soup. The BBQ pork looks great and the roasted pork belly is crunchy and delicious. The outside doesn't look great but the inside is clean and simple. A little hole in the wall restaurant is the best. The servers are very friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back to try other dishes. What a discovery!

Yelp
The service here is terrible. Customer is normally ignored and treated badly, especially if you don't speak Chinese.

Yelp
My mom is obsessed with this place so when I flew down to visit this time around, she kept pressing me to try it. I let her take over and order since she's a local and it's her favorite spot. We got a pound of bbq pork char siu and a whole duck. The char siu was my favorite. It had the right depth of flavor and good lean-to-fat ratio. The texture was the elasticity I was looking for and not at all dry. It was a little too well-glazed as it was on the sweeter side (if you look at my picture of the char siu, the sauce is mostly glaze). My impression of the duck was the most unexpected - all the other ducks in the area have disappointed me but this one met my standards. It had crispy skin and the meat was savory enough without the accompanying soy sauce, and most importantly, it was not gamey. The chef cut up a whole duck for us straight out of the oven (the bird was so piping hot that steam came out as the knife went in). He's a real MVP for holding that duck like pain receptors in his hands don't exist (that's how you know if an Asian chef is a pro - when heat/burns feel like nothing to them). I have no complaints about the duck except it was slightly undercooked. The chef should have allowed the duck to rest prior to cutting. Resting is often overlooked but it's actually a crucial part of the cooking process (it doesn't just apply to steak). This is because when you rest meat, it continues to cook... which is why the ducks hanging on display for hours were fully cooked whereas the one he gave me fresh out the oven wasn't. Having tried four other popular Cantonese bbq spots in Houston, Wing Kee surpasses the bar previously set by all the other bbq restaurants I've tried. I say this with confidence as their meats can compete with what you can find in NYC's Chinatowns. Fun fact for non-NYC locals: we actually have three major chinatowns (plus a handful of smaller, scattered chinatowns) -- not just one -- imagine the food options!

Yelp
A small Cantonese restaurant that serves big portions of food for sharing. The sweet and sour pork was a little hard but tasted good. The wonton noodles were ok. Soup was Hong Kong style but the wonton skin was a little thick. The sautéed flat rice noodle with beef and egg was not too bad. Silky egg combined the beef and flat rice noodles together. Generally all the food was a little salty for me. Service was fast and great though.

Yelp
I hate that I have to write this review as I have enjoyed their food in the past. I order takeout this weekend and midway through eating out food we found a piece of hair in our food. Hair alone I can live with but a few bites later (what can I say we were hungry) we found a bug. Overall, I may still come back for their roast meats as I can closely inspect the food I get but this incident pretty much turned me off to this place.
google avatar

Jenny W.

Yelp
This is authentic Cantonese food. Totally exceeded expectations. First time trying their Roast Pork, and it was the best I've ever had. We also ordered the house special chicken and spicy/salty toasted squid: highly recommend both!
google avatar

Michelle Y.

Yelp
I ordered take out and my fiancé went in to pick up the food so I'm not sure how it looks like inside. We were recommended to get BBQ from a friend. When called to place an order we were told they didn't have any BBQ pork left so we went ahead and just ordered a whole duck. When my fiancé went in to pick up the food he saw a HUGE pan of BBQ pork so he once again asked to order a pound, this time since it was out they then said they have it. Even ordering a whole duck they were able to fit it into 1 container, but only provided enough sauce for half a duck. Since I was visiting I'm not sure if that's the norm in Houston. The BBQ pork was flavorful but the duck wasn't as good. I've had better ones from many other places. The duck tasted more on the bland side even with the sauce.

Yelp
Service was a hit or miss. The Vietnamese lady was very nice, but the other servers were a little rude. Food was good, the roasted pig is a must try. It had very crispy skin and tender meat. The place itself might be a bit unsanitary as I found a roach running across the place.
google avatar

emily c.

Yelp
The roast pig they sell till run out but the people who frequent here knows to come here at 12:00 take it to go and leave. Obviously they run out after 2 or 3 pm. When I came here the frequents know what time their stuff comes out and form an automatic queue. Even Alief police knows when to come get their take out. I came here again at 6:15 and the waitress basically looked at me when I ordered bbq meats that o should know better??? Good place for roast pork and char siu but hard for me to get there at the magical time.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Wow! Hands down the best roasted pork that I have ever had! So crispy, fatty, and salty! The duck is great too!
google avatar

Sheryl S.

