Yelp
This is a locally renowned cheese shop located right in the heart of historic downtown Milwaukee on quaint Old World 3rd Street. We happened to visit while the Bucks were playing this Saturday afternoon at Fiserv Forum just a block away. What difference does that make? A big difference when you realize customers have to find metered street parking. Oh well, just like the good ol' days of looking for a free street parking space around Wrigley Field for a day game - just keep circling and circling. After about 15 minutes and on the verge of giving up, sure enough a spot opened up maybe 3 blocks away, woot woot. And double woot as metered parking spots are free on Saturdays.
The shop is historic, quaint, and popular. There is a huge, diverse, and somewhat gourmet and exotic assortment of quality Wisconsin cheese products and it all looked reasonably priced for the quality. Staff is friendly and you could tell they were the sort used to tourists from everywhere as it is that kind of shop. They also had small sample containers available for 5 of their cheeses (today it was 5 year old cheddar, bellavitano merlot, blueberry cobbler cheddar, milk stout beer cheese, and montamore) which was a nice touch. They also have a large adjoining room for snacking or having a beverage but it wasn't being used when we were there. We bought about $27 worth of goodies (some asiago, mozzarella, and monterey jack, and a milk chocolate cow pie) and our handy Yelp check-in netted us a 10% discount, nice again, and thank you WCM! It was a fun stop and well worth a visit if you're really wanting to be an authentic Cheesehead!
