The Wife Cake as a Symbol of Resistance During the Hong Kong Protests | Eater

"A prominent pastry maker counted among the trio credited with turning the neighborhood into a hub for handmade Cantonese pastries and wife cakes; part of a network of small, independent bakeries that maintain time-honored techniques and supply oven-warm pastries that tourists and locals alike seek out. Its presence helped sustain the district’s reputation for high-quality, traditional baked goods." - Vincent Leung

Google
Was in town for a week and this place scratched that itch for chinese food affordable price compared to other area Asian food. Employees super friendly and nice. Food was hot and made to order. Tasted great. Will come back when im in town

T.Kelly Williams

Google
This is not a fancy spot BUT, BUT, BUT...I refuse to buy Chinese cuisine anywhere else. The food is served hot and never tastes pre-made. I have had other locations in Boynton and regretted it on 1st taste. Here at Wing Wah, they are respectful and about their business. This I appreciate over super friendly serving trash. Sending the hubby there now! 🤗💯

Google
Ordered delivery, they didn't send what I ordered. When I called, the manager got on the phone and argued with me about what I ordered and offered me to come listen to my order. I told him to look at all of my other orders to see what I always order. He refused then hung up. The part of the review doesn't have what I usually order, Shrimp with Lobster sauce. I'll be looking for another Chinese place to order from.

Joel Glickman

Google
The beef in the broccoli beef was inedible. It was so tenderized it was like a sponge. I threw it all out. The kitchen looks like it hasn't been decluttered in years. If I knew what the place looked like inside before I ordered no would never have gone there. I don't see how anyone could rate this 3.8.

John Roth

Google
Was good clean food. But I have to agree with many reviews here about the fried rice could be much improved! Maybe take a trip out to Jersey or NY and learn how to make pork fried rice! Obviously you think it’s “good enough” though 😂

Bryan Leep

Google
Excellent variety as well as the standard fare expected of Chinese food. Very welcoming staff, prompt service and delivery, and prices on par for the cuisine. Highly recommended and the Honey Garlic Chicken and Beef Broccoli were outstanding as was everything else. Definitely recommend if your in the area.

Victoria

Google
I have had this delivered a couple times. It is the best Chinese food around. Very good beef lo mein. The food has been fresh and hot every time!

Beatrice M

Google
This was just bad, Will not be returning. Ordered sweet and sour chicken; had to take the coating off to make the chicken edible and side of chicken lo mein(the worst i ever had) no flavor. The best part was the broccoli and The spring roll wasn't cooked all the way through. Was very disappointing.

Yelp
Pork Fried Rice. GOOD. No qualms about purchasing a Large container of Fried Rice from this Restaurant whose reviews range from the BEST to the WORST with no in between. The Pork Fried Rice tasted like classic CHINESE Takeout. RECOMMEND.

Yelp
Food is awsome, delivery man is so sweet and nice. And I'm looking forward to dinner.... Yummy yummy

Frank P.

Yelp
It is probably was the worst meal I ever had since living in Boynton Beach. I ordered shrimp and lobster sauce to go. The shrimp looked like it had sat in the refrigerator for a few days. I got very sick after eating it.

Yelp
Perhaps in Hong Kong or Toronto, I would give this spot a 2 but starving for decent Cantonese, this wasn't bad. But be warned--don't bother ordering anything outside of the traditional canton wok lexicon. Don't go for Thai or anything else. Price is outrageous for whatever they're offering--the 10 dollar fried rice is very small (see photo). And large 15 chicken dish should be more like 6-8 dollars. Not sure how they're making money with pricing like this and portions this small but the flavor was good for a non-Asian area. Definitely not food court quality. Better than that. Without an Uber eats deal, I would never order from here again. Suggest they bring their prices back down to reality.

Victoria J.

Yelp
Pretty good for fast takeout food. Would definitely return. Not too pricey and good sized portions.

Ana F.