Yelp
Went in today to get a pound of charsiu and a pound of roast pork and paid $37 ! Both charsiu and roast pork were decent but dishonest restaurant owner is a major turn off for me. I don't think I will be back again. If you go ask for receipts ! If not be ready to get ripped off like I did !
google avatar

Peter K.

Yelp
I ordered 1lb bbq Pork and 1lb roasted pork, roasted was okay, crunchy but bbq one was too sweet but they give me each order 2 lb or more, they reying to sell you more for your asking. Came out $40 for it. Restaurant kinda empty when I walk in. They won't last long in my opinion. They try to fool you. Stay away
google avatar

John Z.

Yelp
I personally don't like it. Flys were flying around front desk. I ordered the duck, tasted ok but too hairy( wasn't clean all the feather)

Yelp
Wing Kee has always been a Houstonian favorite and is widely considered one of the best authentic Cantonese cuisine available. The chinese BBQ is always on point, particularly its char sui and roast pork. Always crispy to the taste and the savory flavors hit home. Our party got green onion/ginger crab served of pan fried noodles and was absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself feels very cramped and with tile floors and walls, this place gets LOUD during lunch/dinner with all the sounds bouncing around. The auntie waitresses are exactly that, not too focused on politeness and service minded, but definitely efficient in they do. Expect masked up faces and barely able to hear them speak. Wing Kee's food is its strong focal point, its relatively sparkly clean for an asian restaurant in chinatown and the reputation lives up to its hype.
google avatar

Megan V.

Yelp
My sister waited 15 minutes at the table and was completely ignored. The table right next to her came in at the same time but because they spoke fluent Chinese they were given priority and good service. We have never had issues here when we come with my mom (perhaps because she speaks Vietnamese fluently). The waitress does speak English well too though, so I'm not sure what that's about! Really recommend going to Siulap City instead of Wing Kee.
google avatar

Cynthia V.

Yelp
Came here for the famous roast pork and was in no way disappointed - it easily lives up to the hype in my eyes. I have no idea how they get the skin so crispy while the meat is so tender and juicy...pure magic. Since we felt a little guilty about just eating tons of pork for our meal, we switched it up for a few items and ordered their beef flat noodles and crispy tofu. Everything was excellent and served family style so it was easy to try a variety of items. Their menu is huge so it should not be hard to find something to satisfy everyone in your party. I cannot wait to come back to get my pork fix again in the future!
google avatar

Huyen N.

Yelp
Another spot that was highly recommended to me. Orders came out quick and all were pretty much tasty and filling. Wish I was able to try the last roasted duck hanging but someone else beat me to it.

Yelp
They have very good roasted duck but I will not come back because of the old Chinese lady (owner). She is very rude and mean. I came 2 times because I wanted to give her the second chance but I had 2 bad experience here because of this old Chinese lady. I dont know what I did but I just ordered roasted duck for to go and she always acts like we come to ask her for free food. Very mean, bad behavior, bad attitude. She is the worst attitude owner I have ever met in Houston where tons of restaurants around. Maybe she does not need us to come but we paid the her bad attitude that made us so sad. She ruined our vacation days.

Bo F.

Yelp
worst service I have ever seen ,rude Bad attitude , only cash at BBQ, Never will come again!!!

Yelp
Better to order ahead bc they get so busy. Great roasted duck and bbq pork . This is our go to spot for bbq!

Kim C.

Yelp
Great ! Best roast pork in town! I love the roast pork and duck here Would highly recommend

Pierre Y.

Yelp
If you're looking for the best Hong Kong style Chinese BBQ, this is the place! The young chef perfectly captures the flavor of the traditional Cantonese style BBQ duck. It's prepared very different than Peking duck.
google avatar

Chelle N.

Yelp
The best roast pork! How do they do it?! I also ordered the flat noodles with beef and broccoli, salt and pepper squid, and crispy tofu with seafood. Everything was so good and tender! It was cold AF inside, maybe that's why the food is so good.
google avatar

