This location is almost unbeatable except for parking. It can be a bit annoying. This lot feels very quickly, and there is a valet, but there are limited self parking spots. However, the first two hours are free with validation so if you can find a spot it will be free. Inside there are tables, but it’s more of it to go type of place that serves full and pie slices. They also have mini pies in all different sizes and shapes. They have a rotating seasonal flavor menu as well as some main stays. The service was actually very polite and quick when we arrived and we are the only ones in during our visit. It is a bit expensive for pie, but given that this is something I don’t get often I would still recommend it pricewise. I will say that is not my favorite pie that I’ve had in Los Angeles nor is it as good as my girlfriend‘s homemade but it is still very nice. The strawberry cheesecake and the cherry pie were both very good, although not my favorites. I like how you can get a slice of pie instead of a whole so for that reason, it is a great option and I would recommend.

Google
First time getting pies from here and it was very disappointing. I got a cherry and apple pie. The pies tasted like they were leftovers from the week before. They were very dry and filings were not cooked properly. For $12 a pie, it was very basic and overpriced.

Google
Ordinarily I love Winston’s apple pies. I usually get the personal size. The crust is always my favorite part. However for Thanksgiving I ordered a whole pie. Spending more than $60 on a pie is not my usual but I don’t mind paying for what I enjoy and I wanted to share my experience with others. The pie however was total apple sauce on the inside. I know what being overwhelmed during the holiday season is normal for bakeries and perhaps the apples weren’t cooked and turned in the pot enough and clearly cooked way too long, but the pie was a major disappointment after how I raved about it. The bottom crust was soggy and falling apart. Most of the people didn’t finish their slice, including myself. Very disappointing.

Google
I really like the cherry pie but the whipped cream pie was a rip off. You really need to step up the variety. For the price and the location, you really need to be more competitive about what you offer. It's so ordinary. It's more exciting to go to Marie Callenders because they have not to offer. Please step it up and have more interesting flavors to stay relevant.

Google
Can’t tell you how they taste because I never tried them. Walked into the store and then walked right out after taking a few photos. I can’t justify paying so much for pie! Sorry.

Google
I love a good pie- but Winston’s pies are just not very good. The cherry pie was just cherries sitting in an over baked crust. No flavor at all. The slice of pie is nearly 10 bucks so you hope it will be good- but it was tasteless. Here’s an idea- if you don’t have decent, ripe fruit- don’t make a pie out of it or at least add something to the fruit to enhance the flavor. We literally threw the pie away- not worth the calories! The pecan pie was better, but the slice they gave us was so small and it was falling apart. It was 1/2 the size of the cherry slice- even though it was the same price. I will not be going back to Winston’s. Total waste of money & calories.

Google
The strawberry rhubarb pie a la mode was the best I've ever had. Immaculate, down-right spotless atmosphere, albeit somewhat sparse and clinical. As outstanding as the pies, the service is impeccable. Courteous, gracious, attentive and prompt; the ladies who assisted us on this Sunday afternoon were the very definition of hospitable and inviting. Five stars ain't enough.

Google
Great team here. Very tasty pies. Definitely on the pricey side, but in my experience, they value your satisfaction and if a pie isn’t to your liking, they’ll fix it. 👍🏽

Yelp
Got two apple pies, one for me, one for a neighbor. Didn't bother to look at the price. $120 for two pies. So ok, the pie is really really good, the crust is rather amazing, the apples are very cooked and nice and gooey. But $60 for a pie? Is this what we've come to? To answer my own question, yes, this is what we've come to. Have always enjoyed Marie Callendar's pies (they're closing all stores now, so whatever) but in comparison with Winston pies, MC is a fast-food substitute. The apple pie was quite quite quite good. But there wasn't enough cinnamon. I think for $60/pie I need more cinnamon.