Yelp
I picked up an orderand it was incorrect when I called them the owner hung up on me twice. I told him I wanted to return the food and or get the correct order he hung up on me again Don't go there they are crooks

Yelp
Some of the best Chinese food south of Chinatown We just moved into the neighborhood and found Wing Wah. I was surprised at the amazing flavors from this little takeout restaurant. The ribs are fantastic, the best I've had in years. Get the jumbo pork fried rice or lo mein... it comes in a huge bucket!

Yelp
Not in the mood of cooking and craving affordable, VERY! affordable Chinese food? Wing Wah Express got you! This is probably my 4th time ordering takeout from this local place and I will keep coming for more! It is located hidden in a plaza on Congress Ave where Publix & a pizza place is. When you walk in it doesn't seem inviting, due to Covid they are not having sitting down tables and also picture menus in the wall look a little outdated. Guys that has nothing to do with the great flavor they provide and more important the staff and service always so friendly. I always order the House fried rice that includes chicken, pork, shrimp and beef, enough for like 3-4. My husband gets the sweet and sour chicken & lo mein. the portions are huge and plenty! So be careful when you order They have a full variety of noodles, appetizers and fried rice. It is nothing fancy but it makes a great staying in Friday night dinner.

Keri L.

Yelp
The Mai Fun was delicious. Also tried the sesame chicken, that was great too. I'm from out of town but ordered from WingWah a couple times already.
google avatar

Neerga G.

Yelp
The food is a hit or miss and overpriced! Definitely don't order if you've got your heart set on traditional Chinese food.

John L.

Yelp
ive never used yelp before not once but I got food from this restaurant overall the sesame chicken and rice was great but the soup with the dinner special was awful, It is taste like burn oil and I don't think anyone should have this displeasure. had to make a yelp for this one.

Thaimi J.

Yelp
Can you believe I found this in my food? Almost choked spit it up. Still had respect to tell the restaurant. I asked them for my money back and they told me. No I can only have Credit. Then they tell me oh it is probably something that came from the kitchen. Okay, but meanwhile, I almost choked myself. Thank God my son did not eat any of it and all I want is my money back and you're telling me No just credit this is insane.

Yelp
Finding a good Chinese spot is an absolute must for those lazy nights when you just want to kick back, watch a movie, and chow down. It's hard to find a good place because there are so many to choose from, but I will say this is my new go to spot. Menu is absolutely on point. They have dinner specials for around $10 that come with your choice of meat, rice, an egg roll AND a soup! You honestly can't beat that price. On top of a killer menu, they have great customer service. I placed my order via phone and she was quick and efficient. I picked up my order and was thrilled that I could actually SEE them in the kitchen cooking. This is big seller for me because I like knowing my food was prepared in a clean, sanitary environment. The staff was extremely friendly and I will be returning for sure.

Yelp
So I had the chicken pad Thai and a shrimp egg roll I ordered the food from Uber eats the shrimp egg roll taste really good it's fresh and hot even after I took a hot shower before I sat down to eat it. The pad Thai is disgusting they don't take the time to crush the peanuts just leave them whole halves the dish itself is tooo sweet more like candy yams the chicken pad Thai like maybe they poured too much brown sugar. I have never had pad Thai that taste so sweet as this one did. Ruined my dinner I couldn't Even eat the food I trashed it
google avatar

Daniel H.

Yelp
There really I've had way worse never really had any complaints and I eating here five years

Scott G.

Yelp
Went to restaurant and ordered dinner combo to take out for lunch. Opened the package to find no egg roll. Opened the meal to find no pork fried rice. Called up to convey what happened and they did not respond. First said they need to get a manager. Then I had to call back and they said that the manager may be in tonight. So they messed up the order completely. What I did get was a soupy entre, bland yellow rice and a watered down wonton soup. I should have read the other Yelp reviews before going in, but we were in the shopping center and thought to give it a try. Not only did they mess up a simple take out order, but the food is not good. There are many other Chinese restaurants in the area. Avoid this one.
google avatar

Chrissy C.