Yelp
When it comes to Chinese BBQ, my heart... errr I mean, stomach, will always belong to "Long Sing" (which is now "Siu Lap City" in midtown). With that said however, Wing Kee has climbed its ranks on my list through several years of consistency and good quality. I hope they keep it this way too! I give high recognition for the following items: 1. Chinese Crispy BBQ Pork (Siu Yuk) - The skin is always SUPER crispy and crunchy. The meat is well seasoned, moist, and tender. That bit of fat between the meat and crispy skin... worth it. The rest of their Chinese BBQ meats are good here too, but this one really stands out among their local competitors. You just can't get the same amount of crunch when you bite into their roasted crispy pork skin. 2. Salt and pepper fried squid - It's so good! It's my favorite fried squid dish in China Town. Confucius used to be great, but lately it's been under seasoned. R House is ok, but it's not as crispy. Crown Seafood is delicious, but I have to say, Wing Kee beats them all. We have been ordering this dish from them for a good while and it's never been a let down for us. Goes perfectly with just steamed white rice. 3. Gai Lan with Beef stir fry - This is a really simple dish but it brings balance to the entire set of entrees to pick on. You get super tender beef that is not overly salted or seasoned, over a bed of healthy greens (Gai Lan). To me, the flavor is a welcoming reminder that there are no limits to a palate - the flavor is by far not extreme on any side of the spectrum... it just has a simple home flavor and it tastes good. As of 2020, the price here has remained fair. They offer lunch specials (smaller portions) or their normal menu. Nothing fancy. If there was a term for "Chinese Soul Food", then Chinese BBQ should definitely be in that category. Wing Kee is definitely onboard that train too. I noticed that many fine Chinese staples change over time. Not sure if it's because of new management or new chefs, but I really hope Wing Kee stays this way for a long long time.

Yelp
Hole in the wall but amazing food. Service is norm you'll find across the whole china town. --Roasted Pork (5/5) - Has got to be the crunchiest I've ever had. The skin is almost like a cracklin! --Roasted Duck (4/5) - Also very flavorful but it's more on the soggy side because of the sauce drenched but still good. --Green Beans with Pork (5/5) - Very flavorful and crunch also had dried shrimps that are minced very fine in it. (For you that don't like the strong shrimp aroma) --Scrambled Egg and Shrimp (5/5) - Basic but sooo good! I love the softness and fluffy of the eggs. --Salt and Pepper Squid (3.5/5) - I've had better elsewhere but it was drenched in oil and so I couldn't tell if it was the squid that was super soft inside or just a lot of oil. I would probably pass on this next time. It also had an aftertaste I couldn't put my finger on it. I've been here twice this month and I am grateful to have found you!

Yelp
Probably the best cantonese style restaurant in town. Yep, I said it. This is a small restaurant tucked into a center off of Bellaire and Wilcrest. There are maybe a maximum of two servers at any one time and it offers a nice cozy feeling. They have a nice selection of lunch specials on the weekdays and the portion sizes are quite nice. My go to is usually one of the many variations of fried rice (salted fish with chicken, chinese brocolli with sausage, etc.), chow fun with chinese brocolli and beef, or house special chow mein (topped with a mix of shrimp, chicken, fish, and veggies). If you want a dish to go with rice, try the salt and pepper squid. This comes with sauteed green onions and jalapenos. They also have a little area that serves fresh chinese bbq: roast pork, roast duck, and char sui. They make the roast pork in house and it is some of the very best in town. Super crispy and moist. Stop by on a weekday and take advantage of the lunch specials. You can try lots of dishes and won't break the bank.
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
Review is only for their roasted pork belly! Had to try their famous meat. Everyone raves of it online. Pork belly 5/5 Nice crisp on skin. Good crunch but not break your jaw. I'm a fat kind of person so I love the even layer of meat and fat. It was so juicy and not overly salty.

Jay L.

Yelp
Def a spot I will be avoiding. Before we even got our food they wanted us to pay so that they could shut down the cash register even though there was a hour before closing and other tables. Literally saw these people heating up our food in the microwave. Water in dirty cups aswell. Stay away. Disrespectful staff
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
How rude can you be to drop off the check less than 3 minutes after you dropped off the food. Just to say, "my cashier needs to close" even though it was about 30 minutes before closing. The attitude the waitress gave us just because we only ordered 1 thing. Water cup extremely dirty. Meat was tossed in the microwave and then given to us right in front of us. Roasted pork was salty. Waitress approached me with a receipt to question the tip. If you have an issue with working as a waitress at a restaurant that closes at 9, then please don't come to work. Find a new job.
google avatar

Love F.

Yelp
Do NOT eat here. Go elsewhere! Anywhere is better. I ordered takeout today. Two rice plates before my long drive home. One was a combo duck and roast pork plate and the a roast pork plate. Once I got home, i opened up the boxes, and they literally gave me scrap bone pieces for the duck and barely any roast pork. I attached the picture of the meat before I reheated it when i got home. They're more expensive than other places in chinatown too. I would definitely not recommend them. Completely NOT worth it!
google avatar

Diana L.