Yelp
Service: eh. Nothing welcoming but nothing news worthy. Pros: nice location Cons: $8 for a small slice of pie, $59 for an entire pie (small/medium size). Note: costs are without ice cream or whip cream. Lastly, the pie didn't knock my socks off. The ones we tried weren't great at all. Mediocre at best. I couldn't even finish each slice, even knowing the price we paid. If you're going to try to rip people off with food prices, at least make it good/memorable. Pass! I'll stick to making my own pies or buying frozen from a reputable brand! Less money and will taste 20x better.

Yelp
I wish I never found this place. It is soooooooo damn good. Most important is that one of my kids has gluten issues so finding a good gluten free pie is not too easy. I have now had two gluten free pies from Winston that were each so different from the other and they were better than any pie I have had gluten or gluten free (except for a specific peach pie pie that was from a place that went out of business over a decade ago).

Yelp
I had one of their seasonal pies it was the strawberries mascarpone pie, it tasted like the Oui Yogurt honestly. Nothing quite special about it, I won't dodge it more stars because I do feel like I could try different flavors that might be better. But I don't recommend this flavor in particular, unless you really like yogurt ahah and want it in a pie. Overall the space was also pretty small so it's more of a pick up and go place. They have one small table outside but other than that there's no seating

Yelp
This pie shop opened up in the marina and I had to try it out. I got it during thanksgiving and they have a great system of ordering when it comes to this holiday season. You need to place your order in advance and you'll have a set pick up time. Make sure to order well in advance because they do sell out! I got the pecan pie and it tasted great, but I don't think I would order again because of the steep price. It was around $60 for a whole pie and my family did enjoy it, but it is quite steep price for 1 pie. The inside of the location is spacious and they also serve ice cream but not many seats to sit inside.

Yelp
I love the idea of a pie shop and one opening up on the west side was exciting because there seems to have been a dearth of pie places. I mean how often can you go to a place that specializes in pies without trying to breach the gauntlet of central LA traffic? The shop setup is minimal and clean, a long display case & counter, no seating. The ladies behind the counter were friendly & helpful in explaining what some of the pie names were. Most pies are sold as whole (eye-wateringly expensive), by slice (more wallet-friendly) or as a mini (a bit more expensive but palatable). We decided on a slice of mixed berry, and two mini-pies: a chocolate cowgirl (sorta like a fudgey brownie) & key west lime. All of these pies were good. Not great, but good. The filling of the chocolate was quite dense, perfect for a few bites to tame the sweet tooth, and lasted several days. The mixed berry seemed to be blueberries and raspberries tossed with molasses and baked with a rolled oat crumble on top. This was a pie difficult to eat. The raspberries left a tremendous amount of seeds and the oats were extremely tough leading to a lot of aching teeth and scrapes to the roof of my mouth. It's a nice concept, adding whole oats to a pie (they made an appearance in the cowgirl as well) but practically speaking it was a misfire. I'd suggest using a seedless raspberry jam with whole blueberries next time and go easy on the molasses as it's taste was notable and a bit off putting in spots. And for the sake of soft palate find a way to soften those oats! They're like the equivalent of crust shrapnel. The standout here by far was the key lime. A rich custard with a strong citrus tang and in a mouth-friendly traditional graham cracker crumb crust. The success of that makes me want to come back and try the pumpkin which has a similar build. Selling pies in this neighborhood (at a price point which reflects what is no doubt an outrageously high rent) is a bold choice and you'd better be making some high-end product if you hope to keep afloat in this economy. My impression is they are still finding their footing but I am excited to see what else the nice ladies will create here. Welcome to the neighborhood, Wilson Pies!

Yelp
I've tried a few of their pie slices and each one was so good! If you're a chocolate lover, I definitely recommend the chocolate cowgirl pie. It's so decadent, rich, and fudgy. Their Milky Way pie is also delicious and tastes just like the candy bar and their key lime pie is one of my favorites.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Pies were okay but not great. Key lime pie was very tart and not enjoyable to eat. Strawberry pie was good but nothing special. But the chocolate pie was good! The service was okay. The staff seemed annoyed and were very dismissive.

Sooz Z.