Yelp
Food was beyond bad and I never say this in a review. Rice tasted of bleach! Not authentic Chinese food in the least.
google avatar

Ken S.

Yelp
I had shrimp chow mein lunch special. Chow mein was cooked as I like it, however the "pork fried rice" that comes with it had virtually no pork. In their favor, they did allow me to substitute soup for soda or egg roll
google avatar

Debra A.

Yelp
We have been customers here for quite a long time and I might add , it's merely because this establishment is around the corner from our home. We've watched them go through different owners ...Prices have gone up like everything else but I'm sorry to say that the quality of their food has not been consistent. I never mind paying an extra charge but I do expect consistency and unfortunately they've fallen down in this area.
google avatar

Kayla B.

Yelp
I ordered for pickup over the phone and the people were nice. When I got there my food was neatly packed in a paper bag and ready to go. Quick service. I ordered House fired rice, pork egg rolls and Chicken wings. I read some mixed reviews on here so I was a little skeptical.....But everything was tasty. The rice was fresh, the chicken was crispy and not too greasy. The pork egg rolls were perfect. I plan to eat here again. Hope this was helpful.

Yelp
I don't understand why this place has an average low rating, I've read some reviews already. I usually only post when I have tired a place more than a few times to ensure my review is accurate to my knowledge or experience. Asian take out food is generally not all the same and if you think that you might want to re-think your food preferences, Wing Wah flavors and textures are different. If you are a foodie, you can feel and taste the difference and I have never been disappointed from this place. they always get my order perfect. ****The have the best HOT OIL! {Oh you never had it? How do you eat your Lo Mein with out this spicy indulgence? Oh, siracha? Ok that's level 1 on my spice scale... try asking for this next time to see if you love spice, don't do it if you think siracha is if you don't think it's spicy the first time you have it, it usually means it hasn't set in or it's freshly made, it needs time to saturate the oil with spice so try it again one more time before opting out of it in the future }**** The flavors are great and your umami experience is pleasantly perfect. The servings are plentiful. Out of ALL THE LOCAL- Asian places, this is the only place we order out take out from. Thank you Wing Wah, we love your flavors and I know you care about what you put out for your customers.

Yelp
Amazing food! I ordered orange chicken and it tasted great, cooked on point, with excellent flavor, and warm. honestly was a very good experience! I would definitely return.

Georgia B.

Yelp
I ordered Ma Po Tofu and spring rolls and they were really good. Fast service , pleasant people, looked clean and the food was hot when I received it. I would definitely return.

Yelp
We ordered from here via Uber eats since we haven't found a Chinese restaurant in West Boynton over these past six years that we like. After placing my order, I went to yelp and saw the mixed reviews which made me a little apprehensive about what we would get. So I'm writing this review to hopefully be helpful to other yelpers. We ordered shrimp pad Thai, shrimp lo-neon, shrimp mei fun, chicken and rice soup, sweet and sour chicken and crab rangoons. The four stars are coming from the execution of the shrimp dishes which alone I would give five stars. All three dishes were tasty and loaded with medium sized, perfectly cooked shrimp. The crab rangoons were good, not great, but better than average. The sweet and sour chicken was average. The chicken in the chicken and rice soup was gelatinous, which is what I have read in many of the chicken dish reviews. I would not order this again. So all in all, we will order from here again, shrimp dishes seem to be their strength and we love shrimp.

Yelp
Like a lot of other people in South Florida I'm a transplant. Nothing hits quite as hard as New York Chinese take out but this place comes close to tasting like home. You can tell everything is made with quality ingredients, and with care. I got veg lo-mein: the noodles weren't overdone as they tend to be at some other place locally. Good amount and nice variety of veggies. Wantons are typical, as is the wanton soup-- nothing to write home about but still a solid option. Overall I'm happy and will absolutely go back. Side note: I went to pick my order up and the place appeared clean and kept up well.

David C.

Yelp
This was my first time at this location. They were very accommodating and allowed me to dine in ( only one table available). Each meal was tasty and of great quantity. The price was very good as well, so I'll definitely order from them again.