Yelp
This is a small, cozy Cantonese or Southern China flavored dishes. Serves many of my favorite comfort entrees commonly served at home. Food is very good! Very flavorful! Best roast pork! Have come here on the weekends and it is super popular & crowded. Highly recommend if you are looking the feeling of home1cooked comfort foods!

Dung N.

Yelp
The noodles is not very good! The bbq is ok but the sa siu is too dry ! The service too slow anyway

Jason H.

Yelp
The reviews were mixed so we decided to try this place anyway to see for ourselves. The restaurant gets loud easily. There were only two waitresses working during lunch and I had to go all the way to the back of the restaurant to get someone to seat me after about 5 minutes of standing around being ignored. One of the waitress was okay while the other was very rude and abrupt. She walked away a couple times before we could even finish a sentence. We ordered the char siu, roast pork belly, half a duck and garlic snow pea leaves. The char siu portion was surprisingly small. The pork was tender and juicy but too sweet for my liking. The skin on the pork belly was perfect but overall the pieces were too salty. The duck was not flavorful but the plum(?) sauce certainly helped. The snow pea leaves were slightly undercooked for my preference. Overall the food was average and the service was subpar.

Lilian T.

Yelp
Bad Service, doesn't care customers. We come this place couple time to buy a roasted pork, they ask me to Wait 20 min, I sit there and wait, after 20 mins I come and ask them again, they said no more, wait another 40 mins ok. What the hell!!!!!!!.
google avatar

Deborah L.

Yelp
We brought my parents here for dinner and it was a success. Expect amazing food, prepared Cantonese style. The crispy pork was juicy and addictive. It's a good thing we came for an early dinner because 30 min after we got it, they were sold out. The salt and pepper squid is a must have appetizer. Soy sauce noodles were a perfect salty carb with some cabbage mixed in. I really wanted to order the soft tofu dish with Japanese mushroom, but my mom preferred the fried tofu with shrimp and mixed veggies. It was satisfying and had a layer of thick sauce. The egg soup with seafood is also a great addition. I'd also recommend the crispy pork and any of their egg dishes.
google avatar

Jeannie W.

Yelp
Can't say I've ever been to this place physically but I've ordered delivery many times. Their roasted duck noodle soup is so flavorful and the meat is so fresh and not skimpy or fatty. Also ordered the roasted pork or lechon which this place is one of my 2 favorite places that serves it the best. So moist, clean cut, with that crispy skin. I will definitely have to try other things on the menu. Bok choy with shitaki mushrooms are yum. Soy chicken is moist and flavourful as well. You'll be missing out if you don't give this place a try!
google avatar

Linsie W.

Yelp
Food is authentic and full of flavor. Most of the wait staff don't speak the greatest English and that's how you know it's really good. I simply showed them pictures of what I wanted and they knew exactly what it was. Portions are generous as well! If you only want BBQ items, you can go to the back of the restaurant and order what you want by the pound.
google avatar

Bijou N.

Yelp
My friend said this was the best place to get duck in Houston so I was excited to try it. I don't know if Wing Kee lived up to the hype. They were out of duck when we arrived 1 hour after the opening time, but I was able to try my friends. I got the beef stir fry noodles which had great flavors. The service here was just a little off. They only provided 2 sets of silverware even after seeing that there were 6 of us, they ran out of a bunch of food super early.
google avatar

Jando S.

Yelp
Despite the strong community of Cantos in Houston, I've always felt the cuisine was underrepresented in one of the largest Chinatowns in the US. Wing Kee (新榮記) came onto the scene late last year and made some initial noise for their take simple take on Cantonese comfort food. The few times I've gone, it's been pretty empty. The ambiance isn't much to write home about but the layout is just right for small to medium sized groups. Items on the menu are listed in both Chinese, Vietnamese, and English, which is just right for the makeup in the area. Some photos would probably be helpful for first timers. Their lunch specials are a great way to start. For less than $6, one can choose a myriad of dishes ranging from beef and seafood options. The value is excellent and the portions are solid. Go slightly bigger with the house specials which are $6.25 and up. Food wise, they've gotten better over time. Initially they weren't doing the best job seasoning their food but they've managed to figure things out. The variety has gotten better as well, as they've expanded their menu and now offer a decent selection of Cantonese BBQ (#siuyuk). Their baked dishes over rice, roast duck + other canto roast meats, scrambled eggs with shrimp, beef brisket anything and fried rice dishes have yielded the best results so far. I haven't been so thrilled with their take on mapo tofu, many of their fried noodle dishes, blackbean clams, claypot rice, or soya chicken. Service has been good so far. Like the food, they've improved since the opening. Regarding their overall operation, I am hoping it's an upward trend from here.