Yelp
I tried 3 pies here - Harvest Apple, Chocolate Cowgirl, and Milky Way. I'd give 2 stars for the Apple and Milky Way pies, but 5 stars for the Cowgirl Pie! The apple pie was super bland - just no flavor at all, tasted like apple pie filing from a can. The crust was flaky and buttery and stood up well, but it felt like a lot of wasted calories for such little flavor impact. The Milky Way pie was too sweet and a bit dull in complexity, even for a sweet tooth, but beyond that it wasn't well-designed: the caramel layer on top is too thick and hard, so when you try to slice through it with your fork, the bottom layer of the pie squirts out onto the plate and it's hard to get all the layers in one bite. It was annoying to eat. The Cowgirl pie is DELICIOUS! and I would definitely come back for that. I loved the flavor - powerful chocolate and perfectly-tuned salt and caramel. The crust is awesome and very unique - it's an oat blend rather than a crumb blend. It was wonderful!

Yelp
Absolutely, hands down, the best cherry pie I have ever had!!!!! Scrumptious!! The biggest fattest cherries in the most crispy and flaky homemade pie crust!!! Thank you Matt Kimble!!!

Shirin B.

Yelp
Came here to learn that this is their second location now in the Marina, their first is in Brentwood. They have a couple of options for pies including hand pies, pies by the slice, small sized pies, and whole pies. I ordered the small sized key lime pie and it was pretty good. We also got free coffee samples which paired with the pie well! It's slightly expensive though, I paid about $14 for a small sized pie but for taste and quality it might be worth it for some.

Yelp
I recently visited Winston's Pie and they were absolutely delicious! The ladies operating the shop were also patient with my indecisiveness. The shop does feel a bit large for the few pies there but it was quiet and near the marina (perfect for eating pie and catching those sunset views). I highly recommend the chocolate cowgirl! Winston's nails the description: Rich responsibly-sourced Ecuadorian chocolate. Handmade fresh caramel. Salty oatmeal crust. Fudge-like texture with just the right amount of sweetness. A chocolate-lover's dream!

Yelp
I came here by chance, happened to walk by right around when they first opened, and I love pie. I just tried the individual sized Apple pie and while I love the concept, it underwhelmed. The flavor of the pie was quite nice but it was a bit dry and didn't make me want more (and I always want more pie). I think I'll try this place one more time because I love the concept but it's also very expensive to not hit a home run every time.

Yelp
Really good pie but Santa Monica prices. I think it was $9 for a slice of cherry, which was delicious. Appreciate the staff's help choosing a flavor since they all looked good. I just can't see myself paying that much again.
google avatar

Steven G.

Yelp
Decent pies but pretty terrible service. Staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful when ordering. Wasn't quite bad enough to leave a negative review until they gave us the wrong pie and then refused to make things right afterwards.

Kip M.

Yelp
Sometimes gluten-free pie crusts can be hard - like cardboard. However, the Winston pecan pie was the best we've ever enjoyed whether with a gluten-free or regular crust!
google avatar

Stacey W.

Yelp
The pie is very good especially the pie bites!! I must say my first time coming here one of the girls working was so bothered to answer any questions it's was really off putting. I almost walked out. I returned a second time with my family hoping for a better experience and the two women working this time were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
THE. BEST. PIES!! The staff gave great recommendations when picking a pie and I was left wanting to take them all. Don't go to Polly's pies, Marie calendars, Costco or wherever you get your pies from. This is the only place you need. Deff coming back and getting the Father's Day banana pie! Can't wait. Thanks for the great coconut macaron pie. Everyone loved it. Anyways if you're still readying go get a friggin pie

Yelp
I've had the pleasure of experiencing Winston Pies at Marina Del Rey, and it's been nothing short of a delight. The pies are not just delicious, but ideal for sharing amongst a group of 5-10 people. Every flavor we've sampled has exceeded expectations, with special nods to the apple and chocolate cowgirl. The real game-changer, though, is undoubtedly the pie bites. Oh my goodness... These bite-sized wonders are truly next level good. My only constructive feedback would be to expanding the flavor options as there are only 4 currently. I will give a big A+ to the employees. One specific lady always seems to serves us and has one of the best attitudes and energy. I wish I could remember her name but shoutout to her. Always welcoming and it's a bit nice. Overall, easy 5 stars. Recommendations Pie Bites - Any Flavor Hand Pies - Any Flavor