Craig L.

Yelp
Food. Is good , I made the mistake of ordering thru Uper Eats What a error on my part I was charged also 15.00 more for just the food Plus delivery and service fee. Looks like I've been a fool and using Uper all the time , I just caught it yesterday Uper praying on people who can't get out!! Never again !

Baby G.

Yelp
The perfect plate. Yummy! This is my 100x ordering from this place. The food is amazing always fresh n hot.
google avatar

Shannon P.

Yelp
Ordered the sweet and sour chicken cheapest lunch in town except the food was less then desirable very plain. My order was togo

Michael D.

Yelp
David D says I have ben going there for 6 Years. Never had a bad meal yet Great service well prepared selections.

Florida G.

Yelp
No bueno. Avoid! They don't have the A/C on when it's 80 degrees out giving it a stale air quality, which can't possibly be good for sanitary purposes/food safety. In many, many years of Chinese takeout experience I've yet to come across a place that charges for extra condiments like duck sauce/soy sauce/mustard. And it's not even fresh...those little commercial packets. YELLOW RICE ALERT! What's with posing this as fried rice? It's not even close. All dishes lack flavor and sauce. Noodles aren't fresh. No need to return. Next!

Raphael S.

Yelp
If there was an option for zero stars I would have chosen that instead of 1 star. This was to be the first time we ordered from this restaurant. We placed an online order at 6;45pm for 3 dishes and a few sides. After placing the order I got a message that we could expect delivery within 45 minutes. After 1 hour when the food had not yet been delivered we called and were told that they were just starting the order. That was unacceptable to us. It was almost 8pm so we asked them to cancel the order. Five minutes later the manager called and said the order was ready and they would be delivering the order. We said forget the order. We canceled it and don't want it anymore. We already started preparing our own dinner. We're waiting to see if they charge our credit card. If they do we will dispute the charge.

Steve C.

Yelp
Great food. Great people. We are becoming regulars. How many more words do they want.

Robert B.

Yelp
Don't fall for the 3 stars, this is a 5 STAR CHINESE SPOT. Everything is very affordably priced without sacrificing quality. The eggplant and beef I ordered was way cheaper than the $15 many places charge. Everything was hot, delicious and made with attention to detail. Don't skip this place!
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
I love Wing Wah! A Chinese restaurant is pretty much the same anywhere you go but these guys have it down to a science... Besides the traditional stand-by menu, they offer several unique dishes. My favorite is the Wing Wah Pork... I'm not going to spoil the surprise but trust me you'll like it. The coolest thing though is they computerize everything, so next time you call they'll say "Hi Mike, last time you got the wing wah pork and lemon chicken, are you still at boynton drive?" Excellent service, NEVER a mistake yet. 5 stars

Ralph N.

Yelp
Very Good Chinese Take Out This is a reincarnation, by different owners (reopened in February 2019?), of a Chinese take-out. Tried several items on the menu. So far, the food has been reliably very good & competitively priced.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Food is delicious! Ordered the House Special Egg Foo Young Dinner Combo! The service was quick and friendly! The price was just right! Portion sizes are great: had enough to enjoy the next day! One of the best Egg Foo Young dishes I've had in a really long time!
google avatar

Denise E.

Yelp
This place is close to my house. I've been there in the past and was never overly impressed. But I just went again out of laziness and the food is so much improved. It felt much fresher. The sesame chicken wasn't drowning in sauce, the broccoli was really fresh and the rice was nice and soft (not semi crunchy like before). The krab Rangoon was fluffy and taasty. Much improved! Thank you.
google avatar

Tayler O.

Yelp
Ordered from here last night! The food was good and the portions were awesome. We got egg rolls and dumplings which were my favorite. I will say we did order the sesame chicken and general Tsos and totally couldn't tell which was which, but it's good that they both tasted great and we just shared the two meals.
google avatar

Ory P.

