Melnificent Wingz Review - Pop-Up - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This LA chicken pop-up is “bringing the South to your mouth” with wings that are bathed in jerk sauce, baked with lemon pepper sprinkles, and made sweet and crispy like Korean dakgangjeong. It’s all being made by Melissa Cottingham, a private chef, restaurateur, and entrepreneur, who’s also known as Mel, “The Queen of Wings.” All orders must be placed in advance, so check their Instagram for the latest updates." - Kat Hong

Heard about this place from a grugwithgreg reel on Instagram. Looked good so I decided to give it a try. Ordered via Doordash. Maybe it was over hyped, but I was disappointed. I ordered the crispy fried egg rollz, big poppa shrimp, salt & pepper wings, pork banh mi, and pork vermicelli bowl. A lot of things to try. Egg rolls were crispy but the flavor wasn't anything special. I was expecting a lot more from the big poppa shrimp. Taste wasn't terrible, but it honestly looked like a fried mess. I also didn't receive the savory mac salad that the menu description stated it comes with. Salt & pepper wings were OK. While the sauce was pretty good, I think that perhaps the chicken wings themselves weren't the freshest because they seemed to have somewhat of an after taste? As for the banh mi and the pork vermicelli bowl, I'd say both were lacking compared to other places I've had. Probably the best thing about this ghost kitchen is the fact that if you are craving Vietnamese food later at night, they'd be open, compared to most Vietnamese restaurants, which close early.

Yelp
Buffalo Wings were mushy, too wet, really bad. Lemon pepper were slightly better, but over seasoned.

Yelp
First time ordering from a ghost kitchen and they have set the bar so high. My husband and I ordered the Bahn mi fries, a pork bahn mi sandwich and the crispy wonton spring rolls with the cilantro Parmesan sauce. Everything was insanely delicious and although our contact with the staff was very limited, they were friendly and efficient. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
Good portions and the staff is very friendly and accommodating! I got the tamarind wings which are a perfect combo of sweet and savory and sour. The banh mi fries were also stacked! Cannot recommend this place enough