Yelp
I am not a big pie guy, I mean I do like and eat pies, but I am very selective on which ones I eat. We stopped here last month for some dessert. It looked like an interesting place, so I got some Lemon Marang Pie with thick granola crust, and my girl I guess wanted to apple pie. My first time ever coming here. I was recommended through a coworker. Pies are delicious. They a whole bunch of different flavors. They are now expensive either. I hope the Lord we can come back again.

Yelp
Stopped after dinner for a quick look see. Staff was friendly and displays looked nice. Grabbed a slice of key lime pie to go and it was delicious. Would definitely go back.

Constance W.

Yelp
We live in Manhattan Beach and I had never heard of Winston pies. We wanted to check them out. I am from North Carolina and pies are part of my heritage!! We got the strawberry rhubarb and coconut pies. Coconut was a slice, and the cherry rhubarb was a mini pie. WAY too many oats on top of the strawberry rhubarb, there's actually very little filling. Coconut had WAY too much coconut and also had chocolate, which I was never informed. if I had been allergic to chocolate, that could've been a serious problem! Staffed seemed a bit annoyed that we were asking about the flavors... Doubtful I will ever go back, especially from this experience and the price. Marie Callendars, you got this!
google avatar

Yelp
I wanted to love this place. I really did. The decor is adorable, the location is close to home, their packaging is sophisticated. On paper Winston has everything going for it. On different occasions I've tried their berry pie, apple pie and most recently the pumpkin pie. All of them lacked the pizzazz I need in a dessert. My husband has tried several of their pies and felt the same way with the exception of the pecan pie which he said was good. Try it yourself - maybe you'll have a different experience.

Maryanne O.

Yelp
Wow I think the strawberry mascarpone pie is the best pie I have ever had. Worth the price 100%
google avatar

Karen H.

Yelp
So far so Great. The crust varies per the pie you choose... the Cherry pie is beaaaaaauuuuuuuuutiful w whole plump sweet cherries and a crunchy crust. the pecan pie oozes of the sweet honey custard residue and it's nutty w/ that chewy baked-up jelly not he underside... it's delicious. I still have a key lime pie to attack which by miracle hasn't disappear yet. I trust it's delicious too,

Chloe M.

Yelp
Pie was Meh. Not refrigerated/ fresh tasting and the crust was just oat? Very slow vibe in Winston Pies, so probably good to give them some business but be wary of the pie you order. Service was mid.

Yelp
Review from a Pie Nerd: I'm writing sooner than I would normally -- I have only had their cherry pie -- because I'm surprised by some of these reviews. Yelp can fairly or unfairly help or hurt small businesses, and in my opinion, two of these reviews are unreasonably skewing Winston's stars since they are a new business without a lot of reviews. My creds: Pie is one of my favorite desserts. I have worked as a pastry chef, have taken pie classes from some amazing pie experts, and have read most of the pie books out there, along with baking more than a few. Yes, a total pie nerd! Here, you get what you pay for - quality ingredients, well-prepared. I usually don't finish pie crusts, I go by "is this one worth the calories?" Their cherry pie's crust was. To me, the texture/consistency and flavor of the filling were lovely. I found the service helpful and warm, and the shop clean and pretty. I don't know that I'd place them in my number one pie spot, but again, I won't have a full opinion til I've tried more than that one slice, but they're looking likely to be in my top ten. That's a big compliment from me. The two reviewers who criticized the flavor and price - I suspect artisanal pie just isn't their thing. Which is cool; it's a big pie world. Personally, I do like artisanal pie, and I look forward to trying more of Winston's. Side note: I'm also impressed by the graciousness of Winston's response to what came off to me as unreasonably critical reviews. Well done!