Yelp
BBQ line is unorganized when they are busy. Seems like you get better service if you speak Chinese, this was the 2nd time I got cut in line because I didn't speak Chinese. Hate the service but the roasted pork is the best here.
google avatar

Vi C.

Yelp
The bbq duck and roast pork was really well done. Coming from California Bay Area it satisfied my craving. Service could use a bit of work.

Mandy A.

Yelp
Very typical and reliable! Can't go wrong. Roast pork doesn't disappoint but smaller in portion.

Yelp
One of the best kept secrets in Bellaire. It's a restaurant reminiscent of fufu's that serves cantonese-style food for very reasonable prices in a location with plenty of parking and no chaos. What more could you want? What we got: Beef with fried chow fun: This is probably the wrong name for it, but it's everything you could ask for and more. It looks like pancakes (see the photos) but once you take a bite, you realize that it's chow fun. What??? Anyways, a solid dish with great flavor Tofu with minced string beans/meat/goodness: I don't even know what this dish is called, but holy crap it's worth it. Silky tofu lightly fried accompanied by super flavorful veggies/meat. General Tso's Chicken: I know you look at this and probably want to stop reading. I had the same reaction when my buddy insisted we order this. But it was good. So good. Thin strips of white meat chicken nicely fried in an orange sauce. Winning recipe. Salted egg yolk spareribs: Salted yolk battered around healthy chunks of spareribs. Nicely flavored, not overpowering. Also a winner. String beans with minced beef/pork: Delicious flavor, definitely worth a try because we all need more veggies in our lives All the portions were huge. The waitstaff was super friendly. Come hungry, leave happy

Yelp
Great lunch specials that run 6 days a week (closed Tuesdays) and portions are good for the price. It is quite small and can get crowded at peak hours but its worth waiting for. The servers are friendly and informative, always nice and efficiently filling cups and rice! There's a rotation of complimentary daily soup with the specials too, which I appreciate. I've only been frequenting this place during lunch but definitely open to trying their dishes at dinner time. My favorite dishes here include the salt & pepper fried tofu or pork chops, fish filet with veggies in black bean sauce, salted fish fried rice, beef chow fun, house special chicken (chilled), and sweet and sour pork. I've never had a poor experience here and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic Cantonese Chinese food. The family feel of this establishment has won my heart! I'm tired of going to places that have subpar service but this place shows they care about food quality and customer satisfaction. Good job Wing Kee!

Yelp
Came here for lunch with some friends and had the opportunity to try lots of things. I liked the roast duck, jade tofu with mixed mushrooms, and crispy roasted pork the best. I'm not Cantonese so I can't speak to the authenticity of the food here but I looked around and saw many Asian grandmamas so I'm pretty sure this place is good. Service was quick and efficient. I can't wait to come back and try some more dishes!

Yelp
So found this little spot through a Facebook group I'm in. Win! Needed to try their roast pork. Word was it was super delicious and super crispy. And ...it was. They sell roast pork, duck, bbq pork by the pound. I did a little over a pound of the crispy pork and bbq pork. They also serve other stand Chinese foods like tofu, pork entrees, beef entrees, fried rice, noodle dishes, etc. Let me first say that skin on the roast pork was amazing. And there was a little bit of fat to offset the meat. If you have ever eaten roast pork, a little fat adds to the flavor. Def going back for more of this! Bbq pork was standard. They put a sauce on it that keeps it most and from drying out. I did appreciate the butcher and the way he cut the meats. Not sloppy and with purpose. I know this sounds weird but sometimes they just chop it without care, he cut the meat to where you got the best mixture. I also ordered the yang chow fried rice and beef chow fun. Both were ok, the beef chow fun was a bit bland. The beef on the chow fun was very tender tho. I added a little Sriracha and that made it aok. I definitely plan on going back to try a few other dishes I saw on the menu. And for more roast pork!

Yelp
Menu was pretty extensive... Highlight was the roasted pork. The meat was tender, but the top was crispy. It didn't have a ton of fatty meat like I see it elsewhere. It was really good. Haven't had it better anywhere else. I don't know the English name of the hua dan beef, but it's basically like eggdrop soup, but on rice. It was delicious. The fried rice was ok. I'm not a fan of lettuce in my friend rice though. Fried oysters we're bad...like all you could taste was oil. Chicken and corn soup was okay, but needed a little salt. We came in really late, but they didn't mind. Decent service and very clean for the end of a day. Based on the first two dishes alone, I would certainly back. I would never do a fried dish there though.
