"This 16th-century former farmhouse sits in a sleepy village close to the Humber Estuary. It’s an area rich in agriculture, so it’s no surprise to find local ingredients to the fore on the surprise tasting menu, be they from regional producers, nearby farms or the long-standing owners’ smallholding where they rear animals and grow veg. The chef's personality shines through in the full-flavoured dishes, from nods to his Yorkshire roots to refined takes on his favourite foods, like chicken tacos and lamb kebab. Sumptuous bedrooms mix classic character with modern comforts." - Michelin Inspector

All Change Please

"Perhaps the ultimate reinvention, Colin McGurran, long-standing chef-owner of Michelin-Starred Winteringham Fields, has left the restaurant and gone on an around the world sailing adventure with his wife and three daughters. Although it might seem like a severe reaction to the pandemic, the family actually set off last May, leaving the restaurant in the capable hands of head chef Gareth Bartram. Chef Colin hopes that his trip will inspire creativity as he experiences new cooking from different cultures." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

Opinion: How Asia influences global gastronomy - SilverKris

"Led by chef Colin McGurran, this Michelin-starred United Kingdom restaurant showcases inventive seafood — notably a lobster dish presented in a fragrant laksa broth with pickled beetroot and finished with a tangy orange juice gel, combining meaty shellfish with Southeast Asian aromatics." - Charlene Fang

**Review of Winteringham Fields** Winteringham Fields has long been a favourite of ours, cherished for its intimate ambiance, exceptional staff, and the unforgettable culinary experiences it provided. After a few years away, we returned, eagerly anticipating a return to its previous splendour. Sadly, our experience this time left us rather disappointed. Upon entering the dining room, it was immediately apparent that the restaurant has undergone some changes, and not all for the better. The once cosy and inviting atmosphere has been replaced by a more commercial feel. There are now more tables, and the lighting is much brighter, stripping away the warmth that used to make the place feel special. The sound from the open kitchen, once a subtle background hum, now added a constant buzz that was hard to ignore. The service, which had been one of the restaurant's standout features, also seems to have lost its magic. Previously, the staff were incredibly discreet and professional, appearing only when needed, making the experience feel seamless and personal. This time, however, the staff seemed overly present, constantly circulating and distracting from the otherwise refined atmosphere. As for the food, while it was certainly enjoyable, it failed to deliver the "WOW" factor we had come to expect from Winteringham Fields. The dishes were well-executed, but they didn't leave the lasting impression that we remembered from past visits. We also opted for a different glass of wine with each course, only to be shocked by the hefty £240 charge for the wine pairing when the bill arrived. While we appreciated the sommelier’s selection, we were surprised not to have been informed of the price beforehand, especially considering the steep overall cost of the meal, which came to around £640 for two people. In the end, the experience felt more like any other high-end restaurant rather than the unique, memorable outing we had once enjoyed here. It's a shame, as Winteringham Fields had once been a special place, but given the changes and the price tag, it’s not an experience we will be rushing to repeat.

Couldn't fault the food. What an experience to have with my partner. From start to finish the whole menu was not disappearing. We came away from the place feeling we had the right amount. The service was immaculate and the atmosphere was perfect for a great evening.

I would like to give a big shout out to the wonderful staff of Winteringham fields for making my birthday an extra special one. We were a group of 6 ( one pescetarian) and enjoyed a taster menu with wine pairing. As we live in France we really enjoyed and appreciated the interesting wine menu which included wines from Morocco, Switzerland and Slovakia. The food was outstanding and original the presentation was only topped by the interestingly intense flavours.. It is hard to pick a favourite dish, the fish course was particularly good as it was cooked to perfection. The scallops and the tomato dish were also delicious and loved by all.As a keen cook I particularly appreciated the attention to detail and culinary magic.😁 The professional staff were both welcoming and friendly which made us feel relaxed and at home. This was refreshing as often in this calibre of restaurant we have found the staff to be quite aloof if not a bit snoozy. It's a shame there is only a 5 star option as I would give more.😁. The rooms are very comfortable and the gardens immaculate. We stayed only one night but the village itself looked very nice and it would be nice to explore more on our next visit.

We have been a few times but their new layout in the dining room is fantastic. The menu was brilliant, wonderful flavours. A must visit.