Yelp
Usually buy our pies in Brentwood, but we were in the MDR area, & stopped by. I love Winston's apple pie (& always get it), while my 19 yr. old kiddo tried the cherry pie for the 1st time. They liked it! We had a little problem with the credit card system needing an update, but the Winston's employee was super nice & we weren't in a rush. I mean, we're buying yummy pies! Don't forget to order ahead for the upcoming holiday season. They sell out!

Yelp
We enjoyed sm keylime pie, bite size pies (one of each) and the lemonade! Service was top notch!

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place by accident. I absolutely LOVE pie and was excited to give them a try. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. I ordered a slice of apple pie. The presentation with their little package was very cute. I brought the pie home and had a couple of bites. I was very disappointed! It was mush on top of mush. For a PIE SHOP especially at their price point I expected to be pleasantly pleased and was not. I've had way better pie from local farmer markets. Because of my love of pie I may give them another try.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. We just had the cookie dough pie. So good. Will definitely back for more.
google avatar

Melanie J.

Yelp
I got a key lime pie for a friends birthday and it was absolute hit! I think the single slices are a bit pricey but the full pies easily served 12 with leftovers! And they are so rich and dense and delicious. Definitely worth the big pies!

Mike O.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of pies so was I excited to try out Winston's which is located down the street from me in MDR. I brought my mom who had the key lime and I got the cherry. I was shocked by the high prices, but bought the mini-pies anyway figuring they must be really good. We brought them home for desert that night. As another reviewer said, I also found the crust to be heavy, dry and hard to cut through. The filling in the cheery pie was flavorless...almost like they forgot to add sugar when they made it. My mom said the key lime had a weird aftertaste. Both pies seemed stale... like they'd been made a week ago or longer. Disappointing, especially at the very high price point.
google avatar

Marty W.

Yelp
Ordered a slice of apple pie. The slice itself looked good. It wasn't the apple corn syrup mix you usually find stuffed in pies nowadays. The crust seemed flaky...good, but covered with sugar, bad. The reason behind the low stars is the size of the slice was small and was less than and inch and a half high. The pie tasted very good though. What little they give you, they want $8.50 for...of course that's before they ask for a "tip" at checkout. For 8.50 I can make my own pie. Seems like you get very little value. If they wanted business they should probably sell their slices for 4 or 5 dollars. That way they could get repeat biz.
google avatar

Tarik H.

Yelp
Loved the cherry pie and glad that it's not overly sweet. Also, appreciate that it had whole cherries in them and the flavor was not ruined by mainly sauce, opposite of what another reviewer noted.

Kirsten K.

Yelp
Wanted to love this place, but I don't ever have to have this pie again. I tried the cherry pie and the mixed berry crumble pie, and both were bad, unfortunately. The crust was heavy and chewy and hard to cut through. The cherry filling had not been cooked down nor did it have any 'sauce' inside - it was basically whole partially cooked cherries and that was it. The mixed berry pie also had a tough crust, and the crumble topping and berry filling were somehow both flavorless. And, the selection was very limited with only basic flavors to choose from. I love pie, so this made me sad.
google avatar

Zissis M.

Yelp
Got 5 slices of pie and a cold brew and had an exquisite time at this local establishment

Yvette T.

Yelp
Love the pies! Can't go working with Chocolate Cowgirl - Yummy! The girls in the shop are happy to help. The set up is very clean and simple elegance.
google avatar

Christine N.

Yelp
Yummy! I tried the Apple crumble and added vanilla cream. It looked so good, I ate it right there at the restaurant inside supermarket.

John L.

Yelp
Staff super friendly and helpful!!! Pies were average. Definitely not worth the price

Dawn C.

Yelp
Tasty key lime pie, good portion size for the mini pies. Friendly and helpful staff I will go back here.

Cinnamon F.

Yelp
Such delicious pies! We got the cowgirl and cranberry chess slices and highly recommend. There is no indoor seating or restrooms fyi. The location is so beautiful too it makes you happy to go in.

Carole L.

Yelp
Had cherry pie. Great fruit. Not too sweet. Just right. Nice flaky crust. Family got key lime, apple, pecan. Everyone loved their choice.
