⭐☆☆☆☆ Deeply Disappointed and Insulted Experience
I drove all the way from New Jersey to Massachusetts while on a work trip, and made it a point to visit this Portuguese bakery. My grandparents were Portuguese, and growing up they would always bring home linguiça and Portuguese cheese from their trips to Portugal — I haven’t had those flavors in over 20 years, so this visit meant a lot to me.
Unfortunately, I have never been treated so poorly in my life. When I went to pay, I was told they only accept cash — which would’ve been fine had it been listed anywhere on their website or signage (it wasn’t). What truly upset me wasn’t their cash-only policy, but the way I was spoken to. Rather than politely explaining or offering a solution, the woman behind the counter spoke to me with complete disregard, as if I were a burden or a thief. She coldly told me to “go to the bank,” with no empathy or basic courtesy, even after I explained that I had driven over an hour to find a Portuguese bakery that reminded me of home.
It was a humiliating and disheartening experience. For a place that represents Portuguese tradition — something that should feel warm, proud, and welcoming — I left feeling the exact opposite.
I hope the owners read this and realize that kindness and hospitality cost nothing, and that every customer who walks through the door has a story.