The negatives: we stayed in the Boteler Suite which was quite dated. It was also not particularly clean- massive well formed spiders webbs on the coffee table. In the evening before dinner there was no hot water so we ended up having to have a cold shower. We were given a glass of fizz as an apology for this. . At night the room was incredibly hot as there are no windows (and you can't leave the door open as it's ground floor and leads to the car park). No fan or AC in the room. Positives: the food in the evening was really good and well deserving of the michelin *. Sommelier was excellent and we really enjoyed the wines. Overall would recommend the restaurant, but would suggest staying somewhere else.

Dined there with friends but did not stay in the accommodation. Friends first visit and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Yelp
Undoubtedly the finest prestigious dining experience in the North of England and quite possibly one of the best in the UK?! Does Yelp have a UK top ten list? Truly I hardly know where to begin with this place. Let's just start by saying this is possibly the finest dining experience I have ever had and I have had some amazing fine dining experiences all over the world. It is truly special, from the moment you walk in the door you are made to feel like you are the only diner. The service is impeccable, the waiters are so knowledgeable and clearly very thoroughly trained. This is by far more superior than any eatery in the UK I have visited. We were booked on the nine course tasting menu, with a free gorgeous room thrown in per couple, and seriously you will want to stay over. The food was to die for and included beautifully presented Oysters and foie gras which of themselves gives you an idea of the standard you can expect here. Each course came with a preselected wine flight which was great to force you into stepping into another world of wines you might not ordinarily try. We were told that the video cameras in the dining room angle directly over the tables is, rather than keeping a big brother eye over your behaviour, so that the chef can get the timing of the courses appropriately just perfect. And so they were. After dinner we had tea and coffee and then sipped Champagne by the fire until the very small hours of the morning. The only tiny issue I really have to force myself to look for is being off the beaten path but then they've got that covered with their cosy opulent rooms and walking maps of a truly beautiful part of the world. It felt like a holiday not just a Friday night out so why wouldn't you indulge? This place needs a ten star rating option, I literally felt like a princess! Congratulations Winteringham Fields, I think I've fallen a little bit in love with you...

Yelp
Being Michelin starred and rated as the 4th best restaurant in the country you won't be surprised when you are greeted in the car park. Recently televised on Gordon Ramsey's best restaurants it certainly deserves a visit. It is without doubt a place to visit for that special occasion, we had the taster menu which allows the chef to select all your courses, and you won't be disappointed in his selections. The food is locally sourced and seasonal and as such you will be offered one of the most memorable evenings for a long time to come. You need book here but if you want spoiling at a price, make it one of your 40 things to before you die.

Yelp
While unarguable off the beaten path of tourists, this place is worth a half day drive or more to experience. Spend the night & dine in luxury, dinner and on thru b'fast. $$$$ but accept it - it is money well spent. A truly outstanding experience.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing restaurant. Winteringham fields probably the most prestigious restaurants in North Lincolnshire with a reputation that certainly preceedes it. Whilst you pay top money to dine here the food and the service is five star. I have had the christmas evening menu here and also the summer lunchtime menu, and i would recommend both. The menus include the chefs pre-starter as well as refresher dishes inbetween meals, expect to leave the restaurant absolutely stuffed. I would also recommend having coffee and petit fours at the end of the meal, they are absolutely exquisite.

Yelp
Without doubt the definate place to eat in North Lincolnshire. It has maintained it's reputation as a wonderful restaurant to experience. Although it's really only for that 'Special Occasion', as it is reasonably expensive, if you can save for it or just afford to go, do so, you'll not be disappointed. After your meal, whichever menu you decide on, you must have coffee and petit fours, they are devine.

Yelp
We have been several times now to Winteringham Fields and each time we have had a superb time , excellent food , great service and very good company .We were met by General Manager Kevin Portess who is very friendly and helpful and really makes you feel welcome and relaxed as do all the staff . As we were celebrating my birthday we were staying over and Kevin showed us to our room ,The Burkill Suite ,,yes we splashed out ,,fantastic rooms .Evening, and time for dinner , We had the Menu Suprise , which consists of eight or nine courses inc some tasters This menu is changed every month by Chef and owner Colin McGurran. All the courses were excellent but there are some which are very special , i am not telling you my choice , come and see for yourself (menu will have changed anyway ) After dinner we went into one of the lounges and had coffee and a drink or two with some very pleasant company . Everybody had had a good time and great food , not cheap but for a special treat, spoil yourself ! Well done to all the staff at Winteringham Fields
