One of LA’s Best Pie Shops Scores a Big, Sunny New Santa Monica Home - Eater LA

"Winston Pies has secured a new location in Santa Monica, with plans to formalize its new facility on Ocean Avenue sometime in early March. Owner Brianna Abrams’ popular pie shop, which first opened in Brentwood in 2017 before expanding to West Third Street, is taking over the long-dormant former Joan’s on Third offshoot at 1705 Ocean Avenue, and will use the much larger facility to expand its customer base and delivery range, and to greatly grow its production volume and nationwide shipping. 'The little Brentwood kitchen and prep space just couldn’t handle the orders,' Abrams tells Eater by email. 'The new kitchen has so much more space and oven capacity, and it happens that this beautiful kitchen also has a fantastic front area for pick up and to-go.' We wanted to check out this new local pie shop! This location is for Take Out/ Pick UP only! Parking is difficult on Ocean and also on Olympic. We found metered parking along Main Street near Starbucks. The pies are made daily and we arrived around 5pm so the selection was limited. The staff was very nice and patient when asked about each pie. We bought 3 of the smaller pies, $10-12) to try and one hand held pie for $5 and a bit for $2. No orders taken over the phone ( per their website) , however, one can order through Uber Eats or Doordash.

My chocolate cowgirl pie was rich and delicious, and my husband loved his strawberry rhubarb pie. Service was great and it wasn’t busy. The only reason I left a star off is because the restaurant itself could really use some cute decor and seating. The location is great but there is nowhere to sit and they use the whole place to store packing and kitchen supplies. Doesn’t make for an outstanding experience, but the pie was really delicious.

We got the cherry pie. Crust was phenomenal, flaky, substantive, chewy (in a good way), but not dry. And the filling as delicious, sweet (but not too sweet), and the cherries still held their shape/structure a bit, which made them really fun to chew. All around great pie. Can’t wait to return.