Yelp
This is the most horrible Chinese or any kind of food I've ever had. I'm lucky my sister and I didn't have to go to the hospital. We just threw the food in the garbage. I can't believe they're still open!!!
google avatar

Ketia F.

Yelp
Really great food!!! It didn't take long, very sweet and professional. Also very clean! I had the shrimp lo mein.
google avatar

Tori M.

Yelp
I love ordering from here, everyone is always professional and sweet. The food is delicious and it's a plus that the delivery driver is cute!

Joe I.

Yelp
Wing Wah has reopened. I know they had opened somewhere out west and had closed their east location. We were anxious to try it again. The place is spotlessly clean and very friendly. I asked about the west location and she didn't offer much. I said, "I guess it didn't work out"...speaking of which, we had stopped at House of Pang before coming here this PM. They were closed...hmmm? H of P has been here for 25 yrs or so.. Back to Wing Wah...food was good!..and we got two meals out of it.
google avatar

Lance D.

Yelp
Had two "chef's specials". Beef with Scallops and a dish with chicken and shrimp. Both were tasteless as if no seasoning was added. The chicken was actually tough and undercooked. The beef was so tough it was hard to chew. The few scallops were tasteless. My guess is we got new inexperienced chefs. Bill was $30 with two soups. Stick to combo dishes here like chow mein and moo goo gai pan. For $36 you can eat at Ginza in the same shopping center next to Publix. Food there is excellent. During the week dinner for 2 is $28. Avoid this place for anything more than combos.
google avatar

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
We were craving Chinese takeout tonight when we found this place. I'm none too impressed. I would swear the "fried rice" is actually just Spanish yellow rice in disguise. The Lo Mein was bland except for the undercooked onions. There were some positive aspects of our meal. The krab rangoons were great and didn't lack in filling. Their ribs were spot on and we were still hungry an hour afterwards. Overall it was decent but that fried rice was a tease and didn't satisfy my craving for it.
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
It was my first time and we decided to order at the restaurant. I've lived in south Florida for four years now and haven't found a decent place yet however, a friend recommended this place so I wanted to try it. I ordered sesame chicken and requested to have chicken fried rice with it. I wanted the dinner portion because it came with soup and an egg roll. The restaurant has a small area to sit and was clean so we stayed and ate there. The food came out packaged tightly and so hot I knew that if I ever ordered it for delivery, it would come fresh and hot. I really enjoyed everything I ordered. Food was very tasty. Will definitely be eating here again! Ps I'll give it five stars once I order delivery and see how that experience goes :).
google avatar

Jennifer F.

Yelp
I was really hoping for a new go to Chinese restaurant Boynton. New York style Chinese food check Great Yelp reviews check Delivery in my neighborhood check Why not try it out I thought to myself... The SO and I really decide on Chinese food based on how a place does double sauteed pork I know it seems like nominal criteria but I find that a place that does it well, everything else is above par This place is no exception... Lukewarm to bed double side tape pork Mongolian Beef that tasted like it was from yesterday and black bean shrimp with watery sauce. I was also disappointed in the delivery service where the delivery guy did not bring the food up to my door. I had a meeting downstairs in the front lobby which sort of the seats the purpose of me getting delivery in my pajamas. Another Chinese food place bites the dust I'll have to further my quest for the perfect double sauted pork.

Alexis D.

Yelp
This place is horrible! I would rather eat panda express! Smh, The rice taste like micro wave food.. And it was way over priced!
google avatar

Dan O.

Yelp
I rarely ever crave Chinese take-out and my buddy always says it's because I've probably never really had GREAT Chinese take-out. Well, now I have. Wing Wah has impressed me with its clean establishment, friendly staff, efficient service and extremely tasty food. I had the honey garlic chicken and could instantly taste the difference in quality between the chicken used here and other places I've been to in the past. The sauce was flavorful and delicious. I must say I enjoyed every bite, and I would normally never say that about other Chinese take-out. The power of the egg roll compels me... I give Wing Wah an easy 4 stars. It's simply the best place of its kind around here. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
