Winnie Superette

Winnie Superette is such a fun, well-curated spot to explore. Browsing the shelves feels like a treasure hunt, with snacks and pantry staples you won’t find in a typical grocery store. I especially love the selection of unique housewares, like beautiful Japanese ceramics. It’s also a fantastic place to put together thoughtful gift bags for friends and family.

Winnie Superette is a perfect example of why our little town is beloved around the region, state and beyond. The owner and is kind, generous and cares deeply about the community. Anyone that says otherwise might literally be crazy! 😁 The rest of the staff are wonderful as well. Not to mention, the shop is lovely! It's beautifully curated, there are things you can't get anywhere else in the area, and it is an absolute pleasure to walk through each and every visit. My family and I love Winnie and hope it's part of Nevada City forever. 💕

I'm thankful that Winnie Superette is here in our community, filling a real need, and doing it with style and heart. Beyond the well-curated selection of fine products that you can't find anywhere else locally, the customer service is always friendly and informed, and the shopping experience is seamless and smooth. The effort the owner has made to become a part of the downtown community of shops is admirable, doing things like hosting events, showing the work of local artists, and supporting local non-profits in their work to better our city and county. It was no surprise when they were recognized by the Chamber of Commerce as the Best New Business. Speaking as a longtime local, Winnie Superette is a model downtown business. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

My favorite place for stocking stuffers around the holidays and really great packaged coffee you can't get anywhere else. Winnie's Superette has been such a wonderful addition to our town. The entire staff is super friendly and the owner is always collaborating with local artists, chefs, and other businesses in the community to put on cooking demos, art shows and other fun events. And the mascot is the sweetest little pup in town! Five stars!

Winnie's a gem of a market in the heart of downtown Nevada City-- always stocked with hard-to-find goodies, especially for my sushi nights. Her sauces are really unique, and the sushi class Anne hosted was amazing. I even grabbed shiso seeds by the counter to grow at home.

I love Winnie's Superette. It’s one of my favorite stores in town. Ann is such a gracious and wonderful person, and that shows in her beautifully managed and artfully curated shop. I find all my Asian cooking essentials here, along with lots of little goodies and snacks. I’ll definitely be stopping by for stocking stuffers, that's for sure.

Out of all the Winnie Superette stores I’ve frequented, this is far and away the only one, and therefore, the very best! A less ridiculous way of saying that is - simply put - there is nowhere in the world like Winnie Superette! I’ve lived in or near the downtown Nevada City area for over three decades, and I work regularly as an actor at the neighboring businesses of Off Broadstreet Theater and The Nevada Theater. Before a show, when I need a fantastic savory snack, a heat-and-eat ramen bowl, a delicious Japanese candy that can’t be found anywhere else within 50 miles, or a recommendation for something new to me, all complete with outstanding and friendly Customer Service…this is the place I go. I know they’ll be around for a good long while yet, and I encourage you to take a trip to the historic “Chinese Quarter” of downtown Nevada City and see why, firsthand, this lovely establishment will thrive and delight for many, many years to come! 🫰🏻

An amazing addition to downtown Nevada City, with incredibly friendly and helpful staff and an excellent selection of Asian food you can’t find anywhere else in Nevada County. But this is not just a grocery store; it’s a community hub that hosts art shows, free community lunches, and other events that enrich our small town. This is an essential stop for locals and visitors!

Walking around, we happened at Winnie Superette. Lots of Asian snacks, food, and sauces. They also have cutesy things like these veggie shaped soy candles. Had to try these Ube flavored popcorn, very yummy. And my friend brought a loaf of local-made bread (Deer Creek Bakehouse). She thought it was okay, but may come back to try their sourdough. Clean and pleasant ambiance. Nice service. Located on Commercial and York.

Winnie Superette is one of my favorite places to shop!!! Ever! A darling little Asian market with cute lil snacks, tchotchkes, strange and delightful treats, a brilliant array of beverages in the cold case I can't find anywhere else, cook books, art prints, incense matches - I could go on forever!! I'm always pleasantly surprised by what ends up in my shopping basket - fresh Mochi??? Sure!!! It's the perfect place for last minute birthday gifts, too. I'm always met with kindness and lovely conversation by whoever is working behind the counter - I seriously love this place and as a local I'm really grateful we have it in this town. I never get tired of dropping in and wandering around like a kid in a candy store. Five million stars!!!

1/18/2025: Okay-we arrived in Nevada City CA--first order of business is an imperative priority, i.e., must splurge buying mochi and a delicious libation called, Calamansi H2O which was egregiously expensive! Aside, the two Customer Service Employees were cool and very informative.

A nice little store that has just about all the Asian food staples that you need to prepare a delicious meal, since there are no Asian markets close by. Love this place.

This place has such a great selection! Everything from snacks, condiments, drinks in the cold case to frozen dinner selections and desserts. You are sure to find something good here for yourself or a gift.
